Best sushi and food ever. Highly recommend and ask for Nathan as your table attendant. We lots of diet restrictions and special requests and Nathan was informed, friendly and extremely helpful!

I eat out a lot and I've patronized this place for many years and they have never disappointed. Never! It amazed me when I find a restaurant that is consistently good. Many places get arrogant and can slack on service and quality, not here. Freshest sushi in town and the lunch box/bento box is a superb value and price for the quality and quantity of the dish. I recommend the eggrolls but order those first because they are handrolled to order and take about 30 minutes, but worth it and surprisingly priced well. Favorite sushi is shrimp Kodiak, spicy shrimp and dynamite roll. The shrimp lagoon appetizer is so good, the beef negima is awesome, gyoza delish and fried mixed tempura are my favorite appetizers. Just go check them out.

I want to give them 10 if possible. You can rarely find a sushi restaurant this good even in the largest cities such as NY and LA.

I have worked for the Higuchis for years and they treated me great over the time I spent with them making sushi alongside the likes of Nam Troung and Takahiro Higuchi-San himself. It was a wonderful experience and I wish it could have lasted longer but due to health reasons I was forced to resign. That being said the food is phenomenal and try some of the things on the secret menu like Pork Ramen, Natto Roll, Ankimo, and others just keep your ear ready while eating at the bar. If it is back open, yet. for more secrets lol. One more thing. Try tobiko with Cornish hen eggs sushi. Or the Uni shooter. If they still do those. And a great appetizer of hamachi kama which is seared cheek of the tuna fish. Trying to keep guchi and Bruce on their toes.

Had dinner here last Sunday. The SST Tuna was fresh and delicious. Husband had teriyaki steak that was excellent.

I dined here recently at the recommendation of a friend. Though the friend said that they were known for their teriyaki, I decided to go with multiple sushi rolls. The food was great, as was the service! I will definitely dine here again.

Enjoyed the take out I picked up very much. I like to find cuisine more authentic to my memories of port calls in the Western Pacific. Too bad they aren't open for lunch or I would get take out or delivery much more often. I wonder if they have considered a take out only crew for lunch?

This is the most consistently good sushi restaurant I’ve ever visited in my life, especially if you count its former incarnation Little Tokyo as one in the same…. Although not at the height of quality when it was once called Little Tokyo, the head chef of Sakura was trained by Little Tokyo’s former chef and proprietor, Tami San, and that legacy lives on.

The food preparation and artistry can be amazing. But the service, to me, can be kinda slow at times.

The service is great and though sometimes you may have to wait a few more minutes than you would want to it only builds the anticipation for how startlingly good the food really is. The flavor combinations are Paramount to the quality and presentation. Get ready to look at your friends and say "Let's come back tomorrow night."

Early Friday dinner. Nice waiter. Very slow kitchen. Took 1 hr to get 3 rolls. One roll contained spoiled tuna. They did not charge for it. So that was considerate. Covid protocols were in place.

Those cream cheese deep-fried wontons are pretty good. But the sushi tuna roll thingy, was out of sight!! I have NEVER enjoyed raw or cooked sushi, and I did not order it; a friend of mine did, but left it at my crib not once, but came back 30 mins later and still didn't take it. I gave it a try and it was like tasting food for the first time; and the food was sushi, AND IT WAS GREAT!! Don't have pictures or videos of my food, but let's face it, good food should be eaten, NOT PHOTOGRAPHED. You want to see the food, go order something. You won't regret it.

one of the best sushi places in the Jackson Metro area. It is a bit small inside and they stay busy. The food is top notch and worth the wait. Do not go here and expect to be in and out quickly if during peak times. As long as your not in a hurry I would say this is your spot.

They have great food but their Covid-19 protocols are lax. There were two people waiting at the front with no masks on and a man came walking through the restaurant with no mask. I won't be going back there until covid-19 is gone or below 2%.-

Great sushi restaurant. Ate here many times over the years. Can be a little pricy but worth every penny! Started off with the Sashimi dish. Three types of fish with three pieces of each. Super fresh & very tasty. Followed up with the Scorpion roll & Spicy Tuna roll. Fantastic. This restaurant never disappoints. Highly recommend a visit if you’re a sushi fan!

The place has changed names but has been around for over 26 years to my knowledge. I started eating sushi at 2 years old a memory I have with my mother. They have always had the best sushi. I eat at every Japanese place in the greater Jackson area and this one is still my favorite.

This is the only “true” Japanese restaurant in the Jackson area (and the only Zagat-rated Japanese restaurant in town) started and run for 30 years by immigrants from Japan. The volcano roll is awesome.

I have eaten at some of the elite sushi joints in L.A., Chicago, and Miami and this place is less expensive AND on par with any of them. Very consistent and high qualiity ...both the Nigiri and the rolls. The tempura and eel are particularly awesome i.m.o. salmon and tuna are great and so is the chicken teriyaki bento box. Really strong place.

Although the food looks good, the food is not fully cooked, which can cause some people to have diarrhea. Service attitude is very good!

Wonderful food, the best servers in JXN, and Gluten Free soy sauce for my sashimi. (Be careful about ordering rolls if you have to be GF, though; there can be hidden ingredients. Stick to sashimi/nigiri and soup/edamame and DON'T have the hot sake. I once had a serious reaction to it.)

To go order took a while but was worth the wait, and the food is reasonable compared to other sushi restaurants, very clean and the staff is very respectful

My order was taken quick and easy and i was treated very well. My drink was kept full at all times. The katsudon was very feeling and taste was wonderful. Chicken on top was nice and tender. Caterpillar roll was great with the katsudon and was wonderfully plated and the flavor was just heavenly with the creamy avocado and sauce on the side of the roll. All in all this is a wonderful place to have a lunch or dinner with friends and family .

The food here was very good. Our server was very helpful in making some suggestions on types of sushi matching our individual tastes. I wish I could remember the name of one of the rolls she suggested. It's one of their special rolls and it's amazing! If you're looking for sushi, you must check this place out.

After we were seated, it took 30 minutes or longer for the waitress to come back and take our order. And when she did finally come back, she realized she had forgotten about us. However, she was very apologetic. She may have been new. Now to the sushi. It was alright. My husband loves it here. But I’ve eaten better sushi at other places. There was one roll that I loved and that’s it. The others were just Ok to me.

We eat sushi all over the world. Sushi must be fresh and varied to be exceptional. Sakura Bana is owned and run by a Japanese family that knows and lives sushi. The choices and prices are very special. Service is good, parking adequate, ambiance is excellent. This restaurant has something for everyone in a family. The alcohol selection is appropriate and reasonably priced. Uni, toro, anagi, anago, etc are some of the treasures found.

We eagerly anticipated our visit to Sakura Bana after several long-time Jacksonians encouraged us to try the Jackson “Insider place” for Sushi. We ordered several rolls with different types of fish, so our selections were diverse, but utterly devoid of flavor. If 2.5 was an option, that would be my rating.

Crowded and slow service at lunch but good food.

This food is terrible. I eat fresh sashimi all over the world including Japan. I can't even tell you how much bad white rice is added to each "roll" and the fish is not fresh but covered in various sauces to hid that I'm sure. The fact that it gets 4-5 starts means people in MS don't know what good fish. AVOID sashimi in Jackson, Mississippi period. I'll never be back. I gave them a 2 because the people are really nice.

The food is delicious, fresh, and presented beautifully. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is inviting, and one could have a business meeting, family gathering, or meal for one in this all-around great restaurant.

We come here often, especially for the nigiri. Great, fresh fish, cool decor and atmosphere. All the wait staff are super friendly and experienced.

Nice presentation, awesome customer service, very reasonably priced. Downfall is they don't give you complimentary soup or salad like other sushi places. Our server asked if we'd like soup and salad so we said yes, little did we know that we'd be charged for it. Overall still a good experience, we'll definitely be back.

I have been coming here for 15 years. It is my go to for sushi. You just cant go wrong. It is small, but staff is nice and food is incredible.

Yummy food ... and I go at least monthly or more often. Consistently good food. In fact, I have never once had a "bad" experience in this restaurant. Every server does a great job. The shiitake mushrooms are a "YES"; the steamed gyoza is my favorite.

The service here is outstanding and I love the decor. The food is fine, but nothing extraordinary. I found the sushi that I had (California roll and bagel roll) was fairly tasteless. The miso soup was good, the salad dressing was not a favorite, the tempura was okay, and the chicken teriyaki was pretty good. For the price and based on past reviews, I was expecting a little more.

Sakura Bana was the first sushi bar in Jackson. It has remained consistently good and continues to be my favorite. The atmosphere is OK...nothing fancy. Be sure to try the Night Special, Blue Crab roll and the Caterpillar Roll.

Far and away the best in JXN and MS. That doesn't sound like much right..sushi in MS.?!? Sakura Bana is a hidden gem, it would be a GO TO in any city. I have enjoyed sushi at high end Japanese restaurants from CA to NY, Sakura Bana is the real deal. Longtime owners are Japanese and the Nissan plant is minutes away. Authenticity is assured. Excellent!

I had eaten at this place when it was called Little Tokyo about two decades ago. I was in Jackson and decided to eat again to bring back some good memories. It was good but wasn't as fantastic as it once was. I went simple with Beef Teriyaki/Tempora Bento Box, California rolls, Squid Sushi, and yakitori. The rice was dryer than it should have been and the Squid was old. However the beef, tempora, and yakitori were good. The house saled is outstanding with its special dressing. Worth a trip sure but seems the quality control has gotten lax. I went to Little Tokyo in North Jackson a few days later and found magic again.

Some of the food we had was really good. The service though was very subpar. We waited a while to even be greeted and seated, the staff barely spoke English and had a hard time communicating details about the menu. We then waited about 35 minutes after ordering for the food to come out.

We were seated by the host after waiting 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. We were then seated at the bar and weren't given menus. 5-10 minutes later we just grabbed our own menus. We waited a ridiculously long time to order and the waitress didn't speak much English and had a hard time articulating what the different menu items were and how much longer our food will be. The food was ok. Yummy but dry. My boyfriend and I ordered food and I waited about 25-30 minutes for my food and then another 20 minutes for his food (I was already done with my food for about 5 minutes before his came.) This place is definitely not worth the wait. I won't ever be back here.

Outside of Japan, and in Jackson, this is my favorite Japanese style restaurant. They're always busy at dinner so, go early or wait. The service is always on point. They have a great, fresh sushi menu. I was delighted the last time I went in to see a bottle of sweet potato shōchū on their bar shelf!

We had lunch on a Saturday. the place was packed. The sushi was very good. There were many unique rolls and the ones we tried were very good. Avoid the side salad (just iceberg with a glob of heavy dressing) Service was slow.

Everytime I've been to Sakura Bana, or go to pick up take out, I'm never disappointed. Yes they may take a little while on the order, but have you seen how many people are there at any given point in time? You will understand why it takes a little longer. My go to favorites are the Salmon Nigiri, Sakura roll (outstanding), and the blue crab roll and maybe an Eel roll on those special occasions. Pricey, but it's worth it.
