I was told it was the original location. I went early in the morning. There was a group of older gentlemen having their morning coffee; they seemed to be regulars. It was a throwback to yesteryear. The decor is red and white with lots of nostalgic touches. Everyone was smiling and friendly. I was told Rickey Meche's Donut King on Guillbeau is the best in Lafayette. It did not disappoint. I provided donuts for an event and people gobbled them up

Best donuts especially in mardi gras were it is most popular but it needs to get bigger like building wise

Went there to get donuts and a customer brought a dog in the lady behind the counter by the kolaches came out and played with the puppy pet the puppy, and went back behind the counter to serve food. The customer service sucked this morning because everyone was standing around talking I was ignored when I walked in, so I proceeded to get a drink after I walked in another older white lady walked in, and they immediately asked if they could help her, I will not be returning to this location again oh, and I forgot to mention the two young ladies that were standing by the counter when I finally did get help we’re talking about a Mail customer that had just walked out. Very disgusting.

Alright, check it out So you go in and get some of the best breakfast food in the south. As someone who married into a southern family. This place is a must. There is a lot of choice and a lot of great quality items.

I had a boudin and cheese roll which was ok. I am from a czech community where we know that a kolache is fruit based and square and a klobasnek is what you guys call a kolache. It's kind of like if I called boudin a sausage. I would have preferred the boudin still in it's casing for a firmer bite. The bread used for the roll had a good flavor to it. It also had a nice texture and flake. I am a kolache snob and I would give it a 4/5. I also had a cinnamon coated wreath looking thing that was the absolute BEST donut I have ever had in my entire life. It was soft and it melted in your mouth and it was soooo good. The balance of cinnamon to sugar was perfect. I loved that it was not overly sweet and had more cinnamon flavor. Now I wish that I had tried more donuts instead of the roll. If I could get a donut every day from Meche's for the rest of my life I would be a happy camper.

Was in a donut eating crave so I went inside to view the cases. So surprised at all the offerings. Purchased a twisted long donut that tasted like a freshly made king cake. Ate it first on my way home to Sulphur. Then I ate an apple fritter. Washed it down with OJ. The Barvaian cream filled had to wait to eat the next AM. All were beyond my expectations and I will be back next week!

Meches Doughnuts (especially the Guilbeau road location) is BY FAR the best doughnut you can get for the best price that I've ever had, and it isn't even close. I truly pity the rest of the world that isn't Lafayette, Louisiana for the types of doughnut establishments they are forced to choose from. Imagine if you only had a bottom of the barrel chain like Dunkin' or one of those pretentious and expensive designer doughnut spots to get your doughnuts from. That would be a nightmare. Local Lafayette cooking and culture has spoiled me as far as its food in general, and Meches is no exception to that. What, you think Cajuns only know how to make etouffee? Wrong. I grew up near Lafayette High on Congress Street and have many very fond memories of my dad and I going to Meches on Guilbeau in the early morning hours. Inside, the bright lights, jovial sounds of neighbors greeting each other good morning, and the crisp aromas wafting from the freshly baked dough in the back are the most pleasant shocks to your senses. It may be the 2020's outside, but once you step inside Meches, it's like walking back in time to an era where businesses actually put customers and community above all, and when I went home to visit last month and walked in, it would be remiss to tell you that it had the EXACT same impact as it did when I was a child; like walking into Willy Wonkas doughnut factory. Have I mentioned that they have more than just doughnuts? Oh yes. This is the city of Lafayette, after all. There is a large selection of delicious kolaches as well as BOUDIN (my favorite Cajun food) and more stuff that I probably don't even know about. Oh, and they make an amazing KING CAKE during the Mardi Gras season, but don't get me started on that. My mouth watered a good bit when I typed that just now. Just know there is no going wrong with anything on the menu from Meches, whether it be sweet treats or hearty meats. They also have a large selection of beverages including Bordens strawberry milk which is next to impossible to find anywhere else; it's like the foil Charizard of liquids. Meches just has a remarkably niche and superb selection of items, all around. I haven't lived in Lafayette for over a decade now, but I visit my family and friends there when I can. When I do, I always find the time to make my rounds to multiple child/adulthood hotspots from my past that are still doing their thing, and Meches is one of them. I don't think I even really have to say not to go anywhere else for your doughnut needs in Lafayette, but I honestly don't even know what other option would even be slightly plausible. "Big Doughnut" is just lucky that Meches isn't greedy like them and hasn't started an expansive reaching chain because they would have a monopoly of the industry. Shoutout to Meches, thank you for the memories. Heart emoji.

Stopped by after church, I’m glad we did. I think the glazed cake doughnuts were the best I ever had. This is a great place to find quality doughnuts.

We where in Lafayette for one night and I am so glad we got breakfast from Rickey Menche's! Donuts where amazing... pretty sure they where the best I've ever had. Their boston cream with cream cheese filling was next level. The service there was top notch. The lady behind the counter was incredibly welcoming and helpful. Really felt the southern hospitalty there Also dont sleep on their Kolaches! I tried my first Boudan here and it was amazing. perfect breakfast bite

Drove 5 hrs for a King Cake and it was fantastic.

Always busy it seems however there is a reason for that. The people and the sweets are great!! Go there for fresh sweets and leave with a smile :)

In my opinion this is the best place to get donuts and king cakes. The donuts are gigantic and covered in glaze, flavor toppings, or fillings. They are inexpensive and will fill you up fast. The kolaches are awesome too. The staff is extremely friendly and a pleasure to interact with. If I had the money I would eat here 7 days a week and twice on Sunday. The king cakes are the absolute best and they have a ton of filling options to make anyone happy. If you haven’t tried this location please treat yourself and discover the donut shop the killed krispy cream many years ago. This place has been here for 40 plus years and I hope they will be here for another 40 years. If you don’t try it you must give all your money to the poor, sell your house, and move to the North Pole forever.

Wonderful establishment! The workers here are very friendly and helpful. The donuts are the very best and they are always warm. I can't stop thinking about them as I eat them daily now and they pair well with a cup of coffee.

Open until 6pm until after Mardi Gras. Service was very friendly. Shop didn’t have king cake flavor I wanted on shelf and took plain cake and made strawberry cream cheese with no questions asked. Come get your king cakes here.

This is the last location still run by the original owners and donuts taste the absolute best from here. The workers are always so bright, helpful, and friendly. The are very busy so the inside is always fairly full but it's worth the wait. The donuts are big, fluffy, and wonderful. Made with love for sure and excellent prices. The parking lot is usually pretty packed though so be careful and happy grubbin ❤️

By far the BEST and warmest donuts you’ll ever have. They also sell delicious king cakes for Mardi Gras celebrations, and other tasty treats like kolache. It’s always a pleasure to visit each year. Can’t wait to come back!

Always one of my favorite places since I moved to Lafayette. Food always great fresh and hot. Most importantly the people that work there are awesome and the atmosphere is fun a lot of times I listen to some of the conversations them older men have they can teach a lot and they can also cut up too. Love the place.

I'm originally from the Lafayette area but currently live in Texas. I love donuts and have had them from all over the country. I have yet to find donuts as good as Meche's. I had to pickup a dozen to bring back to Houston. They are amazing.

There was good music playing, the young lady taking my order was so nice even though they was busy as freak, and the donuts never miss. They hot and delicious and you can't just have one...you can't

Ordered sausage and cheese kolaches. Only to receive them with jalapeños. They need to pay attention to what they are grabbing and giving their customers.

The best donuts in LaFayette. Arrived at 3:45a to beat the rush and was pleasantly surprised to be second in line. Took two dozen out to the team in Sulphur and all that saw the boxes made comments about Meche’s being the best. Reminded me of my fave donut spot to Atlanta, Revolution.

Really do like their products, well, I did. I went the other day to get a King Cake,got a cinnamon roll and an apple fritter. The lady said we don't make those anymore, well, might as well stop making donuts, cinnamon rolls, etc. I was very shocked, I will not be returning for a while, I guess maybe the next King Cake.

This amazing place. Historically significant of course. A buddy asked me to pick up a King Cake in Lafayette on our recent road trip for a boucherie event with Chef John Folse. We spied this place on our way to Scott, and remembering it was on several lists, we dropped in. I grabbed some King Cakes, notified my buddy back in Houston who responded "that one is based on doughnuts and is actually my least favorite". Well, I didn't know. I'm not a big fan of the King Cake anyway ( baking is one of my hobbies and I've always felt that I could improve on it with a superior brioche recipe). But you know, the place was hopping and we loved checking out the doughnuts. And the King Cakes did find a home with friends (bavarian cream and strawberry)/ So keep in mind about the doughnut based bread portion if you're shopping for one.

Better then Dounkin donuts an any other donut place I can think of .. Keep up the great work y'all . its family friendly never had a problem thank the lord an I can't get over how delicious the donuts are an big ..

The only drawback to the store is the wait, however its because it's a popular site. The food is great, the cashiers are friendly, the atmosphere is great. Definitely a lafayette staple site.

First time I ever got a King Cake for Halloween and it didn't disappoint. Very nice staff and they make the best king cakes of all the Meches locations in my opinion.

Meche's is my favorite donut place. This specific location was the very first Meche's location that had the huge donuts. My favorite it the Half (Chocolate-covered) and Half (Glazed). There is NO other donut place that can even touch the "high FLAVOR quality" of Meche's Donuts. Hey!! It's in the DOUGH!! Like people say, "They never disappoint." You all should try them. Hopefully you all receive the same experience the same as I have!!

I always like coming here. I get items to bring to coworkers and I try not to cheat, but what's one cinnamon roll.😁 Everyone is always friendly and helpful and offer good suggestions if needed. I tip every time I go because I like how I feel there early in the morning. Anytime I get great customer service I am happy, because I give it! Enjoy!

We got a cherry donut and got a quarter filled jelly filled donut. wasn’t bad or anything but not at all what we ordered.

Friendliest staff! Over the years though, something has changed. The flavor is definitely there but the donuts have become more dough-y than we're used to.
