This place is an absolute gem!!!! The scones in the morning are incredible, hot breakfast is delicious, rooms are clean and comfortable, view is stunning, staff is kind and helpful, and the old abalone pub is great. This was the perfect spot for our weekend getaway! Highly recommend - 10/10!

Rooms were small and the WIFI was bad but the service was outstanding and the breakfast was delicious.

I've only seen the hotel rooms and haven't ever stayed at the hotel, but it's in a very scenic location, and has an excellent restaurant and pub. This is a place you go to when you really want to get away from crowds and traffic, and enjoy an idealic setting with a lot of seaside solitude and nature. There's a beautiful ocean view, of course, and lots of time for self-reflection and peace and quiet. It's a beautiful, unique place that I will always treasure in my memories of visits to Mendocino County..

Try the high tea every third Saturday of the month at 3 pm. It would be a great place to take a friend. I believe high tea is offered all seasons except winter.

I was here for a Christmas party and was so impressed by everything

We had dinner here. The staff, location, and service were great, but the food was middle of the road. I had the fish tacos, They were kind of tasteless. Both my wife's and my food needed something, and we're not that picky.

The Westport Hotel is wonderful! Five stars for the manager Kayla. She is so welcoming and made me feel like family. Homemade hot scones were the perfect way to wake up, followed by a delicious omelette downstairs in the charming dining room. Kayla suggested a beautiful 3-mile hike along the bluffs after breakfast. The views of the Pacific Ocean were gorgeous. That night I ate fish tacos in the pub, listened to live music and watched a meteor shower from my balcony. I hated to leave but life calls. I will definitely return to Westport Hotel.

A wonderful return visit to the Westport Hotel that offers an escape into the quiet and cool northern California coast. Enjoyed our dinner at the Old Abalone pub, and our morning tea tray with fresh baked strawberry scones. Staff is attentive and friendly. A morning walk on the black sand beach before heading on our way into the redwoods.

Unbelievable Hotel/ B&B. The staff are amazing. The restaurant/bar -one in a million, a classic. Actual original bar from 1890's. The Hotel is located in a town of 300. A few rooms have balconies facing the Pacific ocean. You want a serenity - you found it.

This place was a godsend for us. We were driving down the PCH on an early March 2023 night during an atmospheric river weather event toward our AirBnB, and CA 1 was closed due to downed trees and power lines. The firemen made us turn around, and two miles back was the Westport Hotel where we had a wonderful dinner, and then we got a room (we were the only guests on this early season night). The manager gave us the nicest room with an ocean view at a reduced price, when our alternative probably would have been spending the night in the car. We got coffee and scones delivered to our room the next morning, followed by a wonderful breakfast when we were the only guests in the hotel. Also, the sauna was wonderful the previous night. This place is top-notch, stay there if you can.

A true jewel in the middle of nowhere! Incredible food, great drinks, and live music. Only downside is the limited days/hours.

The rooms are decorated brilliantly. Come sundown, ours had a perfect ocean view of the sun burning into Pacific. The staff was accommodating and polite. The food was delicious. On top of that the rates were more than reasonable. We’d definitely return.

Lovely place! The room was big and we had access to a big balcony with an ocean view. In the morning we got a tray delivered to our room with super tasty scones, fruit, coffee and tea<3 And this was in addition to the breakfast! Wish we stayed for more than just one night, as this was probably the best hotel experience I’ve had (and it would give me time to use the sauna). Only downside I can think of is that the wifi signal didn’t reach our room. Since we didn’t have a phone signal either, we had no way to access the internet from our room. Our room was on the far end of the building, so this might not be a problem in the other rooms.

We had the BEST time at the Westport Hotel. It is off the beaten path, and is a real gem. The staff is very kind and accommodating. The rooms are gorgeous, and ours had a private balcony overlokking the ocean. Hot scones and coffee were delivered early with a full delicious breakfast served later. We ate on the porch, and it was so relaxing. We had to leave early and the staff packed up breakfast for us and had it waiting by the door in the morning! Can not recommend Enough, perfect place to stay during a drive up the coast.

An excellent hotel for a weekend (or anytime) getaway, superb breakfasts, our room was beautifully done, truly great people and a very friendly cat named Frankie! We spent 2 nights for our anniversary and will return next year......maybe sooner!

Heaven on earth. Location, breathtaking. Accommodations, surprisingly modern and comfortable but with rustic charm. Staff, unbelievably accommodating and sweet. Food, delicious.

We love to deliver our Bee Hunter Wine to the Westport Hotel whenever possible since it is served by the glass and customers really like it. The drive and views are so special. Tabitha and the locals are welcoming and down to Earth! Sunsets are surreal and the gardens are lovely too!

Such a beautiful hotel from the 1860’s and wonderful, attentive staff! Would highly recommend staying here on special occasions or if you’re around town! The “Hillside Room” was fabulous and had a great balcony with ocean views! The Abalone Pub (connected restaurant) serves wonderful food that’s well worth the price as well! This hotel also offers complimentary breakfast that’s delivered to your room in the morning and offers breakfast near their lobby as well!

I took a friend here today. Her first visit. Its right on the ocean, so wonderful view. The food was excellent, super nice behind the bar lady and a guy with a good voice entertaining us. So all's well!

This is a quaint charming small town hotel. The restaurant is open for dinner only. Many original paintings by local artists decorate the walls. Warm atmosphere. Cute garden out back. We just stopped to use bathroom and the staff was so kind to allow us. Would definitely come back to stay or eat.

I'm in between a 2 and a 5 for various reasons that's why I chose 4. The staff is full of smiles, so patient, accommodating, gracious and kind that's a 5. Room #4 $225 a night is a nice size bed, better pillows than room 3 (the smaller room $175 a night), bigger bathroom, better ventilation, balcony (#3 doesn't have), bigger space for your own personal things and better nights sleep. In comparison I'd give room #4 a 5 and room #3 a 2. My saving grace in room #3 was that they had a spare fan I could borrow for our last night. The first night, after moving to #3 from #4, I was so sweaty and congested and uncomfortable. They didn't have the space available for us to stay in #4. The fan added some moving air and a not so crammed and hot feel, but the congestion from both parties was still there. We both woke up full of mucus. I loved that we could ask for us not to have poppyseed every day for scones. It was wonderful waking up to fresh, warm scones with marmalades and preserves and our choices of tea and/or coffee with various accompaniments. I loved that we had robes in our wardrobes with slippers to feel at home. I loved the hair dryer being available in each room and with our request we were able to borrow an iron. I loved the fresh chocolates in dark and milk being left by our bedside every night. I loved that each day we opened our room to come inside and we had plenty of fresh water and glasess and that at the end of the day I was able to use their makeup/ face wash remover (they provided and a nice exfoliator scrub (they provided), also. I loved the beautiful succulents surrounding the rooms and around the perimeter of the motel with so many beautiful varieties of wild flowers and vegetables in the garden. I took so many pictures. It was captivating. We loved the live music on both Friday and Saturday evening from different artists. It was jivey and laid back. It was perfect for an atmosphere vibe. The food was lovely and picturesque in presentation. Detail was paid attention to well. The food didn't need additional salt and pepper. The chef's palate is on point. There was always an option of an egg breakfast item and in addition our choice of steel cut oats or a yogurt and fruit parfait for breakfast should the need for more than scone be wanted. We ate our breakfast downstairs on the outside patio and I loved it very much with the fresh morning sea air surrounding us and the fog lifting around us opening the view to the ocean more and more with every bite of scrumptious food and drink. Thank you very much for having us. I'd definitely come back in a heartbeat, BUT I will never stay in room #3, again.

What a perfect stop. Food was great. Interesting drinks (no full bar). The ladies behind the bar were probably the most interesting, fun and friendly group on our 4000mi road trip. Will return if ever back at the coast, might stay the night.

The Abalone pub is the gem of Fort Bragg. Great menu, wonderful atmosphere and the staff are just delightful.

The pub restaurant was a fantastic hang out of locals with live music and excellent food. Seafood, burger, and homemade yam fries plus more. Hard to choose only one. The hotel has a free electrical charging station too, 30amp 240v J1772 connector

The Westport Hotel was an absolutely lovely cap on a roadtrip with my daughter. The hotel is beautiful, rooms are so comfortable, the staff is welcoming and thoughtful and the food interesting and delicious. It is right across the road from the ocean and a small black sand beach. I will be back and recommend it to anyone looking for a special weekend away on California's north coast. Thank you!

It was a great experience, and the owners are extremely friendly! There are great views of the pacific and it is surrounded by a great little town.

What a delightfully warm, comfortable and hospitable place. We arrived late during some pretty stormy weather after being on the road for 8hrs and were greeted by our hosts with a smile, a drink by the fire and a lovely meal.The pub itself is delightful and the food was excellent. The rooms are extremely comfortable and well appointed - I wish we had have been able to get one with the balconies and views. Then the next day we are woken at 8 with scones and coffee/tea followed by breakfast at 9 - I am coming back just to enjoy a couple of days at this place - brilliant. We spend a fortune at Fairmonts and this place is a step above.

I wish I could write this review on my PC instead of via phone. It's really a 6 or 7 star review! Great little location, nice room, wonderful walk to the little beach headlands( like 3 minutes walk). The owner was FANTASTIC, very helpful and generally a great guy. Next time I need a relaxing weekend, and don't mind driving 4 hours, I'm be back.

Excellent hotel and service. Ocean view from our room’s balcony was fantastic. Very neat and tidy. Great attention to detail for guests comfort. Sauna is v good. Loved the scones and coffee at our bedroom door at 8am, and then the breakfast after.

This hotel has history. You can feel it. It also has the perfect array of amenities to make you feel at home, and wonderful people. I wish I'd had time to have some drinks at their bar.

Dinner with Ocean View and live music! We have passed the place hundreds of times, and findally stopped there. We ate dinner in the pub, local caught rock fish and chips with Cole slaw $16. Fort Bragg's best pilsner Scrimshaw $5. For 16oz. Neighborhood Apple Crisp $7. Fresh baked per order....yummy!!! Wonderful!!! Live music by Chuck something. . What a good place to stop! Menu is small, but the portions are not. We will stop there again!

Charming inn along the beach. Fabulous hosts and nice croissant, Danish & even a vegan pastry (if you are) for morning snack with pot of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Very clean & comfortable beds & luxurious bath towels!

This hotel and it's restaurant, the Abalone Bar and Grill, is a welcomed find in a very remote part of the North Coast. Meals are always fresh and good, staff is friendly and accommodating and the ambience and views can't be beat! We always find it amazing that such a quality establishment can survive in such a remote and unpopulated area. The nineteenth century town of Westport is a shadow of it's earlier self. It retains it's original charm and appears left behind as the rest of the world gallops through our more modern eras. We are regular customers at the restaurant (we want to support it and there are no other local options!), but have not stayed at the Victorian-styled hotel. But friends of ours have stayed and found it comfortable, and quiet and raved about the breakfasts. This is a gem in the middle of nowhere!

Beautiful B&B with the most fantastic views of the Lost Coast. You feel like you take a modern step back in time when staying in this hotel. No TV but plenty of books and games to occupy yourself with. The restaurant seems to be loosly themed around English pub food. When we stayed they served us a high tea and my wife, originally from Scotland, was rather pleased with this. Tea/coffee and scones for a wake up breakfast followed by something more substantial in the parlor. Overall a wonderful hotel with lovely staff and some of the best views of the rugged northern California coast.

We had a wonderful stay at the Westport Hotel. Welcoming staff made sure we felt at home during our weekend away with our five week old son. Room number one has the most stunning view and the perfect place to sip on some tea while watching the sunset.

Feels like you stumbled upon a well-kept secret but everyone is happy you came.

They were attentive, kind, always willing to help and truly anticipated all of our needs during our two-night stay. We dined in the pub on a Friday night and the food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch. Highly recommend the Westport Hotel for a quiet, romantic getaway, or just a lovely meal passing through the Westport area.

My boyfriend and I discovered the Westport Hotel on a whim while driving the 1 from the Oregon coast over Memorial Day weekend. Seeing as it was late and most other hotels were booked, we were thrilled to find accommodation. I cannot say it enough: the Westport Hotel is a GEM. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Carolyn, who is absolutely lovely. She immediately set us up with a bottle of wine, took our breakfast order, showed us the property and gave us a key to our room. The property has recently been renovated, and you can tell the owners really have taken it into thoughtful consideration. The bed was comfortable; sheets and towels of great quality and they even provided us a robe and slippers. I have never stayed in a bed and breakfast before, so this experience was much like Christmas morning. At 8 am we awoke to find piping hot coffee and warm scones at our door. We robed ourselves and ended up using the sauna; enjoyed yet another breakfast later that morning (served by Katherine - hope I'm spelling your name right!). Do not hesitate booking a night (or several!) at this wonderful spot. You'll be so glad you did.

You can feel the history in this beautifully maintained hotel, which, thanks to the thoughtful touches of coffee and scones delivered your door in the morning, and the wonderfully attentive and friendly staff, feels far more like a cozy bed and breakfast. We opted for the full breakfast in addition to the tea/coffee and scones, which was terrific. There were options to fit all tastes and efforts to eat healthy, or indulge a bit! The view from the front of the pub was a perfect setting to relax and eat after waking up. Located right across Highway 1 from 9 acres of preserved headlands, held by the nonprofit Westport Village Society, which provides a nature walk and stairway access to Eddie White Beach. Such assets speak to the tremendous sense of community in Westport, once the largest town in California north of San Francisco. Westport is a lovely destination on the dramatic Northern California coast, and the Westport Hotel is a great place to rest and eat during a stay.

This place is awesome. We planned our trip to hit Sunday brunch here. Food was great. Scones were deeeelish! I bet spending a night here would also be a great experience.

SO personalized. So intimate. No TVs, phone service poor, great way to disconnect and focus. We came here on a business retreat and it really allowed us to connect with each other. The view and sounds of the ocean from our balcony were beautiful and afternoon tea with scones even better.

We had a great stay at the Westport Hotel. The staff was extremely gracious and the room was beautiful and spotless. Had wonderful service from the complementary bottle of wine when we arrived to the delicious breakfast before we left. We will definitely stay there again when we are in the area!

We were three cyclists who had just ridden 7 days from chico, camping outdoors. I think we frightened the staff when we arrived but we were warmly welcomed into their grand suite (which we proceeded to decimate with our camping gear). It was a terrific stay.
