This place is bomb!!!!! The food was so fresh and the meat so soft. Its a cute spot, with Both inside and outside seating. This place is delicious, I can not wait to go back for more. By the way Service was quick and super nice.

Small local spot with really good barbecue. Inside is a little tight with only a handful of tables, but there were a few other picnic tables just outside for extra space. Service was great, the woman working the counter was courteous and brought out our food outside to us when it was ready. The top dog for me and my wife were the sides actually. The beans and coleslaw were excellent. Beans had a hint of sweetness with smokiness right alongside. Coleslaw was traditional in taste, fresh and crunchy, and not at all sweet or mushy. Mac and cheese was good, but just average in our opinion. Regarding the meats we had, flavor and seasoning were absolutely on point. Having the sauce on the side was perfect so you can add (or not add) as much as you would like. We got ribs, brisket, and a tri-tip sandwich. The biggest drawback was that the brisket and tri-tip were a bit overcooked and dry. Not enough to ruin them, but enough to notice and wish they were just a bit more juicy. The ribs were super tender and fell right off the bone without being dry at all. Overall, I would definitely stop here again and would 100% recommend them to friends and family. If the smell of smoke doesn't convince you to stop by and try a plate, hopefully my pictures do!

Food was great but customer service wasn’t the greatest and the restaurant itself self was humid and warm.

No restroom working. No place to dine in inside. Hot, windy, full of flies outside. Not welcoming. For what i ate, expensive and not that tasty. I came for the reviews, but these reviews don’t represent reality on my view.

Words can not describe this place. There are many alleged barbecue places to choose from, but none that come close in San Diego. The meats are smoked to absolute perfection, and the cowboy beans are off the charts. It's been 3 years or so since I started dining here. Whenever I'm remotely close to here, it's like a magnet. Anyone looking for TRUE barbecue you must come an dine here. I've tasted the best barbecue joints in the country, and The Rib Shack can compete with them all.

Best barbeque in north county! Their brisket and Mac and cheese is definitely their best, all the meat falls right off the bone, and their sauces are fantastic. Would highly recommend!

I wouldn't have even found it if it wasn't for the wonderful smell wafting through the air. Then I saw some firemen pull up and beeline it for this place. My friends and I came here after a graduation ceremony in San Diego. I had the brisket sandwich and potato salad. Very tasty food. The ambiance could have been a bit better, but I enjoyed the outside seating next to the smoker.

This was my first time trying this place out! The ribs were great! Fall off the bone, dry rubbed, and you can taste the peppercorn. Great flavor. The barbecue sauces were good. One tasted like smoky ketchup, a sweet BBQ sauce, and a chili tasting one. I gave four stars because of the ribs! The sides- were just okay. I got the macaroni & cheese, and the potato salad. The macaroni & cheese lacked soul, and was just boiled spiral macaroni in a cheese sauce, I most likely will not order that again. The potato salad was well seasoned, but tasted too much of mustard and had a more of a mashed potato texture rather than a potato salad. The peach cobbler again, was just okay. Not enough peaches, and tasted strongly of yellow cake batter. This place is totally worth the ribs, and a few craft sodas. Next time, I'll try the cole slaw & beans! I was in town for the Monserate Trail. After hiking and earning a meal, I searched places to eat in Fallbrook. Reading reviews led me to try the Ribshack Que! Let’s simply say this place lives up to ‘eats’ reviews (unintended pun -Ha!)!!! The Cowboy beans taste like a recipe of their own (which I’m sure it is) the bbq sauce is delish, and all meats are tasty. I splurged on the sampler, and each cut was prepped to the T! I’m not a sausage fan…so please note the sausage I’d order again. Service was astoundingly hospitable, food is worth returning to as its priced right for taste and portions,; and the option for a quaint dine in calls for smiling. My grown kids and I enjoyed stopping by. You should do the same!

This place was good. The service new was quick and the gal at the counter was nice. She was patient while I had to move money from one account to another. Forgot to do it before I got in there.

Ribs cooked well with meat falling off the bone but missing flavor. Brisket was a little tough. Sauces were very good. Coleslaw excellent - traditional style. Clean & Neat.

RIBS POST-HIKE After a long hike, my body wants food. Usually I gravitate toward meat since I've lost protein on the trail. I traveled on the 395 and stopped by the Rib Shack. Hey, it is rated 4.5-4.7 on Yelp and Google, How could it not be delicious? WHAT DID YOU ORDER? I ordered the two meat plate. It comes with two meats, two sides and a Sweet Hawaiian roll. I selected ribs and brisket. My sides were macaroni and cheese and potato salad. I also purchased a side of baked beans $5.00, ridiculous). ARE YOU FEELING IT? I found the food overrated and lackluster. Remember I was pretty hungry because I just finished hiking 10 miles. Meats - tender and smoked to perfection, but needs seasoning. This may be a no salt establishment. HOW WERE THE SIDES: I'm a firm believer that you don't need sides for meat. However, when it's barbecue you must have something to complement the meal. Macaroni and cheese: If you like macaroni and Velveeta this is the perfect combination. If you like the real deal-Pass Baked beans: combo red beans and pinto beans. Excellent smoke flavor. Everything else-Pass Potato salad: Bingo. They got this one right. Hawaiian roll: When are they never perfect? I recommend the rib shack out source their sides to a caterer that knows how to whip it good. WHAT'S YOUR OVERALL IMPRESSION? The two meat meal in my opinion can feed two. The sides can be split. For the price point at $30.00 I won't be returning. And I may also not remember to recommend. Took a nice drive to DeLuz, then Fallbrook when hunger struck and started to look. This establishment came up and was highly rated. After completing half my meal I agree with the rest of the reviewers on the quality of the food. Take the drive here and enjoy. I usually go to Woods Ranch, but now this is my go to place 🥰

They have brisket drier than the Mojave desert. The fries were salter than King Solomons mines a ton of Lawrys salt. Also I wanted ribs but they ran out how does a rib place run out of ribs? I just moved above the Pala Mesa golf resort in the hills 3 months ago. What they should do is want local people to do is patronize them that would be smart but NO I don't think they care. I do not recommend. It was almost $20 for a dry brisket sandwich with beyond extreme SALTY shoestring fries the brisket was made indoors in a microwave NOT outdoors in a BBQ grill or smoker as promoted but rather a microwave it's just ridiculous! Save your money and time this place is a joke. Mediocre food made in a cramped indoor kitchen at very high prices!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!

This was absolutely terrible. My food was cold and dry. The food tastes like it is made from a microwave it’s not made from a smoker or grill like someone said in another comment this stuff is microwaved water down food so not recommend don’t waste your money.

Loved this place.Really nice people.Great chk sandwich with fried okra.So good.😋♥️ The little gal that works the counter named Lily needs a huge raise I watched her frantically begging to go orders. Answering phone orders and there was a huge line inside waiting to order. She did a fantastic job at keeping everyone happy. Great service Lily

The food is awesome - the short haired self-entitled teenager at the front needs to go though. There once was a time when customer service actually meant something and repeat business was sought after. Now you’re not even valued here and treated almost as a nuisance. Food is great though - just got get past the garbage.

Not much dinning space more of a take out in my opinion. Awesome food. And food is always better when you walk up and smell and see it cooking. This place is a hidden gem for barbecue in Noth county.

Awesome pulled pork, tri-tip, and truly amazing fried okra!

We were here to order food as our event had a shortage of food. A friend suggested we decide to come here. We ordered some rice and beef brisket 😋 . We wanted to order 2-3 trays of beef brisket but they would not give it to one person. Hence we had to make two separate orders and had two different people pick up each order. It felt weird but what can you do when the staff won't agree to give it as one order to one person. But I have to say, I have never eaten such a tasty brisket 😋 loved it and still can remember the taste of it in my tongue. If you're around this place, I will definitely recommend it.

Love to stop and eat here when I'm in the area, food is always good and service is always friendly.

Just ran into this spot! While I was in the area! Tons of reviews and 4.7 stars on google! Right off the bat the young guy at the register is not skilled in customer service but he’s a decent kid you can tell. 2. No Atmosphere what do ever and the cook young girl was very visible and I had to keep initiating questions because it was my first time there. The meat was good and generous portions. The pulled pork sandwich doesn’t come with coleslaw and the sauce is very very basic barely cracks the good zone. The ribs were were also generous but the seasoning wasn’t the best! Overall we give this overall experience a 4! We are from San Diego and we love barbecue the best place is still Lil piggies in Coronado ferry landing! It’s unbearable in the whole region! Blessings

Tried the brisket which is my go to for barbecue no smoke and no flavor nice people just bad food. But it is California so what do you expect. I dined in

I really wanted to give this place a 5 star rating because the lady that helped me was so nice. However I was not impressed by the food. I am a hobbyist smoker and I can absolutely make much better food. I visited 11/25 and placed an order for a pulled pork sandwich in the morning shortly after them opening and I figured early bird will get the most fresh but boy was I wrong. The pork had no flavor and was dryer than any meat I’ve ever eaten. The cook that handles smoking the meat needs to inject the meat and/or spray it with apple juice way more often and put in more effort. It was NOT worth the money whatsoever.

Amazing BBQ for a decent price! My favorite thing about this place is seeing the smoker working hard outside. Great food, and I LOVE their homemade BBQ sauces. I am definitely becoming a regular.

Baby back ribs were alright, kind of at the drier side. Tri tip and brisket were delicious!

I have often smelled this place - and like you, may have not been curious enough to investigate it because of the proximity to an excellent Hamburger joint in the same parking lot. Today, I decided to try it - and wish i had sooner. Tender, delicious pork - cowboy style beans are flavorful and slow cooked, bun is soft and outstanding, and all the sauces I tried are divine. You will smell it before you walk in: trust me - it tastes just as good/better than the smell. 5 stars all around. Will be returning.

By far, the best Texas BBQ I've ever had (including in Texas)! I got the pulled pork with slaw & potato salad while my husband got the sampler with cowboy beans and mac & cheese. All of it was definitely worth the walk from the park & ride

One of the few places where the sauce is on the side. You get to choose your sauce. But bbq is so good only a splash of sauce is needed. Got to to back to try all their meet.

I got the platter and I was not impressed the brisket was tough and dry pretty much everything on that platter was dry the sides were pretty good

Love this place! I stop by at lunch whenever I am showing property in Fallbrook. The brisket and ribs are awesome! It is small so if you have a big group plan to sit outside.

Great food, staff is friendly. Though the only problem is the site is small and feels cramped with a lot of people.

It was pretty good. The ribs were yummy and the brisket had some good fat on it. The smoke was tasty as well. The mac n cheese was and cheesy with a satisfying flavor. The cowboy beans were interesting. They weren't bad, just had some interesting flavor.

First time in, based on a neighbor's recommendation. Ordered the sampler. Damn this is good! We will most certainly be back and bringing friends.

Brisket was dry. Pork ribs and mac n cheese were not good. The beans were the highlight. I could eat just those but overall not worth going back.

Wow! Can't believe I didn't find this place before. I stop by Nessy burgers but not anymore! BBQ here is the best around. It's off the 15 freeway and kind of hard to find but look them up you won't regret it. Yummy!

It’s 3:30 on Sunday and they’re not answering their phone. The food is good but they don’t follow their operating hours. I’ve owned and operated restaurants my entire life. This is the problem with most small restaurants. They close early if they’re not doing enough business. That creates a customer mentality that ultimately eats away at revenue more and more. I’ll be surprised if this place remains in business past this calendar year. I know that I’ve began to look for other BBQ options due to this problem. I’m done trying to figure out when this place is actually open for business.

I got the brisket sandwich with coleslaw. The bun was fresh and warm and really good. The meat was very tender and juicy, but lacked in flavor. Adding a bunch of BBQ sauce made it a great sandwich. The coleslaw was decent. All in all it was still way better than I expected.

Disappointing compare brew and que bbq but however the girl at the counter is nice and sweet. I got ribs and brisket and it just wasn’t good. It taste like I threw in the oven and reheated it. My okra was overdone. First and last I ll go there.

This is some Texas BBQ!!! The Brisket is like butter, ribs fall off the bone, hot link has amazing flavor, pulled pork is so tender it just mops up the sauce, mac n cheese is creamy, and the mustard potato salad is perfect!

Beyond expectations, shockingly good, looking forward to trying everything on the menu the rib sandwich and fried okra were 10/10 highly recommend

Definitely get the Tri tip if you get it on the sandwich ask him the slice it up a little thinner and it will melt in your mouth.

Amazing fall of the bone ribs, juicy brisket, and tender tri tip. All of their sides compliment the meat. Regular sauce is the best.

Hello world everybody’s got to enjoy a great rib with you. Enjoy a great rib, it’s got to be cooked and a great and fantastic way that yesterday have here this gentleman. I don’t know what time they get up or what time they stop but every time I’ve ever gotten a rib, ribs, biscuit, brisket Sandwiches even the chicken and rib shack is been top notch five stars ,A1,10 above a 10! And my friend would sit out to go camping we’re going to go for a day trip or on our Indian motorcycle or we’re just gonna takeoff for an excursion. We stop here first always and we pick up a rack of ribs and used to be a half rack well gotten smart about it. You can always use caffeine food but when you’re making a trip up there man you just want those fresh crispy fries. The wife loves her coleslaw. I can’t say enough about this place, you all just simply have to try it I’m Mr. La Roux, friend of Mr. Magoo and right now I’m telling you the rib shack. I’ve had a lot of ribs along the way and in my day there’s nothing like these guys and the way they prepare their meats will check it out man it’s delicious Rib shack thank you all for allowing us to enjoy your food. Very cute neighborhood restaurant.

My husband and I have been eating at the Rib Shack for several years. We enjoy most everything they offer but really love the beef ribs. I had them cater my 60th birthday. Shawna helped me coordinate the event. She was personable, professional and knowledgeable about what foods work best and the amount to order. The day of the party they showed at time promised and had everything set up and were ready for us when the time came for us to eat. Everything I ordered (beef ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, Mac n cheese and cowboy beans) was cooked to perfection. Everyone in attendance really enjoyed the food. And there were just enough leftovers to enjoy for the next couple of days!! Thank you Shawna and everyone at the Rib Shack who helped to make my birthday special.

Oh my goodness....this is so good. Service was fast. Food was delicious. Good portions. Ordered baby back ribs and they were so good. There were about 6 bones of ribs. They were very meaty, very tender, seasoned really good and just falling of the bone Definately a comeback to place. 06-10-2022 on my way to Oceanside, stopped in to get lunch for Auntie and I. Once again i ordered baby back ribs with potatoe salad and cowboy beans. Ribs still were very meaty, very tender and falling off the bones. Took same to Auntie and we could not eat it all. Service was fast....young lady at register was very nice, attentive and polite. Will be back on next trip this way. 01-26-2023 Still the best barbecue in this area. Stopped in, ordered my dinner, great associate at front register. Ribs - delicious as always, rib eye was tender and great also.

Don't pass by The Ribshack Que if you're in the mood for BBQ! We've been here quite a few times and have been consistently impressed with the quality and taste of their food. They've got the best pulled pork sandwich I may have ever had, and their slaw, potato salad, tri tip, chicken nuggets and fries have all been a hit with my family. They also have 3 different varieties of BBQ sauce: original, sweet, and spicy. I recommend trying them all, each one is awesome and has a distinctly unique taste.

We love this place! Excellent food! Service is always great and with a smile! They always seem to appreciate us! And they have Bingo! Can't complain about the atmosphere! 👍👍

Nice little place with friendly staff, but the BBQ didn't do it for me. I had the ribs and brisket, and both had issues. The ribs were overcooked (steamed) which caused them to fall off the bone. That itself is not an issue, but the rib meat just fell apart and lost all structure. The brisket was OK but could have been a little more tender. However, the biggest issue was that both lacked any type of flavor. There were hints of smoke flavor, but the seasoning (rub) provided nothing and made for very bland meat. The sides: coleslaw, potato salad and beans were good though, as well as the BBQ sauce. However, being a BBQ place, the BBQ was just not good. An off day due to the weather, I don't know, but as of now doesn't warrant a return visit.

Had the pork ribs and it was delicious just wish it was bigger. I especially liked that it was boneless. The beans were alright.

If you like BBQ, you have found the holy grail. You can't go wrong here. I literally dream about the food in this place.. I can't express into words how good this place is.

Great food! A little on the pricey side for lunch (expect to spend about $20+ per person), but worth it! Also the place is a little hard to spot from the street, could use some better signage.

Small hidden gem, I only had a half slab of ribs and they were good, their BBQ sauce is my favorite, so good that I had to call them and tell them so and that it was worth the drive from Murrieta…. I’ll figure the sauce is made in house, has small smoke taste, maybe even a little molasses added to it… I don’t know if they serve it hot when you dine in but I heated mine up once I made it home… I combine all three together, and it was smooth eating from there… A must try I don’t believe you’ll be disappointed…

Space is tight inside with just a few tables. It is after all a shack. Great smoke flavor on BBQ, not overpowering but just right for the flavor to be appreciated. Sauces were good also. Brisket sandwich was thoroughly enjoyable.

This place is awesome little hidden gem. I can barely tell it was open only because of the Google search. Place Could definitely use a bright sign that is lit up. The host girl with green eyes was extremely friendly and has really good energy. The cook was also very cool. Food quality is excellent and attitude is 10 stars! I would definitely keep green eyes on the register or give that girl a raise. I accidentally gave her to much money, and she re-counted it, and just shows how honest she is because it would’ve been easy for her to just not say anything. GOOD VIBES and I will be back!💯

Love this place here. It is so hard to find decent BBQ in San Diego as this is not a bbq city. The meat is always fresh tasting, done right and they have by far the best fried okra on the west coast. Great customer service as well!!

best ribs in town. what's even better is the super friendly staff from Kailey at the cash register all the way to the cooks in the back. ribs are off the bone. if you want authentic American ribs, then look no further.

I hate to give 3 stars, but..... First, let me say that the beef ribs are amazing, and possibly the best in southern CA. 5 stars for the beef ribs. They are tender, moist, perfectly cooked and with a great flavored rub. However, they are over-priced. My 4 beef ribs cost over $200, which is over $50 each! So here's some more math..... I was curious so cut off all of the meat and connecting tissue and weighed it all - everything but the bones. My 4 ribs = 9.3 oz., 9.6 oz., 13.3 oz., and 14.3 oz. For a total of 46.5 oz. = 2.9 lb of meat and tissue. That's over $70/lb of meat !!! For comparison, my #2 best beef rib place is in northern CA and they sell theirs for $29/rib, with their ribs over 1.5 lb each (including the bone.). As compared to The Ribshack whose ribs are around the same weight but charges $28/lb - that's a 50% premium on price. Also, The Ribshack forces you to pay for the sides (because they charge by the rib weight, and they're included in that price) even if you only want just the ribs. So 3 stars.

Very disappointed with the quality of the food. We got the sampler platter and the flavor of the meats and dryness was a disappointment. Them we got the peach cobbler that's supposed to be really good,(NOT) it is made with canned peaches

Smoker out front makes all the right smells, the vintage root beer options are extensive. The brisket sandwich I had for lunch was great, others I was with highly recommend the pulled pork. Fantastic BBQ joint.
