First time here. This place is without a doubt the best pizza in southeastern CT. Moved from NY four years ago and thought I would never find good pizza again, Sapore proved me wrong! The pizza is thin, crispy and cooked to perfection. Decor is beautiful, staff is friendly and helpful. Did not get to try any pasta dishes, however they looked delicious. Happy hour everyday from 2:30 to 5:30 PM with drink and food specials is unheard of for this area. We will definitely be back!

The most delicious salmon asparagus and CANNOLIS are to die for. pizzas okay they have slices or pie. Quick and friendly service

We found ourselves an hour from home and craving good pizza, and we are thrilled to have stumbled upon Sapore. The pizza menu looked amazing, and our server Laura took the time to explain the different styles of pizza and what made each one special in its own way. We ordered 1 traditional and 1 grandma, with the debate during dinner being which one was better. (They tied btw….both a 10). Although we didn’t order anything “non pizza” the menu looked amazing, and every dinner that passed our table made us look forward to returning in the future…..and yes, we’ll drive an hour without hesitation to experience Sapore again.

Excellent donuts and other pastries, and some breads. Very different types plus some usual favorites. These are big donuts with plenty of flavor. It’s takeout only and cash only. A must go to shop when you’re at the shore.

Solid pizza. Sauce is a bit runny but cheese has flavor.

The sauce is to tarty and tastes old. I'm Italian and good sauce is tasty and sweet. Make your sauce fresh and add brown sugar to spruce up. As of now I rate it an f

As a true Italian I can say that the pizza is the best ever, margherita 2.0 is absolutely delicious, crunchy and well cooked! My wife fell in love with the berry arugula with shrimp and lemon salmon! The whole menu is excellent. Great Louis

The pizza was delicious. Excellent specialty pizzas to choose from., creative ingredients , some different from the usual pizzaria's . We had a broccoli rabe / sausage and Americana ( veggies Very nice staff . We went on a Saturday for dinner and it was really busy , waited over an hour for our pizza to come but the atmosphere is fun , bistro style , nice long bar to sit and eat at or just have cocktails. Good size drink, beer and wine lists to choose from. Only complaint I have is that it was really hot, AC was not adequate but we were told they were waiting on 2 large units to be delivered and installed, so maybe the next time I go it will be cooler! I highly recommend Sephora for their pizza, atmosphere, service and fun kick butt staff!

Excellent pizza with high quality ingredients. Delicious sauce and cheese. Very nice crust. Ordered take out but dining area looks very nice. Friendly service, look forward to trying more on our trips down to the shoreline.

Best pizza in the area up there with New Haven!

Delicious pizza with a great thin dough and a variety of toppings to please everyone. The only serve 16” pizzas, but the best sellers can be purchased by the slice (a generous size, which is about 1/6th of a pie). The best I’ve had in the area.

Great pizza. One of my all time favorites. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

We brought my best friend of 40 years to this establishment for her birthday. From the first minute that we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by friendly staff. They see us by a large window with a view. The service was excellent throughout the meal. The food was as fantastic! Felt like a was back in Italy. The staff also surprised my friend with a homemade tiramisu. It was divine. So light n fluffy that it melted in your mouth. The prices are very reasonable. We highly recommend Sapore.

I am Italian, from Milan, and very critical of bad Italian food in the USA. Sapore has the best pizza east of New Haven and all the way to Boston, plus very satisfying Cioppino though the linguine could be a little more al dente. Forget the loud diner atmosphere, don’t miss it !

Great little spot to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a cocktail! Particularly good appetizers and helpful, welcoming staff....Especially Hannah & Laura!! Definitely go again!!

Hanna is our favorite ! The drinks are great and she's a wonderful happy waitress and excellent bartender. The food is always so great! We come several times for happy hour and are so pleased with the pasta and the pizza. Tonight we are trying the fish!

Across from Rogers Lake area. Very nice atmosphere. Comfortable, light, and fresh. Service was excellent and good was well prepared. Keep this restaurant in mind, as I had difficulty finding it via Google maps. If you like prosciutto, go!

Margarita Pizza is excellent (even better if you ask for extra basil). Great lemon drop martini and happy hour prices. Excellent!

Extremely hard working the runs the kitchen and front of the house - everyone works to together to accommodate all patrons in a busy, high volume establishment. The menu has an amazing variety and authentic Italian cuisine! There is something for everyone, including INCREDIBLE desserts like homemade tiramisu, cannolis, and carrot cane! My absolute favorites (so far) include the Chicken Florentine pizza, Chicken Vodke Grinder, the Short Rib Ragu, Eggplant Rollatini and the Prosciutto Caprese 🤤 Happy hour is offered EVERY DAY from 2:30 until 5:30 at the bar and the high top table area with thoughtful and generous offerings like pizzas (50% off), small plates and beverages (rotating martinis) 😋 The location is convenient and easy to find. This Italian Pizza Bar and Restaurant is a must try, on any day of the week, for a relaxing and satisfying sit down meal with a date or family, as well as a reasonable time for take out!

We love this place! The pizza is the best around! We love the different varieties and types. We hear the meals are fabulous too, but have yet to try them because we keep buying the awesome pizza! We were so happy when you re-opened! Keep up the great work!

It was nice and cool In the restaurant, super atmospheric. My server Sarah was amazing and extremely attentive giving her ten stars alone!!! My pasta and meatballs was excellent. Will definitely be recommending and returning.

This place is GOOD -particularly their pizza! I have been wanting to stop in & try their food for some time bc I have clients that always order pizza from here. The NEW INTERIOR RENOVATION & MENU IS FABULOUS! I love the layout & decor. It has a relaxing a cool, updated classic decor & vibe to it. Great lighting, music & atmosphere! I was greeted instantly as I entered. The staff were all very warm, friendly, polite & professional. I decided to dine in & was seated immediately. They brought a menu & water immediately to my table & took my drink order. I decided on a yummy medium body California Cab Sauv which was lovely. They have a FULL BAR with a nice selection of specialty cocktails, Beer, Wine & NA offerings. For dining, they offer BRICK OVEN PIZZA, BURGERS, GRINDERS, SALADS, PASTAS, MEAT, POULTRY, SEAFOOD ENTREES, & DESSERTS. I was interested in trying their pizzas although everything looked appetizing coming out of the kitchen. THEIR PIZZAS ARE DEFINITELY THE STANDOUT HERE! They feature 16" pizzas only bc of the steady demand. I settled on their Sophia Loren white pizza which is similar to a Margherita but with arugula & was topped a drizzle of creamy green chili aioli which sounded divine. The pizza arrived about 12-15 mins hot from the kitchen! It was delicious! The arugula has a nice fresh garden peppery bite that intertwined nicely with the mozz cheese, fresh tomatoes, and garlic basil.The green chili aioli was creamy & added another little subtle dimension & kick to it! I LOVED it! The staff was fantastic. They came over periodically to check on me to see if I needed anything. Any of my requests were met with seamless efficiency. I am thoroughly impressed with the whole operation here. Excited to try more dishes! They have a SPECTACULAR NEW HAPPY HOUR 2:30-5 pm M-FRI WITH REDUCED PRICED SMALL PLATES, WINE, BEER & WELL DRINKS & HALF OFF PIZZAS. They do a BRISK BUSINESS with TAKEOUT ORDERS. RECOMMENDED! BUON APPETITO!

Just went in today and the pizza was excellent, there was nice high-quality pepperoni, sweet and tangy sauce and the crust was so crunchy and good. Great undercarriage and the soda was excellent. The customer service was also top tier. Would definitely come again!

We were served WARM water from a carafe, no ice, room temp. Watresses were confused as to who would wait on us. 2 of the meals were ordinary. My choice was a seafood medley. The clams were the size of quarters...QUARTERS! The bay scallops were just ordinary. Sauce was ordinary too. To be fair, their pizza is excellent.

The food is outstanding. We eat in and occasionally order pizza out. Great dishes too!

Portnoy gave them a 7.8. I think I need to try it again onsite versus taking it home. The crust wasn't crunchy - a bit soupy. But that's what happens to pizza on the car seat.

My new go to spot for authentic italian food! The seafood and pasta dishes are fantastic! They have new specials every week and the staff are really attentive. They also have good options for happy hour.

Wow....what a place!!! Service is top notch and food is second to none. Fresh ingredients, delicious pasta, plenty of seafood selections and a full bar with a great drink selection. Highly recommend going in for dinner to try a dish from the menu or from the many specials offered each day! Authentic Italian at its finest.

Best authentic Italian restaurant from Clinton to Groton probably . Stayed there for the happy hour which they have from 2:30 to 5:30 EVERY DAY and we ended up staying for dinner also and getting this amazing seafood pasta dish and veal Marsala with some fresh brewed espresso Martini and basil mojito . Great menu, Quality food and cocktails , best pasta near old Lyme hands down . That’s my place from now on and Sarah is the best

The food is delicious! Better pasta than anything I’ve ordered at the casinos. The pizza is consistently good. The owners are very friendly and personable. Hanna is an excellent bartender. Happy to go and go again.

The Valentine’s Day dinner special including a bottle of wine was exceptional. We moved from NJ and Sapore’s pizza and the Italian food rivals some of the best we’ve had. Recommend it highly.

We ordered delivery, on a Friday night. Everyone in town had the same idea, so they were a bit busy. The delivery driver called us to let us know the estimated time of arrival, and was very kind when she dropped off our order. Y’all, the pizza was worth the (short) wait! Delicious sauce, great crust, plenty of toppings. 10/10 recommend, definitely check them out. Between the kind & thoughtful staff and the great food, we will definitely be returning customers!

Very nice find. The crust is midway between Sicilian and CT thin crispy, more towards Sicilian. We liked it a lot. Good flavors, fresh ingredients. Service quick and attentive, they even passed along the tables sharing a little taste of pizza as appetizers, cool touch. Will Be back.

Second choice pizza place,, a little dated and dull.

Relocated from New Jersey…we’ve been searching for great pizza without any luck (sorry CT)! And then we found Sapore! Delicious pizza, great bread for sandwiches! We still love our NJ pizza, bagels and pork roll, but Sapore makes us happy!

A delicious lunch. The Bolognese sauce was great, the focaccia sandwich delicious, and the cannoli was incredible. And the coffee was excellent.

I love, love love this place! When it comes to Italian food, I am really picky. And I usually am unimpressed with the food in Italian restaurants, but Sapore is my hands-down favorite. Linguine and clams with Manilla clams is not-to-be-missed! Great salads, pizza, you really can't miss.

Stromboli is very good but service is slow and I always wait 10-15 min after getting there at the time they told me it would be ready. Occasionally the pizza is burnt. They do give you free mini slices of pizza when you wait.

When I say it’s the best, I mean THE BEST pizza on the shoreline. When I want to go out to eat, this is the spot, from salads to dinners to a classic Margherita pizza. Best spot from East Lyme to Clinton!!

The pizza is good and we liked it but they took more than 25 mins to cook and deliver even though we were the only ones in the restaurant at that time.

Being a native New Yorker and the Family being Italian this is real quality Italian food beyond the pizza being NY Style. I would highly recommend it for an Italian restaurant along the Shoreline of Connecticut in Old Lyme. Just good family style food.

Best Pizza in Old Lyme and probably the vicinity as well. The sauce is powerful with its flavors. The dough is that perfect blend of crunchy outside and chewy on the inside. Toppings are generous and excellent quality! I’m a regular once a week here!

Unbelievable quality! I took one bite and I truly couldn't be more Impressed! I would recommend this to any one of my friends; even the harshest critics. The Artistry of the pizza is beautiful and taste is amazing and to taste as spectacular as it does is feat in itself!

Cozy little restaurant. Family friendly. Welcoming staff. They sell pizza by the slices, have a regular menu and specials. Their grinder/subs are good, they use sesame seed bread. There's outdoor seating as well.

We’re new to town and went here the other week. This place is a gem! We’ve now ordered take out several times and it’s our new go to place. Best pizza we’ve ever had! We feel lucky to have such a great spot in town.

I had the Broccoli Rab and Italian sausage appetizer and the Burratta prosciutto salad over arugula with basalmic dressing ...both are to die for. Seriously generous portions and great atmosphere in a quiet neighborhood near Rogers lake on Route 1 in Olde Lyme. Plenty of parking and worth wherever you are driving from.

I grew up in Bayside, Queens in NY, and my favorite thing to eat was a calzone. Back then, it came with ham and that's it! No choices of what to stick in your calzone. Well I have a little secret to tell you...Sapore makes, by far, the best calzone I have ever had. I'm 60, so I have plenty of calzones over my belt. I would strongly encourage you to try Sapore. Food is great, service is congenial and you don't have to travel to New Haven! BTW, I'm a chef.

What do you do when you discover a wonderful new restaurant? You bring your friends and let them experience it for themselves. That's what we've been doing ever since our first visit. The reaction is always the same; "This place is fantastic!" Luigi brings authentic Italian recipes from Italy to Old Lyme and aims to please every customer as if they were family. The service is always excellent, and somehow Luigi manages to maintain a large menu with reasonable prices despite the ongoing supply chain challenges. Bravo Luigi!😁👍
