We went to Tomales Oyster farm but we realised that the oyster is not prepared for consumption on the spot so we were recommended to Marshall store. Both places are owned by the same family. On the look of the prices, it is very expensive to charge $24+ for just 6 raw oysters when you can get 12 for $18+ at the oyster farm. Oh well, we are paying for the labor costs. My bf loved all the dishes and all the seafood were fresh. I usually avoid oysters because it is so hard to get one that doesnt have any fishy taste to it and I am surprised that the oysters here does not have that taste! I ate 3 of the 6 pieces. We went a little crazy with the ordering because we were so hungry. Got the seafood stew, po boy sandwich, smoked fish, and grilled oysters. The food was great. We spent our labor day weekends in marin area and so far this was our most worthy meal. The portions were so great, even though the pricing is on the high side but you will get this pricing all around marin / point reyes area. The only downside of this place is the lack of parking area and the toilet is like a hiking site. Very disappointed to see this type of toilet.

We were staying in Bivalve and our host recommended The Marshall store when we told her we were looking for a place to get oysters. She told us it was a local family owned place, had more reasonable prices than Tony’s and they baked their own bread. Sold! It’s a casual eatery where you order at the counter and find your own seat. They offer wine by bottle, half bottle or single serve and beer and sodas too. My husband and I went for lunch. We ordered and found a seat outside overlooking the bay. Our It was a chilly, windy day so bring layers if you like eating outside. Our food came out quickly and it was almost a full house on Thursday at lunch. We started with a bowl of clam chowder served hot and delicious. We had raw, smoked and BBQ oysters. The raw ones were my favorite, very fresh and served with a mignonette including fresh chopped herbs. BBQ ones were served with the most delicious garlic bread and were my husband’s favorite. They were BBQ but still plenty juicy and covered with a lightly spicy BBQ sauce. Lastly the smoked oyster. They were well prepared but I didn’t love the flavor combo: served on a crisp toast, layer of goat cheese, oyster and a mayo base aioli. We then split a shrimp po’ boy sandwich. No regrets there. It had big, succulent shrimp perfectly seasoned with blackened seasonings, freshly made mayo free slaw, sliced tomatoes and a fabulously fresh roll. We would definitely recommend and return ourselves!

If you come here, I recommend their grilled oysters and dining outdoors while looking at the bay. The prices here are very reasonable and the portions are decent. There's nothing more relaxing than this in sunny Northern California. When you leave, if they still have any sourdough bread, be sure to take one home with you. That was the best sourdough bread I've ever had.

Went when there was limited menu and shuck your own oysters. The oysters were fantastic, as was the campechana. I will definitely be back when in the area.

Fresh. I like their sauce with the parsley too. A bit more interesting than the standard cocktail sauce lemon combo. The BBQ was a sleeper hit as well. Not so much BBQ sauce and slow smoke, but rather a more acidic, tomatoey sauce and grill char. Chowder is pretty solid too. It is coastal cold and windy though. Bring a jacket.

The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure our if we were satisfied. The oysters were incredibly fresh and flavorful. But don't stop at oysters; their menu is full of other delicious seafood dishes and creative cocktails. I highly recommend giving them a visit.

My fiancee loves the Oysters here so it became a special outing. The Tritip sandwich is the BEST! Bread is fresh and delicious. Come here for a good time!

Great clam chowder and Po Boy Sandwich

Super fresh, tasty oysters. When I went, there was no water to wash and only portable outhouses. Seems like a hygiene issue. Bring your own water/washing supplies, I guess.

After growing up in San Francisco, I'm embarrassed to say that I've never been to this place until today! But now I can boast that I've had the best oysters in the Bay Area, hands down. Not only that, we split two of the sandwiches and from the bread to the crazy good combination of textures and flavors, let's just say, I'm stuffed with joy and a food coma! Go try it when you can. Get there at 11 ish when they open to maximize your experience and come hungry!

This is the best place to be with friends to enjoy oysters, beer, and Marshall CA. Unfortunately, it is always packed, so be prepared to wait for your food.

So disappointing to watch a place that used to be amazing fall so far. But after multiple visits, I’m not willing to waste any more money at the Marshall store. I used to bring friends here and my family started coming before it became a big touristy money grab. We got a shrimp poboy, 24 oysters Rockefeller and 12 raw oysters and three iced teas and it was close to $300!!! $27 bucks per half dozen for oysters Rockefeller?!? What! If someone from the restaurant should read this review do not respond, just know that some of very aware you’re gouging people. I’m a tell everyone we know in the Northbay not to waste their money or time. I blame myself as well, but after you drive about an hour, you’ve picked up Family along the way and you’re starving you just pay it. Just some perspective a bag of 50 oysters retails down the road for 75 bucks. Please send a message to the new ownership, but they can’t do this to people and expect to stay open. People don’t want to be taken advantage of and that’s exactly what this once great establishment is certainly doing. Sad and so disappointing.

Service is friendly, the food is fresh.

We arrived half an hour before closing and according to the flustered couple leaving "all they had left were raw oysters". Luckily that's exactly what we came for and boy were they good! Plump, salty, creamy, the horseradish and vinaigrette were a perfect addition. There was no rush from the staff in getting us out of there, we were more than welcome to enjoy our oysters and beer while they were closing. Complimentary music and joke filled conversation was included. We even got to try the buffalo milk soft serve ice cream, and I doubt this needs saying but if you need convincing: TRY IT! TLDR; Great oysters, great service, no reason not to go. So go. Bring your friends, family or anyone you're looking to impress!

The Marshall store the greatest place to meet the Kindness People . Friday may 3rd on my way up state road 1 ,I stopped at an overlook area of the ocean , North of San Francisco .I met the kindness couple and their daughter Katherine from San Francisco. After a brief conversation, they said they was heading to the Marshall store. To have a late lunch with their daughter. They left ahead of me in there vehicle. I ended up stopping at the Marshall store with my truck camper & motorcycle. I met them again. I had lunch with them and Oysters was awesome. Their daughter asked to take a picture of myself and her mom and dad together. I made a huge mistake. I did not give Katherine my phone number. I think of her and her mom And dad every day. It’s been 4 years and still I wake up thinking of this place. Words can not describe the atmosphere, service, or food that this place provides. Part of the charm is that this place is not connected to any ideology or city that surrounds it. It is perfect just the way that it is! Don’t run it it for the rest of us!

A real fun spot right on the Tomalas Bay. The oyster were obviously fresh, the apps were solid, if not a little pedestrian. The beef jerky was perfect and the vibes are immaculate.

This place is worth the drive there! Amazing view, awesome food! Tri-tip sandwich at The Marshall Store was an absolute delight from start to finish! Tri-tip itself was cooked to perfection. Tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor! Sandwich construction was impeccable. The tri-tip was nestled between two slices of freshly baked bread that had just the right amount of toastiness. Lastly, the portion size was generous and left me feeling satisfied and content, without any sense of heaviness or overindulgence. Overall, the tri-tip sandwich at The Marshall Store is a must-try for anyone looking for a delicious, satisfying meal. I can't wait to go back and enjoy it again soon!

The oysters are fantastic - we had the Chorizo, Kilpatrick and Raw. As was the bread that came with them and the fish tacos. The smoked trout salad and pulled pork sandwich were ok. Wouldn’t recommend compared with the oysters. Beautiful location and view - especially on a nice day!

The food here is amazing! They serve fresh oysters and their tri tip sandwich is really good. Generous portions at a reasonable price! I highly recommend this place if you really want delicious food! You won’t be disappointed.

Let's talk oysters. Super fresh, straight from the adjacent waters. Doesn't get better than this! We have been here on several occasions. As new oyster eaters we enjoyed the chorizo and rockafellar were delicious. As we got more addicted to oysters over the years, lol, the raw ones are totally where it's at! They're sweet, juicy, fresh. Not at all fishy! Served with a slice of lemon and house made mignonette (which is like a vinegrette with parsley). Delicious! They also always feature a seasonal menu. We went recently on new years eve (pleasantly surprised they were open) and they had Kumamoto raw oysters, which are smaller but very sweet and succulent. The cooked oysters also come with a highly indulgent piece of garlic bread which is excellent when paired with the leftover butter from the oysters. Prices start at $20+ for 6 oysters, but it's totally worth it! Always great service. Every time we've gone around meal times it's been packed with a line up. Definitely worth the wait. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Sun or cloudy skies, this has been worth the drive from the city. Would highly recommend!

This is a "Must See" destination. The oysters are incomparably fresh, because they come from the waters just in front of the restaraunt. Everything on the menu is so well thought out and executed. The views and scenery are perfection. Can't recommend highly enough.

This place is amazing, when you see my rating of 5 stars understand that it should easily be 6 but I was limited to 5 only. My date found this place in an article so we decided to make a day of it and wonder out to see what all the hype was about. Stunning food. The crab sandwich was arguably the best crab sandwich I have ever had, I wanted the sandwich and agreed to split it with my date, don't make my mistake just order two of them. They oysters are out of this world and the claim chowder is the thick and delicious. I will be driving the two plus hours to go back for more.

Loved our visit to The Marshall Store. It’s quite the trek to discover this lil treasure but isn’t that why we follow maps in seek of rich reward? I planned our visit after a couple days in Calistoga. The trek took us along two lane roadways meandering through hills and shoreline. Parking was adjacent to the store at the roadway shoulder. We came on a weekday but at our lunch hour visit, most of the tables were full but cleared quickly enough to find a comfortable spot along the waters edge by the time we got our treats. You order inside. We chose the Dungeness crab sando, clam chowder and a plate of what turned out to be some of the freshest tastiest oysters I’ve had in a while. The chowder was scrumptious with bits of potato and chunks of clams. The bread held lumps of dungee crab like it was a canoe. Amazing sandwich-not too saucy and plenty of crab to fill the boat. We warshed it all down with cold beer and finished with an ice cream swirl. The folks were super friendly and cared for each guest individually. There was high stool seating circling the main building and a tent along the road with high stools and tables set on wine barrels. We bussed our own dishes and there were cans separating trash recyclables and shells/organics. I noted that alcohol was not allowed around the deck and only consumed in the tent area. Our day was sunny and warm but I can imagine it’d be best to bring a jacket in case the temps dip. The restrooms are porta potties and foot pump hand wash stations. X marked the spot upon The Marshall Store. I’ll return once the tide pulls me back

Service was first class! From the cashier, to the servers, to the oyster shuckers, to Shannon behind the oyster bar! We didn't mind waiting in line to place an order, or waiting for space at the outside railing bar overlooking Tomales Bay. And the food was delicious! We ordered Oysters Rockefeller, shrimp and cod tacos. All delish!

Really good food, great service and a amazing ambiance. Perfect place to stop for oysters. Oysters and seafood were all great, but the biggest surprise for me was the trip tip sandwich. It was MASSIVE and the bread was delicious, they have the smoker out front so figured I'd give it a shot and I was not disappointed. Will be back soon

Amazing seafood and right on the beach

This is the best place to get oysters! Raw or Rockefeller you can’t go wrong. We also had a green salad, clam chowder and the pulled pork sandwich which were all delicious. The staff is so friendly and you can’t beat the views.

Flippin delicious raw oysters right out of the water you’re dining by, rock crab and a hearty chorizo fish stew with house made sourdough washed down with excellent CA wine. Vintage vibe, warm & friendly service. Been here twice now and will be back. The Marshall Store is the real deal!

What a great find right on the bay. We drove by but when we saw all the cars we turned around and went back. So glad that we did. This is a cute place right on the bay with outdoor seating overlooking the water. The service was excellent and quick. The seafood was delicious! This place is definitely a winner.

Perfect for what it is an extremely simple place to get several types of oyster dishes, a delicious salad, smoked trout plate, pickled vegetables and beer or wine and sit and listen to whipping against the dock.

We read about this place in our coastal travel book and wow was it worth the stop! We had ice cream and the best oysters Rockefeller I think we've ever had. So fresh and delicious and the staff was super friendly! Don't miss this place!

My favorite oyster spot in the bay area! I hadn't been in a couple years, so I was surprised to see a whole new patio area that expanded the seating. The oysters were amazing as always, and I tried the chorizo grilled oysters and fell in love. They go great with the warm garlic bread that came out with them. Can't wait to go again!

Nice summer day, able to find parking and a table on the lower patio. Lines not long! Only wish they didn't have porta potties. Oysters amazing. My favorite is the kilpatrick. Hubby's the BBQ. We will be back!

First time trying Oysters. Got the BBQ ones w/ BBQ sauce on the side after some helpful guidance by the staff. The bread was also amazing. I enjoyed the food and the scenery. The experience was a great escape!

2023 Update: still great and yummy place. Prices have gone up like everything else. They have more seating space as well, there is now a downstairs which helps block from some of the cold and wind on some days. Food is always worth the drive and cost though 🙌🏾 ———- My mom and I have been coming here for years and it has kept up its quality as well as added tasty new items on the menu over the years. Depending on when you go sometimes you do have to wait a bit in a line but it’s absolutely worth it! The food is delicious. Service here is also wonderful and the servers are very friendly. They’ve switched from sell bussing to servers busing your table for you. There’s lots of beautiful outdoor seating and they’ve put up a new tent which is quite helpful for all the wind but you don’t have to sit under it, there’s also open spaces as well. Perfect stop if you’re just taking a drive along the coast!

One of my favorite restaurants in the greater Bay Area. Delicious oysters and sandwiches and perfect setting right on the Bay.

We loved the food -- oysters (chorizo, raw, and Rockefeller), dungeness crab sandwich, and rock cod sandwich special were all delicious! Would have loved to be able to drink a beer on site and would have loved to save the servers lots of wandering if we'd been given numbers for our tables. The only downside was the bathroom situation -- just portable toilets, and they were in desperate need of service. So go to the bathroom before you arrive and bring your own hand sanitizer so you're ready to enjoy a delicious casual meal in a beautiful setting.
