Coming from India to settle my child at Johns Hopkins and flat mate parents invited us for dinner so we decided to try this place Tambers for Indian food. Very authentic flavour and taste. We recommend it to all for yummy food away from home.

Chicken stake sandwich. Chicken was cold, no cooked onions as asked and provolone cheese was unmelted, just laid on bread. Horrible. Never again.

BEST chicken tikka and mango lassi I’ve had in the US! (And I’ve had a lot). Extremely friendly and now it’s my new favorite restaurant in Baltimore.

Come here for Indian cuisine. Curry is authentic and tasty. Don’t come here for crab cakes: too pricey and you can get better value elsewhere in Baltimore.

All in all we enjoyed our food at this unique restaurant where you can order Indian food AND regular breakfast. One thing tho. I have low blood sugar and needed to eat something quickly. Waiter came . I said, "Can we have an order of bread?" I might have well been from Mars by the way ge looked at me. He giggled nervously. I said, "Bread. Do you have bread? I need to get my sugar up " He said, "What?" I said, "Bread. B.R.E.A.D." He then shook his head no. Obviously they have bread. It's an Indian restaurant. That kind of thing is really disappointing. Management: Teach him the word bread. Then teach him that he could have offered a suggestion or two, as a good sever would. Otherwise, good food.

Fantastic food, (especially the Indian) and the fries were also *chef's kiss*, great people, seriously it's worth it.

This is hands-down the best chicken tikka masala and garlic naan I have ever had an on top of that. The people here are so incredibly nice. Please go here. You will not regret it. Excellent prices.

Friend and I got fish briyani and a chicken jalfrezi dish, along with a garlic naan. I personally would like the naan dough to be a bit softer with a bit more garlic. The yogurt sauce tasted a bit different from what I used to taste in other Indian restaurants, perhaps a little bit sweater. Servers were nice. I think that the food is okay. It was a pleasant lunch.

Disappointed!! Unauthentic food. They are just fooling people in name of Indian food. Paneer Tikka masala was just raw paneer tossed in a canned tomato gravy. And malai kofta was tasteless with just matar (peas) and kofta in the gravy. I have rated the food at 2 , but thats me being generous bcoz the naans were fine. I don't recommend this restaurant for Indian food!. Apart from that, when your waitress brings you two glasses of water hanging in her bare hands , you don't feel like rating the service more than 2.

Getting too expensive. $12 for a turkey sandwich and lil bag of plain utz chips

I ordered my meal through a third party app, I did not visit the location or eat in. I ordered the Chicken Korma, Samosa and Gulab Jamun. I thought the Samosas were tasty and well spiced, but, they are the smallest Samosa I have gotten from any restaurant. The Chicken Korma was very good as well, nicely spiced tho I could have used more spice, Plenty of delicious jasmine rice to accompany it. This was my first time eating Gulab Jamun, I am not sure about it. It tasted alright, maybe it was a consistency thing for me. I am not 100% sure I enjoyed it. Could it be the time due to delivery? It was cold, is it supposed to be? I am not sure, but perhaps I will try it again someday where I can order it in. Overall, a good and tasty meal, but may not be my first choice.

Had a group of 21 teenagers and only 90 minutes to eat- their menu has something for EVERYONE and we all enjoyed our meal! The service was EXCELLENT! Pricing- EXCELLENT and we had a wonderful time!!!! Loved the butter chicken! We will definitely return next year! THANK YOU!

Food too expensive and size too small

I tried most of the menu including pasta, stake, and nearly all the Indian cuisines. The foods are absolutely delicious. They use pretty high quality ingredients and the staff are super well-mannered. The place is so so clean too. I’d highly recommend to visit and try yummy food with reasonable prices in a cozy atmosphere.

Great food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Staff is the best! Very happy that they are reopened for Sunday morning brunch.

I highly recommend this restaurant, the chicken Tikka Masala was excellent! Milkshakes were great.Servers were very attentive. Always a warm welcoming atmosphere. My guests all enjoyed their meals very much.

It is an Indian restaurant that also serves diner dishes. You can go there everyday and get dish you crave for that instant. One stopped eating.

Although the staff was friendly, the chicken was burnt and tasted like it had been cooked in old grease.

A local restaurant worth supporting. Their menu is pretty dauntingly large, but you can never go wrong with their sandwich or Indian dishes. I had an issue where my DoorDash driver never delivered the food. I called and the owner sent me another delivery for free, even though he’s not responsible for the mistake

This place smells of DELICIOUSness the moment the door opens. I love the family restaurant atmosphere and huge menu. I want to try an authentic indian dish next time as I have a feeling it will be even better. Service was shared and could have been faster at a few times, but it wasn't bad at all. 2 stalls in the women's bathroom would be really great!

This is one of the higher rating places nearby so we went. Ordered naan, chicken Tikka masala, matter paneer. Chicken is super dry. The rest is good but not spectacular. We sat for a long time to chat as the restaurant isn't that busy and it is late. We make sure we weren't the only customers though. After a while no one comes to add water to my empty cup anymore. Even after I searched for a waiter. So over all just a normal Indian food place.

What happened to this restaurant? It used to be a great place to dine. The entire wait staff seemed new and our server didn’t know the answer to some very basic questions about food preparation. The prices are very high and the quality of food has deteriorated . We will not be returning!

Always a great place to meet friends for dinner

Thr food was not what I expected. I felt as the chicken was a bit dry..the amount of spice that I requested was lower than I wanted..it might have been that the waiter took it upon himself to choose for me..having a european look..maybe he thought I coukd not handle the spice..too bad. I'm not going back

We ordered takeout while visiting my daughter. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala medium spicy and it was amazing! Everything else we had was great too and I had leftovers. Food was ready super fast on a Saturday night too!

This has the vibe of a diner in but with a variety of cuisines. Perhaps, there are a too many options though it doea cater to the masses near Johns Hopkins Homewood campus. Overall, the servixe is a little sharp. Food was okay, would not recommend the Biryani and the Indian curries are rather creamy. Additionally, was told the food is NOT halal.

Cozy, delicious, and consistent. If this is what you’re looking for, Tambers is your spot. Do not listen to the detractors, we’ve been loyal Tambers customers for years, and it will remain the best Indian food in Baltimore and warmest hospitality.

Chicken vindaloo and samosas were very good--better than the cavernous, largely empty dining room would suggest.

We've been coming to Tamber's for over 20 years and have always enjoyed the food and the service. Unfortunately, the new management has significantly increased the prices which will significantly impact how often we will come. Senior discount, maybe??

I love the variety, I was able to get my Indian food fix and my son had a Buffalo chicken wrap. Everything was delicious. Service was quick. Staff friendly and attentive.

Absolutely classic Baltimore establishment, best Indian food around and my favorite potato skins and milkshake too!

Consistently amazing! The menu is varied, ranging from American and Italian to the most delectable, fresh, well-prepared, Indian cuisine. Everything is spiced, according to your choice, and service is attentive and quick to serve you. There are no TV's but soft, pleasant music, suitable for the comfort of the clientele. The dining space is always very clean. The booths are promptly cleaned for incoming diners. The quiet, uncluttered atmosphere is appreciated with seating at booths and larger tables for families and large parties. Large parties may request a bay window table (seating up to 8?) or a larger table (comfortably seating of 15+?). Tamber's never disappoints!

Love this restaurant with the diner theme and excellent Indian food and a wide selection of American classics. Service is wonderful!

We love Tambers. Such a relaxing place to dine and I love that I can get delicious Indian food while my kids get their American diner favorites.

The chicken with crab meat was simply awful, but the atmosphere was great. I will go back again but order something else.

Neat place with retro diner decor serving a classic diner menu (but not breakfast all day) and Indian food. The service was competent but disinterested. We ordered mainly from the Indian menu, which was a little bland/unbalanced for Indian food. There are better Indian restaurants in the neighborhood, but we'll go back to try the diner food.

I really like the liked the food the Ambiance was wonderful I wasn't sure how the staff was dealing with the return from the students cuz I've never been there before I imagine it was an awful lot of students for of staff members there perhaps the administrative staff needs to have more Personnel on duty for busier that's not the the fault of the staff members that's a management issue

Very broad menu, the only place I know where you can eat macaroni & cheese, samosas and a chocolate malt, with complimentary candied fennel seeds at the door. A little inconsistent with service and quality, but this is still my favorite Baltimore diner. Update: I no longer live in Baltimore but I have come to realize what a treasure samosas are. Indian is spectacular. Try the shahi paneer, butter chicken, tandoori salmon, lamb korma or saag paneer. Good cheesesteak, Reuben, blackened chicken Caesar and spaghetti Carbonara too. Fast service. Good people.

I really like this restaurant, I just wish they used a different cleaning product in their dining room because the one they use has a very strong smell and can be unappetizing.

Lamb curry and butter Naan is my go to, but everything I've tried on the menu has been good.

I specified that I needed NO SPICE in my carry out order. They made my lamb biryani with spice. I'm sensitive/allergic to all kinds of peppers. When I called to let them know of their error, they tried to explain that "no spice" was the same as "mild." My body does not agree. As someone with a strong food sensitivity, I like to know whether a place is able to work with you on that. Unfortunately, this is the second time they haven't been able to. If you have food allergies or sensitivities, this is not a place you can trust. I can't even say the food was good, because within 2 bites I realized their error, and now I'll be sick for a few days.

I had good Indian food here, and the service was outstanding.

Not the kind of one to put a place or person down but this dude in white shirt serving tables today was so disrespectful to my wife and I. Two consecutive visits to this restaurant- last was a year ago- turned sour because of this person. No professionalism no courtesy; food was ok, whole experience could have been better without though

Always a good time and good food here. The relax atmosphere allow you to just enjoy your meal without someone hovering over you. They are always around in case you need something. The food is good while not the best Indain food I had it's still good and delicious. I recommend this place for a cool friends hangout or a date.

Extensive menu of American and Indian foods, reasonable prices, good service, comfortable informal dining room. What's not to like about this place for a casual meal!

Well portioned and affordable indian restaurant. We had the lamb jalfrezi, chicken tandoori and a cheesecake. The cheesecake tasted so creamy and appetizing, the entrees were authentic (we really enjoyed the tandoori). Def will come again to try more dishes

Welcoming environment, friendly staff, great food

Tamber’s has an extensive Indian and American Menu but on this visit we came for a taste of their Indian Cuisine. We ordered the Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Jalfrezi and Stuffed Naan. All Indian dishes are served with a side order of Steamed Rice. Our selections were well portioned and tasted GREAT! The curries in our selections looked similar but tasted totally different. We couldn’t get enough of the stuffed naan…cheesy, garlicky, oniony and spice overload had us wanting more. Shoulda probably ordered 2!! The perfectly cooked rice rounded out the meal. Definitely recommend!!!

DON’T order delivery from this place. When delivery is messed up (which, let’s face it, happens pretty often) they just keep your money and give you a runaround.

The service was subpar. I received a cold cup of coffee to start, had to request a new cup, and never got a refill. Paid $2.71 for ONE cup of coffee. I would have better off going to Starbucks.

Just saw a recent customer's review on Instagram and after looking at these other low ratings I really don't see how this place is still open. Stale, old food that's not even edible? Wow, maybe a health inspector should come take a look around those refrigerators and freezers.

Tambers has been our go-to place for fine Indian foods and their service , promptness in taking orders, and quality are one the best we have enjoyed for years. The place is very clean and inviting and the staff willing and able to accommodate many of your special requests. Prices are very much within reason and they welcome all Credit cards.

Just when I didn't think Tamber's could get any better, they went and added mobile ordering, so I can order and pay for my food online (including an option to use CashApp). I've been coming to Tamber's for over 4 years and everything has always been perfect. They'll customize your order (Indian and American food!) and have it ready in no time. This place is a treasure in the City!

Every time i go everything has been great. I truly miss the young lady who worked on the take out side.

We chanced upon this restaurant after a visit to the Baltimore Museum of Art, and we're glad we did. The menu is eclectic with an extensive range of Indian and traditional foods. Most of us chose Indian and it was all excellent. The prices are reasonable and the service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!

If you looking for authentic Indian place than avoid Tambers

Shrimp platter was just ok. Mashed potatoes were cold and green beans were bland.

Best Indian food you can find anywhere!! And wonderful staff who always remember us and treat us like family :) Highly recommend the Bhindi Pyaaz; it tastes just like home. Would rate this 12+ stars if I could.

Fabulous Indian food! Much better than any food at many local, including highly touted, more expensive restaurants in Federal Hill and Inner Harbor! Service was fabulous! Very clean and spacious, bright room, able to seat two or four at booths and larger tables for six or more, positioned well for group dining (when COVID restrictions are eased.) Clean and comfortable yet quiet due to the tasteful decor. Located walking distance from Union Memorial Hospital, JHU, Charles Village, and Oakenshaw. A gem in every way! A welcome delicous oasis!

WHAT A DINER! Everything you would expect from a diner and MORE! The real deal Indian food! All of our choices were amazing. Excellent friendly service by this family owned business steps from Johns Hopkins U. Chicken Tikka masala, gulab jamun, chicken gyro and Italian sub. That enough variety for you??? Taj Mahal beer and a throw back pic of my wife at the Taj Mahal! Just go!
