Great food, incredible service, and outstanding prices. Get the French onion burger - it's amazing!

Awesome awesome awesome!! You have got to go here!! Recommend the cheese skewer and ANY burger on their menu. Group of 5 for my boyfriends birthday. We arrived about 40mins before they closed and it wasn't a problem. 4 outta 5 of us got burgers, and they were ALL fabulous. The 5th got the steak tips, and he loved them, too. Can't imagine anything on the menu is bad. Return visit was just as good. I tried the Cuban burger w/FF Can't give them more stars, but if I could, I would.

First time since probably pre-covid that we've gone to a restaurant, ordered regular meals, and left not wanting to get something else to eat when we got home. Excellent burgers and wings. Extras were only $0.25.

Really great visit to the Boondocks the other day. Great atmosphere and service. The Sasquatch has 4 half-pound burgers, 2 slices of cheese on each, and I think 2 slices of bacon on each, along with ham and an egg. I really enjoyed it. It is finish it and the half pound fries, you get a T-shirt. I'm enjoying my T-shirt 😉 If and when I try it again, I think I would add mayo, and maybe tomato if I can. I really enjoyed it.

These guys are awesome. It's like sitting down and having dinner with your family. The food is great, the people treat you like you matter and I can still afford to stop and get some gas after I leave...lol...Prices are not bad at all and I always have a good time. I keep threatening to bring my guitar one day.

Food is good, and I never had great food, but I've also never had bad food here. Consistency is always a great thing to have in a local place to eat.

Everytime I come down this way I always have to make sure I stop here at boondocks their food and service is top knotch. Try the brisket

Every time my mother visits from Columbus she has to have her boondocks barbecue like the minute she gets here and if it's a Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday and they're not open, she will literally complain all day and night that they're not open on these days. It is some of the best barbecue I've ever had in my life everything is smoked and pulled from scratch there's nothing to not like about boondocks. From my 12-year-old daughter to my 66-year-old dad everybody has their favorite dish at boondocks they literally have something for everyone even vegetarians like my brother.

I have a mother from the city and my entire life. I've never been able to take her out to eat without her sending something back to the cook. It just so happens. I got a hankering for boondocks and I said well hell. Let me take her here And let the nightmare Begin to my surprise that woman was begging for me to bring her back to boondocks 2 weeks later so she could have some more pulled pork I was dumbfounded never in my 30 years as an adult. Has my mother ever been Even close to satisfied with any restaurants, food and I finally had found it boondocks in McConnellsville to this day we've been there probably 12 to 15 times and she has never complained nor sent her food back. I don't think y'all understand what an achievement that is for that woman. If there was a pickiest eater alive, she would easily win it hands down now that's going to say something about boondocks. Yeah I can get a little rowdy and crowded here and there but the fall off the bone barbecue and Piggly wiggly fries is enough to deal with just about anything, especially if it keeps my dear old mother Happy in her older years. The food is easily 10 out of 10 stars. The staff I'd say 9 and 1/2 out of 10. The friendlyness 9 and 1/2 out of 10. The ambience 9 out of 10. It's just a good old down home place to eat where everything sticks to your ribs.

Overall impressed with this restaurant. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was recommended by a friend. Flavor was a bit lacking on my Mac and cheese, but the wonderful service and the cute vibe made up for it. I definitely would come back if I am in the area.

Boondocks has good bbq. I was brought here by some local Ohioans so that they could show me how their state did bbq. I am from Mississippi so I have had a lot of bbq in my life, I would say that Boondocks is really good but it is not as good as my favorite spots in the south. The bbq cheese fries appetizer was incredible though. However, I thought that the cheese kurds were kind of sub par. I had the pulled pork platter which was good but i was disappointed that they charged extra for mac n cheese as a side. I ended up getting the baked beans and fries as a side which were both really good. To be honest the low point of my meal was actually the pork it was a little bit mor mushy in its consistency than i am used too. Overall it was a really good meal but I couldn’t bring myself to do 5 stars.

I can honestly say I had one of the best burgers I have ever had in my life here. I got the barbecue mac and cheeseburger and it was absolutely delicious. The burger itself alone was cooked to perfection. Everything else was just a bonus. I will be back and trying other things, but if the rest is like the burger I had then I am sure I will not be disappointed. I am absolutely looking forward to going back and trying other things. A++

We went here on the recommendation of a colleague, and when we ordered, I had the ribs. They were fall off the bone and delicious. This is a wonderful asset to the community, and a great reason to head down 60 to enjoy dinner in McConnelsville. I love the Boondocks, and recommended to everyone I know who is headed that way.

We confused this place with a Bar and Grill. They do not serve alcohol, so we didn't stay. Looked like a decent BBQ joint.

In the area & ate here for the first time. Food was good but the service was exceptional. We had 9 in our group but the ladies kept up with our refills & anything we needed. They were busy & hustling. I liked the catfish the best.

We drove an hour to eat there, everything we ordered was SOOOO GOOD!! Service was fast and friendly, huge menu of food choices. Was not disappointed at all. Well worth the drive!

Our group had 7 people. Our food came out in a timely manner, and every one of us loved our meals! Our waitress was very attentive to refilling drinks and making sure we had everything we needed!

Great place for dinner. Cozy and friendly. Many options. We got the wings which were delicious! And the motley q. I'd say the burger was the best part, great quality, and next time we will get a more simple burger. Well done folks!

They might have the best ribs in Ohio and they have some of the best burgers I have ever eaten and the prices are more than reasonable for the quality of food. Service is excellent.

I had (3) BBQ Tacos w/ a Tea for only $11(not including tip). What's even better is that these tacos may be the best tacos i've ever eaten. Completely unexpected food quality and very friendly service.

The food is wonderful and tasty. Their fried fish was crispy and not greasy. Chicken wings were perfectly cooked and not over cooked dry. Mashed potato with gravy is flavourful. Everything else was delicious. Its a great comforting place to dine in and our server was very nice. Thanks for a great experience, we will definetly come back

My father in law has a place along the river, so while visiting we decided to give this place a try. This is one of those places that your glad you tried, some of the best food my wife and I have had in awhile, and would make the 2 hour trip to eat here again to try something else, because so many of the burgers and other menu items sound interesting. My wife and I both had the grilled cheese burger, which was amazing, and my Sone had the mac and cheese burger. Wishing now that I had gotten something different so we could have sampled 3 different sandwiches. The fries, the onion rings...so good!! My father in law had the butterfly shrimp meal, the shrimp were huge and he loved them. My mother in law had the meatloaf, and said it was very good as well. Also try thier home-made deserts!! Go eat here, great food!!

Came in for lunch for the first time. Pros: very friendly service, large portions, caramel dipping sauce for the sweet potato fries provided a good twist, ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender. Cons: the "18-hour smoked ribs" had no perceivable smoke smell, taste, or smoke ring; potato was a little dry; pulled pork was a little dry (but did have a smoke ring); and it took 40 minutes to get food after ordering --- which is odd since the only item needing cooking after ordering was the fries.

Service was a delight. Brisket was my favorite, pulled pork was good. The fries are nice and crisp, the baked beans were interesting - they start off sweet but then have a spicy after kick, the mac and cheese was okay - more along the lines of velveeta, the coleslaw was my least favorite as it was too grated and more like mash.

The staff is really nice and love the food.

We had a great experience and wonderful food. We took our 3 kids and they all ate really well and loved everything. I had the pork street tacos that were on special, they were so good, I highly recommend giving them a try! Very friendly staff with good service. We will be back when we are in the area and have already recommended this place to several friends and family!

Very awesome place to eat. They have all kinds of different stuff that is amazing. Waitress we had was Angie and she was very friendly. One of the best waitresses we have ever had any where.

We were very disappointed. My wife had brisket and it was the worst I have ever had. Instant mashed potatoes. The kids meal chicken nuggets were so bad my daughter wouldn’t eat them. She basically lives on nuggets so that tells you something about the quality. I had a burger and it was ok. Not great. The fries were good. All in all, we were expecting good from scratch kind of food and definitely didn’t get it.

I would be giving this place five stars but our waitress kept walking by us and putting their head down Don't know why probably had something else on her mind we asked for some cornbread and they brought the cornbread out and it was cold. My father-in-law was so disappointed because he wanted to show me this place when we go camping down there but for a first impression it didn't impress me too much The sandwich I had and the sweet potato fries were really good recommend those.

Great barbecued pork tacos! Service excellent!

This place has fantastic food! If you're in the area, eat here! Best thing on the menu are the BBQ Pork Street Tacos! The pork is smokey and tender. The mango salsa combined with Chile Lime Sauce is a great combo. Along with sweet BBQ sauce on a crunchy corn taco the flavor combinations will make your taste buds dance! Very friendly staff and good prices. Clean and interesting environment.

Pulled pork sandwich was very good, brisket on Mac and cheese was very good. Nice atmosphere . Here again almost a year later and it is still great!

Great atmosphere, great food, and great people.. And they have pretty good prices also..And I love all the memorabilia they have on the walls and all the woodwork and the staff, they are amazing. I've been there with just two people in my party and I've been there with seven people in my party and they did a great job getting the food out each and every time.

Their signature sandwich is amazing make sure you order it with the slaw and onions on top. I stop by here every time I am in the Malta area for work. Stopped today and they were slammed and service was still prompt, a perfect place to eat in Malta and McConnellsville!

Good food friendly staff cool shirts

This place from the outside we thought was questionable. We did not know the place as we are not from the area. It is very rustic. We walked in to a very small, about 10 tables, resturant. It is very nice, clean, and quiet on a Saturday early afternoon. Alot of memorabilia of people of yester-year. Older country music was playing overhead, which I loved. This resturant is VERY much in support of our troops, and proud of it. They are selling T-shirts, where 100% of the proceeds go to the troops. I LOVED THAT!!!(I meant to buy one, and forgot). There many different ages of people visiting. From elderly, 70 ish women by themselves, to a 30ish group of 4, I believe they said they were from London, Ohio. The food was great! My husband had the sirloin steak and egg, which he said was very good. I had the southwest salad, which I was very pleased with. For appetizer, we had the shredded pork over French fries,w/cheese and BBQ sauce. Very good. It was all too much to eat, so I had my salad boxed up and took with me. The waitress was very knowledgeable, and nice. The bathroom was very nice and clean, which is very important to me as well. Oddly, the toilet paper was on the wall "behind" the toilet. 🤷‍♀️ If we are ever back that way, we will definitly be back. I believe she said there were 87 items on the menu. It is a must stop!!!❤

I would give this place 10 stars if I could! The staff were Excellent The food Delicious and the portion sizes Out of This World. My husband did the Sasquatch Challenge and earned his shirt. He couldn't stop talking about how much flavor the burgers had. It is not for the faint of heart, but I was jealous that I didn't get to taste the burger or the Tavern ham. I had the full rack of ribs, a loaded baked potato, french fries and cornbread. BEST ribs I have ever had. Can't wait to go back with family!

Had the Hickory Smoked Brisket. It was amazing. I've had BBQ in Missouri, Texas, and Arkansas. Take it from me when I say it's legit!

Mouth watering ribs, bone sticking loaded baked potatoes, succulent shrimp , and not to mention melt in your mouth n.y. strip steak. Don't take my word for it, if your ever in the local area stop on in and give it a taste for yourself...Your Welcome!

Excellent food! This was my first time eating here. I had the pulled pork sandwich with mac & cheese as my side. It couldn't have been better! A thick bun packed high with delicious, perfectly cooked shredded pork with their homemade sweet BBQ sauce poured over the top of the meat with the bun top on it. It was hot and fresh and juicy. No reheated meat used here! The BBQ sauce is so good to! The Mac & Cheese comes in a little kettle bubbling hot with melted grated cheese on top. Very tasty! The service was really good as well. We had a very nice server. The restaurant is clean as well as their restroom. There is wheelchair access, as both sides of the entrance have a wide ramp up to the door and the door is wide enough to get in with the wheelchair. I will definitely eat here again and would highly recommend this restaurant. Their menu is vast with many food items to choose from. Everything from BBQ Ribs to steak, shrimp and many burger choices to name a few. Also several appetizers as well.

Thought we'd try this place outon our way home in northeast Ohio. Everyone there was so friendly. The food was fantastic. Our server was so knowledgeable and took her time with us.

This place never fails to deliver absolute taste and delishousness. This time around I ordered The Cuban, wife ordered the Taco Salad, and daughter ordered the Smokehouse Mac & Cheese. Wow! The baked Sweet Potato with butter & sour cream...Fantastic! Everything about this restaurant is absolutely Fantastic! I love it.
