Food was great. Atmosphere was lovely. Wait was long. But that's just because the restaurant is great. Worth the wait.

Catfish was fried perfectly and well seasoned, mash potatoes were nice and creamy, French bread was fresh. Picked up food and it was boxed very professionally.

The tile fish special was amazing over pesto fettuccine. Also the crawfish boil soup was rich and flavorful. Adrian our server was friendly, entertaining and beautiful. Last week I was craving a steak, so I came here. It was so tasty! The service was great, especially at the bar. The bartender, was so helpful! Need to come here again soon!

Roberto’s off the Mississippi River is a hidden Gem to go to, it does not look like much from the outside, but it’s one of the best restaurants in the area, always has specials, seafood, steaks, chicken and more with that special sauce and touch makes this place a winner! Make sure it’s on your future dinner plans

They don’t tell you but this is a cajun/creole place and the food has a kick. So if you can’t handle spicy food get a steak or salad. I was sad i couldn’t eat the Étouffée. or the tasso shrimp and corn soup.

I didn’t feel comfortable at all spending my hard earned money. I ordered the fish bladder that only comes with fish fries and string beans. I didn’t want the string beans so I got extra fries. I was looking for hush puppies, fried shrimp stuffed crab, that’s normally in a fish platter for $27, not pleased at all. My kids got catfish Billy with string beans for $24. I believe that’s right I paid with $100 bill I guess so he didn’t touch my hand, he gave me the money in a credit card holder the young lady stood in the door peeping at us Never again

3 yrs ago I had a lunch date here with the most amazing woman I had ever met! The food was so intoxicating that I was able to get to to agree to a 2nd date! 2 yrs later we came back and i proposed to her right outfront! This past labor day I married that amazing woman, and now we go back because it's part of our story! So thanks for the memories and helping us share the taste of true love!!!

Everything we had was very good and our server was prompt and very cortesous.

I usually first judge a seafood restaurant by its fried seafood platter. It has a good variety but most importantly it has a good seasoning. First the gumbo was very good. I'll get a bowl next time. The oysters and the softshell crab were a little on the small side but very tasty. A classic river road experience.

This was an amazing experience. First, the food was terrific. Fried catfish, yes please! Beans and rice, don't ask me twice. But, the real story here is the family that runs the place. They literally hosted an entire celebration service for my aunt without asking for anything in return. I asked if we could contribute, and the owner said absolutely not. They are the best of the best. Please spend all of your extra money here. These are the good people left in the world!

I would say go give this little out of the way place a try. We drove thirty minutes out of the city to dine here. Very old building with lots of charm. Nicely presented Cajun meals and great flavor and quality. The staff was warm and quick. No wait to get in Friday for lunch.

We arrived at 8:30 PM for dinner not knowing that they closed at 9:00 PM. The waitress was very sweet and accommodating when I told her I didn’t know they closed at that hour. We were the last ones in the restaurant. The food was served, I had the fish en papillote and it was delicious! The restaurant decor is so cool.

This is the best seafood restaurant I have ever been to and I am from Louisiana. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Everything we ate was delicious and the atmosphere was very nice.

It's legit. Disappointed they took sausage poboys off the menu, but I understand they need to balance and rotate their inventory (their limited poboy selection in favor of their other dishes is a real disappointment). It's tough to get 3 courses and spend $50 on a lunch without your favorite poboy type.... at least they get the good bread and have legit ranch. To the manager: I'd prefer to see less pretentious specials in favor of more authentic lunch options, even if n you have to have to proce them up a bit for a similar margin.

We visited on a Tuesday night, and it was quiet. The food was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive. We will be back.

I never post reviews, ever… but after spending $365+ and feeling disappointed when we left, I thought I would share. The service was rough. Waitress seemed overwhelmed. Not too friendly. The food, eh. Only thing I liked was the scampi crab claws. And I love food!!! I’ve had a thousand other dishes elsewhere at half the price… that tasted way better than this. I ordered a $50 plate…and could only eat the asparagus! The steak was overcooked and covered in SALTY crawfish. So much salt that my tongue went dry after the first bite. The dessert? I tried the popular king cake cheesecake and it was SOUR. Yes, you read that right. I thought that would redeem the dinner, but it didn’t. Not to mention it was so hot in there, we were all sweating. We definitely won’t be regulars here, much less returning. 2 stars for… grace? Maybe it was a bad night for all? Hopefully this isn’t a regular experience for guests.

My family and I visited this restaurant a few nights ago on Wednesday night. This place had the worst service I’ve had at a restaurant in years. The host staff was as rude as they could possibly be to us. They delayed and delayed and delayed getting us seated at a table despite there being empty tables everywhere and plenty of staff working. We waited almost an hour to be seated while they had “no wait” for a table. I asked the host staff 3 separate times to be seated during that hour and she claimed “she forgot”. We had 3 small children with us who were hungry. I tried ordering food for them while we were waiting for a table in the bar area and the host would not even take care of that for us. Eventually we finally got seated at a table, and then the waiter even refused to come and introduce herself, or even just take our drink orders for another 20 minutes or so until our last guests joined us at the table. This place has the rudest and most unprofessional people working and running this establishment. We will never be coming back here and I hope that this serves as a warning to anyone thinking of coming here to eat. It’s amazing this place is even still open with how they treat their guests.

One of the best meals we have had in south Louisiana. Truly a unique and wonderful destination for a fabulous experience and meal. Nice friendly staff serving great food and cocktails in an old open dining room. The food was unbelievably good. I tried the special - Grilled Salmon with lumped crab, Beurre Blanc over linguine. It was on point. The salmon was moist with a nice sear and the pasta was cooked perfectly. And, while they claim to specialize in seafood, my wife enjoyed one of the best steaks we’ve had in the area. Roberto’s has been moved from our “want-to-go”list to now one of our “Favorites”! 😎👍

The rustic charm and fantastic dining experience is second to none. The quality of food is outstanding and service is ever present. I was blown away by how fresh and inspired the dishes were! This is another go to dining destination for elegant meals and refreshing atmosphere in my book!

Food was pretty good, but for some reason, there are parking spots that, when filled, make it easy to get t-boned when trying to pull out of the parking lot. I literally couldn't see further than 10 yards down the road in either direction due to parked cars blocking my view, and the other end of the parking lot had some big potholes I would've had to traverse. At least there isn't too much traffic on that road.

Always get the best food and service. You can't go wrong at Roberto's !🙂

We are visiting friends in the Baton Rouge area and through the years have eaten many places but, this is the best anywhere !!!! All four of us ate every bite. Well worth the drive !!

Out of the way and well worth the drive. Great food and a relaxed atmosphere, think old school grocery store with butcher paper on the tables.

We had the worst experience at Roberto’s on Mothers Day. Our party of 5 had a reservation at 1, we arrived at 1245, we were seated a little after 2 when they “made” a table to seat us in the bar. Starving, we ordered all our meals right away. We got our meals at 3:06 and at that time the entire staff was working feverishly to close the restaurant down so while we were trying to enjoy our special occasion meal we had to deal with staff breaking down the restaurant. Our food was mediocre, we passed on dessert because at this point we were just done, our server was nice but throughout our experience we felt neglected. We never got an apology , even sharing feedback to the manager, for how long our meal took. Not the Roberto’s we’ve enjoyed in the past.

Just 20 minutes south of LSU on River Road in St Gabriel. This OLD plantation house serves amazing southern cuisine. It deserves 6 stars in all categories.

Absolutely loved the food! Fried gren tomatoes with crab meat maison was the best I've ever had. Bread pudding was excellent, too.

Excellent steak! Great service and drinks. Wasn’t terribly pleased with the shrimp Roberto, but my dads catfish was delicious and I loved their tartar sauce. Menu prices are a bit much but that’s none of my business. All about the food!

We ate Friday at 12:00. We had fried fish & shrimp. Fish was gross very fishy. Shrimp OK. Had 4 shrimp, 4 tiny pieces of fish plenty fries. $22 not worth it. #2 Fried shrimp with effoufe. Effoufe not seasoned at all very light color.shrimp ok. #3 fried chicken fried steak which was pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes. Steak burnt. Spent all lot of money & it was not worth it at all. Very disappointing. I have never eaten at your place before that it was not always incredible & delicious. Is there a new cook? Not the same. Friends of ours ate at your place few weeks ago & they told us it was not good either. Please do something to bring it back great again. I wish you the best.

Enjoyed our first visit to Roberto's. We went on a Thursday evening and did not have a problem getting a table for 4 quickly. The King Cake Bread Pudding is a must order if you have a sweet tooth!

Wonderful meal last night! The grits with bbq shrimp is a must and we had the catfish with ettoufe and finished off with bread pudding that was perfect! We will definitely be back!

The server Coco paid no attention to us. My wife's drink was empty for 30mins and wasn't refilled until Coco brought the check. When our entree was served the only thing hot was the fish. The potatoes, green beans, and sauce were cold. When we told Coco she took our plates and returned them with the pepper we put on originally was still there. When we asked Coco told us the food was freshly re-cooked. Before we left, we told the manager about the issues. She asked if we had already paid and when we told her we had she said "well I hope you all come back and give us another chance"

Still one of my go to's when I have finished pinning cows or working horses nearby. Great menu items and ice cold beer. Used to be a long-time LaPlace (family) grocery store and provides a nice, laid back good dinning experience for all who like to drive out to eat or drink. Not a muddy boots kind of place so please leave those in the truck.

Delicious! The atmosphere was great and the food was amazing. We drove 45 minutes on the recommendation of a friend and I can say it was totally worth the trip! I will be bringing my out of town family here for the perfect Louisiana experience. The service was wonderful. Thank you to our server Caroline. :)

Horrible experience, my coworkers and I weren’t even waited on and the restaurant wasn’t even that busy to where we couldn’t be waited on in a timely manner. My coworkers and I are here for a few weeks on archaeology business and Roberto’s was recommended to us. We were excited to finally get the time to check them out (while we were still located, here in the city). We were seated but not even offered a water. Forty minutes go by and the waitress/waiter still keeps walking past our table, just looking at us. I noticed that I was the only African American in that establishment and at that table and I’m not for sure if this was a racial incident or just pure lack of customer service. My coworkers and I were ready to spend a couple hundred on possibly great food and drinks but we never received any service so we left. More than likely will not be returning in the future,

Went with a small group. The service was excellent. Our food came out all together. Servant was the best. Now the food was delicious. Can’t wait to go back.

I ordered the special which was grouper. Either the “grouper” was of the lowest quality possible or they were not serving grouper. It was very thin and appeared to be tilapia. I expected better from a place I had such great memories of. I won’t be returning.

Always a great meal. There is usually a wait to be seated but the bar is nice and the staff does a really good job.

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover! Bert is a long time chef in the area with +30 years. This is his place where he delivered a great meal, fine dining food in a business casual atmosphere.

This place is definitely jumping. We got there 10 minutes before the place opened at 11am and the parking lot was already filling up. By the time we sat down the place was almost full before 1130. I had the catfish poboy and my friend had the hamburger steak. They were both very good and reasonably priced. Service was great also. Great place to eat. Highly recommended!

Absolutely a gem of a place with wonderful service and true Louisiana fare. Shrimp Roberto and bread pudding were highlights. Ask for the specials or just have the staff recommend their favorites. You will not be disappointed. Cocktails and wine were first class as well. Our server was exceptional. She really handled our group with grace and class. Fantastic attitude.

A true jewel way out in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately, I didn't discover it until 3 days before I left. But it's so good I ate there 3 times in those 3 days, and made sure the guy who was replacing me ate there also. I tried the grilled catfish over rice topped with crawfish etouffee; wagyu (!) steak with roasted potatoes, grilled shrimp and mushrooms; and fried striped bass topped with crab meat and shrimp. The Wagyu was without question the best steak meal I've ever eaten, and also one of the most expensive... normal meals are reasonably priced, but verify pricing on the specials if you're on a budget.

Crawfish creole was delicious, the restaurant is this old house probably from the late 1800s if I had to guess. The waitress was very sweet and attentive, the place was packed to the brim but the food still came out relatively quickly. Everyone enjoyed their food, big servings too.

I sat in with some friends and enjoyed the atmosphere, food and conversation. I would highly recommend for a wonderful meal. I didn't realize how much time had passed...🌞

Always delicious food here! My favorites: River Road Shrimp, Fried Green Tomatoes, Gumbo. If Redfish is on the menu, don't miss out on it~ Old converted house with unique & quaint decor; can be noisy when the dining room is at full volume. Nice selection of wines. (Try the Brutocao Quadriga!) No reservations.

One of my favorite restaurants. The food is always so good. My favorite is the River Road Shrimp appetizer in the bread bowl. It’s spicy but you just cannot quit eating it until the bread bowl is gone. They always have Flan on the dessert menu, which is my favorite. It’s so good! Try it if you never have, similar to creme brûlée but different.
