It's just your average hamburger & hot dogs but with a friendly face and you can sit by the river add a picnic bench or in your car and be served. It's a great road trip stop for a good quick meal. The original fish sandwich was delicious however, I would suggest getting the tater on the side so you're fine stays together. Refills are not free, full price. 🙂 The fence has been around a long time and you can tell by the customers they're bringing in. It was wonderful to see many elderly friends meet up at The Fence for face to face convo & laughter.

My wife and I love this place. We stop in at least twice a month. Wish they were open year round.

Wish they has chicken fingers or popcorn shrimp for kids. i think this would be a great addition to the menu!

Small portions. Have better food in the area I live in. Would not recommend it to anyone.

This was a great end to our day kayaking on the water with the kiddos. Staff was efficient. Old time feel drive up with food trays hanging off your car window. Small easy menu for wasn’t bad. View was amazing.

The Fence has been a family favorite for ages. We love sitting outside on the picnic tables to enjoy the view. The food is delicious and affordable.

I loved this place! Literally a quaint, mom & pops feel, beautifully scenic drive-up, along "the fence", along the Susquehanna. Indoor seating, outdoor picnic tables along "the fence", or let them service you in your car along "the fence". Fish Sandwich was yummy. Cool T-shirts only $10!

Been eating here since the mid 60's admit I didn't make it last year, made it today, what happened to the tartar sauce, not the same, it was ok but not as good as it used to be!

They force you to pay a tip they have no walk up window it's ridiculous when you pay they make you feel like a jerk if you don't pay a tip the food is terrific little over price they have no walk-up window where you don't have to pay a tip so if you're against paying the tip don't go there

I've been coming to this place for over 40 years. I even worked as a waitress back in high school. Last year it started to go downhill. I don't live in the area anymore and when I go home I always look forward to goingto the Fence. The food was okay. Their tartar sauce was awful and the fries tasted like fish. PLEASE GO BACK to the original way you were doing business. I won't come back again! Not worth the money. Tartar sauce was absolutely awful. You used to have the BEST tarter sauce around. YUCK 🤮

Great food! Delicious ham bbq, burgers, and fish sandwiches. Fries are hot and crispy. Old-fashioned car hop service is nostalgic. Open for the season, definitely worth the drive!

Love the Fence Drive-In in Lewisburg for the yummy food and the beautiful view of the Susquehanna River. Must add that I prefer the quiet to the music but that's just my preference as I find the picnic atmosphere by the water peaceful when quiet

Love, love, LOVE this place!! Used to come here all the time growing up, and it's STILL a must-go anytime I'm back in the area. The fish sandwich is a hallmark of this place! Easily the best thing on the menu, though they make a pretty good shake too. Also, note that it is a SEASONAL restaurant, i.e. closed from roughly mid October to mid April.

The real stars of this place are the tartar sauce and the milkshakes

Amazing experience. Right along the river. Can either stay in car for service or sit at a picnic table. Wife and I got the fish sandwich, with fresh cut fries. Amazing. Very fast service. Milkshakes were great also. Highly recommended Update: this experience was horrible. It was 730p, so not sure if they were rushing before 830p close, or what. fries were undercooked and gross. milkshake had a funky taste and had to be trashed. seafood dinner was disappointing also... only good items we got were fish sandwich and burger... thought you should know about our experience 😔 No one cared to answer on Facebook either

Dinner by the Susquehanna river. Food came out surprisingly quick considering how crazy busy it was on a Friday evening. Friendly server. Orange drink was out, but milkshake made up for it.

The Fence has a wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is delicious and the view of the river and farm fields are beautiful.

There was 15ish people in our party. The girls were kind and accommodating. They allowed us to put 3 picnic tables together as long as we put them back. Food was great and all came out together.

Seasonal restaurant that we look forward to every year. I got 4 filets of fish (very fresh tasting), pile of fries, cabbage slaw & a large drink for $15. Seriously, that’s a deal. BTW, the cabbage slaw is not the sugary stuff, it’s the real German slaw. Loved it. I would suggest if you are mobility disabled to stay in your car. Seating was not comfortable for my husband.

Wow, what a unique place. Gorgeous riverside views, with indoor and outdoor picnic table seating right next to the river. Fish sandwich and fries were delicious. Affordable prices. Attentive service. Chock full of nostalgia. An off-the-beaten path gem well worth driving to.

A perfect night to sit by the river and eat a famous FENCE FISH SANDWICH! Burgers, fries, shrimp and shakes (one of each - chocolate, vanilla and strawberry) were excellent too! Waitress was a sweetheart.

Went here for first time. We were from out of town. I ordered the fish sandwich. While the food was good, it was also very disappointing. It was literally a fish stick on a hotdog bun. And they did not bring our drinks out until food was brought out. Even though we were sitting in the hot sun.

We stumbled upon this place as we drove through Central Pennsylvania, And it is a lot of fun! There are not many places left with CarHop Service, but this is one of them, and it is a great nostalgic trip. The fish sandwich was tasty, and simply but well prepared. The cheeseburger was also excellent. The staff were pleasant as can be, especially to a couple of strangers who didn't know what they were getting into. Finally, it's worth noting that this location is right next to the Susquehanna River, and the view is absolutely beautiful. On a nice day this is an excellent place to enjoy the river, enjoy a little nostalgia, and eat some good food.

The fish basket is what the Fence is known for, but it is really the tartar sauce that makes it.

Really good fish sandwiches, French fries, tartar sauce, ham and cheese. Nice outdoor seating. Staple of Lewisburg. Only reason not 5 stars is think it is over priced.

Small portion for the price don't go if very hungry

We love the fence and have always gone many times each year, but we were just there yesterday and we’re pretty disappointed. Portions have always been small that my husband and son order an extra sandwich with their baskets, but this year they are even smaller! My 5 and 8 year olds ate their entire sandwich and fries and were still hungry and they are not big eaters! I also about died when I had a $60+ bill for the little bit of food we got. I get prices have gone up but when you raise your prices and then give even smaller portions it’s ridiculous. This is why businesses are failing as we won’t be back and I know we are not the only ones either as I have seen it posted on social media about your portions and my parents and grandparents refuse to even come back after hearing it.

A great little outside seated resturant along the creek. Also do car window service too. The fish sandwiches are served in a hotdog bun with homemade tartare sauce, very good. Waitress staff were friendly & quick. A great find with quality food.

Best fish sandwich ever! Nuff said.... Not sure about this so... it's best to ask - think they might use peanut oil on the fries. Simple, if you have someone in your family allergic to peanut oil, just ask. It's a great drive in. Good food, great service, good value. See you there!

I had The Fence's Own Fish Sandwich basket (with tartar sauce and fries). A gastronomical delight! And it's right on the river, too. Cool! It was kinda chilly so we ate inside but lots of people braved the weather on the outdoor seating. Great local cuisine. And they have their quirks which makes it extra special....cash only and the waitress makes your change right at the table. Hah!

It has a nostalgic feel to it as you’re eating in the car with the carhops (not on skates) visiting you when they see your lights on. Tonight I had the fried chicken. For $10, four pieces (2 breasts, 2 wings, fries, applesauce, and a roll. Sounds like a good value to me!

Fantastic place to eat! Excellent scenery. The fish sandwich is a staple of this place, and it truly is excellent. Highly recommended. Cash only, but they have an ATM. They even bring your food up to your car window so you can eat in the lot if you want to. 5 stars.

The fence has the best fish sandwiches hands down. The fish sandwich comes on a hot dog bun. The tartar sauce is delish!! I get extra. The ham BBQ with relish is another favorite. The fries are fresh cut. Dinners are great too. When you get there turn on your lights and they come to your vehicle. There are also picnic tables and a nice view of the river. Becareful when leaving, cars do not slow down. This is a seasonal restaurant.
