Overpriced. Small portions. Sushi falls apart. Terrible quality. Bad environment. Don't come here. I don't see how they got top anything in this town. This place is terrible.

Great food, price and service!! Definitely recommend trying this restaurant for a phenomenal experience.

We moved from out of state and this is the best Sushi we have found so far. This is our go-to Sushi spot.

I had lunch today at Sakura. My mother ordered the salmon, and it came with a gray color, and a strong fishy smell. It tasted horribly. I complained about it and my mother never touched the fish. I was charged the full price for the fish. Also, the sushi had a very weird taste and flavor. I ordered a Philadelphia roll and the fish tasted old. Disgusting experience and I will never come back. There is no management in this restaurant. Horrible experience.

Good people. Very good food. Not overwhelmed by the "special" sushi. Every other aspect of our experience was worth the trip across the river. BTW I had the special chirashi. (No pics because I'm a diner not a reviewer).

I tried both the regular chirashi and the upgraded premium one on two different visits. I have been to Japan, Korea, and Taiwan and thus know about good sushi. I must say that their so-called premium fish wasn't worth the extra expense. The regular one tasted better than the premium. One thing worth mentioning: the premium tuna is supposed to be fattier and thus lighter color. My premium tuna pieces looked lighter color on the top, but when I picked up a piece, I noticed that only the tip was fattier, and the larger nonfattier side was hidden, as shown in the picture. Felt like cheated. It is a decent restaurant otherwise considering that they offer a wide variety of dishes and yes it is on the expensive side. Will think twice before going back there again.

The BEST sushi I've found in ABQ, hands down! I just really wish they would do something about their wine list... it is truly painful to read. Barefoot riesling is the "best" wine offering they have. I end up drinking a beer when we go but a nice wine with their amazing quality sushi would be so much better.

Went there a couple of weekends ago to celebrate birthdays with my family. Great friendly service from everyone there. The food was really good, great portions and nice atmosphere too. Very enjoyable!

We came in about 1:00 PM on a weekday, and were seated immediately. Our server was very professional, prompt, courteous, and friendly. We really enjoyed the food and quiet ambience. We'll be back!

The only restaurant for me. Anything else, my hubby can make better at home. We’ve been going to Sakura Sushi and Grill for years, and they’ve never disappointed us. My personal favorite is the Double Salmon Roll.its perfection 😋

Dinner date in the early evening. This restaurant gets busy fast, so plan to wait. I am not sure if they take reservations. Opened with a salad and soup and finished with sushi and hot stone bowl of Bibimbap. Everything was delicious, I definitely did not expect the sushi menu to be extensive. I plan to try other rolls that seem to be the local flavor. Great service with clean restrooms.

Baked lobster roll and scallop roll were delicious and the staff (Ryan) was amazing!, went back and loved it again, lemon roll was fantastic and our server Ryann was again second to none as a professional server!

Sakura used to have great sushi. It had been about 3 months since I last went. This time the Sushi rolls were so small. They were smaller than the size of a roll of quarters. I was very disappointed. On top of everything prices were up. Not worth it anymore.

I drove all the way from the foothills only to find a sign on the door that said that they were closed at 9:30 and orders stop at 9, despite their hours saying they close at 10:00. When I peaked my head inside, I was rudely told that they were closed. This has been my favorite restaurant for years but I have been continuously disappointed in the last couple of years with the change in management. I will not be going out of my way to come here anymore

They close and lock the doors at 2:30, 30 minutes before they are supposed to close for lunch. I called to place a to go order since 2:30 and no answer. Arrived around 2:50 and doors were locked. Probably won't be coming back. Food is amazing but service is trash.

Weird! Soda went all over the table! Turns out there was a vertical crack in the glass! Napkin stunck like mildew. Mgr blamed new laundry service. Food was good, but too many weird things distracted me. I don't plan on returning.

Sadly, the quality and creativity is not there anymore. Fish and rolls are bland, just standard fair now. I guess for a land locked state it's still ok, but unfortunate to see this place go from great to mediocre

Food is fantastic but $2 to add a few slivers of a carrot to a xucumber is ridiculous...jyst b3cause it is the best sushi in town does. Ot mean be greedy with some carrots...and the lady trying to justify it really bothered me..she because they are the best in town..that xarrot better of been grown by peter rabbit himself..literally 1/100 of a carrot for $2. Not listed under $2 add ons in menu..i can see a sauce or avocado or something but really a careot one of the cheap veggies.. Other than that the food and servce is great. So 4 stars for the argument over a carrot price becaus3 that was horrible .

Tucked away in a strip mall, the restaurant was fairly busy when we arrived. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the bibimbap and it was terrific. The owner came by our table to make sure we had enjoyed our meal. Would definitely eat here again!

I wanted sushi for my birthday dinner and after reading several reviews, we chose to try Sakura. I'm so glad we did. Definitely a 5-star experience in every category. The sushi rolls were the best I've had in Albuquerque.

What can I say? This is my happy place! Upon entering, we were greeted warmly and led to our table. Our hostess took our drink order and our server was friendly and helpful and not stingy with the smiles. I ordered the chirashizushi with an upgrade to the premium fish, my daughter, a first timer to sushi, ordered the shrimp tempura crunch roll. We also ordered shrimp and vegetable tempura for starters. The tempura arrived, nicely plated and delicious. Our entrees arrived and looked absolutely beautiful. A delightful surprise was the fresh grated wasabi which I thought to be hard to get in the states not to mention Albuquerque! My daughter took one bite and absolutely fell in love with her meal and promptly ordered another roll, mentioning to our server that she loved the crunchy topping. Her second roll arrived but with extra crunchy topping as requested by our server. Our meal was finished with a cup of cinnamon tea, nicely sweetened and served cold! I'm so taken with Sakura and cannot wait to go back!!!

You'd better get there early. I arrived before 2:30, wanted to order takeout, and was told they're closed -- Last Call was at 2:30! They must set their clocks ahead. Bad customer service:( Too bad, I wanted to support local. Last Call to take my hard earned cash out of my wallet!

A real gem in the neighborhood! I decided to dine solo last night and had the most lovely experience! I went at 6:30 and all of the tables were taken… a good sign that this was a popular sushi restaurant! I sat at the bar and the service was excellent. I ordered edamame which was served with miso soup. Both were hot and fresh! I had the American Dream roll 💙 it came out perfect! I will be back!!! Great takeout too!!! Packaged nicely! 🍱

You simply cannot put a price on a good dining experience. I enjoyed the casual vibe that the restaurant had - everybody was having a good time. Our cook in particular seemingly went out of his way to give us a good experience, talking to us and playing little games as he cooked. Aside from those in my party, we also ate with a small family who had two kids and they couldn't get enough of our cook who kept making them laugh, and in turn, kept us in our high spirits. I will come back again, because these types of dining experiences don't just leave your stomach full, but leave your heart full as well.

The sushi was tasty and I liked their creative rolls (the ABQ roll was delicious!), but my husband and I felt rushed. We ordered 4 rolls and explained we may order more food, but we were brought our check before we even finished the rolls we ordered. The waitress seemed surprised when we wanted to order more food, even though we already asked to keep a menu to order more but were told we couldn’t keep the menu. While we were able to get more food, we didn’t feel like we could leisurely eat. We went on a Wednesday right when they opened, so over half the tables were empty.

Amazing food and super service! And it's not a secret because they had a pretty hoppin' dinner service for a Monday night.

Sakura always has the best service and food. Our son was crying so we left for a few minutes until he calmed down and the owner saved our place in line and brought our food out very quickly. We always receive the best service here!

Nice atmosphere, clean environment, friendly wait staff. I never remember that sushi tends to be a bit pricey, until it's too late. The wasabi paste was a bit salty, but everything else was delicious. I had the lunch B meal with the firecracker roll.

Very good sushi on the Westside. It may be the best sushi in town. I like that they give you the opportunity to upgrade to premium fish. Most sushi places use the cheapest ingredients possible and try to pass it off as quality.

We went for sushi rolls and it was really fantastic. We definitely plan on going back sometimes. I forget our server's name, but I thought she was very kind. Our appetizer food was hot and fresh, the soup was wonderful, and it was all around a very enjoyable experience. I can't wait to go back.

Ive been here a few times. The sushi here is pretty good, however the prices have gone up quite a bit over the last two years. In the recent months I have not enjoyed dining here at all. The servers rush you throughout the entire meal. They rushed us to order and brought the check before we were finished eating. To say the least, this made it hard to relax and enjoy a meal with friends.

Would give a zero if possible. We called in reservation for 12. After ordering it took over an hour to bring out food. Our server was very rude and once our food arrived they began to rush us out. 20 minutes after bringing our food they began to clean our table while we were still seated. When we spoke to the owner, she was rude and didn’t seem to care. Our table spent over $500. I will not be going back and will spread the word about their rudeness. Also items were pricey and sushi rolls were very slim.

Atmosphere is very nice! Our server was super kind and helpful! Food is amazing! We started with the monkey brain appetizer. That set the stage for the rest of the dinner. It was very delicious and flavorful. If you're looking to try an appetizer don't think twice about the monkey brain. I asked if I should go with the American Dream roll or the Dragon roll, without any hesitation our waitress recommend the American Dream roll. She did not steer me wrong. It was great! My fiancé had teriyaki chicken with fried rice. It too tasted really good. The kids had the California roll and it was very fresh. After dinner they brought out some tea for us. We enjoyed our dinner! We'll come back to try other food for sure. Highly recommend eating here.

They have excellent chefs working the grill, preparing entres & sushi rolls. They know how to sear the flavor into meat, veggies, and plate a very nice dish. The servers are courteous and attentive. Several flavors of rice wine (Sake) too! Very easy to spend $35/person, because the food and service at Sakura's is worth it!

Really tasty baked salmon & baked lobster rolls 🤤 decent edamame, but their prices are quite a bit higher than what they have listed on their website (weeks after I first mentioned this, they still haven't updated their website, which seems a bit misleading..). Last night (Saturday 10/8/22) they wouldn't take my order at 7p when they didn't close until 10p (and are closed on Sundays) due to being busy & short staffed 🤷🏾‍♀️

HTF this place has 4.7 stars, I have no clue. I’ll admit I’ve only eaten at a Japanese restaurant a handful of times but everything at this place tasted like it was cooked in dirty dishwater. The noodles were mushy and gross. The gas station down the street has better egg rolls. Spouts or Albertsons sushi is better two days after it was made. Hey… what do I know?

How can a restaurant that closes at 10:00 p.m. refuse to take a tiny order for two sushi rolls at 7:22 p.m. on a saturday?? Went from five stars down to three 😑 FRUSTRATING

Great sushi, I believe it's the best in town. Plus I appreciate they almost always have specialty items like uni, yellow tail belly, big eye tuna, and others.

After going to Sakura on a regular basis for years now, we are sad to say that last night was our last "meal" there.  Our server Ryan was friendly upon our arrival, but after we placed our order, he did not return until after our meals were brought out by another server.  He asked us how everything looked, and then never returned.  We had yet to try the food. Upon trying our 3 signature rolls and entree, it was not the fresh, firm fish that we have been accustomed to having here.  The soup was tasteless and vegetables sour. We sat and waited to get our server's attention, but got tired of waiting.  We were quite hungry from our busy work days, and we're ready to nourish ourselves.  Disgusting.  Save the $100 bucks and go elsewhere.  I hate seeing quality go down the drain with the increase in goods, but we would have gladly paid more for quality, good food. To top it all off, it was brought to the owner's attention and she only offered to replace the one entree.  We had wallets out, jackets on, and were ready to go at this point.  We told her we were "just ready to go." We declined but she insisted on replacing the meal.  I signed and agreed and clearly asked for it "to go."  We should have just left money on the table and left because this was the icing on the cake.  She brought the replacement out to be eaten there.  We specifically said "to go." We had waited there long enough. Poor experience all around and it has left us both with a bad taste in our mouth in more ways than one.  A very sad experience.

Very slow service. We waited about an hour before we got our meal. We were a table of 7, however. Others seemed to receive faster service. Food was okay, but not remarkable.

I'm not a west-sider, but wanted to take a friend for sushi in the area. Sakura was well-reviewed and I can see why! The fish was fresh and rolls were delicious. Nothing stayed on the presentation plates long enough to photograph. I will definitely be back.

Very poor customer service. Ordered 3 meals from here to go. The first time they left one out. We were understanding and returned for the meal they left out. They then forgot to give us the rice which is the main part of the meal next to the steak. The steak was over cooked and chicken undercooked. Very frustrating then they told us to just return another time and they would replace the meals for free. Decided we would try again. When I returned and explained the situation the woman at the front refused to give me a lunch portion which is what we had originally ordered. She wanted to charge for dinner portion even though she had a note taped to her counter explaining what had happened previously. Very frustrating until a man came from the back they argued a bit and he finally decided to allow a lunch portion and not force a dinner one. He gets 5 stars. When she handed me my food she was not nice about it and we probably won’t even eat it, not sure what she did to it when she went back to get 🤦🏻‍♀️. I recommend driving to El Paso for the Hibachi experience.

Ordered the Crunchy Roll. The shrimp tempura was cold and slimy. All the Sushi tasted old and stale. Very expensive! Service was slow. Sorry it was the Crunch Roll under Sakura's Signature Rolls on the left side of the menu.

Wouldn't hurt to let people know you are closed for vacations. It's not that hard to update your website.

Small family owned restaurant. Decent sushi. Not the best on town but also good for being in New Mexico.

I ordered the double salmon roll which was fantastic. The customer service was also great, and accommodating when I asked for lemons to put on my edamame. My only issue here though was my edamame looked dirty, which made it somewhat unpleasant to eat. Aside from that the rest of the experience was good.

2022 award for best sushi in Albuquerque. We have eaten here consistently for years and it has always been excellent.
