I have been coming to Tradewinds for over twenty years. The food is wonderful and you better have a reservation. I have known the original owner Tom and now Sherry and George have continued the wonderful food and environment. I just call and they know me by name. That’s what makes it special, the food is great and the people there make you feel special

My very first visit to this restaurant. It comes highly recommended in the local area. We ordered crab cakes as horsderves and crab cake dinner with pasta. The crab cakes were extremely salty, lacked flavor and appeared to have been setting for some time, like hours or longer. I will make another visit just in case this was someone's bad day.

My wife and I (Married just this week) we're passing through and staying for one night only. We called and they managed to get us a reservation on short notice. The service was amazing, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect.

We visited this place and were turned away because there was no reservation. We had just landed in the area and our Marriott chain hotel had them listed on a neighborhood place to eat. We had two children with us and visited to be turned away. Quite rudely I might add, especially as there were empty tables observed. The place was ok, looked kind of messy and we are glad we found a nicer more welcoming environment and entrepreneur.

Incredible food and top-notch service.

Due to the number of guests we had to eat family style, which would have been ok if they had served Italian food and not seafood. Four out of five dishes were with seafood. Service was terrible, our waitress wore a mask and no one could understand her. We were never offered a second bowl of anything. $32.00 for one small piece of pasta.

Made reservations and went on a Saturday evening. I believe that night we could have made it in without reservations but I had been told by friends it can be iffy. The restaurant kind of has a mom and pop Italian restaurant feel to it sort of a pizzeria feel as well. The customers were dressed ok they all looked like they could be going to a beach wedding at least. I have uploaded pics of the menu from the night but I did miss the specials menu. A friend of mine told me he was going to try Tradewinds for dinner it did not see where they served steak. After speaking with the waitress that night she told me they offer a steak and shrimp special every night and they change the sauce of the special every week. I ordered the Grouper Picatta and it was fantastic and wow, what a huge piece of grouper. My wife had the Steak Bistecca and wow! When will I learn she always orders food just a little tastier than what I’m ordering. But she left me some and I slaughtered it. Decent restaurant, great service and fantastic food!

Very cute Italian spot, and you can smell the garlic as you walk up. Reservations are recommended, and I can see why. It is a very popular spot, so make reservations. Our waitress was awesome and gave me great recommendations. We had the amazing bread to start. Also had the yummy crab cakes. Followed by the capricciosa pizza. The crust was crispy, and the toppings were plentiful. If I am ever back in town, I will definitely be back.

Delicious food! Very sweet and friendly owner! We love this little gem of an Italian restaurant! Service is always wonderful every time we've gone. I had the Chicken Picata - hands down delicious and I highly recommend it. My husband had his favorite, Chicken Parmesan which he says is always very good! The salad dressing, let me tell you, it's crazy good and the BEST house made salad dressing I've ever tasted, literally. Not to be forgotten, the bread and seasoned dipping oil is delicious with everything. We finished off our dinner with the Tiramisu and it didn't disappoint - some of the best I've ever had. The flavors are amazing and we'll definitely be back!

The wife brought me here on Feb 23 for a delayed Valentine's dinner. She had previously dined here and wanted me to experience the food. Food was fantastic. A full loaf of warm, fresh bread served at the table with herb oil for dipping. Crispy crust, soft, supple inside and flavorful, the bread could be a meal in itself. Herbs and spices in the dipping oil were flavorful, though the red pepper flakes were spicier than I care for. However, the pepper never neared the level of heat where flavor is lost. Salads came with our dinners, served with a house vinaiggrette. Salad was fresh, but nothing notable. Dressing was on the salad when served, and overwhelmed the salad. Too much can be a bad thing... My wife ordered the Carbonera (and of course I sampled it at the table and ate the leftovers) which was flavorful and light, with crispy bacon (provided nice textural contrast from the pasta) and well-cooked pasta (al dente, and maybe a touch to the rarer side). I ordered the Lasagna (a meat lasagna) which came in what seemed like a bucket of marinara sauce. Fortunately the sauce was well-balanced and full of fresh basil and tomato flavor, and looked nice, though that amount was a bit excessive (not taking points off for it). Fork tender and full of flavor (particular the meat layers), the lasagna itself was among the best I've had. My preference however, is for a lasagna that generally holds its form, standing tall and proud in a sea of sauce. Bordering on a "deconstructed" lasagna, this particular lasagna spread out and generally lost its form and was hard to truly locate in all the sauce. (Again, this is a preference of mine, and I wouldn't take points off for the particular form.) Service was phenomenal, being greeted at the door at our reservation time, and quickly seated. Our waiter was attentive and helpful, never let our drinks get below half full, answered questions, politely laughed at my corny jokes and was respectful and polite. His attention never wandered to the realm of "annoying present" where you feel compelled to offer them a seat at the table since they are constantly there chatting. Food was served in an appropriate time -- not so quickly that you doubt the quality and have little time to enjoy the experience, but not so slowly that the loaf of bread has to be replaced long before the food arrives. Timing was perfect for the level of dining. As far as the atmosphere, this is the category Tradewinds loses points. Take-out orders have customers walking right past your table to the pickup counter -- a bit frustrating for an establishment that serves higher quality food. Additionally, the interior of the restaurant is dated at the least, looking like it has not undergone any revisions since 1989, having the dark wood and decor that is not very impressive. Keeping the lighting low might set mood and build atmosphere in nice restaurants, but they begin with quality dining room furniture and decor. Low light and dark stained wood provides a feeling of being in a bowling alley that allows smoking indoors, has a payphone on the wall, vending machines offering Pepsi Clear and a Mrs Pac Man arcade game. I'm not much for dressing up, but I suffer mentally being in a restaurant that has high standards for food, but customer's clothes range from hoodies + gym shorts to sport coat and jeans. Updating the interior of the restaurant would help guide the clothing customers wear, improving the entire atmosphere if this is truly meant to be "finer" (but not quite fine) dining. Of course, this IS Niceville, so this is still near the top in terms of quality. Note: For those that have visited the restaurant, it is obvious how to get to it. For new customers, it is very confusing and a challenge. The easiest access is from Hill Rd, and park at the back side of the building, and walk around to the front of the Tradewinds Restaurant.

This is a special place! We've been coming to Tradewinds since its early days in the late 1990s. We continue to go for their perfectly prepared pasta and seafood, pizza, steaks, pork chops, fresh salads, and decadent desserts. You must nearly always have a reservation, so plan ahead. This is a locals' secret, but the word got out when it won so many cuisine awards year-to-year. Don't miss the opportunity to bring out-of-town guests with you, but it's ideal for an intimate date too. I had the Grouper with capers over pasta; others had Carbonara, Pasti, and Alfredo dishes. The flourless chocolate "cake" was delicious too. You gotta go!

We’ve only been in the area a short time and had yet to find a good sit down place for dinner. wow, did we find it at Tradewinds. They checked all the boxes; awesome food, service, atmosphere, and prices. Coming from the Boston area, I would put Tradewinds up against any of the North End eateries.

This little gem of a restaurant is a must go for vacationers and locals alike. The family type atmosphere paired with amazingly in house prepared dishes and excellent hospitality and customer service has shot this restaurant right to the top of my new favorites. Pros:Caprese was good, and the fresh bread was excellent. Cons: Worst salad I’ve ever had from a restaurant and the Chicken Aliolio ended up being taken home and thrown away. Based on all the 5-star reviews, I think it must have been an off night for them.

My husband got the Capricciosa pizza, 11 year old daughter got the Margherita, toddler devoured the linguine and meatballs and our waiter recommended the shrimp with white wine and red sauce penne pasta dish ... and let me tell you everything was out of this world DELICIOUS (coming from someone who lived in Italy for 4 years) we topped it off with their tiaramisu... *perfection* HOWEVER; we were dissapointed to discover half of our leftovers missing upon returning home and looking forward to devouring this delicious food a second time. The waiter boxes the food when you request a box.... and we only came home with half of our incredible meal *sad day* Overall 10/10 for food and service, we sat outside as we did not have a reservation, and our waiter was phenomenal.

I have been going to Tradewinds since Tom opened the place. I was there last weekend. Great seeing Sherri and George who have done a great job keeping Tom’s spirit alive. The food is great. I have never had a bad meal. I had the filet last weekend which was unusual for me since I usual stick to pasta or pizza. The filet was fabulous and only $30. When I move, I will miss this place. You can go wrong here.

My wife and I were in town for a funeral and was looking for somewhere to get a good pizza. It was Friday night and packed crazy which obviously shows how high in demand this place is. This place is a hidden little gem. We didn't have reservations but there were two seats available at the bar. The host kindly seated us and we enjoyed what may be the best meal we've had together. We had never been here before, but we will certainly be back. Christian was a wonderful server and attended to all of our needs flawlessly. What an amazing place to eat. Absolutely everything I had was delicious. The only thing that I have to say could be improved is the size of the parking is horrible. I'm new to the area. My husband took me to eat at Tradewinds last night for my 60th birthday. The place is nice but the food we ordered was not memorable and we won't return. I grew up in Brooklyn and come from immigrant italian people. Sauce is supposed to somewhat stick to the pasta. So, for my 60th Birthday basically I enjoyed their bread and a glass of wine. I brought the fish home and plan on recooking it to my liking today. I think the owners need a real italian chef to look over their recipes and help them bring them up to real italian standards. Since moving back to the area, we have been looking for a great Italian restaurant. We had the Veal Parmigiana and the Chicken Picatta. Both meals were great. I put in a to-go order. Even though the place was extremely busy, my order was ready, right when they said it would be, and the staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. We are so excited to have finally found a go-to Italian restaurant, after trying so many sub-par restaurants in the area. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! Have lived in Crestview for about 5 years and I’ve just recently heard about this place. We are always trying to find local places with great service and cuisine. VERY reasonable prices for scrumptiously big portions of food. Any of the dishes can be easily split between two people for a full meal (to include the HUGE bruschetta!). I ordered the veal piccata and my son ordered the seafood special (shrimp in a vodka sauce with pene pasta). Both were full of flavor and cooked perfectly. I was very happy to have a cut of veal instead of a mincemeat patty like a lot of restaurants use. Then we had to try their tiramisu. Oh WOW!!
