Get the goulash soup! It's delicious

My son and I dined here on a Thursday evening. We were pleasantly greeted by a lady who was our server; after being seated she brought us each a bowl of soup and a basket of bread and the menus. I chose the chicken crepes and my son chose the fish dinner in white wine. The food was delicious and the portions were large. The restaurant was filled with patrons by the time we left.

Very good food. Service, and atmosphere. We will be back soon thank you.

We were welcomed with a bowl of hearty soup and a slice of fresh bread, nourishing and yummy. Our waitress was attentive and prompt. Our dinner was heavenly... chicken paprikash with noodle drops... the chicken juicy & tender, the sauce to die for, the noodles fresh. This is home-style cooking at its finest. The decor is a fascinating insight into Hungary and Transylvania. And the price is very reasonable. Congratulations to the Kastal family for creating and maintaining this gem of a restaurant. May you have many more years of success.

Saturday buffet was delicious and I'd called ahead so she made me a spinach-filled crepe with cream sauce and special veggie stew because I'm vegetarian. Super friendly and welcoming vibe! Loved the vanilla cream pastry dessert. Very reasonable price.

Went for the Saturday night buffet with my family on our way to Jennerstown speedway. We made google reservations a few days ahead of time. I'm blown away by the authenticity of the food, friendly nature of the staff and other guests, and the quaint nature of this family establishment. Haluski, stuffed cabbage, meatballs, pierogi, and so much more. And the homemade soup with bread as soon as we sat down, no questions asked, here is your soup! Even my kids ate every bite of that wonderful homemade broth. Just awesome all around. Thank you for the wonderful dining experience with my family. You guys have something unique and enjoyable. We will be back with more friends and family.

We loved this place!! We took my 90 year old Hungarian uncle. He said the soup "tasted just like Mom's Sunday soup." He loved the Goulash. The chicken paprikas was outstanding! Can't wait to go back!

Valentine's day dinner! Drop noodles were excellent! Bread and soup were homemade and delicious! White sauce was tasty. Dessert was excellent too! I gave it a four because I wasn't impressed with the chicken breast i got , I felt it was slightly undercooked . I orginally wanted beef, but it wasn't available. But, I would go back!

Just discovered this little "out of the way" place. This restaurant serves mostly Hungarian/Transylvanian food. It was simply fantastic. The food was homemade prepared fresh and delicious. The server was excellent It was so good, I can't wait to go back!! When we sat down, she brought us homemade bread and a bowl of soup on the house!!

Old School Mom and Pop restaurant ( Mom literally home cooks all the food). They have a buffet on Saturday that features most of the regular menu items. It's worth a short exit off of the 30. Please drive slower after you exit kids and animals are active in the area.

Have gone here a couple times for the Saturday night buffet and it doesn't disappoint. Not your every day American dishes and that's the point going. Check out the menu online first and you'll see. Try, and enjoy something different.

Saturday buffet is just a fabulous old-world treat. So many choices! Elizabeth, the owner and master cook is there all evening making sure the buffet is full and guests are happy. The world needs more Darlingtons!

We LOVE this place! If you want to experience true old-world cooking in a family-friendly, family-owned location this is it. Go on a Saturday for the first time so you can try a variety on the buffet. The table-service soup always changes, but you will love everyone. And the bread! OH MY! If you don't want carbs, stay away...because you will not be able to resist Elizabeth's homemade bread. Sometime served warm, and always with that fresh-baked crust. Also, on Saturday an accordion player often adds to the Old-World ambience. It's fun to look at the European memorabilia throughout. For other main items...Chicken Paprikash, Hungarian Goulash, and perfect Haluski (drop dumplings). And genuine European Creme for dessert.

I love this place. Authentic homemade Hungarian food. Go on Saturday, they have a buffet, which gives you a chance to taste a wide variety of delicious foods.

Absolutely love the authentic food. We've eaten there many times, and have never had a bad experience. Saturday buffets are our favorites. Everything is brought out in small dishes, so it's always fresh.

I was leary about trying this place because of picky eaters. My boys tried just about everything on the Saturday buffet and left stuffed, asking when we were coming back! I would definitely recommend 100%.

We visited this restaurant one time when we bought a camp in the area. Was not impressed. Very dated atmosphere to the entire establishment. Reminded me of something from the 60's when I was a child. Food average, nothing to write home about and it was quite pricey for what was offered. Will not return.

I love the Darlington Inn. Elizabeth is so kind. She works very hard to put out great food. I would highly recommend. The chicken paprikash is a personal favorite. The Saturday buffet is great too. Warm cozy enviroment also.

Authentic Hungarian cuisine prepared with love.

Situated off the beaten path, on a 2-lane rural road, we almost drove past it without seeing it - signage is VERY sparse. The parking lot is across the street/road from the establishment, and there is NO designated Handicapped parking in close proximity to the entrance(s). There are 2 entrances, both with handmade signs: one says USE OTHER DOOR, the other says DO NOT PARK IN FRONT OF DOOR. Once inside, we found the decor to be clean, quaint and far from modern. As is our usual choice, we sat at the bar, on the very old, very worn out and very rickity bar stools. Oh, and they do NOT accept credit cards - it's CASH ONLY! We visited on a Saturday evening, unaware that it was Buffet Night. It was the dinner hour, and there were only 4 other people in the dining room. There were approximately 10 items on the buffet, and between the two of us, we sampled everything offered. It would be difficult to comment on the taste of the various dishes as NONE of them were hot, with most being just barely lukewarm. What we could taste of them was disappointing. For desert, there was a stale chocolate sheet cake, and a puff pastry creampuff cake that was actually pretty tasty - both were obviously store-bought. NOTE: I grew up on middle European ethnic foods, so I'm very familiar with the cuisine and dishes offered - NONE of which resembled what I'm used to. The men's room is absolutely abysmal. The commode is VERY low to the floor and VERY small in diameter - more like a 50-year-old child's "potty chair". There are NO assist bars - not so much as a handle on the plywood door. It would be EXTREMELY difficult and challenging an able bodied adult - much less someone who (as I am) is handicapped. All in all, there is NOTHING about this establishment we would recommend to anyone. We certainly won't be returning, and, if you're handicapped, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Had dinner here on a Thursday evening. The owner and hostess were so gracious. Authentic Hungarian food and decor. We enjoyed the Goulash and the fresh homemade bread was so yummy. Would be nice to be in town to try the weekend buffet.

Authentic Eastern European/Hungarian food, I had the stuffed cabbage with noodles, and my wife had the pork cutlet with mashed potatoes. Food was delicious and the service was great. Beware this is a cash only establishment.

Great local restaurant with authentic Eastern European/Hungarian food. Had the bean soup, stuffed cabbage and noodles and the kremes for dessert. Everything was just amazing and super delicious. Can’t wait to come back. I will be back soon and often.

This place has become a tradition! Every time I visit, we come here. The food is authentic and amazing and the staff is just the right amount of attentive.

We visited with friends from PGH on Saturday for the buffet. The restaurant was completely full. We were greeted by friendly happy faces. The food was amazing! We visited several times over the years but the food this time seemed super delicious. The owner came around to the table, asked how the food was and thanked us for visiting…so sweet :) I’ve wondered if they would survive COVID; so glad they did! Thank you for a lovely meal and perfect experience.

I stopped to get a menu and to ask questions for a future visit. Since my ancestry is Slovakian, this Transylvanian and Hungarian cuisine restaurant piqued my interest. Dining room seats maybe 25, but you can eat at the bar, which one diner was doing. Entrees in the mid-teens $. On Saturday, a buffet is served and menu ordering is not available. I am very curious to try halupki, halushki, and other ethnic dishes I am not familiar with. Hope this app taps me again after my next visit when I will dine here.

What an amazing place! Absolutely beautiful! The homemade food is outstanding and the accordion player set a perfect mood! It really reminds you of Sunday dinner at Grandmas house! I can't say enough about this little place. We will be back with our family and friends!!

Finally made it here after years of recommendation. The food was delicious and authentically Hungarian; the service was courteous and very friendly! A hidden gem nestled in the woods behind Idlewild Park. Highly recommended! Photos here are Pork Scallopini, Chicken Paprikas and homemade sour cherry liqueur 😋

Wow! Can't say enough about the food and value of this place. Only one lady running everything during weekdays, so might need some patience. Thing to know pirogue appetizer is deep fried frozen, but the dinner is real homemade and best I've had since Mom passed. The dump noodles and home made unusual soups and bread are worth the trip themselves. Don't go home without a piece of cream.

Relaxed and homey. Sit at the bar or dining room, either way enjoy a great fully homemade dinner. Take time to chat and maybe hear some Hungarian spoken since it truely is run by a Hungarian family. When the menu says served piping hot its best to take it slow on that first bite and not ruin the delight. You will be full, but even if you can't eat another thing take home a kremes. You will be glad you did. I never had anything like it before...it was amazingly Delicious!!!

Had dinner with friends here and found the food to be delicious and unique. The menu on Saturday is buffet so you get to sample everything. Food is homemade and very delicious! You definitely need a reservation as the restaurant isn't very big and gets busy. There is entertainment on Saturday also. The buffet includes several desserts in addition to the many home cooked entree items. If you are looking for something different to try, call and make a reservation and stop by.

This is a hidden jewel! Traditional Hungarian meals, best meatballs I have ever tasted AND price is so affordable!!! The proprietor is an excellent chef!!!

We were there for the Saturday Hungarian buffet. (Keep in mind that on Saturdays there is no regular menu.) To be honest, I was concerned about eating things I couldn't pronounce or spell, but it was all very good. Even better were the desserts. The staff is quite attentive and checked in with us often. It reminded me of eating a Christmas dinner at Grandma's house.

I liked it. Needed reservations, but once there, they had good hunky food. Polka band was entertaining. My family was really happy with their meal. Everything was well seasoned and well cooked.

I'm Hungarian and my dad and grandparents are from Hungary. It was like being at my grandmothers eating dinner. Food is fantastic and service is just awesome. At the time they had live music. I had my girlfriend there on a date. She was amazed how great everything was. I recommend everyone to try this place. It's fantastic and i plan on going there at least once a month from now on.

Great staff, beautiful atmosphere and delicious authentic food like a trip back to Grandma's house. I think his name was Joe if not mistaken playing accordion. He is fantastic and added even more magic to a special night.

I have only visited the place two times, and every single time i visit i am fulfilled in terms of quality of food and especially exceeding quality in service. Staff are extremely friendly. Every single member.

We traveled to Pennsylvania for my sons wedding and not being from the area I had no idea where to go for a rehearsal dinner for 60 people! I wanted a friendly cozy restaurant with great homemade food, reasonably priced, entertainment and something for everyone. I found that and even more at the Darlington inn!!!! I can't say enough on how warm and inviting this restaurant is!!!! The food was freshly prepared and baked and so so delicious, everyone young and old raved about their meal!!! Elizabeth the owner and her daughter Klara took care of us like we were family!!!! They are beautiful people!! The staff was also very accommodating and friendly. Joe Malone AKA Mr Oktoberfest played the accordion for us and WOW what a fun talented artist he is!!!! His music and energy was so contagious everyone got up and danced!! He even does an amazing stairway to heaven on his squeeze box!!! Our evening at the Darlington inn will forever be in our memories and was a wonderful way to kickoff our wedding weekend!!!!! Thank you so much Elizabeth you are the best😘

Food was outstanding. Service was excellent. Not a bad thing to say about eating here. I was with a party of 4 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, desert as well. A nice touch was a bowl of Hungarian goulash as we sat down and started to look at the menu and drink menu. I would definitely recommend going here and I will be back often.

I was very disappointed, right from the start. We were served a soup that was tasteless, loaded with shell noodles. The buffet was small, the food not identified and greatly overcooked. The meatballs were hard, over cooked and I'm not sure of its composition. I didn't know what I was eating, nor did I take much on my plate as it did not look appetizing and mashed up. The service was okay, the folks friendly, the desserts - some good, the cheese cake tasted horrible (cut into squares from a large sheet pan). The other desserts were okay, but the buffet looked sloppy and unappealing. I was a guest, so I didn't know what the pricing was. They had someone playing an accordion - way to load and it was annoying. You could not have a conversation and be heard. The over-loud music was not a bit soothing but an outright nuisance. My first and last visit to this place.
