This place is one of the most beloved spots for food enthusiasts in New York. Although the prices might be a bit steep, you'll quickly understand why it holds such a special place in New Yorkers' hearts. From the early rush of diverse and flavorful snacks to the various delicious tomato-based dishes and meticulously crafted breads, it's hard to describe all the wonders. It's best to go and experience it for yourself.

Had a wonderful anniversary dinner. Hard to compare Blue Hill to other restaurants, as it’s a fairly different experience. Four hours and I can’t even remember how many courses. It was art, it was entertainment, it was education, and of course the food was excellent. The staff love to tell you about the farming, the processes, the ingredients, and will answer as many questions as you can ask. We were taken inside the kitchen for one of our courses and given a full explanation of how they operate. No two tables get the same menu and some dishes are even semi-improvised. Even the dinnerware and ceramics are originals for the restaurant and were works of art in themselves. The meal was very much in line with Dan Barber’s philosophy where vegetables, fruits and grains are the “star” of the meal with meat accents rather than vice versa, although there was still more than enough meat at the end, and by the third desert course I had to stop. The farm is lovely too, although we skipped the tour because we’ve seen it many times.

Had an amazing dining experience at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Tarrytown. The presentation was stunning—like the dish with fresh berries and sorbet, beautifully accented with edible flowers and a bright green herb oil. The flavors were perfectly balanced and captured the essence of summer. Another highlight was a dish served with a green sauce poured from a snail shell, creating a striking visual contrast with the deep-colored puree on the plate. The flavors were earthy and fresh, a perfect combination. Overall, the food and cocktails were outstanding, with incredible attention to detail. Blue Hill at Stone Barns is definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for something unique and unforgettable.

We had lunch and did the tour, together created a very nice experience, and would highly recommend this combo. Tour was fairly short, but still, we learned quite a bit, and it was very cool to visit the kitchen and learn there as well. Lunch was excellent and affordable relative to dinner. For the entire tray, you pay $42 and get an open faced sandwich, 2 salads, soup, and a desert. All the dishes were amazing. You can also buy some fresh produce or things like honey and granola in their store.

I’ve had Blue Hill on my bucket list for over a decade. Not native to New York and with the price point, I had to wait till I was in town and ready to make a reservation. Dan Barber has always been a chef I looked up to. I really wanted this experience to be flawless. The service, the staff, and the environment were top notch, but some hours after getting back home I came down with the most painful and severe food poisoning I’ve ever had. There’s no doubt that it was from something on the menu or the water. I know things are controlled in the kitchen, but something was missed and I paid a hefty price. Instead of being able to say I went and it was wonderful, I instead am left with the most painful food poisoning that sent me to visit an HCP for treatment. I’m still not in the clear and it’s been 4/5 days now. I did contact the restaurant and they said they weren’t sure what it could be. They did not offer any other explanation other than a small offer for the next time I’m in. It took me a decade to plan this and I ended up extremely sick.. I doubt I’ll ever be back. The price of dinner x2, missed work, medications, medical bills… this is set to be the most expensive dinner I’ve ever had.

Using tok to make your reservations has allowed for a bot to buy everything- been waiting for 2 weeks and on the exact minute got to try and make a reservation and they were all gone. On exactly the minute? You should allow for real people to call so real people can reserve- you are trying to have a real restaurant right? This doesn’t happen at Casa Maria Luigi or at Schloss Schauenstein in Fürstenau. Disappointed that you aren’t keeping up with the times. New York knows this is a problem and many major restaurants and bars speak on this.

I truly wanted to visit this Michelin star restaurant. The property is amazing, the farm tour is fascinating, the service is great. We were amazed by many things - it’s so unique how they serve food. However, for this type of restaurant it’s inappropriate if waiter can’t pour the water without spill it. Maybe she was new! Good luck then! We visited in March to celebrate our anniversary. The dining experience began with a tour of the facility, where we tried various produce samples from the farm. The atmosphere and service were all excellent, and we really enjoyed our experience at the farm. As for the actual food, it was a mixed bag, perhaps because we visited during winter. The seafood and vegetables were delicious, while the pickles and preserves were less so. We would like to give this place another try during a more bountiful season.

This review is about Cafeteria at Stone Barns: Lunch Tray. They have one daily menu featuring their produce from the farm. Lunch tray is consist of small plates priced around $50, which sounds a bit pricey for the portions, but I assume the ingredients are fresh and high quality. When I went there, the lunch menu was some pickles, cured meat, taco and bread - everything was sour - even the dessert looking cake was sour. Balance of the meal was a bit disappointing, so got a small apple for $2, which was soggy and bruised inside, but I liked their coffee. It is a beautiful place for a getaway from the city - an hour drive from Manhattan. The lunch tray could be hit or miss since they only offer one set menu, which you don’t know until you get there, but they have pretty outdoor tables surrounded by nice garden. I would come back for another try later.

Beautiful meal and delightful service. My husband and I have been to many tasting menu restaurants and this one is definitely a top 3 for us. The tour before the meal was a fun way to start and learn all about the history of Stone Barn and the chef and team’s vision. For dinner, the initial servings of vegetables were both simple and delicious and the series of pickled items were my favorite. We loved the tour and quick bite we got to have in the kitchen and how attentive all of the servers were. We told one server about what we do for work and almost every server ended up asking us questions about it and seemed genuinely interested. Dish highlights for us were the deviled turnip, pickled veg, kohlrabi “burrito”, scallop and celery root, and steak. (Honestly everything was good, I could just list everything).

In two words an amazing experience ! Was invited along with my wife by my sister and brother in law to celebrate their 30th anniversary, mid Jan 24. Roughly an hours drive into upstate NY from Manhattan. Started with a tour of the captive farm where they experiment with all manner of food from winter veggies to grass fed cattle. Beautiful romantic spot up on a hilltop with French Normandy style buildings and barns etc spread out across some courtyards and arches. All organic, farm to table and seasonal. The dinner started at 6pm till 10 pm with wine pairing. Multiple small dishes flows in continuously and the enthusiasm and experience of the talented chef team really comes thru. The closest such experience is probably at the French Laundry at Napa. There is no fixed menu as they tend to serve what they manage to grow on any given day. It would be great if they are able to build a small hotel so guests coming over from further afield can stay over after the dinner and enjoy the well stocked bar and some of the comfortable lounges for night caps etc.

Its literally carbs with carbs with carbs …. I was expecting more greens and refreshing menu … Also throughout the meal -1 hour there were no one refilling the self served water bar, and i repeatedly saw people confused and frustrated about that. Gave a 3 star for service just for the frequency of refilling the water tank, the counter servers are great though. The premise is huge and beautiful, its a good hike and exploration around the farm and greenhouse.

Not for meat lovers. I heard there may be some meat dishes but closest I got were some cured meats which is good Charcuterie but not quite savory steak. But what I don’t really understand is why such a high price for all veggie menu? Even three Michelin starred Eleven Madison Park is not quite that expensive and that’s located in the expensive city. They are in upstate country where rent is literally dirt cheap there. I don’t doubt those are some of freshest veggies and some dishes I got were literally raw veggies but I feel this is a cruel joke and everyone inside the kitchen are chuckling while we eat. To be fair, we get a visit inside kitchen late into the night which I thought was a bit weird but that’s when they put on their straight faces (No more laughing). But that’s my theory, anyway. But seriously, how lazy and is it even acceptable to not even show a menu on what patrons will be eating that night? I have a new rule added by other dining rules. Will not go back to restaurants that is cash only. Will not go back to restaurants where I see bugs or feel it’s dirty. And will not go back to restaurants with no menu.

Our first experience at Blue Hill at Stone Barns. We arrived early a bit after 10am to sample something from the breakfast menu. We wandered the grounds and buildings to fill time waiting for our Lunch Tray reservation at 12 noon. Beautiful facility exteriors and grounds with interior spaces that are void of warmth and completely reject their location. They're inside a historic 1930's barn/farm buildings. The "Caffeteria" looks like a Classroom in a progressive elementary school. Perfectly disappointing. Terrain by Urban Outfitters understood the assignment when retrofitting historic farm spaces for dining/retail use. Warm, Cozy modern farmhouse...Special. Or as the kids say Insta ready. What a fabulous dinner!!!! The service was top notch!! Alberto was so knowledgeable and he anticipated our needs. We started with a soft potato and rye bread with an assortment of cucumbers. Kudos to the chef who made another salad for my daughter when they saw that she didn’t like the tomatoes. We said it’s OK, but they brought her an apple, melon, and cucumber salad that she devoured. She loved it! We had the sweet seasonal tomato salad with the beet and tomato gazpacho. Each course came with wine parings. Dinner was roast chicken which I thought was under seasoned. The only seasoning was the sea salt on top. The tender sweet corn with cheese and fried shallots was great. Roast eggplants with tomato purée. Dessert was panna cotta with a blueberry compote and lemon thyme cream which was delicious. Over all a good meal. All in was $175 per person for the community table.

Beautiful grounds and experimental farms, fields for pasture for animals and greenhouses. Kind, knowledgeable staff and exquisite dining. Can't recommend enough. The attention to detail and complete hospitality is what is so special about this place.

Blue Hill at Stone Barn is an experience for every one of your senses. Visually, the property is stunning and deserved of it’s own time to walk thru the farm and greenhouse. The food is (obviously) amazing - but did you know there’s a cafeteria style lunch that you can reserve in advance and enjoy one of the freshest, tastiest casual lunches for a modest price? If you haven’t visited, make a reservation and dine here today. The experience will be absolutely worthwhile!
