These tacos were sooooo good!!! We were in town for a week and we went twice!

Delicious and fresh mexican, fast service and good portions! Pineapple salsa is amazing!

So happy we came here our last night on AMI! Even in the onset of a tropical storm, Joplin, Zoe, and Julia could not have been nicer - we had some special requests and they made it happen!

I know there are a lot of positive reviews for this place but ......when I walked in I almost walked out. It smelled of old oil the place needs a good cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. The staff was friendly enough I guess, not overly, after we got our food they all went in the back, we never saw them again. I got the tacos and wasn't sure if it was supposed to be a gyro or a taco. The feta totally threw the flavor profile off for me. To each their own, the best food is the food you like.

My little family of 4, which includes a 4 - and 8 year old who are generally picky, loved these little tacos! They were absolutely delicious!!! We ordered online, and they were ready in 20 minutes! In and out quickly! Will definitely be eating from here again!

I got a carne asada taco and it was the best taco I’ve had in my entire life. 10/10 experience. I am dreaming about going back.

Fun, quick service Taqueria serving fresh and delicious made from scratch food. I had the classic tacos with carnitas and scrumptious house made chips and salsa. My daughter had a Build A Burrito with tasty chicken. The prices were very affordable for the Island and definitely worth every cent- Service was great and very helpful!

This place was sooo fresh and amazing!! The portions are perfect and anyone who says otherwise needs to go on a diet :) the staff is hard working and the food is delicious! We will be going back when we come to town!

A particular staff member should not be employed there. I’ve seen multiple reviews about rude staff. Rude comments, mocking, making fun of us. If you’re high and don’t have the personality to communicate nicely with tourists then work somewhere else.

Awesome spot. If you are looking for something unique, delicious, and affordable, Poppos is the move. Get the tacos, some chips, and a soda. You’ll be happy.

No idea the hype of this place. Burritos are tiny, one scoop of carne asada with no flavor. No customer service to speak of. Tourist spot for sure.

Fresh made tortilla, the meat in the tacos was flavorful. The chicken quesadilla was good, but recommend eating in so it doesn't get soggy.

I have mixed feelings. The Burrito: It is definitely not “huge” - it is an average size (I have a small hand) and I was not full after eating it. The server was so stingy on the ingredients she put literally a SPRINKLE of cheese and half a scoop of chicken. It was mostly rice and beans. The BYO Quesadilla: It had BARELY any cheese… this should absolutely not be called a Quesadilla but rather just a pressed taco. The flavor wasn’t bad but this is by no means a real Quesadilla. The Taco: flavor was good, but there was hardly any protein in it. Overall, I didn’t dislike my meal - it was slightly above average in taste. But the items are misleading and the portions are small for the price. I won’t be returning but if you want some quick Mexican, I wouldn’t discourage you from coming here - it was alright.

Fresh made tortillas! Food was great. Classic tacos are hard to beat. We also loved the craft soda, the ginger ale was spicy perfection.

This visit just felt different. They weren’t very busy but seemed to be overwhelmed with an online order? Not sure. Way to slow even on island time. Just didn’t feel welcomed here. Won’t be long for this establishment if they don’t turn it around.

Decent food...service needs improvement. We've been customers for years and Poppo's has gone downhill. When my husband asked what his choices were for sauces, the woman behind the counter pointed to the sign and said nothing - apparently, it was too much work for her to use her words and list the 3 sauces. And they rushed us along even though it was 3:00 and not busy. Also, they do not accept cash anymore. I'll think twice before returning to Poppo's...there are other options for Mexican food on Anna Maria Island.

I went here in April of 2023 and had a great time eating here. 😋 I remember getting the Carne Asada tacos, which were very juicy but tasted so good.

The absolute best Mexican on Anna Maria Island! No one comes close! I love the original taco on a corn tortilla! The chips and salsa; and the pinto beans, and rice!! Absolute best Mexican on the island and in the county! Love the guacamole too! I always add the Guacamole to my Chips and Salsa order. By the way. Chips are made to order. I truly believe they are the best chips I have ever had!

Been here numerous times and it never fails! Best afternoon or dinner bite on the island, food is always fresh, employees are fast and friendly even when they’re bombarded with customers. My go to is their burritos with steak, cheese, arugula, green salsa and some sour cream!

I am a longtime fan of Poppo’s, and this location is my favorite to visit. I love to get a burritos with Carnitas, Honey Lime Cabbage, and Pineapple hot sauce (among other things). The team here has been so consistent over the past couple of years, and I always look forward to coming back.

I went to this restaurant on Tuesday evening. The line was extremely long, however I was surprised 😮 to place my order in less than 20 minutes of waiting. Quite surprising!! I ordered a Big Bowl. It was fresh and delicious 😋! I was sincerely greeted by the friendly staff, and despite how many customers were waiting, the employees 😀 had a smile on their face! The manager asked me how my food was, and the food was very good in quality and taste. I will be returning.

First time at this location and likely my last. I was wondering why there were no lineups, and I may know now why that is. Three servers which was great but it was like a comedy show. They couldn’t get a grip on my order and mixed it up with the customer next to me, it was a gong show. Had to repeat myself several times and finally got to checkout. No apologies! However the food was great!

Food was pretty tasty. Everything tasted fresh. We sat on the porch out front.

Pretty good food. The quesadilla is really good. Tacos are pretty good. Salsa is a little too sweet, like a mango salsa. Guac is good. Atmosphere is meh... Boxes of drinks sitting everywhere and I was in the way of them getting to them 😬.

I've been to a few Poppo's locations but this is definitely my favourite. I can't always make it out to this location but the vibe is right. The restaurant itself is in a good spot and the staff are friendly.

Last might must have been the busiest night of the year for anna maria, every restaurant was absolutely teeming with guests, and the staff at Poppo’s handled it like pros. The serving sizes are on the smaller side, I’d recommend 3 tacos for dinner, (the staff asked if I was alright with two- which I thought meant a lot, but two is more like a lunch- should have listened to the staff). Food was great though, must’ve inhaled the meal it was gone in less than five minutes. Overall, one of my favourite places in the small city, 10/10 would recommend.

Always the best organic option on the island. Had the big bowl with pork for my protein, black beans, honeylime slaw, pico, and feta....w guac and sour cream. I think it is as even better than I remembered.

One of the few places on the AMI that has vegan options. The tempeh is amazing, super flavorful and smokey. The toppings are interesting and chips homemade.

Burrito was all right nothing amazing it is homemade tortilla! it was about $15 and smaller than a chipotle burrito with no add-ons

We ordered a large catering order for 10 last minute. Food was wonderful. Staff was very accommodating. Whole crowd raved about how fresh and delicious everyone was. Even had homemade tortilla. Quite a treat!

Fabulous! On our recent vacation to Anna Maria Island, the one night we did not have seafood, it had to be tacos and it was the best! Excellent service, small place feel and so good! Love that you grill the soft tortilla for the crunch!!! Must go!!!

This local multi-location fast casual restaurant offers a Chipotle-like menu and experience with far superior ingredients and more topping options. Minimal seating inside and lots of tables outside on porch. Drink options include fancy fountain soda, classic soda bottles and cold beer. Good service without warm smiles, just young folks slinging food for a paycheck.

It's like a Chipotle BUT BETTER :) Nice hidden gem on north point of AMI The real sugar soda drinks are a bonus too. We try to eat here every time we come through on vacation.

PRICE & small portion... Everything else is superb. As yummy as their quesadilla is, I was disappointed to be served ONE tortilla, so you're getting only 2 wedges, not four - I've never seen that before. Even though every place is cutting back portions, come ON, if you want a 4-wedge quesadilla you're looking at approximately $23 before tip! That's ROUGH I had the Carne Asada and it was cooked to perfection. I travel all throughout America FT and this was some of THE tastiest Carne Asada I've ever had. Full of flavor, juice, savory AND citrus and with choices of fresh fresh goodies for toppings. I should add, they did not skimp on the meat, although cheese was only on one side of the fold too, so everything keeps falling out as you eat. Only one tortilla Only 2 wedges Skimped on cheese . . . 👆🏻 That's why only 3 of 5 stars Really, you can't just part with 1 more tortilla and a little more cheese, FFS? - I won't be back because one of your competitors on the same island just south of you offers *just as tasty* for the same price and it's double the food.

Burritos are huge,and so is the flavor. Tortillas are made on the spot, carnitas as flavourful and delicious, as well as the rest of the ingredients. Recommended.

Best food during my stay on the island. I love Chipotle, this burrito is the best burrito that I have ever had. Staff wasn't as friendly or helpful as every other place on AMI. Outdoor dining area was dicey. Boards on deck were loose and teetering. Tables were so dirty my young child said something.

Good choice for something quick and on the healthier side. We had the poppos tacos with chicken and a chicken quesadilla, delicious and flavorful food. The chips were a little overdone but my man and I are tortilla chip snobs. Overall good experience. Will be back!

Super clean and fresh and completely different and pleasant in a way I wasn't expecting. This is ALL fresh, organic, local , healthy food. Jennifer the manager is super detailed to to service and cleanliness and service. She puts that home love into the cooking. Thank you Poppos for the Grade A serve! And right on the beach ! Awesome!

Poppo's is a must try when you are in the area! The food is excellent, and the service is even better. Hannah and Zoe are always so kind and welcoming whenever I come in. Definitely a 10/10 would recommend

I really enjoyed my visit to this unique restaurant on beautiful Anna Maria Island. The location is convenient, the restaurant is nicely decorated inside and out, the staff are very friendly, patient, and efficient, the food is absolutely delicious and reasonably priced, and the dining room is okay.

We’ve been gone for a week and we are still talking about how the food was the best Chipotle style food we’ve ever had. Their salsa is amazing and even better after sitting in the fridge for a day. I will have to say the prices are pretty high though. I got a small burrito bowl, my partner got a burrito, and we both got a drink and it was over $40.

We made TWO visits during our short stay in Anna Maria. The fast-casual mexy food choices were really satisfying and filling. They have great seating on the porch and many drinks. We enjoyed the big bowls, quesadillas and tacos (hand made tortilla). Get some chips, they were a delicious addition.

This taco joint is phenomenal. The carne asada may be the best taco I have ever had. All ingredients are made same day (or the same minute for the tortillas and corn chips). Jenn, Zoe, and Alexis were kind and eager to help and also provide recommendations to other activities on the island. Do yourself a favor and swing by!

We found this place as a little hole in the wall as we were exploring on vacation; didn't plan it, just dropped in and let me tell you, probably one of the better places I've eaten all my trips to the area. It's kind of like a Qdoba or a Chipotle if you've been there, but tastes 10 times better and they make their own tortillas right there when you order. Next vacation I'm definitely planning to go back.

Got Tacos? We were visiting family as I mentioned in my last post. We hit the donut shop next door to here first because they were closing soon. Once we overwhelmed ourselves with donuts we stepped next door for lunch. It was amazing upon entering how good the street taco smell was. We gazed at the menu board almost as if we were tranced by the description and options. After waking up from this euphoria we made some selections on the fly based on what items we like and sounded good. The Carne Asada was hands down my favorite. We had bowls and salad bowls. The flavors were amazing the add-ins completed the entire experience. We will definitely visit again and again as we visit frequently in the future.

The soft corn tortillas are amazing! We frequent this place every time we visit!

The tacos and quesadilla shells are made fresh right in front of you and they are amazing. I wasn’t excited about eating here but my family likes this kind of food. It exceeded my expectations and my wife said it was “better than Chipotle”.

Price is a little steep but its some of the best tacos on the island

In the past I've rated this location with 5⭐s, but I've recently now moved to the area and have ate at locations in Bradenton as well. I love the food, but if you end up at this location (AMI) while there are an ALL GIRL staff, prepare for rudeness, a sour face, and to be charged whatever they want to charge you. We placed an order of chips and maybe we received 14, when we had ½ a bag every other time. I doubt anyone in my family will be back to this location unless the guys are working. They're genuinely nicer, fun and make you feel that they're happy to serve you.

Tacos were very fulling. If you're not a big eater, depending on how much items you add to your taco, it can be easily shared between 2 persons.
