This was our first and last time visiting this restaurant. The food was terrible, the bread was hard and the cost for 1/2 sandwich and a small salad was $18. The table next to us was closed because the roof was leaking. I brought it up to our waitresses attention and she seemed unbothered and dry.

I haven’t tried the food here yet but this place deserves 5 Stars!! I made the mistake of not calling before ordering take out during the recent storm and when I to pick up my order the place was closed. I was just going to accept the mistake and go on with my business but the next day I get a call from Valentino’s and not only did they void the charge they also offered a discount try next visit. I thought that was so great and the kind lady I spoke to was super friendly and nice. Gave me a good vibe about this place. Can’t wait to try!

There were a lot of people coming in for takeout and a 15-20 minute wait for a table, all indicating good food, which was definitely delicious. The service, however, was awful. I'm not sure if it was just us or to everyone, but our server wasn't that good or even interested in us as customers and seemed to have an attitude. I had to ask for water, never asked if we wanted another drink, never checked on us. I had to ask the hostess to take the check.

Went in at 3pm. No crowd. Had the alfrado and my wife had the personnel white pie. Excellent food and service.

FREAKIN AWESOME!!! I normally don't write in all uppercase letters like that but felt it necessary. I'll admit that I haven't been all around Sarasota so I can't speak for all of the city and/or county, but this is, by far, the best Italian restaurant on Clark Street. UPDATE: Still the best. RECOMMENDATION: Ask for April, not the month but the person.

Love this place. I get the Napoli dinner every time, and I can eat that meal 3 times, which makes it more economical. They are not afraid of garlic in their meals, which suits me fine! Atmosphere is so so. Great pizzas and pasta and they do a very strong take out orders!

I've been here twice in one week. The first time, I dined in a second time carryout. Bake ziti, lasagna, and garlic knots are great! We ordered pizza the second time, and it was fantastic. Recommend Valentinos any day of the week.

Let me start by saying I love Valentino's food. We as a family order from the clark rd location at least once a week, and have for many years. I have never experienced the unprofessional interaction at any establishment that I had with a manager at Valentino's this evening. I ordered a take out order, of a Margherita pizza with extra sauce and add pepperoni. As well as a chicken scarpariello. When I got home and opened the box the pizza has basically zero sauce on it I called to voice my displeasure and even sent a picture of the pizza to the manager. She agreed that it was not what I ordered, nor met the standards of a Valentino ($35) pizza. She offered a store credit. I declined with the intent of not ordering from them any longer as this is a recurring issue. I was met with an accusatory attitude that I could not believe what I was hearing. I explained I didn't want to pay for any of the meal ( the remainder $20 for the scarpariello included). She refused to do so, and asked me to bring the food back in order to get a refund. I did bring the food back and was met with an argumentative manager that accused me of attacking her and judging her, and was told that I was the one being unprofessional. When I explained that I won't be a patron of Valentino's any longer, she had no interest in a remedy for the situation.. I was refunded my order in full but, I had to physically drive back to the restaurant to return the food in order to receive it. Needless to say, I will not be a customer any longer which pains me as Valentino's has been a staple in our family for many years.

Great place to come with family located in a clean and welcoming shopping center. Friendly service. We loved the calamari, it was fresh and crispy.. and the portion was huge! Great chicken and pasta dishes as well. We will be coming back to try their pizza soon!

THE FOOD IS GOOD, BUT EVERY ONE ORDERS FOOD BY DELIVERY IT IS THE SAME THEY DO NOT REPLACE CUTLERY EVEN IF ONE PLACES IT BY THE APP AND IF UNI ORDERS PASTA AT LEAST THEY PLACE BREAD

This is hands down the best Italian restaurant in Sarasota...both take out and dine in is cooked to order and always hot,fresh and plenty where you could split between two if you wanted...I could eat here everyday and never get sick of it....

Tried calling in a pick up around 8:40 and they said they’re closed, this is as I watched two guests come in and not leave.

I can’t believe it took me this long to try this place. Coming from New Haven , CT pizza, I’ve been less than impressed with the pizza around here. This place has the best pizza by far. They also have the best cannoli I’ve ever had and amazing chicken parm. That’s all I’ve tried so far and everything exceeded my expectations. Their prices are excellent as well with a wide menu selection. Everything tasted authentic and not frozen. This will be my new go-to place.

While living in Sarasota, Florida, for 7 years, Valentinos became our go-to restaurant not only for the DELICIOUS food but also for the genuinely friendly atmosphere and staff. The owner and his family are sincerely devoted to providing true Italian meals that are so so yummy! Both locations (Clark Road and UTC) offer a wide range of selections--hubby's favorite is the lasagna. Mine the penne ala vodka, and of course pizza. We celebrated family birthdays and other occasions at Valentinos and were never disappointed. The prices are reasonable and well worth the ample (large) portions. Since moving to Chesapeake, Virginia, last year, we are still searching for an Italian restaurant as good as Valentinos, but so far none found. We're hoping that Valentinos will open a third restaurant...here!

Server was the only good part Of our visit. We go to University a lot over the years . This was our first visit to Clark location. First the new smaller salads are a waste. Just take away or make bigger and charge something . The dinner portions are also smaller . I ordered the chicken dish with cherry peppers included , I requested long hots instead ( like always) the server said extra charge . I agreed. The dish came out with two very very small peppers in a circle. A joke. I complained that I was paying extra for long hots and asked to speak with a manager. Someone came out 10 minutes later food got cold waiting . She said she was the GM. She had a very nasty attitude and was very defensive . Never saying she was sorry. Basically what I got was it and I had to pay extra. She was an embarrassing manager. I am from NJ and always loved that a Jersey guy owned Valentinos . But this so called GM will end our family visits. The owner should suspend this GM or send her to manager classes . The pasta sause was also blah not the same as past. Clark road could not hold a candle to University! Shame on you! In response to the owners reply… I NEVER raised my voice to your GM ! In Fact the server apologized for your GM’s attitude. I was with my doctor and his wife who both told your GM she was out of line. Customers next to us even laughed at your GM. We treated our server with Total respect. We are professional people and never argued . Your GM should not talk to customers … maybe she can manage from office. I understand you have to support her. As far as owners policy about Long Hots ..you did not see the two small pieces . I have enjoyed your long hots for years and I know what they look like. This was not what I was charged extra for… all she had to do was say we are sorry and added a real long hot or two but she decided to stand firm. Silly

Pizza...garlic rolls....pasta! Great service!

I ordered take out back in January around $100. Then I see my card was charged more than double that amount approx. $225. I filed a report and froze my bank account because I didnt even that much in my checking. Then come to this week (2 months later) I get a call from my bank stating my request was denied because I couldn't prove it even when they said the additional money was added after the fact as if it was a tip. Why would anyone tip over $100 on a take out order? Sketchy much. I called the store they said they couldn't do anything because I must have given them that much and their emoloyees would never do that. Seriously. Never again.

Good food and service but typical loud atmosphere.

Went there for lunch. Nice menu and good lunch items. We usually go to Oak and Stone in the same plaza. I think we found a new lunch place. Recently server has been slow and too busy the last couple of times. Taking off a star for that as I go for lunch when working and I would prefer for it to be a faster. Still great food and good prices for lunch specials. Update server and service had been a lot better recently. 3 good lunch specials that the prices can't be great at other similar sit down restaurants like this.

Many people settle for Florida Pizza. Valentino's reminded us of the best of New Jersey! The sauce was amazing The pizza itself was just like we remember from New Jersey and other dishes were scrumptious. Service was excellent atmosphere is nice just a great place to go for Italian food!

Some of the best Italian food in the area if not best we ever had (we are from NYC/Philly metro area so we know Italian food). Portions are large, delicious , and very very fair in price! There were 5 of us. everyone partook of the various dishes on the menu . we ALL enjoyed every bite of our meal of Chicken Parm, baked ziti, lasagna, broccoli rabe with sausage over pasta and rigatoni vodka. Let’s not forget the appetizer (a meal in itself) of calamari which were some of the tastiest and tender we had. Can’t wait to try other dishes on the menu as well as the brick oven pizza (i looked at the food on the other tables around us☺️) And Let’s not forget the service team. Service was excellent and the staff were very attentive. We are living in the North Venice area But this will not stop us from visiting again and again.

The absolute worst experience we have ever had at any restaurant in Sarasota. We have had take out from here before and it was ok, not great but ok. We live a little more than a mile from it and we often go to Oak and Stone restaurant in the same plaza. And really wanting to give this place a good try. So we took my dad for his birthday dinner Feb 17th. We arrived at 5:10 and we were told it would be 30 minute wait so we went outside and got a text at 5:50 that we table was ready. We thought no big deal, we were just happy to get in to sit down. So we were seated and a waitress took our order at 6:10. The reason I know this time was because we ordered my son a takeout order and he texted me at that time. We said to bring the takeout with our meal because in the past it is often forgotten if we wait. We were given our drinks and bread quickly. There were several people waiting both for seats and for takeouts. We waited as we enjoyed talking amongst ourselves. But noticed that a couple that came in 10 minutes after us and was seated next to us got their salads almost immediately. As we talked the waitress came by and refilled my coke and brought a beer for my oldest son. As we sat there starting to get impatient when the table next to us got there main dishes. Ok I get it. They were a party of 2 and we were 5. So another 30 minutes go by and the couple from the table left. A new party was sat right away at that table, a few minutes later they ordered. We still were waiting for our food. We then kinda laughing because they got their salad right away. As the waitress came by she was kind and said she was sorry it was taking so long and we said ok but we were really getting hungry so she offered more bread (very kind). But after an additional 25 minutes of not getting our food and the new table next to us had their main dish, my husband wanted to just walk out. I said no let me just go ask for the manager to just see if she could do anything. I was absolutely flabbergasted the tone of voice she took with me. I just said I know you are busy but it is 7:25 and we ordered at 6:10 and I understand you are busy. Before I could even finish my sentences she interrupted me in a very condescending tone about how busy they were. And I said I understand that and I do not blame the waitress because she can't help it but since the table next to us had been turned over 2 times since we were there that something didn't seem right. She said that is not true, I said no it is.So the manager then said that is a lie!!!! Are you kidding me? What kind of a manager says that to a customer? At that time the waitress saw me and came over and tried to explain that the other table ordered pizza and that's why they got their food fast. So I said I understand that but you agree that table was turned over 2 x's since we were there. And she said yes but they ordered pizza and that's fast. So I said see I didn't lie to the manager, which she ignored. So I said is there anyway you can comp. Anything like my sons take out, and she said absolutely not. I said just for calling me a liar I would think you would not only apologize but would send us a drink or something. I then said can you tell me when we will be getting our meal because my father is a diabetic and is starting to feel weak. She said well I guess anytime now. Are you kidding??? This manager is a joke! How embarrassing to have her represent this place. The food came 5 minutes later without my take out order. I couldn't even eat I was so sick from the way that manager treated me. The waitress boxed it up as my kids and father eat what ended up being lukewarm food that was not worth a fraction of what we paid. We still left the waitress a good tip since it was not her fault but I will never eat here again and believe me l will tell everyone on every site, Facebook foodie page, yelp, instagram, Snapchat, thread, and any other site what a HORRIBLE experience this was. Never go here.

This is a really good Italian restaurant. They have pizza that's a bit sweet, which I like. More authentic Italian plates than you would expect, and they are all cooked exceptionally. Definitely worth a try, might become one of your favorite restaurants.

My local favorite, I have been going here for a decade or more, all of the food is consistently great, however, we are particularly fond of their Buffalo Chicken Pizza, it's amazing! Sometimes I get a pie and take back to SC with me, no kidding, that's how much we love it!!!!

Very good pepperoni and cheese pizzas. Complimentary garlic bread served and all at table liked. Fettuccine also ordered by one person and they said it was very good and a huge portion. Very attentive friendly service. Located in nice shopping area too. Would definitely return when back in Sarasota.

Ordered chicken Panamanians took home 2/3 had enough for 2 more meals.

Visiting from Chicago and we know pizza! Ordered 3 pizzas to go. Order was ready ahead of schedule which was fantastic since we were very hungry. Pizza was delicious and cooked well. Will order from here again next time we visit

This place has without question the best Italian food around. Unfortunately they have a young man with curly hair and glasses seating people that is rude beyond rude. We asked to sit in a booth he said we could a have a table booth were reserved for parties of four. The table sat four too. There were 4 open booth and three open tables. This back and forth went on for a couple of minutes before he finally agreed to let us sit at the booth. We were right by the door and overheard the same discussion we had going with another couple. The husband even said the booth seats up to four and the table sits up to four. The young man was again very rude and just told them to sit anywhere. Very strange! We asked the waitress if it was to balance the servers she said no and couldn't explain why he acted that way. Especially because he sat two couples in between in booths without any issue. This young man was so rude my husband wanted to leave. Glad we didn't our server was lovely as always a d the food was amazing.

Stopped for a quick bite. Got the 2 Slice 1 Soda deal. The slices were big. I got the Veggie toppings slices. It was good. But honestly I'm not sure if it was the food or me. Maybe because I was in a hurry I ate only 1 slice & took home the rest. Later when I'm eating the warmed slice, I bit several times something VERY HARD. I have no idea what it was. Probably won't return. Employees were nice though.

The best Chicken Francese in Sarasota!

Favorite pizza place in town! We have been going there since they originally opened and the pizza is the closest you will get to NY pizza. We order from them at least 2-3 times a week when our Aunts and Uncles from NY are in town.

Valentinos on Clark Road is definitely the place to have a New York style slice of Pizza! The specialty slices remind me of New York, first time since moving down to FL 4 years ago. I highly recommend Valentinos!

We have been eating at Valentino's ever since it opened 17 years ago. The quality of their food has been consistent from day one and besides a few occassions when a teenager working the front desk has been rude to my wife, the service has been impeccable. Without question the best Italian restaurant in town.

Absolutely love the friendly staff and delicious food! Everything on the menu is outstanding. And love the Italian music...when it is actually playing. Please, please, PLEASE - stop playing religious music. It doesn't fit the ambiance at all, and not what I care to listen to while dining in a fine Italian restaurant.

Ordered $42 two pizza. Specifically said no motzerella. Got home with motzerella. Phoned, no satisfaction. Said I “accepted” the pizza so tough. Watch it! I won’t be back.

Ordered eggplant rollatini and sautéed escarole with sausage. What a terrible meal! I have ordered this many many times before. This time not only was the eggplant 7.00 more than before but the dish was a third smaller! You use to get 3 nice rollatinis and I received what was maybe equivalent to 2. It also had a really peculiar taste. The escarole and sausage was awful. In the past the sausage was cut up and sautéed with the escarole. This time they just threw a cold log onto warm not hot escarole. I do not know what is going on but this was a total turnoff. If zero stars was an option that is what they would get

Always get takeout pizza - my family all agrees that this is the best pizza we've had in Sarasota. Sugo & Bianca are 2 favorites.

Egg plant Rotoelli was okay Sauce didn't have much flavor Waitress forgot salad and was warm when I received it My husband order linguini w clam sauce.
