Server was slow and disappeared multiple times. It was a Saturday around 2ish? Skinny margs were outrageously pricey and did not taste or feel anything from it.

We have been regulars at San José for 8 years. Family owned restaurant that has the best Mexican food from my perspective. They have an extensive menu, and everything we have tried has been great. Highly recommend the Molcajete for one or two people.

Terrible service, mediocre food. Our sever was rude and inattentive. The food was OK but definitely not worth the price for the wait, rude service, and experience. The other staff members seemed friendly. We had to ask others to help get us refills, find our server for food, find our server for the check. Our party of two took almost 1.5 hours. The table next to us, party of 5 sat down well after us, had their food, had service, paid and left before us. Our server made rude comments, argued about a side item in the menu and acted like we were bothering him as soon as we sat down. We certainly won’t be back and won’t be recommending this restaurant. There are plenty of quality Mexican restaurants within a short drive from here.

Awesome meals and tasty Margaritas!! Great service

We absolutely loved this place. The salsa and chips were great. Very good salsa. We had good quick service. We ate here about 2 o’clock on Tuesday and it happened to be taco Tuesday. I ordered a chicken bacon quesadilla and my wife ordered a chimichanga. We also ordered seven tacos. The waitress Emily was friendly, rapid and efficient. The staff seem to work together very well helping each other for a good experience for everyone.

We love, love this restaurant! The waiters and food are excellent. Our family frequents this place on Sunday afternoons. It's fabulous for bigger groups and good food. The only difficulty is the volume. For those of us who have difficulty hearing group conversations in public, this place can be a challenge. However, there are options that help: booths and outdoor seating (not ideal if you're heat sensitive in the summertime, but it is an option. Our family eats vegan, and we are able to find options easily to fit our diet. We need to request no dairy (cheese or sour cream) in beans or pico de gallo, but that's simple to do. The delicious Mexican food makes the wait, the seating, and the struggle with hearing worth the visit!!

Hi, keep in mind I have kept this review hidden away for 2 months because I thought maybe it was unfair. And I was wrong. I try again. Go to the restaurant during mid day to try and get a new experience. We end up with the SAME girl and let’s just say I’m not going back and this needs to be known about. I don’t want anyone else to be disappointed. May, 24’ San Jose used to be a restaurant that I’d go to, with my family to enjoy authentic Mexican food. Today I realized how times have changed. My husband and I go into the restaurant excited to eat and we get sat outside, where we most enjoy sitting. This younger woman was our waitress and she must have been new. She didn’t tell us her name upon greeting us and just asked if we wanted drinks. Let’s call her blonde one that stands out. When she came back with the drinks we ordered the queso but we weren’t ready to order our entrées. She came back with the queso 5 minutes later and we order the taco salad and a fajita dish. As she left taking our order, we tried the queso and it was ice cold. So we waited for her to come back and check on us but instead we sat waiting 10 minutes for her to come back to our table, even though we saw her picking up checks from empty tables and standing at the pos station. But the great thing is, we had to yell out “excuse me miss!” to get her attention since she walked past us to go inside after looking at us while clearing checks from empty tables. We felt forgotten about and ignored. She then apologizes for the queso being cold and says “I’ll go heat it up for you” rather than offering a new one or even asking if we wanted it off our bill. We got the new queso and chips and held on to the little bit of hope we had that the experience would get better once our main food came out. The taco salad and fajitas came out and the plate of the taco salad was warm, but the actual food itself wasn’t. My husbands food was well prepared though, so that’s the only plus I can give for this whole thing. I had gone to the restroom, but my husband was in the middle of eating and our waitress comes up to him and says “hey so you guys are the last table I have tonight. So do you think I could give you the check early to you know? If not it’s okay just let me know.” He was dumbfounded by what she had just said. After the service she has given us this whole time, she wants the check in the middle of us eating our food so she can get her tip and clock out for the night. To just let you know it was 7:50 pm, and they close at 9 pm. To see how the restaurant industry has changed so much over the years just leaves you disappointed. The service was unacceptable and I will never be coming back to this location again. I hope no one else gets the same service that we had to deal with.

The food here is watered down.. I am soooo disappointed in my last few visits.. guac is so wet it’s like water.. queso so wet it’s like warm milk.. please stop cutting corners guys.. u will lose a few good customers Frfr.. imma give u one more shot.. if it’s terrible.. imma blast it in social media 7$ for lettuce and tomato ..and some watery guac.. please save your time and money.. this place is soooooo bad..

My family and I love it here. The food is amazing whether we dine in or get take out ! Tacos are great , Fajita's and the drinks are all also worth the try .

The amount of food you get for the price is great. The ribeye may not be the best grade but the seasoning made it better. Overall recommend if around the area and craving some Tex-Mex.

Always a pleasure to eat here. Food is good, service is good and we love the atmosphere. Dining outside during nice weather is also a great experience. Oh, and the skinny margaritas are delicious. We are regulars at this San Jose.

Cute place, we went on a Sunday afternoon when they weren't very busy. The food was pretty good but the service was definitely lacking. From beginning to end our server just was never around and took forever to come say hello, then to take our order, then to get our food, and they had to hunt him down to get our check. We ended up being there almost two and a half hours, for a simple lunch.

Slower service, it was mother's day so can be expected to a point but the restaurant was not half full when we went. One order was wrong, but was fixed very quickly.

I would have given 5 stars, except our waiter disappeared for extended periods of time, Had he paid some attention, we would have ordered another drink and desert. But that’s the waiter, The food was excellent and the portions were great for the price, Next time I’m in the area, we will definitely consider San Jose and will ask for a different server,

We used to go here every Friday afternoon for lunch. No longer. The "steak" fajitas are tasteless and mainly chunks of fat..... The prices. THE PRICES!!! You people just raised your prices by at least 30% on everything.... This was our place, but we can't any longer. Hopefully you can figure this out... For now, we'll head to Vallartas

The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is decent, with outside seating available. The food depends on the day.

San Jose Mexican Restaurant impressed me very much. I had camarones mojo, ajo ( a schrimp dinner). The schrimp was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The rice and accompanying salad were freshly prepared. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. My only objection is the service can be improved. I asked the server to bring out my meal after I am finished with my appetizer (so it wouldn’t sit and get cool). While enjoying my appetizer my meal was brought out and sat there. It made me feel rushed: the restaurant wasn’t busy. I gave a preference for my beverage that was ignored. However I enjoyed the experience thanks to the good chef running the kitchen. I highly recommend San Jose Mexican Restaurant you wouldn’t be disappointed.

Our amazing server Andrès let us know, they prepare almost everything in house daily. You can taste it when you eat there, one of our favorite local spots. My dish of Camorna A la Diablo was great as usual, but my wife on the other hand not so good , she had the steak salad bowl and became very sick , lettuce may need better cleaning ,

My husband took our family out for diner to San Jose Mexican Restaurant on a Saturday night. Everyone was really nice since we first walked into the door. Our server Andres was so attentive and kind 👌🏼 The grilled chicken was quite tasty and the carne asada was alright. My kids also enjoyed the quesadilla and cheese burger. We also loved their fried ice cream 😋 I’d definitely recommend this place 👌🏼

Been here about 4 or 5 times now. The staff there are so friendly and the food is fantastic. My boyfriend and I come here about every other week. When someone suggests they want to go out for great Mexican food, we always say “San Jose!”

Every dish, even the chips and salsa, unexpectedly impressed us. Even the horchata was on another level. It felt like each dish and drink was upgraded to perfection. Throughout our experience we kept saying, "This is so good." The interior design of the place is artful and kept squeaky clean. This was our first visit but it's undeniably number one on our list for Mexican food.

Food is pretty consistent. That said, the service is all over the place. They are frequently understaffed and handle it by simply ignoring tables. It’s getting to the point that this place will not be on our list any longer

La verdad nada que ver con la comida mexicana, pedí unos tacos aparte de súper caros 5$ Cada taco, la tortilla horrible, pedí la tortilla de maíz y me los trajeron de harina de trigo, estaban tiesas, no le agregan la cantidad normal de proteínas, y muy mala atencion, no voy más ni que me regalen la comida, ni lo recomiendo!

A pathetic excuse to be called Mexican cuisine. So called "ribeye steak" very over done like shoe leather and bland. Server said they can't make it medium or medium rare. All ribeyes made 'well done early in the day', basically precooked. Rice and beans tasted microwaved and not seasoned properly. Waste of money, steak not edible. Never again.

My wife, I and my (non-service dog) visited this location on 11-08-23 at 17:00. I asked a man (who appeared) to be a manager if they had outside seating where my dog could sit with us (as we were traveling and didn’t want to leave him in the car). This man was super accommodating and even raised the umbrella over the table for us. A separate waiter came and took our order. I included and explained clearly that I wanted to order a cheeseburger with no bun for our dog to eat. The drinks and appetizers came and were fantastic. The food came and quickly there after the cheeseburger arrived. The food was fantastic. My wife cut the cheeseburger up for our dog and I placed it and the glass plate that it was served to us on, upon the concrete so that our dog could enjoy his cheeseburger. All was going great. We were all enjoying our food, when the original person that seated us came out to check on us. Again, he appeared to be a manager. He was “super” unhappy that I had place this plate on the concrete for the dog to eat off of. My wife and I were a bit taken aback by this. I asked if they washed each plate after each use and what did it matter that our dog was eating a cheeseburger off it. A cheeseburger that we were gladly paying for. He explained that basically the service ware was for humans/people and not animals. I explained that the waiter knew full well that the burger was for the dog and that if the animal eating off of the service ware was an issue, then he could have easily brought the burger out in a to-go box. I told this person who appeared to be a manager that if he would get me a to-go box, that I would gladly transfer the remaining burger to it and give him back his plate. He did get me a to-go box. I did transfer the remaining burger to it. As I handed him his plate, i told him to insure that he washed the plate or throw it away as it was clear by is demeanor that he did not approve of my dog eating off of it. He promptly walked 3 feet to the outside trash can and threw the plate away. I’m sure this was his way of showing disapproval of my actions that evening. He only lost 1 customer and 1 plate that evening. It’s a real shame. I felt that I was completely transparent with who was eating and what we were eating. Maybe his policy of no animals eating off of plates hadn’t made it to the wait staff. It could have been handled very differently. We would have gladly fed the dog out of a to-go box had it been served that way. Not the case. My rating of 1 star is solely base on this man’s actions. The food was great. The wait staff was great. This manager became childish and he lacked the ability to read a situation and manage it in a professional manner. Still a great eating establishment. Just be careful stopping here if you are traveling with or considering eating outside with your family pets.

Unfortunately, there was nothing special about this place. The food was just ok. For a Mexican restaurant, the food was actually kind of bland. The salsa had no kick at all. My husband and I ordered steak fajitas for 2 and they were the same as in similar restaurants. They were actually a little skimpy on the guac and pico. The restaurant is dark inside with grey booths and dark tables. The best thing about this place was the service. Our waitress checked on us several times throughout our visit and she was friendly.

If you’re looking for a spot for taco Tuesday or in the mood for Mariachi’s on a Friday night, this is your spot! Incredible food! Highly recommend the Burrito Bandera or the Taco tour! Can’t say enough about the staff, the owner, and all the people that make this establishment great! Drinks will make you feel good all night and the food will leave you satisfied! Another update: Been several times since previous updates. Working around the menu, but last night (Saturday) went for the tried-and -true fajita shrimp salad/taco. So good. Place was pretty empty for a Saturday at 8pm, dunno what was up with that. Seated immediately, which I won't complain about! Update: If you get a craving to eat a taco bowl, well you can't go wrong here. Had thr Fajita Shrimp Taco this time, and there were a ton of huge perfectly grilled shrimpies in a giant fried taco bowl. I was in heaven. Left in a wheelbarrow. So full. Very good! Left stuffed, and cheaper than most of our other haunts... recommend the chimichanga, and the fishbowl :)

I am a very strict vegetarian and have been for over a year. When seated at the restaurant, I was very excited to see they had an entirely vegetarian menu. I ordered a mushroom and pepper quesadilla meal. The quesadilla tasted great, but hidden inside of it were two chunks of beef. I immediately spit it out and noticed there was more meat inside of the quesadilla. Had I accidentally swallowed the meat, I could have gotten violently ill. I was incredibly upset when I realized what I had eaten.

Chicken tacos are absolutely delicious, churros were amazing! Great value on taco Tuesday!!! Watch out- The salsa has a little kick! Server was fantastic!!!

Stopped in for lunch with my sister. We ordered nachos and Margareta's. The food was very fresh and delicious. The Margareta's were made from scratch (not a powder or mix). They were so so good. The restaurant was very clean and bright inside allowing sunlight in. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend it.

Amazing food. I have been here multiple times. Service was off a bit my last time as I waited to cash out for over 10 minutes while with my kids at the counter. Apparently, the waiter lost my Check an was looking for it before just re ring my order in.

The Steak portion was very small and flavorless on my burrito bowl , for $16 it was a overpriced for what came on the plate. Nice to sit outside and listen to the fountain though

Don't waste your time reading the reviews from longer than 3 months ago. This place is has changed for the worse! The manager sat us at our table and just tossed down the menus and silverware then promptly walked away. My wife and I ordered the tex mex style chicken burritos and our son ordered a chicken quesadilla. My wife also ordered a margarita. The tex Mex burritos consisted of a plate of (what appeared to be) canned refried beans, lettuce, and tomatoes accompanied by a small skillet of (what tasted like) 2 day old rubbery room temperature chicken strips. My son's quesadilla had shredded chicken enveloped in a soggy tortilla shell. We all gave it the "ol college try" and took one bite. That was more than enough. It tasted like gas station food. We kindly told the manager who basically said everything was fresh and that's how it tastes. We paid the full bill ($60) and tipped the waitress (it's not her fault) leaving everything on the table except the chicken, which we brought home for our teenager (who didn't eat it either). My wife cooked us a nice meal when we got home. The food is awful. We won't be back!

We had fun spending Cinco de Mayo here. Food and service was good.

So good. Way better than Vallarta's, in my opinion. Love the outdoor seating. Service is always great. We visit every couple weeks really. Also, we order "To Go", too. Their chips & salsa are delicious, as is all the food. And that fried ice cream. Yum! My only feedback is -You can tell the place is clean & disinfected - that is the first thing you smell when you enter.

Disappointed in the food. The fish tacos were served without Chipotle and when brought to management’s attention I was told they ran out. No offer was made to address the issue. At the end of the meal when I explained my disappointment I was told that they just didn’t have any made but that they had since made some so other customers won’t have the same experience. No offer was made to discount my meal. The service was disappointing. The shrimp were cooked to perfection though..

Sweet spot to eat, atmosphere is lovely, music is nice and food is quite the treat. Just had a salad with shrimp 🍤🍤🍤 And wow there were a lot of shrimp in my salad. Generous amount of everything (but I do recommend if you have any salad to add a sauce with it...feels kinda try without, or do more ask for more avocado) overall I would definitely recommend. !!!!! :)))

Came in last night with the husband after work the place was full when we got there around 5pm. Sat at the bar for a few minutes waiting for a table then got seated outside on patio. I got the Steak fajitas and a wonderful margarita made by our server Stephanie. Tip: ask for an extra shot of tequila in house margarita. Husband got Fajitas San Jose, he loved it. Service was prompt and Drinks were amazing.

This is the worst meal I had ever eaten. This is not original Mexican cuisine. Don’t waste your money and time.

It was decent, just missing than oomph! We got the lunch chicken and steak fajitas, with a small queso, chips and salsa. Cons: Cheese dip was runny, the drinks were flat, food needed more seasoning. Pros: The food was quick, or server was beyond helpful, the music selection was good.

Food was better the last time we came. Tortillas were tough in the enchiladas refried beans looked and tasted anemic.

We did not like this place. Our server was great, but Mr. Gustavo, the owner, is all over the place and overwhelming. My margarita glass was chipped, and I brought it to his attention, but he blew me off and said he'll get back to me and never came back. I finally got our server to respond, and she brought me a fresh margarita. When our dinner arrived, my husband wanted the red sauce to go over his burrito. I waved to Mr. Gustavo and he said ok but continued setting the table for the large party of 10-12 people and never came back or asked about the margarita or the red sauce. Once again, he blew us off. BUT....when it was time to pay....who was at our table??? Mr. Gustavo!!!! I couldn't believe it. But earlier, he was all around our table, standing nearby and could have asked how was our food, he could have apologized for not responding to us earlier, not getting someone to help us, due to him being busy. But here he comes NOW to collect! The food was not all that great! Don't waste your time, money, or effort eating at this place. Our first time and DEFINITELY our last!!

My boyfriend went to pick up our food after ordering a take out order and watched our food sit on the counter for 30 minutes before it was finally handed to him. He also witnessed people that had been waiting to be put on the list for a table had been passed up by people that came in later. The staff were just walking around non-chalantly while the manager seemed to be trying to run the whole place by himself. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because when reheated at home the flavor was good besides being soggy.

Service was a little slow but very friendly. Restaurant got busy very quickly at 5 pm so it was hectic for the servers. Food was the usual Mexican fare and tasted good. The Margeritas were great!

San Jose had amazing food in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed a perfect Florida day on the outdoor patio. The Mexican music creates the ideal ambience for enjoying the delicious food. The chips and authentic fresh salsa were a welcome touch while we waited for our food. We will return!

Waited two hours for a 35 minute take out order. When. We got home, the food was either overly cooked for freezing cold and by cold I mean they just pulled it from the freezer pre made. Safe to say, we will not be going back there.
