We went to Backwoods Crossing with a large group, so my only real complaint is perhaps the waitress had too many other tables while serving a group of 17. In terms of atmosphere, overall the place was cute. Points are only docked because the porch part had still air and it was hot. For food, you get a good amount for the price you pay. We ordered mozz logs, which are huge. Pro tip, have the logs served on the side otherwise they get soggy if you don't finish them fast enough. The chicken sandwich was mostly good, though I'd recommend it without the cheese blend. It gave it a sweet flavor that I wasn't a fan of. And finally, the beef sandwich was good though perhaps the aioli was a bit much.

We found a hidden Gem today! Backwoods Crossing!! I love the farm to table concept. The food and service were amazing! Grace was our servicer 5 star!!! We had Southern Spin Cob and Seared Ahi Tuna.

This place never disappoints. The crabcakes and veggies were amazing.

Shopped for lunch on I way through town. We were impressed with the service and food. The vegetarian in our group was very happy with the options and enjoyed her meal. The atmosphere was great. We also walked around the garden out back. Labels on the plants and trees would be a big help.

Trying to keep this a secret but hands down my favorite restaurant ever ❤️ everything from front of house to back of the house is exceptional. Appreciate the attention to detail and great management, thanks Rice brothers!

We stopped by the Automobile Museum and, on a whim, we stopped by Backwoods Crossing. This is the best discovery we've made in Tally. Every single thing was amazing. Service, drinks, food, flavors, atmosphere... My wife and my 5 year old daughter both wholeheartedly agreed. Save room for dessert. Actually, even if you didn't save room, get it anyway. You won't regret it.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Backwoods Crossing, and I can’t say enough about their salad with gluten-free catfish bites. The catfish was perfectly seasoned and had a delightful crunch that paired beautifully with the fresh, crisp greens. The highlight, however, was the oyster mushrooms – their flavor and texture were simply out of this world. A big shout-out to Jade and Ella for their outstanding service. They were attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. The atmosphere was top tier, creating a relaxing and enjoyable dining experience. When you first pull in you have no idea how good the food is. It looks like a little white shack. Calming ambiance. The catfish just melts in your mouth. Our server Bridget must live here because she knew so many details. They grow many of the ingredients in their garden.

Atmosphere is great and some of the best food you will ever eat. Try the Greek salad and the crab and corn bisque!

I'd probably give it a 4.5z Food was good, I had the buffalo chicken burger, with fries. And a side of veggies which tasted awesome with those small potatoes. They have a garden that's part of the property you can walk through. Didn't like the watermelon lemonade they had tho. And didn't like the water. But I got another drink from the dessert drink menu. Overall a good experience.

It's a very nice restaurant. Took my girlfriend there and she loved it. Their food is amazing too

Okay. It's really hard to knock me off my feet. Let's start with the Basil Buttons. If you love stuffed mushrooms you will just die for these. The Stolen from N'awlins. Blackend chicken with pasta. Absolutely fantastic. The sugo-rosa sauce made this meal. My wife had the Pressed Brie-Capri. Which she happily shared with me. Definitely, a home run. So we indulged a little further with the Key Lime pie. Supreme smoothness! It's a shame you can only give this place 5 stars. This is not a quiet restaurant. But absolutely worth every penny, every bite and every minute.

Very cool place with excellent food! Walking thru gardens where they grow the veggies added to the whole experience. Chicken sandwich with beast sauce was delicious as was the pressed cypress sandwich was amazing. Curly fries are definitely necessary too!

Omg! The food was delicious! I ordered the orange blossom pilsner, the truffle brussetta, and the crab bisque. To die for! It's such a cute little place, too. I was just passing through from louisiana, and now I'll have to make this my regular stop.

Great farm to table place. Heard about the boar burger and fell in love with it right away. Everything else we have tried we have loved.

Update 6-22-2024: the food is still excellent and good service. But the restaurant was very hot to the point we were sweating and could see many others sweating. The server simply said “we know”. Not a great way to enjoy a meal. The food was absolutely amazing. Everything was delicious. The Mahan cheese logs are huge. The Seafood Heaven (aka Shrimp and Grits) was perfect. The staff is friendly and it is a cute little restaurant and also has nice outdoor seating. One suggestion would be to get a new company for the gift cards because their website is always down and the balance on our GF was not what was purchased.

Awesome place! REAL food is nearly impossible to find outside of the home. The menu options range from basic to innovative. Getting to walk through the gardens to see the food fresh on the plants is better than dessert!

This place is ahhhhMAZING! Every single bite of food was fabulous! The service was spectacular. The hardest part of the whole experience was deciding what to try. My kids loved the "mozzarella logs" so much they had to have 3 orders! I had the prime rib sandwich and even the fries were fantastic. I can't wait to visit again!

Very, very dissapointing meals. Promised my wife for years I would take her here, supposedly great good. Not even close, under cooked scallops, yuck, and Duck, still quacking, very dissapointing. Dishwashers likely cooking that night. But fortunately our server made the experience somewhat tolerable. Wont be back anytime soon sadly to say

I was thoroughly impressed by the farm-to-table experience. As you walk in, you are greeted by a beautiful garden where all the organic vegetables are grown, setting the tone for a fresh and wholesome dining experience. We started with the deviled eggs, which were delightful and set the stage for what was to come. For the main course, we had the Mammoth burger—a 1.25-pound burger loaded with cheese and bacon. It was one of the biggest burgers I've ever had, and the flavor was simply amazing, we also had the blue cheese burger and loved every bite. I also, cannot forget the incredible cheese grits. To round off the meal, we enjoyed the homemade bread pudding for dessert, which was fantastic. Overall, Backwoods Crossing offers a unique and delicious farm-to-table dining experience that I highly recommend. The quality of the ingredients and the care put into each dish truly shine through.

Loved this gem! We came during graduation weekend and had a great dinner for 6 of us. We had delucious drinks, appetizers, and entrees, and everything was yummy. So glad we know about this Tally place!!

Backwoods Crossing catered our wedding a few weeks ago and did an OUTSTANDING job! We had guests from all over the country and they all commented on how wonderful the food was. Everything they serve is farm to table. We had crab cake balls, bacon wrapped scallops, and the best stuffed mushrooms you have ever tasted. For our dessert we had a vision of a donut cake. Kayla and DJ constructed an actual wedding cake made with krispy cream donuts and it was the centerpiece of the night! The staff at Backwoods was also great to work with. Alex and Taylor did a wonderful job coordinating all of the details for our big day. Hire Backwoods for catering or go eat at the restaurant- they go above and beyond!

The blue crab corn bisque is absolutely delicious.

Really used to like this place but this time was different. Our server (Brandon) was obviously trying to rush us out of there and flip his tables and he was always rushing us. The crab cakes were definitely cheap shredded crab and the food overall was just not like it usually is. 5/10 experience overall :(

I visit Backwoods Crossing every time I pass through Tallahassee for business across the state of Florida. Unique preparations using fresh farm to table ingredients. This is hands down my favorite dining experience. Keep up the great job!

1st Timer Review, a little off the beaten path you can miss this place; if you're not looking for it. Backwoods sources local ingredients a.k.a geared around Farm to Table concept. We started with a cup of blue crab corn bisque, it was quite savory, but not what I was expecting taste wise so I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10. Next, we enjoyed the stuff crab balls which were very tasty and was paired over Woods sauce 10 out of 10. Lastly, we shared the "Big Foot" and it lived up to its title! The Smoked Pork Loin over sweet mash was "Everything" it was tender and gave me the taste of smoked ham vibe in a sense. DELICIOUS!!! Portion size is definetly shareable and we still had leftovers. Oh and let me not forget we had a side of the collard greens..YUMMMY as a southern girl the greens were on point. Please follow @deatlicious on Instagram if you enjoy good food. First time there, the food was excellent, I would recommend this place to everyone.

If you are driving on 10 & don’t want chain food, this is your stop. It is the rare place that isn’t even out of your way, but would be worth driving extra if it was. We had a boar burger and salad with roasted corn, sautéed shiitakes, roasted red pepper and a crab cake, and bread pudding for dessert. Delicious.

This is a pretty unique place. We enjoyed it. I actually forgot what I got to eat because I'm putting this reviewing much later after my vacation. But I definitely remember it was good so I'm giving it five stars! And the service was really good too I do remember that.

Food was great we had the big foot and the steak melt! Salad was super fresh! The meat was tender tasteful! And sweet potatoes were amazing! Cute gardens and amazing people! If you like organic food yes this is a perfect place to eat! And prices are not bad at all!

Excellent dining, excellent food, excellent staff! Backwoods Crossing is a local farm-to-table establishment that grows and raises a lot of their food right on site. It's not the least expensive food you'll find, but it more than makes up for it in taste! They also sell a number of their homemade dressings and assorted other items so you can enjoy them at home as well. They have a number of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

We stopped by on travel from Texas to Florida. Now y’all know that Houston, TX has some great restaurants. We were there 3 weeks and tried a lot of them. Backwards Crossing is cute inside, very nice servers, even hostess was nice. We ordered blue crab bisque to start with and then the crab balls. The bisque was runny and had pieces of crab, not like bisque should be. It wasn’t creamy and puréed. It was good though. The crab balls were tasty. I ordered the Crab Trap salad. Very nice greens, but crab cake was cold. Husband ordered the ribeye and they were out of that. So server said they were serving the New York strip at same price as ribeye ($45, opposed to $50) and it would come with garlic mashed potatoes. Husband said ok and ordered this meal. The New York strip was served as the ribeye description with vegggie medley. Anyway, his order all messed up. They gave him garlic mashed potatoes as a separate dish. Meal was good, but not up to the standards the menu prices dictate. With tip, our lunch was $122. Charming idea, just needs better execution on meals. Other than this, we’d give a second try on travels in the future.

Everything is amazing here! Great food, atmosphere, and service! The prices are a little high, but the food is very good and cooked to order. The outdoor garden and animal area is a bonus, especially with kids! We just stumbled over hungry from the Automobile Museum next door and were pleasantly surprised!

Ella was our waitress and she was awesome, great food!

We had an early dinner with Frog Legs and Rowdy Shrimp for appetizers. The Frog Legs were dry and gamey in spite of the great sauces. For our mains we had the Country Catfish Filet and Thick-n-Thin Steak Melt. Both dishes were far superior to the appetizers.

Wonderful place. A regular feature of any special occasion. Plus, you get to go see the animals out back after you eat :D

I'm not from Tally, but I do visit few times because my friend lives here. But every time I visit Tally, I would come here for dinner at least once. Food is absolutely delicious and atmosphere is great! It does get busy around dinner time, so I did have to wait for few minutes but I think it's worth it! I like to try different things on my menu everytime I come and they all have been really good. Also, I'm usually not a dessert person, but their key lime pie is to die for! It's a popular dessert menu, so sometimes they are out. But if you get a chance, get their key lime pie! It's soooooo good 😄

Excellent as always. It was my husband’s birthday so I reached out to get a reservation, which they usually don’t do for a party so small. They were so great!! I got a wonderful reservation and they were so nice. Oh and the food was amazing, drinks on point, service was top notch and trust me when I tell you - take home feed and eat the entire key lime pie!! Sorry there aren’t any photos but we were too busy enjoying ourselves.

We waited approx 15 min for a table. Collin gave us great recommendations. She was knowledgeable and anticipated our needs. The food was phenomenally fresh and the portions were huge. Will be returning very soon... Especially since they have a new garden menu every week. We got dessert to go and will be trying them later.

Nice, quaint farm to table restaurant. This was my husband and my first time trying Backwoods Crossing. It is a little on the pricey side, but the food was delicious! We ended up starting off with the stuffed crab balls. For our main meals we ordered the beast and the black and bleu boar burger. You can walk around and see where they grow their fresh ingredients for the restaurant. There are rabbits, chickens, bee hives, and plenty of greens. We had great service, then it just fizzled out half way through. My husband had to wait to get refills for his drink and ended up going up to the hostess to pay our bill because our waitress didn't come back around. All in all, would definitely make another trip to try other things off the menu!

Wow!!! This place was so amazing from start to finish. We had mozzarella logs to start that were perfectly fried with fresh tomato marinara. My husband and I both had starter salads. One spinach salad with fresh mushrooms, red onion, tomatoes and homemade ranch dressing. My husband had a Caesar salad with fresh Parmesan. For entrees we had Fried catfish over polenta with bacon greens, a Ribeye steak sandwich, and an Ahi tuna sandwich. I can’t pick a favorite because they were all SOOO good. For dessert we shared the chocolate tiramisu with a scoop of ice cream on top with strawberries and cream on the side. It was phenomenal! I wish we lived closer. 10+ stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We stopped for an appetizer and beer at 1:30, and there was a 20-minute wait. We loved everything about this place, how it got started, and where it is today.

Great atmosphere, nice decor, beautiful food presentation! Our waitress was really friendly, answering all the questions, helped us with our menu choices and was on top of all our needs. Everything that we ordered was delicious and fresh, especially the boar burger was amazing!

Great food, nice location, good service, and a casual/nice atmosphere. I am surprised this place is not rated higher overall. The food was excellent, I had the big foot, and I gotta say that it was the tastiest pork I've had in the US... nothing beats a fritanga from Bolivia... the crab cake appetizer was perfectly cleaned, not one shell in it. The steak skewers, the chicken breast stiffed with pork, and the tacos were tasty as well. Definitely will be back to try their other offerings.

This is a must if you are in the Tallahassee area! Brandy was excellent serving us. Atmosphere is amazing, food amazing, drinks amazing, service amazing! I will 100% be back next time my travels bring me back to this area.

From farm to table, it's not a bad place to stop by and experience for yourself. The food was good and they got some of the farm right there surrounding the restaurant. It's a busy location, so plan accordingly. I did have the runs afterward for a few days. But I guess that's expected when you're missing your daily dose of preservatives.

I really liked this place! The food was fantastic. I got the Stolin' from Naw'lins and really enjoyed it. The shrimp, chicken, sausage, sauce, and posta were great. I got the pudding for dessert. That was just okay. I kind of wish I would have got something else. The clam chowder was also very good for an appetizer. The server was very friendly and took good care of us. I liked the restaurant atmosphere a lot. It was very clean and cozy feeling. It was a little dark though which made it a little difficult to read the menu.
