WOW! The food was delicious! The service was amazing! Everyone was so sweet and very attentive! Would definitely recommend coming to eat here! Our food came out soo fast and it’s also really big portions!

Stopped here for a coffee and when I say this is the best latte I have had.. I am not exaggerating! Their housemade hazelnut was amazing! The establishment is super cute!! To top if off they have outdoor games so it seems like a great family place. I will definitely be stopping here again next time I'm in the area.

Second time here - overall good place. Pancakes are fantastic! - thinner and spongy like I like them. Coffee is very good (not the normal restaurant Sysco coffee) and reasonably priced. Bacon is really good. Baked goods and buscuits are good flavor, but a little dry. Now for the constructive criticism. Menu could use a redo.... It is very "this is our menu and it cannot be modified".... For example, need to add a pancake breakfast - 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and meat. To do this you have to order the 3 pancake menu item and eggs ($3) and bacon ($5) each separately. The $2 bacon option for the pancakes is to ??? add bacon IN the pancakes??? Okay... if you like that.... Just would like to see more options to make my breakfast how I like. Again, overall a good place, but could be 5 stars with a few tweaks.

Space is limited at times, but the food is fantastic! I recognized the chef from Kicaster Kitchen, another place where the food was incredible before they closed. Is the same chef responsible for the great food? I will just have to keep coming back to try it all out.

This is a GREAT hidden gem. Customer service was phenomenal 👏🏼, food was prepared, cooked, and served outstanding, atmosphere was very clean, busy, with a country style decor that makes you feel at home. We love it.

Where to begin , this place is great and the staff is wonderful. You know how when you go somewhere and usually your server is the only one that interacts with you ? This is not the case here , the whole staff is ready to help you. I was looking at the placard for tractor juices ( Never heard of it ) when one of the men from the kitchen came with 4 samples of the 4 flavors they had...truthfully I am not 100% who our actual server was because everyone on the staff was more than happy to give a refill of tea or answer a question The hamburger and homemade chips were really tasty . My wife got the chicken pita and I tried a piece of chicken and it was extremely tender and quite good . Their pastries are delicious too I couldn't leave without getting some . It's a bit off the beaten path for me ,but definitely worth it

This is our go to for weekend brunch, the brisket hash is life changing and their Brussels sprouts are the best we’ve had in San Antonio. Fantastic coffee, fresh baked pastries, they check every box at The Blockhouse!

Absolutely delicious spot to get your grub on! I got the brisket hash; it's so good I'd fight a hobo for it. Highly recommend you slide off I-10 and swing by here! 10/10, 5 starts, I heard Michelin is swinging by to review soon

Everything was great all around. Food was good and plenty. Servers were constantly checking on us. Outdoor seating’s lovely. Indoor seating was nice too. The pastries looked amazing. Coffee was smooth….yeah they didn’t miss much here.

The Blockhouse is all you’d want in a breakfast spot. i had a special (Pulled pork sandwich) it KNOCKED my socks off! definitely recommend their in house smoked meats. 10/10 everyone was so nice and helpful, the service was prompt and the view on the back patio was to die for. coffee was good and the waffle sandwich had the perfect texture. Thank you to The blockhouse front of staff for being so kind and making my birthday breakfast perfect.

One of the best brunches I've had in a very long time!

I have been to the Blockhouse for breakfast but I was disappointed with their lunch. I ordered the hamburger and got a side since you can’t order fries. The salad was soggy with yellow iceberg lettuce. The hamburger patty meat was very thin. My son got the grilled chicken sandwhich and the chicken was very dry and the chips were no different than kettle chips. Terribly disappointed.

They got service down. This place is on top of it all. Despite being very busy, they had quick turn over. Great view in the back as well, plus a very nice kids area. Food was good too.

They have been opened for about 2 years as I was told. We just searched restaurants in the area. This is one of the ones that popped up. We lived not too far from here and we’ll certainly will be returning. They were pretty busy but the wait was not too bad. The food came out at a reasonable time. The staff were pretty attentive and friendly. They serve breakfast all day and lunch starts at 11 AM.

Block house is just perfection for anyone who is a fan of breakfast, brunch, and lunch. The service is thoughtful. The atmosphere is appropriate for everyone. I never leave there hungry or disappointed. Well, I did go for their eggs Benedict and couldn't have it because it's a weekend delight, so I picked something else delicious, but that just means I need to go back. 😋

Came from San Antonio to enjoy this meal with mi madre! Loved the simple laid back atmosphere, friendly staff, and of course the food. Had a matcha latte myself, breakfast plate, and their waffle of the week special: Mexican caramel waffle. Everything was good but that waffle was the absolute highlight. The texture and consistency reminded me of bread pudding - absolutely yummy and perfect. Will make the trip out here again to try more!

I had a delightful late lunch at The Blockhouse Restaurant. There's free parking available, which is great. I received a warm welcome with the "greet of the day." The interior decoration and setup have a clean and inviting feeling. You order first and then grab a seat of your choice. They serve breakfast all day, with options from classic to country-style. I ordered a Cubano sandwich; while the pork was a bit overcooked, it lacked Swiss cheese, and some chips were soggy, I still found it delicious and nostalgic, bringing back childhood flavors from Puerto Rico. I only wish it wasn't so hot, as the patio seating area looked inviting. Overall, a great spot!

We have been here twice for brunch and have loved everything we've gotten! Highly recommend the jalapeno chicken and waffles, and the eggs Benedict. Both are absolutely scrumptious. Their biscuits are sooooo good too. Each time we come, we also end up bringing home some bakery for dessert, and everything has been super fresh and delicious.

Impressive! The absolute best to-go brunch I have ever had! We ordered Father's Day brunch at 11am. We were told it would be ready in 40 mins. Staying true to our regular way of life....we were about 20 mins late to pick-up.....and we were very pleased to find that they have a drive-thru....major bonus! OUR TARDINESS DID NOT EFFECT THE DELICIOUSNESS THIS PLACE IS SERVING! Not knowing the magnitude of the portion size we ordered Waffles, Classic Breakfast, Chicken Fried Steak w/eggs & last but not least by any means, French toast....for 3 1/2 of us....We were defeated....TKO'd....completely blown away by what we were handed in those brown paperbags by a VERY kind, calm & happy young lady who seemed to know the secret to a good day & how to not be bothered by anything stressful. The place was busy....people buzzing all around...Rightfully so since it is Father's day at 12:15pm....yet she was cool as a fan and knew how to do her job well! We stopped to get some milk, cuz that was going to be the final ingredient in what we thought was going to be just a regular brunch....Sundays we usually always eat brunch but around 4 weeks ago our regular place stopped serving brunch and we haven't ventured out to find another local spot until today. I can not exprsss how all around wonderful this establishment is. The only thing I did not experience is the inside but everything I saw seemed relaxing & inviting. When we got to our "spot in the shade" to eat I noticed we forgot to ask for ketchup so my husband had to walk in to the store to get some. All of these details are important because of the amount of time that transpired between picking up the food and when the first bite was biten.... And when we both took the first bite that was it....neither of us said another word....we just enjoyed the savory, oh so yummy and obviously made from love meals that we were currently devouring. Why haven't we eaten here before?! And when will we come back because I need to try everything! We were not able to finish our plates but we dang sure tried... Our food was stacked with flavor and freshness! From the blueberry compote on the French toast to the perfectly prepared over medium eggs that were the perfect temp even after we were so late. Everything we took a bite of was exquisite! I would be willing to bet everything I have that dining in at this beautiful gem is even better than getting it to go. If you are reading this review to decide if you'd like to try The BlockHouse....your late....you need to get there asap because you will not be disappointed! Superb service, beautiful presentation although in a Styrofoam box & so very fresh & delight grub! Hands down the best brunch I have had the pleasure of tasting in this area. Do not miss out on this.... ❤️

This place is so good. The staff is so kind & professional. We came with a huge group and they accommodated us quickly. They have cute games & kiddie tables outside. The food is delicious. Our fav across the board was the French toast! 10/10 highly recommend!!

Stopped here for the first time with some fellow riders (sorry, everyone, for the unexpected influx of people). I was wonderfully impressed with everything. For a small, out-of-the-way place, the food was delicious (I had the breakfast burrito), the service was excellent, and the outdoor seating made the place feel enormous, without making you feel like you're separate from the main building. I will definitely be back to try the brisket hash and the biscuits and gravy because they looked amazing, and I was told they were delectable as well. Top marks!

First visit to Blockhouse. The menu is full of choices making it tough to order. I ended up choosing a cheeseburger which was quite tasty and huge! The burger is served with homemade potato chips that were actually the best I've ever had (better than store bought for sure). Our waitress waiting on our table of nine worked her tail off and did a great job! Now for the con - the place is small and with as many people that were packed in there it was just way too loud. There was music playing, we had several conversations going at our table and many around us. After five minutes I was ready to leave. There was outdoor seating but the weather was hot and it was misting. I get it, it's a great little restaurant there in St. Hedwig, but gosh, they need to expand or do something about sound proofing, please:-)

Food is amazing! Great choices & not your everyday stuff. So when you order they aren't very accommodating for substitution or suggestions. I felt like you order exactly how it is on menu or order something else. ( And that happened on both of my visits) I gave atmosphere 4 because if you go at a busy time it's loud in there. I think the cinder block building needs some kind of soundproofing. I even heard the family next to us say " man it's so loud in here!". So it wasn't just me. So definitely try to go at non peak times if you want to enjoy your meal.

Wanted to support local so we ate here today, as always, good food and atmosphere! Love being able to sit outside!

Wow wow wow! The biscuits alone are worth every cent. We just moved to the area and there isn’t a lot of Sunday eats around but this is fairly close to us so we gave it a shot. We had a honey butter chicken biscuit and a breakfast biscuit with their potatoes. The chicken had a great crispy crust and the eggs were done exactly right. But the biscuits. Usually you tend to need a lot of drink while eating biscuits but these are just perfect and they clearly homemade. We will be making this our Sunday spot and can’t wait to dine in.

Had a fantastic birthday brunch here for my mom. Aside from having to order at the counter, the food was delicious and we had great customer service. I had the brisket hash and some sweet tea plus an iced mocha latte!! I highly recommend this place. It's also family friendly

We've been here several times now for Sunday breakfast and it always hits the spot! We've never had anything that we didn't like from here. We also made a reservation for Valentines Day dinner and it was fantastic. The steak was to die for. Highly recommend this place.

The biscuit and sausage gravy was almost palatable. The restaurant could use some soft surfaces to bocksomeof the noise. The waitstaff was barely competent. I will most likely not be back.

This is a great place to eat and enjoy homemade food. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner. The weekend gets busy but it is worth the wait. The service was excellent and they always made sure you have everything you need. Will be coming back again soon.

Wow!! Worth the drive. This was my second visit and I will be back. The food is great and the customer service is the best! Seriously the best! The make every customer feel cared about. I had brunch both times. Yes!! We’ve tried Eggs Benedict, Shrimp and Grits, Chicken and Waffles, sausage in a blanket. All were amazing. Home made.

First time and food was delish and staff exceptional.

My family is new-ish to the area, but since moving we've come here at least once or twice a month. It's definitely our family favorite now! Sometimes we take our kids, other times we let them sleep in and go for a quick brunch date. Every single thing we've ordered has been delicious. My favorite is the French toast with strawberry compote. Also the iced lattes are yummy! My husband gets the omelet with rustic potatoes. My youngest loves the smiley face pancakes and my older kids love trying the waffle of the week. The pimento cheese balls are SO good. I've not had anything out of the baked goods case that has left me disappointed yet. I keep saying I want to try their made in house gelato, but I'm always too full before I even finish the rest of my food. The staff are super kind and friendly. Even when it's super busy they make sure you are comfortable while waiting for a table to open up. They offer a military discount as well, just ask and show an ID.

It was our first time there today, the food was delicious with some exceptions. The house coffee tasted bland, that being said I have also been away from drinking coffee for some time and I drink creamer with a splash of coffee so my view on that may not be the most reliable. As for the food the actual pancake was amazing and I’ll definitely want more! But they fell short on the bacon, the reason for living! I was told they would be inside the pancake but it was actually in between them. Understandable and would not pose an issue except for making it harder to get some with each bite but the part where it really fell short was every single piece of bacon was burnt. Like black burnt. A bit unsightly to be honest. Even in the egg from the waffle sandwich they were burned! Maybe it was just an off day but if this is normal then stay away from the bacon! Other than that one heart break this place has friendly staff, nice decorations, it’s a bit small for the amount of business they are getting which isn’t a bad problem to have. The outdoor area is great for families, but if you have little ones that need highchairs be warned they only have like 3 so you’ll need to fight for them! Also the menu online is outdated the prices have gone up a bit, I was a little bummed about that because they were great deals but now they are average costs. The good news is it’s very filling for an average price. All in all it was a place we will definitely try out again! Note to owners… watch the bacon, it’s the people’s very reason to live!

I’ve lived nearby since 2021 and I am upset I hadn’t tried this place sooner! One, they’re the most sweetest people. The whole staff welcomes you with smiles, hellos, no matter if they’re behind the kitchen, cashier counter, or just waitressing. Second, their drinks are spot on. Whether you want a nice hot coffee, matcha or iced drink. Personal opinion, I LOVE matcha and the fact they have the traditional unsweetened and you can add what you desire. Thats bomb! Third, their brunch menu is on spot. No complaints there. Lastly, their shelf of baked goods. LOVE their croissant ham & Swiss and their spicy pig in the blanket. I even got more excited our 2nd time back seeing they also make in house dog treats for you to buy for your fur babies. Not only do you get great genuine service, but great food and drink options! You won’t be disappointed.

Hey! So, I recently tried out this place, and let me tell you, the quick service by this guy named Rodrigo was impressive! But, I have to admit, the food was just okay, kind of in the middle. But Rodrigos service covered up the alright food!🍔🍕🌮

My Husband and I come here almost every weekend. Not only do they have some yummy breakfast and brunch items but I absolutely love how involved with the community they are. They post updates for menu changes, specials, and if the hours are chabged for any reason. If you dont follow them on facebook and instagram you should. They ask for suggestions on what the community would like to see or eat, and the coffee?!?!?! I am a coffee snob because I was a barista for many years and I looooove the options they have to pair with yummy pastries. Definitely a must to go and experience, and they have a pick up option and drive thru if you don't like dining in! I have not once had terrible service in the numerous times I've been, all the servers and employees are super polite and accommodating and so helpful if you feel stuck and want something new. They have great recommendations 😊. SIDE NOTE FOR BLOCKHOUSE: I'm from SC so I know its a bit different than it is here, but if you guys offered a grits breakfast bowl I could live in peace lol! ❤️

The Blockhouse is the BEST! They bring a very unique menu to our community you can’t find anywhere else. The food is always fresh and delicious! I HIGHLY recommend you give them a try if you haven’t already.

My husband and I are so happy we went here Sunday! We went because we were looking for a nice place that was also dog friendly. I sat outside with our dog while he ordered inside which looks very nice from the other pictures. My dog and I were brought water and a bowl for her when waitstaff saw us :) We had fried green tomatoes, the waffle which, and the jalapeño chicken and waffles. Everything was great. The tomatoes were a little bland by themselves but the sauce was perfect for them. The chicken could’ve been moister but the breading was so yummy and crispy! I also had a honey lavender iced latte which was good too. Great service all around. Everything was about $45 in total!

The food is always on point, the staff is always amazing. I highly recommend going here to any out of town visitors. Thank you Lee and staff for being such an asset in a small community.

Everything is always wonderful! The staff say hi to everyone that walks in the door!! They post on social media daily to notify of changes to menus or to let everyone know their specials. I go every weekend and will continue to go!!

The blockhouse has amazing food, breakfast and lunch, (can’t wait to try their dinners) one thing I was ESPECIALLY in love with was their Latte. After drinking their coffee I literally can’t drink coffee from any where else. The drive thru is SO convenient, I can place an order for pickup or just order right there at the window. The women I’ve had interactions with are so nice and friendly. I love supporting this small business and plan to keep coming back!

Absolutely love this place!!! Food is amazing and we'll worth the price. Service is incredible, even when busy! We live 5 minutes away and love the convenience of ordering ahead and going through the drive through to pick up our order. As well as eating inside on Saturday mornings.

Great local breakfast spot! There are both indoor and outdoor space for seating. Food is fresh and comes out quick. They offer a great variety of baked goods and different kinds of coffee as well, if you are going on a weekend get there before 9:45 to beat the rush!

I had the chicken fried steak with eggs. The steak and breading had lots of flavor. The steak was tender and not chewy. Wife had the breakfast classic, two egg breakfast with sourdough toast. She gave it a 5 star. The coffee was a little strong but I offset it with additional cream. Overall I highly recommend this place for breakfast and lunch.

Great spot tucked out in the countryside of St. Hedwig. First time at the spot, we were very impressed. Good amount of food. I had the Brisket Hash, it was topped with fresh scrambled eggs, salsa is tasty and biscuits are amazingly delicate once you break the golden crust. It was lively and folks were happy and smiling. The weather was lacking but upon entering, things only got better. Definitely a saved location and will bring more family.

That freaking block House burger is delicious. The homemade chips are through the freaking roof. Definitely get the chipotle mayo. Super clean bathrooms, great place to eat. We will definitely come again.

The people are really nice, it is a cute little spot. The chicken is good, but the biscuits were way too thick and dry for me. I ordered a honey butter biscuit and a sausage biscuit. I didn’t have any honey in the biscuit or at least any I could taste or feel lol the biscuit was super dry I don’t think I would be back. The coffee is good though, I had the my bloody valentines.

Always in search of good breakfast places, we had a great morning at The Blockhouse! Cool little spot with great atmosphere and great views on the back patio. The service was great, super friendly and fast. Lots of food options, especially for breakfast and brunch. They have pastries as well as classic breakfast dishes. It appears as though they have a drive through as well! Cute little quiet diner not too far from home. We enjoyed it, but wish their food had a little more flavor (a little bland.). Appetizers ordered: Avacado Egg Roll (too much onion), Brussels Sprouts (had to add salt), and Fried Green Tomatoes (the cheese sauce was good, but the fried green tomatoes themselves lacked in flavor.) I ordered Buttermilk Waffles and had to ask for butter, and my sister ordered the Wafflewich (waffle sandwich with scrambled egg, goat cheese, and chopped up sausage.) She said she would have preferred to have her egg fried or sunny-side up, a sausage patty, and more flavor. “Everything was bland; it needed more flavor.” The service was good with friendly servers and hosts, and the restrooms were cute and clean. There was no music playing to add to the atmosphere, but it didn’t take it away either. In all, we enjoyed the place and would most likely come back again in the future. We realize it’s a newer establishment, so with time it will grow to be a local favorite for many.

We experienced The Blockhouse for the first time on our last visit to San Antonio. We were there for a big family get together breakfast. The server staff was very friendly and attentive to all our needs. Warning - the portions are HUGE! The country fried steak was supreme, but so big it could be a family platter. There is a bakery case where you order your food and in a moment of weakness we got some baked goods before our main breakfasts - way too much food for everyone. Definitely a place to try.

Cannot say enough about this restaurant. The very best of everything.

I love the atmosphere of this place. Very farmhouse-y and casual. Service was great, I believe the owners were walking around too interacting with guests and I admire that. Food was definitely worth the drive out here. Best French toast I've ever had. The Avocado toast was good too, but I'll probably try something else next time I go back. The lemon loaf was very flavorful, but a tad dry. My husband got the spicy pigs in a blanket and he had no complaints. Overall, we will be coming back again.

Excellent food and coffee plus a beautiful design. I wish they were open more often. My only complaint is that there is an older lady who works there and the way I've (repeatedly) heard here boss around, snap at, and generally be nitpicking the other staff can be awkward and unpleasant. Ma'am, not everything has to be done your way if it's working and there are nicer ways to direct staff.

I visited The Blockhouse with my Mom today all the way from Cibolo and we love this place! The atmosphere when you walk in is just really cool. It is beautifully decorated with a modern and sophisticated flair but the vibe is super chill and relaxed. I love how they bring you a glass of water upon arrival. The ordering process is super easy. The food is incredible! I got the spicy chicken sandwich, it was probably the best chicken sandwich I have ever had and I’ve tried them all! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Will be back soon!
