It's never a bad time at the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh! I've been coming here for as long as I can remember, and I have more stories than I have time to tell them!

Bartenders will make direct eye contact with you and your empty drink, and keep on walking. 20 minutes for a drink. The bartenders couldn't keep up and they sent the barback home. Terrible service. Would not recommend

Can't go wrong with Matt in the kitchen. Burgers are unreal, from the perfect brioche bun to the always fresh never frozen handmade patty, one of the best in our area. Amazing wings with Homemade in house Blue Cheese truly a real treat. Matt, Alicia, Jerry, Adam this place just loaded with Great staff that will make your first time feel like your 50th. Great place dedicated members always giving back to the community, making a difference. Just all around positive place to be that leaves No room for Disappointment. MOST Highly Recommend!

Took a first date there and she loved it. So much so that she agreed to go on a 2nd date with me lol. The ambiance was great and it set the tone for a great night for my date and I. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice bar to go to in the West Orange area.

Awesome amenity in West Orange. Shillelagh Club has been around for a long time and still serves up one of the best burgers in Essex County. The bartenders are always so nice and the place is beautiful inside. Highly recommend.

Attended private event at this location. Everything was great from start to finish. The bar offered so many different types of beers for any fan of beer.

When I first walked in, I was a little confused about whether or not they had a waitstaff, and the bartender didn't say anything to me, so I just walked up to the bar and asked for a menu. Turns out that was the correct thing to do, because they don't have waiters (but the service here with the bartenders is still good). If you're in the area, I would stop by for a burger

A great Irish pub with a GREAT craft beer selection. We arrived about 3:30 on a beautiful Saturday in June for a couple of really great beers before going out to a nice sit down dinner. Bad timing. The golfers from across the road, about 30, had been drinking considerably while playing and were incredibly loud and many semi drunk. Not exactly the quiet relaxed beer we were hoping for but the crowd was friendly and certainly enjoying themselves. We enjoyed the beers above all the noise and will definitely be back again and again.

I loved the place so much! Amazing people, great atmosphere, great drinks, great location! Really good vegan burger, made of one big mushroom! I had the opportunity to play music in this great venue. Loved it and especially the people! Would love to come back :)

They talk a big game about having the best burger in NJ, but they truly may be right about it! I've been here multiple times and the remarkable burgers are consistently amazing! Plenty of live music events come to play here and you won't find a friendlier bunch around The bar is open to the public and helps support the fraternal organization that calls the building home so you'll be dining for a good cause. They do an incredible amount for the community at large.

Dance floor is small and packed. Don’t sit at those tables. Those tables are way too close to the dance floor. I advise that if you don’t want to sit at the bar, choose a table outside. Men and women don’t notice that you’re sitting there (most likely they are drunk). Your personal bubble will be intruded no doubt. I felt very uncomfortable, overwhelmed, and anxious. I’m usually kind but bc my space was very invaded, I felt very anxious and miserable, so I came off as “rude” unintentionally. I should have walked out for some fresh air. This isn’t the place to go to as an introvert. Was not a welcoming, friendly, and fun experience bc you feel FORCED to fake a smile and to fake fun. If you’re not an extrovert, you are noticed among the crowd and it’s embarrassing/humiliating bc the people there think it’s a bad thing. Never in my life did I ever experience something traumatic like this at a public place. It was absolutely unnecessary. I guess live music bars aren’t my thing. However, I do love outdoor concerts bc nobody treats me like the odd one out for not being social and dancing is voluntary.

I really enjoyed it! Its a very nice, comfy place. I've been there twice to hear live music and had a great time on both occasions. The bartenders are awesome, really pay attention to you, great sense of humor from both of them. And the bathrooms are actually almost spotless! They have a good menu, but the kitchen doesn't stay open too late, so order early. Drinks are reasonably priced. I would recommend.

Great atmosphere and excellent food. Bit of a wait for my burger, but it was SO worth it. Would strongly recommend.

Local bands, great burgers, good selection of craft beers and whiskey and good friendly people. What more so you need. Never a bad time at the Shillelagh! And most importantly, multiple donation funds to those in need.

Fun place and good beer selection.

Clubby friendly pub with a big bar, darts and very good food. Excellent selection of beers in a can. Lots of games on the big screen TVs. There's even a 3 season porch / room with ceiling fans. Right next to Seton Hall prep sports complex.

We came to see Dennis Diken of the Smithereens play with his side band. This is a great homey friendly Irish bar with an amazing selection of beer choices and surprisingly great food, plus a lot of extra space for a party when the weather gets warmer.

Came here as a family to eat, it wasn't very welcoming. We immediately had the eyes from all the locals and the bartenders like what are they doing here. Ended up walking out after 20 min of isolation at a table.

we went when bagels by jarrett was hosting his pop-up dinner and it was incredible! it’s a very lively place with a nice bar and outdoor seating. would definitely come back again.

great spot for live music and pub food. the bartenders are super sweet and one of them is quite dapper have cassamigos anjejo which is always delicious the bar crowd is friendly. I think they also have events.

Best burger in west orange. Best beer selection in west orange. Friendly staff. I could say more but that really somes it up, Best burger and brew is enough for me to be thoroughly happy.

Great establishment. Bar manger was aces. Friendly group of guys. Came over and made myself and my cousins feel very welcomed.

Enjoyed our night as we went to enjoy a musician performing. The pub is open to the public. Everyone was very friendly, reasonable prices, the Guinness was flowing and the gravy fries were a perfect snack!

Real talk: Best burger you can find in this state, and a ton of craft taps, bottles and cans. Was surprised, it's a diamond in the rough.

Irish Club with bar open to the public. Great selection of live music on certain nights, and community events. There is also a kitchen with good pub food. I rarely order anything but the burgers because they are so good, and the fries are super tasty too. Friendly environment. There is a deck that is great in warm weather, and some games available like corn hole and darts.

The Shillelagh Club is a delightfully interesting place. Set back off Prospect Avenue across from the golf course, nestled against Seton Hall Prep’s athletic fields, the large free parking makes the building and surroundings not so easy to spot. Once you find it, it’s an older building mixed with some modern amenities. It may not be completely true to an Irish pub, but it has charm. The inside is a clean, including one of the cleanest bathrooms around. Lighting is dim and the walls are painted sheetrock or brick. Outdoor has a nice, large newly built deck, with a downstairs space for lawn games. Though we have only been a few times, it is very hit or miss when it is crowded. Events tend to draw a larger crowd. Everyone on the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the limited menu. The food is good for a small pub making mostly fried food, with some sandwiches, and Irish staples. The mozzarella wedges were a plus, while the pizza fries were a miss. Mostly due to the difficulty to eat. Drinks are also as expected, with Guinness, Smithwick’s, and Jameson as well as other classic American staples. Typically nothing too exotic is offered to eat or drink. There is a happy hour, though the only two beers listed, one hasn’t been on tap. Prices are about average, with $5-$7 beers and $10 sandwiches. What the Shillelagh Club lacks in appearance, the staff and overall charm make for a nice casual evening.

This is a great spot and that's all there is to it. Large wraparound bar. Lots of tables. Good drink selection. The bathrooms are nice and seem to be kept pretty clean. Nice dartboard.

Nice clean friendly bar....used to have great bartenders until new manager took over...Joanie is still there though!....she's the BEST
