Lobster roll was excellent as well as the customer service. Couldn't have been happier.

My wife and I visited from New Jersey. We tried a few other places around Boothbay harbor. Shannon’s unshelled takes the cake! We ordered lobster rolls, clam chowder, and as a side blueberry coleslaw, and or/ sea weed salad. Both delish. Lobster super fresh and buttery. Super friendly staff, beautiful outside atmosphere, fantastic service. The best part about my experience is that Shannon herself made our food. It’s nice to see the owner of the establishment around and she was wonderful. LGBTQ friendly, Woman owned, Local business, ample parking.

Figured we’d try this out since we’ve already had the other hot spot in this area. We were impressed with the food and the service. Very hospitable and they treat the customers like they are friends they’ve known forever. Would definitely come here again. Lobster grilled cheese was delicious. Fried pickles were awesome. Plus a hot buttered lobster roll option is always the way to go.

Absolutely delicious. Made fried haddock and shrimp that my 3 toddlers devoured. Their bang bang shrimp special was delicious, and it was amazing to have fried pickles and onion rings gluten free!

First time going! The food was great, and portions were plentiful! There are great options for kids as well. There is plenty of outdoor seating, along with indoor seating, too.

It's a lobster shack! The lobster rolls were excellent! Toasted rolls make the difference. Very generous portions with warm butter to pour on! I prefer this to the mayo type of lobster rolls

Stopped by after visiting the botanical gardens. The servicer was friendly and helpful when taking our order. The food runner was prompt and freindly. The seating was dog friendly.. because it is a roadside establishment, their was road noise.

If you’re interested in great Maine seafood and amazing chicken tenders, you’re at the right spot to stop at Shannon’s! Her passion to accommodate all her guests and her kindness glows from a far! She is extremely sweet and you can tell her staff enjoy working with her in giving the best experience to both locals and new comers! We experienced her dishes at the boothbay railroad village and I followed from there since she has her store that is LITERALLY four minutes away! My son (he’s two) and I enjoy sharing the chicken tenders! Nobody makes them like Shannon! It is now a tradition to go and grab a bite at Shannon’s unshelled before hitting the trains!! Thank you again Shannon and staff! I look forward to our next visit ♥️

This place is phenomenal!! I had the lobster roll with the garlic butter. It was delicious! Same with the whole clams and shrimp, the batter was phenomenal for being gluten free. The taste is not overbearing and is quite solid Shannon(I’m pretty sure it you). Was phenomenal and we loved talking to her, They have both an outside and indoor seating arrangement and was very nice to sit and eat!

I am BLOWN away from the service that Shannon’s Unshelled has to offer! The quality, the experience and the customer service was amazing and untouched. I live in Tennessee, and the people are known to pride themselves in hospitality. I tell you, this place is WORTH the visit. Shannon and her staff were very service oriented and went above and beyond! Looking forward to the next visit when we are in town.

We took a ride to find something quick late at night and found Shannon's, and she blew us away. The food was incredible, fast, and the owner was the most accommodating. A sweet little spot with the most thoughtful setup. She has it figured out. The food was incredible.

My daughter wanted a grilled cheese but they were out of bread. The man at the counter ran out to the warehouse and got bread. My son said it was the best shrimp he’s ever had! Everything that goes into the frier is gluten free :)

Probably my favorite place I ate on my trip to Boothbay. I got the bang bang shrimp special. Shrimp were succulent and fried to perfection. Enjoyed the fries too. Service was fast and friendly.

Excellent service, decent menu, and everything was done just right. Bang bang shrimp and the clam basket were both tasty. Blueberry coleslaw was good along with the seaweed salad, and the plentiful fries were excellent.

Lived in Maine 52 years and these were the best fried clams I’ve had, quick, friendly service. Drove from Bangor exploring for the day and this experience topped off our day! Thank you!

Shannon's has been around for a long time, but they've bounced around the area. Wherever they land though, they setup a great spot, and are always very friendly. It's a bit pricey, but that is to be expected. Fresh seafood sourced locally, excellently fried and with gluten free options. This new location has a great spot in the back with plenty of room, cornhole, and public bathrooms. Definitely worth a stop! One of the best fried clams and fried pickles options in the area.

Nice and friendly staff. Beautiful presentation with the flower on the delicious lobster roll. The light blueberry slaw was the best slaw I’ve had in Maine so far and the lobster and the roll were perfect. Loved our taste of Maine since we are from Indiana !

I was extremely excited to find a seafood restaurant that served gluten free fried food! I had the fish basket with onion rings. SO GOOD! The people were very friendly and helpful and took the time to talk about the preparation of their gluten free food. I can't wait to go back! This will be a required stop whenever we're in the area.

The fish was fresh and light, the seaweed salad, and wild blueberry coleslaw was very tasty and the people were warm and welcoming. An establishment that will no doubt protect Maine’s reputation. 👌🏻

I got a lobster roll basket. The lobster was so chewy like fat. Could not even enjoy it. Definitely won’t get again. Very disappointed especially for the price of lobster.

We live close by and decided to try it out today. Lobster rolls are always pricey, but at least this one was LOADED with meat. We sat in shade and enjoyed the experience.

As a fellow Shannon, I had high expectations. This place hit it out of the park. Simple and delicious. Generous and fresh lobster with sea salt and drawn butter, perfectly grilled roll, the best onion rings, and blueberry coleslaw. 🤤 The staff is also super friendly and attentive. As a little kid at the table next to us said “FIVE STARS, 10 OUT OF 10!” 😆

Great food! Haddock sandwich and fried shrimp were delicious and the blueberry coleslaw was amazing! Orchids were a pretty touch. Service was fantastic!

We had an awesome eating experience at Shannon's Unshelled on Rt. 27! The lobster rolls were absolutely divine, packed with fresh, succulent lobster meat and perfectly seasoned. The clam chowder was equally impressive, rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The service was top-notch; the staff was friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. The eating area was nice and comfortable, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal. I highly recommend Shannon's Unshelled for anyone looking to enjoy some of the best seafood around!

Food was SO good (fresh ingredients), everything was provided for sauces and such, and portion sizes were large. Service was quick taking into account the line and what our orders were (3 cheeseburger baskets, a chicken tenders basket, and a lobster roll basket). Prices were reasonable considering the portion sizes and ingredients, ESPECIALLY the lobster roll. Loved it!

Food is always delicious and fresh and service is amazing. A really nice location with plenty of picnic tables and green space.

Great food. The blueberry coleslaw is creative and good. The service is friendly and efficient. Great for families. They have kid sized picnic tables for kids and cornhole games. Worth a stop. Good alternative to red’s, probably better in fact.

SO GOOD! We got the shrimp basket with fried pickles and the chicken basket. Everything was super fresh and yummy!

Delicious fried foods and lobster rolls! Their friend pickles were the best I’ve had in the midcoast and their lobster roll was authentic and perfectly prepared (toasted buttered bun, no mayo, sea salt butter on the side 🤌). We also found out they use gluten free breading on all their fried foods which was awesome! Could not tell the difference and no tummy ache later for my partner. Thanks Shannon’s! We’ll be back.

Shannon's has the best lobster roll I've had in years! Generous portion of very fresh lobster, tender, delicious ,CHILLED, on a warm toasty roll with melted butter. I've had many mediocre rolls from other places and this one is absolutely stellar! Great chowder, onion rings and seaweed salad as well. Shout out to Jules and the crew who provided warm hospitality and friendly service. It's a 4 and a half hour drive but we will be back.

It seems and feels like coastal Maine! Shannon's Unshelled delivers on the taste and options that you would expect from a quintessential coastal Maine lobster shack. We were happily greeted by a friendly staff and enjoyed the sunlight while we waited for our freshly prepared food. The food followed up every bit of promising start that we were hoping for and we left quite satisfied.

We ate outside at the fire pit and then went to the Gardens Aglow event. This place has great food but is a bit expensive. The blueberry coleslaw should be featured more prevalently as it was simply a delight. The lobster roll (I had the flight) was bland but the rest of the food made up for it.

Ordered to-go meals for 26 family members during Thanksgiving week. The meals were all perfectly cooked and perfectly packaged. Could not have asked for more.

Fried haddock meals here were quite good. The haddock was well cooked, although the pieces were not very uniform; some were very thin and mostly breading, whereas others were nicely thick and delicious. The 3 of us all disliked the coleslaw, so this could use some attention. Overall, a very good meal.

This is a must try while you are spending time in Boothbay or you will have regrets. The freshest seafood and made to order. Shannon's came highly recommended by a friend whom recently vacationed out here. The meal, price and service did not disappoint. We ordered the lobster roll (lots of meat, flavorful and fresh), fried shrimp (buttery, fresh, lightly battered and golden) and the haddock sandwich (gigantic, super fresh, crispy on the outside and lightly battered. Everything was phenomenal. I regret not eating here again before we left. The folks behind the counter are very upbeat and super friendly. Thanks for a hearty meal 🩵.

We waited to find the best lobster roll & we found it at Shannon’s Unshelled! Shannon’s was recommended by a local. They use fresh, locally caught lobster. They serve it cold or warm. We had one cold & one warm. It is served with fries & a choice of seaweed salad or blueberry coleslaw. We accompanied the lobster roll with Blueberry Soda Maine root beer.

Spent a week in Boothbay Harbor and finally got to try this place! While everyone seems to come here for the lobster rolls, I also really enjoyed the haddock sandwich! Blueberry coleslaw is unique but a great sweet-sour way to finish the meal. I came here two nights in a row at sunset and the views were outstanding, also lots of room for kids and dogs to hang out. On my second night, Shannon was there and was chatting it up with everyone, and even put out some portable fire pits as it got dark. Service also was outstanding, I didn't see name tags (other than "I'm not Shannon," LOL) but everyone I interacted with was super nice and friendly, even though I arrived near closing time both visits. While this spot is slightly outside of harbor town, it's worth the trip!

The lobster roll at Shannon’s is all it’s cracked up to be!!! We both had the lobster roll basket and it is easily in the top three ever and could quite easily take the top spot. That touch of garlic in the melted butter takes it to another level. Great and friendly service. May come back before we leave!!

Love this place!! A gem and so glad we stumbled upon it. Best lobster roll yet and my mom had the freshest haddock. You won't be disappointed go eat and enjoy and make sure you eat the edible flower!

Was looking for a spot to get some fried fish in boothbay and saw Shannon's had awesome reviews. Checked it out and the service was very friendly (& fun) and the fried shrimp was delicious. They had bacon wrapped scallops as a special and those were cooked perfectly. If you're looking for fried seafood, look no further as this is a great spot!

Love how fresh the lobster is! Big chunks of lobster and all you need is some fresh drawn butter they put on the side. Blueberry coleslaw was amazing. And also thought the clam chowder was delicious! Fries are not greasy and really good as well! Love the atmosphere of being outside on picnic tables!

Food was ok, nothing special. I found it way overpriced considering that is a place that doesn’t offer air conditioning or indoor seating, no bathrooms and no shade during the afternoon. Would not go back.

We ordered dinner here tonight and oh my gosh was it excellent! Everything was absolutely devine, the lobster bisque was so buttery and delicious, the clams were fresh and cooked to perfection and the blueberry slaw was the cherry on top. Our food arrived super fast and was still hot upon arrival. We will definitely be back as this is our new favorite spot in town!

We found Shannon’s Unshelled last year via the Find Me GF app while visiting Boothbay Harbor. We ate there three times in five days last year. They have switched locations since then so be sure to plug them into Google Maps before you head over. Food is outstanding!! We ate lobster rolls, onion rings, pickle fries, blueberry soda, and root beer. All the batter is gluten free, which for us is wonderful, but even my husband who does not have Celiac LOVES their batter! 😋 We are back in Boothbay, and after a six hour drive to get here, we immediately went to Shannon’s. We arrived Friday and in less than a week we have already been twice. We will surely be back again before we leave town.

Oh my gosh, this place is a treasure. If you are gluten free (by preference, not celiac) this is the best place for you. Everything is delicious. Everyone who works here is beyond polite and just happy to be there. I will be coming here every time I come to Maine. Try the blueberry cole slaw and the blueberry soda!!! And the delicious cookies!!

Stopped here due to Booth Bay harbor was very busy, no place to park. We had the lobster roll trio, it was good not the best we have had

We've taken it upon ourselves to find the best lobster rolls in Maine. This is the 5th roll and the unanimous favorite. Our son got the Lobster Grilled Cheese and said it was his favorite food on the trip. The service here is top notch and the atmosphere is great. We got here before noon and it wasn't too crowded yet.

A bit on the pricey side but worth it. These are the best lobster rolls in the area.

Everything was wonderful, especially the blueberry coleslaw! Fresh wild blueberries made regular ole coleslaw special. Great idea! The staff was very good, very friendly!

Gluten Sensitive/Celiac friendly! I was able to enjoy apps and entrees and did not get sick at all! I have not been able to have fried chicken tenders from a restaurant in years, this was an emotional experience! 🤣 I got to feel like a kid again! Portions are very generous, food is DELICIOUS! Great service with generous portions. Owner and staff attentive. Food was delicious and the location is great for a day trip to the Boothbay region. Water bowls for dogs made our husky, Bailey feel welcomed too! A real treat if your are looking for a seafood shack!

Great lobster roll and reasonably priced, and great hospitality for us out of state visitors. Kids loved the lightly breaded chicken tenders too. We were fortunate with perfect weather (72°F and sunny), which made the experience even better. We have had probably 5 different lobster rolls in the last 3 days across the Mid Coastal region and this was our favorite place (first time Maine visitors).

Wicked good fried haddock sandwich and fries. Blueberry coleslaw too. Left feeling full and happy!

We stopped here close to closing, and we were starving. Service was beyond excellent to us and others who stopped after us - she was polite and engaging, provided time frames for food, plus she offered substitutions since they had run out of French fries. Food was delicious! We had haddock sandwiches, fresh and tasty. Do not miss out on the fried pickles with homemade dipping sauce and the Maine Blueberry coleslaw! Fantastic!

This place has world class Fries! I got their Lobster Roll Basket, and I gotta say for the price, it was well and truly above what I was asking; the bun was absolutely stuffed to the brim with lobster! Blueberry coleslaw wasn't a favorite but others seemed to enjoy it. And I can almost guarantee that this place has the best service out of any other Lobster Shack in a 5 mile radius!

Great place to get lunch on your way to or from the botanical gardens, much less crowded than the better known places on the water. No wait when we went lunchtime on a Sunday. Excellent fried clams.

A gem! - I was afraid this was a tourist trap, as there are SO MANY lobster roll places in the area. This is definitely NOT a tourist trap. In a great location, ample parking, the village bathrooms are right between the parking and restaurant, and it's a very quaint and nice area to eat outside. Speaking of outside - all the tables are covered in case you're hot or it's raining. Also very dog friendly - there's a dog park across the street too! Food is FANTASTIC. One of the best lobster rolls I've ever had. We also got the special of the day, the shrimp roll, which my hubby thoroughly enjoyed. The Blueberry slaw is super good, I wasn't expecting to like it - but it was delicious. And the seaweed salad outbeats any Japanese restaurant. Staff is kind, friendly, and tries to wait on you, or at least acknowledge you, immediately. I love Boothbay - the people here are "Wisconsin-nice" if you're from the Midwest, you know what I mean! We will make this a staple to come to anytime we are in Boothbay. DONT CHANGE A THING!

We have been to Maine many times & have had lots of lobster rolls but the lobster roll from Shannon’s is unprecedented! When described as overstuffed - this is an under statement! The bun is stuffed with lobster & then topped with a whole lobster claw! 🦞The blueberry coleslaw that is served with the roll is amazing! Everyone working there is so attentive and professional! This is my go to place for lobster rolls!

Generous lobster roll served with butter on the side with fries and your choice of seaweed salad or blueberry coleslaw. Had the slaw. It is sweet and delicious but my dining partner thought it was too sweet. The corn chowder is a great consistency (not too gloppy and thick) and flavorful. The serving was big enough to share.

I’ve been coming to Boothbay my entire life, and I’m happy I discovered Shannon’s. The staff is extremely friendly, the food is amazing and so is the price! I will for sure be going back.

Shannon’s has been a “must have” in Boothbay for many years. The new location just off the roundabout is great and has lots of free parking! Over-stuffed doesn’t even begin to describe these awesome lobster rolls. Go see em!

food is good, good portions,friendly service but the picnic tables are covered with rancid oil stains. we won't to eat there again,I hope they do something with the tables.

Great lunch at Shannon’s Unshelled at the Boothbay common. We had a lobster roll, fish basket, onion rings and fries. Came back another day for the fried clams and lobster bisque. Generous portions, crispy cornmeal batter (gluten free!) and really great service. The meals come with unique sides, either blueberry coleslaw (yum!) or seaweed salad (delish, just like at a Japanese restaurant). We will be back for sure!
