Coconut French toast: soooooo delicious. Even more memorable than the French toast: our server Angel. What a nice young man who has a ready smile and is very personable with the patrons. I’m still smiling thinking about our interactions with him.

Me & my significant other went in to get lunch & hadn’t realized we walked in just 15 minutes before they closed. We felt bad & apologized and planned to take our food to go, but our waitress was so kind and assured us we were fine. If you’re looking for a quick bite & some stellar service, I would absolutely recommend coming to Sanibel Cafe! Thank you for being so kind

This is my first restaurant review but I could hardly wait to get home to leave a review as my lunch was outstanding! I ordered the shrimp salad expecting a small portion of shrimp on a piece of lettuce. Instead I got a large portion of seasoned just right shrimp on a bed of chopped lettuce (so I could actually eat it.) Along with this came a delicious fruit muffin and good sized portions of 8 different very fresh fruits: blueberries, raspberries, watermelon, honeydew melon, mandarin oranges, strawberries, apples and cantaloupe. Seriously wish I could eat there every day. Thanks, Sanibel Cafe, for the excellent meal!

This place is outstanding. The restaurant was very clean and well lit. Our server, Angel (based on Receipt) was very pleasant and responsive. The food portions were great, the prices were where they should be, and everything was delicious. We will definitely be back. Great work Sanibel Cafe. Side Note: The mugs are made by a local potter named David. He does beautiful work and was the kindest soul imaginable. You should seriously consider supporting both Sanibel Cafe and David. Clean, great service, and best of all, delicious food! Their “Rusty Pelican” will change your life! Lol! All the food is yummy, though. An Island tradition! A MUST VISIT when on the island!

Huge portions - crab cake eggs Benedict was ALL yummy crab. The owner's wife redid all the table tops that had been destroyed by Ian, so the beautiful tables are back!

In a simple coffee, I found one of the best flavors. The food doesn't make any big promises, but it delivers far beyond what you expect. Simply delicious. Don't forget to try the house snacks.

This was a very happy visit. I’ve been coming to Sanibel Cafe since the ‘80s. This was first time back since they reopened after the devastation from Hurricane Ian. Excellent food and exceptional service. After visiting around the island we stopped back so my daughter could buy a mug and jam 🍓♥️and our server remembered us from the morning. Perfect !

Very good service but very bad tasting food. I ordered the fruit topped pancakes with strawberries and banana and the fruit was all soggy and bad, not fresh at all. The bananas looked old/black. I had already had a bad experience in here when it came to the food but I wanted to give it another try because I thought maybe it was just that one day that the food was going to be bad but this is the third time I order from here and the food ends up tasting so bad. Not worth the try, excellent service tho! Almost felt like they were compensating from the food being so bad lol

We ate here years ago and really loved everything about it. We enjoyed the full menu especially the seafood. Today the restaurant is still going with its focus on breakfast and lunch as they close at 2pm daily. We had a 30 minute wait which in many ways tells you it is popular. It was worth the wait. Majority of the folks go for breakfast based on my observations. Miss the old Sanibel Cafe but would go back again as it still has the same quality and reasonable prices.

While on vacation in Sanibel. This was our go to breakfast spot. Very delicious food and friendly staff!

I enjoyed my break from seafood today by having the Philly cheese steak sandwich. It hit the spot. My lunch companion raved about the Parmigiano tomato side. I'd try it next time because my fries were good but the tomatoes looked fantastic.

This place has a special place in my heart after years of visiting Sanibel. We made the drive from Naples to see the post-Ian progress on the island and saw that it was open. We were so happy to give them business again. Their spirit is alive and well and they are once again serving the best breakfast on the island!

Have come here for many years!! SOOOO HAPPY they are open again- AND the fossil shell tables with glass survived hurricane Ism! Food delicious!! My husband, a big “biscuits and gravy” fan said after today’s breakfast “THIS is the BEST biscuits and gravy I’ve EVER had!” True! Welcome back!! And beautiful wall paintings!!!

Cute breakfast/brunch place that definitely has that beach town vibe. The menu is pretty standard, flavors are good but nothing was particularly spectacular. They could take things to the next level with fancier coffee options or homemade pastries. Service was friendly, and prices were reasonable.

Nice Breakfast spot. Tried Sanibel Cafe for the first time. It was nice. We had omelets(the shrimp and meat lovers) both omelets needed more cheese all meat would fall right out of omelets. Hashbrowns were small but delicious. Grits not worth it. Would go again if the Lighthouse cafe was closed again.

I ordered the eggs Benedict. The eggs were over cooked, the english muffin was burnt and the coffee tasted burnt. It seems finding a good breakfast place on the island is about as hard as finding a junonia. ***Update*** I have done both now. Rosie's Cafe is fantastic!!

African Americans Stay Away.... this establishment does not want you as a customer. 1st time visiting Sanibel Island. 1st place we stopped in to visit was this restaurant. The hostess that seated us, placed us in the back of the house, by the kitchen. The restaurant was not full, so we asked to be seated in another area. She made it known very clearly, thru her actions, that this was too much of a request, as she simply said... "ok pick any table." Note... This was not stated in a kind way. We stepped aside so she could lead us to another table, as this is what hosts do; but once again she said... "pick any table." When we got to the table of choice, she threw the menus on the tables and said "here." We were so insulted by her lack of interest in wanting to service us, that we opt to leave, as there is no way our money was going to be spent in a place that made it known, there was no interest in providing us, (African Americans) service. I must admit, a very negative tone instantly filled our minds about not just this restaurant, but Sanibel Island. Thank goodness for the Blue Giraffe Restaurant. They obviously understand the hospitality industry and what it means to truly welcome their customers no matter their ethnicity. Both food & service was impeccable. I highly recommend anyone reading this to skip Sanibel Cafe and go straight to the Blue Giraffe. It is sad to know in 2022, people choose, and I do mean choose, to be so prejudice against others, as what she did was not a mistake, it was a direct choice. Thank goodness for other establishments, who have the mindset that all patrons are to be treated properly. Those who care, understands all money is of the same color and spends the same way. Too Bad & So Sad. :(

Ate breakfast here while visiting Sanibel. It’s in the second story of a cute shopping mall. It’s a small but charming space - the tables have shells beneath plexiglass. The service was good. The food was very nice. Had the bagel and lox which was surprisingly good. It came disassembled so I got to make it how I like it. My husband got the sanibel omelette and it tasted great - had shrimp and herbs. Would definitely eat here again.

To the couple with the dog! I was sitting right There and there was no rudeness at all and she ask to wait outside like everyone else on the waiting list. Over easy has outside sitting and the cafe doesn’t, it’s pretty sad that because you didn’t get your way let’s tear apart the establishment. There is also so many people that have service jackets for their dogs but no real paperwork for it. You are supposed to provide it with the dog. For me the cafe is still one of the top breakfast places on our great island to eat. I hope you can look at yourself in the mirror after writing that review.

If you don’t like dogs and appreciate rude staff, you will love this place! We attempted to have breakfast here the morning of our wedding. We had had our (very well behaved) Service Dog with us, and instead of “good morning”, we were rushed with “we don’t allow dogs!” before we could even utter a word. I explained that this was a service animal (clearly printed on his vest, too) and after an annoyed eye-roll then got a snarky “you have to wait outside until we can seat you (in some corner).”. I’m inclined to have the ADA give them a test visit and explain a thing or two about equal treatment! Needless to say, we decided to not reward & grace that establishment with our presence & money and moved on to the nearby Over Easy Cafe - and boy are we happy we did! If you are looking to enjoy amazing food and amazing service, skip Sanibel Cafe and head straight to the Over Easy!

One of the best spots IN THE WORLD. We cane here on the morning of our one year anniversary, only to be shocked! The eggs benedict were beyond perfect and my wife had toasted coconut crusted French toast. Loved staying at Captiva but this breakfast put a smile on both of our faces. Thank you Sanibel Cafe!
