So we have been getting brisket here for several years. Went the other day and it was terrible. Sliced paper thin and very dry. It was really not edible. Was not juicy in the least and it couldn't be because it was so thin. More.like dry roast beef than a juicy brisket. Very very disappointed....what happened to juicy fatty melt in your mouth brisket? So I can't seem to reply to your comments no matter what I try..we are from Hendo and itnwas 6pm by the time we went to eat the brisket..then we had 4 days of apple fest as we have a shop on main st...I would normally have made that call but we just got busy....

I did pick up last night and fed a family of 4 including drinks and dessert for like 15 a person and we had enough that everyone got lunch today. Everything was top notch!

This is the BEST BBQ in the Asheville area.

Very friendly staff, serving tasty food.

Came by during open hrs, friday at 1:30, and you're closed. This has happened several times. Either commit to your posted schedule or change your posted hrs. Not everyone has Facebook. It doesn't help if it's posted at the restaurant when you have to travel there to read it.

It's Friday and the website says it's open. I pull up at 11:02 am and no one here. No one answered the phone and the mailbox was full.

I'm a lost Texan looking for good BBQ. Got to Smokey and the Pig today and they were closed. Praying all is fine. Will have to try again later.

I was staying near this place and had to meet my sister there for a key. The place is small but the parking lot was full every time I drove by for a week and it smelled delicious. I would have loved to stop. It looked like a great hidden local gem. Why don’t you go try it and leave a post??? I would love to no. I was there for a wedding and couldn’t go. 😩

Quick stop by the road was Smokey and the Pig. Had the chicken plate with coleslaw and 3 bean salad. Great quick stop. Chicken was tender. Good Memphis sauce. Hush puppies were small as was the portions. I loved it just don't go starving $$$

Every single thing we got was delicious and perfectly cooked. We tried almost every side and there was not one weak spot. Nachos were a hit with the kids. Can’t wait to come back. This yankee is very very happy.

Love everything about this establishment. Best BBQ in NC as far as I am concerned. And what great love! The daily specials are amazing too! I can’t wait to go back to see what else they have created.

Not to many seats to sit in, it's covered outside seating. I think there's 4 tables but the bbq, absolutely Delicious!

This place is amazing! The woman who took our order was so helpful in figuring out what/how much to order, and let us customize our order so we could try the pork and the chicken. The Memphis sweet sauce was delicious and the meat was perfectly tender. My husband loved the coleslaw because it had pickles in it, and we both loved the loaded potato salad. If you're visiting the area and looking for an incredibly affordable but delicious dinner, visit Smokey and the Pig!

They take debit cards and have Apple Pay! Might seem insignificant, but this place has all the quality of a cash only barbeque place with all the convenience of a modern restaurant. I went for the brisket, which was EXTREMELY tender and ran me about 14 bucks for a plate. The owner was nice enough to let me sample the pork and chicken as well, which were also really good. It's a small joint but there's outdoor seating if you want to eat there. If you're craving great barbeque and are tired of Luella's, I'd definitely recommend making the trip.

Great little spot with delicious food! My husband got a plate with pork, 2 sides, and hush puppies, and I got the special - smoked chicken with a mango jalapeño slaw on a roll with a side of cucumber salad. The meats were perfectly smoked, and the sides were amazing. My husband loved the mac & cheese so much that he went back for more. I'm so glad we skipped our original plan for lunch and found this instead. And I'm grateful that one of their two outdoor tables opened up right when we got our food.

Pros: fast, friendly service. Good food at reasonable prices. Cons: out of ribs (whoops) and some sides (whoops), not much seating (mostly a takeout place), Styrofoam containers & cups (will never degrade, tons of better, more eco-frienfly options exist), Overall good but not great.

I was eating with a local named gary and a couple of sheriffs, it was fun haha

Excellent BBQ and slaw. THIS is REAL hickory smoked barbecue. It's running neck & neck with Green River BBQ restaurant. Hopefully, after the pandemic is over, they'll have Indoor dining. They're a bit pricy, but the food is great. I'll definitely be back for more REAL Southern style BBQ !!! The female employe's are pretty HOT. 🔥

As one of the top rated barbecue joints in the Asheville area, we had to stop here and try it. The service was very fast and they were very kind! However there wasn’t much seating and food was disappointing. We ordered a large spread to try everything. The Mac n cheese and coleslaw were very tasty but those are kinda hard to mess up. The ribs were slightly burnt (different from being Smokey), tough- not tender, and there was little to no meat on them. The pulled pork was dry and not exciting even with the sauce. The chicken was tender but definitely needed sauce. Hush puppies were tasteless. For $45, I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here again.

The best wedding caterer in Western North Carolina!! The entire staff are kind and pay attention to details. We were extremely impressed with the catering for our wedding. Everything was delicious and everyone that was at the wedding can't stop raving about how good the food was and asking who our caterer was. Reasonably priced.

Got pulled pork with two sides the meat was cold and the portions where small for 14 dollars and change i feel this is not normal dk oh and coleslaw didn't taste homemade a lot like bo jangles

Got there 8mins before they closed and still received very good food and great service.

Called around for catering quotes for a small gathering around 25-30 people from some of our usual stomping grounds. We have eaten here before and enjoyed it very much so thought I’d see what the cost would be and SCORE! What a bang for my bucks! They were so helpful with sizes and cost. The food was just amazing! We had pork bbq, mac and cheese (gone 1st) baked beans, slaw (the best i’ve had in a while), potato salad (gone 2nd) and the sweet potato crunch! Yummy! Everybody thoroughly enjoyed it and was so easy and hassle free! Thank you Smoky and the Pig. I appreciate your customer service and excellent food for a very reasonable price and will sing your praises to anyone needing a quick meal or catering! Morgan

Best bbq I have had in a while! The sweet potato crunch was delicious!!

Ordered the ribs and brisket. The brisket was overcooked, rubbery, and had no visible bark. The brisket did have very good looking smoke rings, so there's that. The ribs were decent, again lacking seasoning. The sauce offerings were excellent.

All I can say is Yum Yum give me some. This place is awesome. One of the best barbecue places around. We know the owners and they are great. They are great to veterans, law enforcement, ems, and firefighters. You cannot go wrong and the price is spot on. Keep doing what you do because it's incredible.

Went here last weekend. The owner was very nice. She let us try the meat and the sauce. They have family meals and individual ones. We wanted to get some of each meat to share. She made the suggestion of buying half a pound of each. We picked baked beans and Fry's. Had a choice of hush puppies or buns. Had two large sweet teas. Less than $40 before I added the tip. We ate lunch. Had supper at home and had enough left to freeze for a meal later on. Covered seating out side. Can take it with you. Worth the trip from Leicester. Great food very friendly people. Glad we found it. Will be back. Ohh one sauce is sweet. The other I think they said was sweet with a little spice.

Had their 1/2 rack of ribs and I was in BBQ heaven. Highly recommend trying their sweet and Memphis sweet BBQ sauces.

Great place to eat Pricing a little high but in all food well worth it

We had the combo plate... pulled pork, chicken, and brisket with two sides. All of the meats had a great smoke taste. Pork and brisket were really good. The chicken was a little tough. Hush puppies and french fries appeared to be store bought... nothing special. Mac & cheese and potato salad (sweet) were good. I believe there were 5 or 6 sauces. We tried three (sweet, hot, and Alabama ghost) They were okay. Although the meal was very filling it was a little on the expensive side. $50.00 (inc tip) for two meals and no drinks. It has a walk up and order/pay window. No line (cold Saturday). No seating or tables. Very polite service.

Really good takeout only bbq. About $25 for two people dinner with a lb of meat and two 16oz sides and 8 little hush puppies that were the best thing they have 10/10 on the puppies. Pork was good with the memphis sweet and my favorite was the gold which was perfectly sweet and tangy, not a fan of the alabama white (I probably just don’t like that type saucethough). The mashed potatoes were good (gravy was not good though) we mixed the collared greens with the mashed potatoes and it was very good. Definitely would feed 4 of us because we have plenty of leftovers.

The BBQ itself was great, the sides not so much. Instant mashed potatoes and frozen crinkle fries. My bill was around 37 bucks with tip. We both had pulled pork plates, very little quantity for the money. Overall, it was good because the flavor and moisture of the bbq was on point. Thank goodness the tables (there's only 2) that were covered had seats on those rainy day.

First time going, from out of town, the woman who took our order took her time describing the menu and how the BBQ was prepared and the options available and even a tiny bit of history the food was excellent, large portions freshly made the order area and the few tables was a covered outdoor area so with it being early winter in Asheville definitely a take out place but for sure worth the visit next time in the area I'll go back.

My favorite BBQ place in all of NC. This is my 4th time here, this time I got the family meal for 5 of us, and everything turned out perfect. Lots of good sauces, 3 huge sides (Mac n cheese and coleslaw were unbelievably good), bbq pulled pork, and some sweet potato heavenly desert. They're also friendly when ordering and picking up.

Brisket was terrible. Beans seem to have come from a can. There are better places.

Got a beef plate and pulled pork sandwich plate. Both were delicious, with nice smoky flavor. Had the sweet and vinegar sauces. I like vinegar sauces so I liked that but my wife said it was a bit too vinegary for her. Loved her sweet sauce though. Sweet tea was actually souther level sweet, so thanks for that. Ashville sweet teas can be hit or miss. Not a lot of seating but they had plenty spots open for us and even high chairs for the little one. Seems like the kind of spot you stop by and grab your food to go so not a knock against it that there wasn't a lot of seating.

I work not even 1 mile from this spot. Would live on their hushpuppies - and always get the bbq chicken sammy with slaw and alabama white sauce. Delish.

Awesome! Delicious barbeque and a real authentic feel to the place. A bare bones aesthetic accompanied by the scent of wood fires. It's a great stop for tasty BBQ.... not a lot of seating. The loaded potato salad was amazing.

Amazing place. The staff have always been nice and welcoming. My husband and I have to eat there at least once a week. Everything on their menu is delicious. I highly recommend.

One of the best barbecue places in the area! Weekly specials are always a creative blend of varied choices ranging from grilled cheese sandwiches with BBQ to burnt tips with salad! The service is awesome and these folks donate a ton of food and time to local fire and law enforcement agencies as well as international relief organizations. The only down side is that they don’t have a lot of room for eating. There is a small table under roof, and some picnic tables out back. I like to take my order to go.

YUM!! I consider myself to be a Carolina BBQ snob, and this place is IT. I ordered the pulled pork plate with hush puppies, mac & cheese, and potato salad. For the pork, I ordered the vinegar sauce -- which had a GREAT tang (some places claim to use vinegar based sauce and make it way too sweet)! Hush puppies were some of the best I've ever had. Mac & Cheese was very creamy. Glad we stopped by!

The BBQ here is great, but the sweet potatoes and mac and cheese are my favorites. There are a few spots to sit outside, and it has a classic roadside pit stop feel. That said, they pack everything up in togo boxes, so I would just as soon snag lunch before having a picnic. They also have really great catering.

The only complaint is that all the meat was dry, and I don't mean with no sauce on it, that I knew, I mean dry like not moist, over cooked maybe, but had good flavor.

I am going to agree with the majority of folks on here stating that this place has great food. We are from out of town and wanted to try something local and this place was just what the doctor ordered. The folks working here are some of the nicest people, and did I mention the food is great?! We had the pulled pork plate and the pulled chicken plate. We had hush puppies, collard greens, baked beans, coleslaw, and potato salad. They have a variety of sauces and we tried them all. Next time we are in town, we will be sure to stop by. I would also like to mention that even though they have 2 tables located outside, this is predominately take out which works well if you are staying at one of the nearby campgrounds.

Smokey and the Pig has the best food. We have never been disappointed. Weekdays they always have a special and they give so much to our community. Great food, great people!
