I go to this place a lot and it’s a shame to see how the quality has fallen in just about every facet of this place. The fish quality and portions are paltry as well. And while there are a few gems on the menu, be warned, this is NOT the place for omakase. I love omakase and this place is not it. They would drop down the dishes and not even explain what they were half of the time and I felt as though I was eating more chicken, red meat etc than sashimi or nigiri. It was pretty disappointing and underwhelming. Management did the best they could. Natalie was great and very sweet. Kirby was kind of rude and flippant.

This place was very average to me. Nothing special about the sushi and the rolls were very sloppy in how they were made. If you are going to spend money I would choose a better location! I even ordered some soup and it never came!

I can't speak to dining in, but I ordered salmon avocado and crab rolls for take-out. Not only did they skimp on the portion sizes ($60 worth of sushi was not enough to feed two small/regular sized people), but the quality of the salmon was NOT GOOD. The salmon itself was mushy and borderline inedible. NOT FRESH. Take your money and go to Sugarfish.

Familiar with JINYA branding. I visited their ramen restaurant in D.C. So, I decided to visit Robata JINYA for dinner one night in LA. The special sushi rolls, cut rolls, and the Nigiri was fresh and good! The edamame with garlic sauce was also good. Recommend trying them out.

Not recommended!! I got food poisoning from their sushi. The worst part is the manager didn't even care and said we had no calls that day about our sushi. That is so ridiculous and makes no sense. Just because they didn't receive any calls doesn't justify the fact that any food can get contaminated at any moment. I experienced the worst customer service ever from a manager and regret coming here. I would never recommend to anyone!

Great place for skewered meats and sushi. Come prepared to spend, as the really good items have a higher-than-average price but worth the price. Good for special occasions or just a quick fix for yakitori.

Come here! The spicy tuna roll was one of the best I ever had. Not exaggerating. The yellowtail scallion roll was also incredible! Try their specials too.

Their shrimp toast is amazing. I had it along with the Wagyu Tacos, which are very small but very delicious. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Also, their Lychee Maritini is my favorite drink there, and it's a really good price.

The service was phenomenal. It is rare to have a waitstaff that is so attentive and knowledgeable. We ordered 4 types of sushi and each one was delicious. We'd never head of lime roll and decided to try it. I'm so glad we did. It was refreshing and delicious. The hand made tofu was a real treat. They pour it right at your table and it solidifies before your eyes. I'd never seen that before. I absolutely recommend this place. It is a rare and wonderful experience.

An izakaya with delicious Japanese food. This restaurant is very popular with locals as the seasoning is well localized. There's plenty of ramen here that you can eat with just about anything, so be careful when eating it as a finishing touch.

Tasty rolls. Fresh. Very quick service for dinner though desert took noticeably longer. The spicy tuna crispy rice was a hearty appetizer. Toro was some of the best I've had.

I am probably the most loyal customer robata jinya has ever had. I have been eating at robata once a week for the past 4 years and was always the biggest fan until now. I noted the hostesses hired recently are extremely unprofessional and amateurs. I just called to try to place an order for pickup and the hostess put me on hold for 15 mins with no warning about how busy the restaurant was. I ended up hanging up and calling again. She picked up and I explained how unprofessional it was to leave me on hold indefinitely. She said okay can you hold for 2 mins? I said are you sure it’s going to be 2 mins because I’m going to time it this time. She just hung up on me…. Extreme unprofessional manner. Robata do better and hire more professional experienced hostesses

What a hoot of a happy hour. Would recommend and amazing food. Hand rolls, ramen, spicy garlic friend edamame. The whole thing is just great. And the lychee martinis are an amazing

When you are ready for umami,(yummy in Japanese),yellow tail sashimi with ponzu sauce and jalapeño,albacore sashimi with fried onions and secret sauce,are must have.Service is fantastic and setting is tranquil and chic.The staff are very friendly and respectful,they also have a full bar and Robata( Japanese BBQ).

My 2nd favorite sushi restaurant.

When I visited Japan, I fell in love with Robata restaurants, and after trying and enjoying the Jinya Ramen bar (sister restaurant) in Atlanta, I had to try this restaurant. Well, what can I say? This restaurant was worth the visit. Everything was delicious, and I wanted to try much more on the menu, but I only can eat so much. You will need to make reservations because the seating area is small. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This is a great place to eat authentic japanese food, every single thing I ate was SO GOOD! I recommend the hot pot gyozas, nigiris, cut/hand roll, edamame and the iced green tea. I sat at the bar and I was able to look at all the fresh ingredients the chef uses. The place is a bit small but is cozy and make sure to make a reservation before you go cause it's a bit crowded.

My favorites on the menu are the crispy rice and sashimi. Parking can be tricky.

The food is really good! It's a bit on the pricey side, for what you get. I wish they had their whole menu on food delivery platforms, but they don't, so we keep coming back. It's loud & the service is hit or miss. At least they didn't ask us to switch tables halfway through our meal this last time, which they did the time before without compensating us.

She is amazing and deserves a raise for the compassion and accommodation she puts in! Second off love the vibes here and it’s beautiful and intimate at the same time. 👏🏽 I sat outside but la streets aren’t a view, weather was nice though and they have heat lamps. 😌 I had a couple of grilled veggie options and kept it simple. Since I’m a vegan, I’d say there’s a pretty decent amount of things to have here. They also have WONDERFUL presentation. I ate a lot of my food and realized after I didn’t take pictures so I didn’t have many here. Lol😂 All in the menu was amazing! 🔥 Okay so wait tofu … HOMEMADE TOFU?! (See video) literally poured soy and made the tofu in front of my eyes 👀 I was so excited. Tee hee I promise you need to come and support Robata JINYA. You won’t regret it! Wow !!!! I finally found a good sushi spot close to me. There rolls are delicious and service is good. Make sure to make a reservation because they do book up. Sitting at the bar is nice too. Fun environment. Fish is fresh and I love this spot. Highly recommended:) Wagyu steak roll was so goooddd!!

I recently visited Robata Jinya for the first time and had an amazing experience! I sat at the sushi bar, I was thoroughly impressed with the high-quality food they serve during their gray happy hour. The prices are very reasonable, and although the service wasn't constantly checking in, I understand they were busy, and when they were present, they provided excellent assistance. I can't wait to return for another great dining experience. I recommend getting the beef tongue , brussels sprouts tempura, Penrose, and all of their yakitori!

Great service, decor, and food.

I have been coming to Robata Jinya on 3rd for years. The food is overall good, but unfortunately I am now scarred from going there. My friend and I were eating on the outside patio - and were harassed by a drunk woman. She was drunk before she entered the restaurant and the service staff let her in and continued serving her drinks. She then continued to bother other people around that were eating. The staff did not tell her to leave the restaurant - continued to serve her drinks - until she threw up in her glass right next to my friend and I. It was so disgusting that I almost puked myself watching it. This restaurant really needs training and order.

Great place. Cool vibe. Excellent variety. Decent quality fish. Service can sometimes be slow when things are busy (which is what most of the reviews are about), but everyone’s very friendly. Just one suggestion, the sashimi cuts are very good but a bit too lemony / salty.

The service and atmosphere are good. The food was ok but not great. Shrimp tempura was great, but Ramen was the worst I've ever had. Sushi was just ok. Overall, I'm ok that tried it but will not try it again.

Would go again / price = $15-$25 / service = above average / cleanliness = average / interior = dark, moody, EDM, rustic Japanese / parking = metered street Ordered the Double Albacore Truffle total around ~$21. It was my first time here or even at a Jinya anything and quite impressed. Although seating for 1 was only available at the sushi bar, it makes sense so no harm. My server, Nia, was very friendly, helpful, and had great service. I had some questions on deciding between small plates and the special rolls and she kindly answered all of them. Eventually, I decided on the truffle roll because of her recommendation. Now, my 4 star rating might be deceiving...I very much enjoyed the roll; however, although good, the yuzu soy sauce was a bit too much on the plate causing my roll to be saltier and slightly drenched in sauce than desired. A better approach may be to just have drops on the top or bottom of the rolls, or maybe some kind of fancy line or so around the roll. Maybe even creating it to be thicker, almost like a yuzu soy glaze which would reduce the stream of it that the roll lies on. The hint of truffle mixed with a tad spiciness from the Cajun and spicy albacore with the refreshing cucumber to balance numerous flavors together blended so well. Regardless, if it was not for the slightly drenched sauce on my roll, this would be a 5 star. I am curious on how the other rolls and what seems to be the main yaki tori like Robata Yaki are. Definitely will look to come again or one closer to me.

Having relocated to LA from NYC, I was searching for great ramen like I'm used to. The reviews for Robata JINYA looked great, so I decided to try them. OMG! The ramen was amazing. I had the JINYA Tonkotsu Black HOT with an extra portion of Pork Chashu. Great heat! Delicate noodles and the pork was heavenly buttery. That's why I ordered an extra portion. I can't wait to go back to try more menu offerings. In fact, I may just order today.

I absolutely love the meatballs here. They have a wide variety of dishes such as sushi, yakitori, and other small plates, but I always end up eating too many meatballs to try anything else. I just can't help it, they're so delicious! I wish this place was closer to my home so I could visit once a week. It's definitely a must-try if you love meatballs!

Small cute place on 3rd street. It was very busy at 8:30 pm and people kept walking in. The sushi is the best i’ve had in LA ! And i love their robata options. for those who don’t eat seafood, this place has plenty of options on the menu for you to enjoy. The beek skewers and shiitake mushrooms were great. The seaweed salad tasted so fresh and did not have a fishy smell/taste at all! This place is a great date spot.

After waiting for my order for an hour and fifteen minutes they cancelled my order without so much as an apology, refused to answer the phone for only 3 items - one roll and two orders of nigiri. What an awful place. At 9:45pm I learned that I will not be receiving my order after waiting for it for over an hour. They took it upon themselves to cancel my order 0 customer service 0 hospitality 0 remorse. Don’t order from this dump!

Amazing food!!! Up there with the best food we had in LA. The service was fantastic. We went for brunch when they opened so it wasn't as busy as I expect it would be at night but was still quite a nice atmosphere. The only thing is there was building works going on next door which is out of their control so that put us off eating outside but I won't hold that against them. If you're in LA, it's definitely worth a visit.

This is my favorite restaurant- great happy hour. But I am super disappointed in the host that I had when dining in. She was rude apon entry, talking loudly about how much she hates her job and how she doesn’t get paid enough to the chef at the sushi bar. While J am sitting at the bar she leans over my area and starts talking loudly again about more inappropriate things to the chef while I was trying to eat. Super unprofessional. but loveeeee the food and the drinks are bomb

This has become one of my new go-to spots for melt in your mouth sushi, great service and a fun atmosphere! They have an incredible happy hour from 2-6, making their delicious food more affordable for those on a tight budget. Service is always fast and friendly and they have a patio as well as inside dining. The wagyu beef skewers and the hand rolls are to die for!

Their happy hour is the ticket. Otherwise, it's a bit pricey.

We ate here after Happy Hour and felt that it was on the pricey side. $250.00 for four people which included 2 small house bottles of sake. We did not order that much. The food was good but not memorable. Our guestsusually come during happy hour and love rhe place as they feel they get a good meal at a great price. They serve edamame in garlic sauce. They also had a spicy shrimp appetizer. If you decide to go, I strongly recommend reservations.

This is the perfect Japanese place for the indecisive. Sushi, ramen, grilled meats and grilled vegetables. Everything is well prepared and delicious. Mostly small plates. But always reliable

All around good. You can pretty much find something that fits your appetite while being budget conscious. Very authentic Japanese food. Parking can be very hard so get ready to either circle around for a meter spot or valet that car.

This place if very dark and noisy with unnecessary loud music pounding. The sushi is mediocre and when it comes to the sashimi it is a surprise that the chef didn’t cut his fingers. The slices are paper thin

Robata JINYA is my grandson, Chance's favorite restaurant. That's why we went there on his birthday. Robata JINYA is an interesting place. It's often crowded so I recommend you make a reservation ahead of time. If you arrive between 3PM and 6PM, you can order from the happy hour menu. In addition to reasonably priced drinks, there are very reasonably priced appetizers. I shared some of the small plates that were ordered by my family. The ones I tasted were excellent. My main course was Ramen noodles in a spicy broth with chicken. The chicken, itself, wasn't particularly exciting, but the broth and the noodles--outstanding. The food in Robota JINYA is delicious. That's why you need a reservation. I recommend Robata JINYA

today I went to order at 7:06 pm a premium tinkotsu ramen red they told me that in 10 minutes, but since they are busy I understand that it would not be ready in 10 minutes so I went at 20 minutes but my food was not ready yet and I they gave it at 7:48pm more than 40 minutes later but that's not so much the problem the biggest problem is that they gave me my food cold, in 15 minutes it couldn't have gotten that cold now I have to wait and get home at put it in the oven. I wanted to eat the food because I just got off work. As a suggestion, don't take many orders if you can't handle all of them.

First time here, got a pretty good tasting of their menu. The yakitori is awesome, good portions per skewer especially the pork belly. The small sushi rolls are nice and refreshing as well.

Robata JINYA is quaint Japanese restaurant that offers sushi traditional small plates and ramen. It's always been on my list of go to- restaurants on 3rd street. Ambience is chill and cute, good for happy hours, meetings and group settings and casual date dining. We did a walk in, and didn't need to reserve but it was also a Monday! I always recommend to make reservations anywhere just so it's for sure especially if you are a a planner. Ambience and staff was friendly and knowledgeable which is always a plus! Prices were decent not to crazy so a good staple sushi place on 3rd for sure! We also ended up arriving during their happy hour which I believe they do daily? 2-6pm. Here are the highlights of our Ribata journey! Spicy tuna crispy sushi roll we chose the 5 piece. Spicy Tuna Handroll ordered (2) Robata-Yaki orders 2 pork belly's - it's delicious Shrimp Toast Shishito Peppers X Wagyu Tacos La Brea Roll Definitely want to come back and taste their ramen bowls!

Not sure how this is rated so well. Sushi is extremely low quality, one of the worst sushi experiences I've had in LA. Skewers were a B- at best and gave me and my wife a stomach ache. service was non-existent'. I'd go pretty much anywhere else.

We’re regulars for 1-2 years now. Anything we tried was great. Our go-to order is the California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Okra, Avocado Cucumber Roll, and the Baked Salmon Roll. It’s not the cheapest place, but the quality never disappoints! It’s great for dine-in or take-out. I’m taking off a star because the food usually takes 1.5 hours to prepare, sometimes even 2 hrs - so order ahead. When you select pick up, make sure to call beforehand because we had the situation a few times, that the delivery platform showed that the order is ready for pickup, but when you get there they haven’t started the order yet.

We had a reservation but they told us we have to wait about 20-30 minutes like everyone else who walks in! What is the point of reservation then?! Service was super slow. it took more than 20 minutes until the waiter came by and asked if we would like some water! The food was good. It wasn't heavy. We liked the Line roll and albacore truffle. It is a loud place so definitely not good for the first or second date but we went as a group and we enjoyed our time. The good part about slow service was we were not rushed out. So I am giving 4 stars instead of 3.

We went in to the restaurant and looked at the menu. Our waitress let us know the salmon was farm raised and so was all the other fish. We asked about the sourcing of the lamb and the waitress responded that it’s from Costco. We left before eating due to the low quality of ingredients. If you want a gilded experience this is the place to go.

I just had a great dinner at Robata Jinya. All of the staff were so nice, our food was fabulous, and I loved the cool, but cozy vibe. The restaurant was full almost the whole time we were there, so try to make a reservation. It was my first time at the restaurant, but I will definitely come back. I highly recommend Robata Jinya!
