The cheese boards are excellent.

WOW! Went in on a Saturday afternoon to a quick bite to eat, ended up trying the Champion cheese board. First off, the staff were super welcoming and friendly (with great beer recommendations)! The cheese board was out of this world! We were blown away by the size and selection. Definitely worth your money!! Can’t wait to come back!

Great appetizer and meal! Draft beer was fantastic! Our server (Elder) was enthusiastic and attentive. We will definitely be back!

Have stopped by two years in a row now while visiting the Adirondacks from the Midwest. Service is amazing, food is delicious, and I'd you stop by their sanctuary farm you'll be even happier to support them!

I’m a local as they say but the vibe of this place is horrible for the price they charge for average quality food and the small portions they serve. If you order a main dish the mashed potatoes will be cold and the carrots will have no taste. I’m not one of your farm animals The hostess the night I went looked miserable as usual and refused to seat me where I requested but gave the table later to a customer with no reservations. I was not told by my server that there was complementary cheeses that night after I ordered a cheese board, and then proceeded to hear the waitress inform another customer that there was one.Really Unfortunate our area has very few restaurants and this one doesn’t deserve local support. Good Luck learn to treat all people equal. .

Loved this place. 4 of us shared a small cheese board and it was delicious! I had the chicken pot pie for dinner and it was the best I ever had. Fish and chips was crispy and fresh and the burger was also fantastic. Highly recommend.

One of the best charcuterie boards I've EVER had. Stellar service, good location, food looks great, awesome drink selection...overall good vibes. Make sure you say hi to Rachel! I will be back to sample ALL the boards they offer.

We visited with a large group with kids after a long day at great escape. Our family has been huge fans of Nettle Meadow cheese for a while but this was our first time making it to the restaurant. Service was a bit slow (they said they were a bit backed up due to large parties/big orders inside) however - our server Eldon was amazing, kind, and attentive. The food was 10/10, can’t even describe how good their cheese is. Make sure to visit the gift shop next door and stock up. Can’t wait to come back!!

They are great people and it is a very cool Adirondack style log building.

Went for a late lunch with a group of 8 people without a reservation. They accomodated us without any difficulty. The server managed the group with ease and efficiency. She was also friendly. They sent out a grilles cheese sandwich that was so badly burnt it was inedible. They replaced it with a perfect grilled cheese but really shouldn't have even sent the first one out. Otherwise a great experience. Lots of good food. The cheeses are amazing. It's obvious why they're award winning. No visit to the Hitching Post is complete without a visit to the store for cheese to take home.

Love the atmosphere. Love the artisan cheeses. Disappointed in lunch. while the French onion soup was tasty, the half sandwich left much to be desired. It was all baguette with little filling. I ordered the bacon/pear/kunik - very little of each!

I haven’t even eaten yet but I can definitely tell it’s going to be great, you can smell the greatness as soon as you walk in and the service is exceptional so yeah 👍 I May reply later after but for now bon appétit 😋

Amazing cheese board! Definitely highly recommend - perfect mix of everything

My co worker & I stopped in for lunch. We aren’t from this town, but we were hungry & when I went inside, I felt under dressed because we were working across the street & we are carpenters. But the waitress was very kind & the staff made us feel comfortable. Food was very good. Seemed like a great place & deserved a review.

I'm local and wanted to support local business. Unfortunately, the server was absolutely rude. Complaining about tips in front of us. Tips are not mandatory, so when one is left, after you did minimal work, you should be greatful. Seemed like whenever we spoke to her she was inconvenienced. Maybe try looking for a better fitting job. Food was mediocre at best for the price. Absolutely do NOT recommend.

6 of us stopped in on our way through town, the service was amazing! A huge plus is that the restaurant and gift shop allows dogs. They even have a small dog-friendly food menu and my dog was able to eat, even with his dietary restriction:) thank y’all!

Food was fine but portions were very small. Prices are ridiculous for the amount of food you receive. Very small glass of wine 🍷 12.00 dollars. First time I was there will not be back.

The server was patient and kind with our rambunctious children. We had the beginner’s cheeseboard which was delicious but I wish there were a little more crackers to go with the cheese. The chicken pot pie and the fish and chips were good. We also got the poutine and that was delicious as well.

Just had lunch with my daughter, her husband, and grandson. Wonderful food and plenty of it . . . and a fabulous waitstaff led by Katie her sister, Sarah, and friend Annabel. I might be a bit prejudiced as Katie and Sarah are my granddaughters!

The Hitching Post hosted my sons wedding 8/5/23. They did an incredible job helping set up the restaurant the way my son & his wife wanted it. The food we chose was absolutely amazing, the appetizers and cheese board were beautiful and tasty. The service was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. They stayed late so we could set up and were there for every question or need. I can't thank them enough for everything. Highly recommend!!

The cheeses and pot pies are really delicious, and the staff is terrific! Strongly recommend.

We had “the beginnings” cheese board and it was amazing!!! Complete with fresh honeycomb, red pepper jelly, and salami. Delicious! Service was great and gracious. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Went on a Wednesday for lunch and everything was delicious. The habanero peach cheese is the best. Our server, Elvin (?) - I wish I could remember his name, but he was really kind and attentive. Will definitely go back when I’m in the area again. Luckily my family lives nearby!

I am Brazilian and I have been traveling to USA since 2015. I want to say that was the FIRST time that I LOVED the food and service after so many places that I visited. I had the chance for to try the genuine american food; the american cousine. The staffs are so friendly! The restaurant is beautiful and in the region there's other pretty restaurants however the food is ''ok''. So... Yeah... that's the place for a REALLY good food.

The new owners kept the basic decor I remember from when a teenager, but the offerings are new. My sister and I had dinner and it was great. I had the steak medallions which may have been filet since they were so tender and perfectly cooked. She had the maple glazed short ribs which were also tasty. the sides- garlic mashies and roasted root veggies were good and the poratoes were a large serving. They have a simply lovely cheese and relish board on which they were highlighting their award winning Adiron-Jack cheese- I bought a round to take home along with a jar if Quince and cranberry jam. With all the pre dinner goodies we only ate half the meal there! The server Elvin(sp?) was very attentive, kept our water carafe full, brought us a cheese sampling when he felt our dinner was taking too long and brought the dessert menu without being asked. Unfortunately the dessert we wanted they were out of, but there will be a next time.... there is a full bar and the gift shop has all kinds of yummy cheese, toppings, condiments and even meats from Oscar's smokehouse. Travel back in time to the 40's... Great food, wine, beer selections. Cheese is award winning and rightfully so. Must try all of them. Wednesday there's a cheese board appetizer that is amazing. Must must must visit in the ADK's.

The staff at The Hitching Post are incredibly hospitable and were able to accommodate our large group (and dog) that wanted to eat outside. Well worth an hour+ drive for the cheese boards and wine. The shop is great and we always stock up on their cheese when we're in the area.

This place is a gem! Delicious cheese boards and dishes incorporating their cheeses. Everything is fresh! They patronize local breweries and vineyards, which is great. The restaurant itself looks like history but is very cozy and unique. The staff is great and knowledgeable.

Excellent food. Charming, rustic building. Friendly, attentive staff (not too attentive) Artisanal cheeses made on site and featured in menu items. Bar or table seating available. Draft local beer favorites and seasonals. Wines and canned beers also available. Worth the trip! Reasonable prices. The goats reside at a separate venue 40-45 minutes away.

With out a doubt, a dining experience. The award winning homemade cheeses are something to savor. Bon appetit!!!
