Worth a drive to enjoy their fabulous variety of eggs en cocotte (baked in a flame proof deep cup with bread and additions like carmelized onions or lardons of bacon) served with toasted baguette and heavenly potatoes. The croissants and other pastries are wonderful, and there’s a shop offering exquisite patisserie and all sorts of lovely giftware and sweets, including gelato. The pharmacy itself is a beautiful antique gem that remains unspoiled and homey. The coffee is fabulous too.

The place is cute, but small. I did enjoy the dessert and cookies I bought to-go, but I found the prices to be much higher than I expected them to be. In hindsight I should have asked beforehand, but I didn't think it would be more than $6-7 for a small chocolate mousse bomb style dessert. I do wish the prices were listed in the case, for transparency's sake, but if you are looking for beautiful and fairly tasty desserts and don't mind the cost, it's worth stopping by. I didn't stick around for brunch or anything so I can't speak on that, but the dining area is very cute and the few things I saw in passing surely looked good. It wasn't my cup of tea, but don't let that stop you from checking it out if you like what you see via the pics and such.

This place has been open for 3 years and we were finally able to stop in! Coffee and pastries were delicious. Service a but slow but only bc they were training a new employee. Such a cute place and a true gem! Will definitely be back :)

Totally agree with one of the reviews here, it's hard to find a truly good restaurant at Shoreline until we found this little gem! Not sure why, but most of the 4.5+ stars restaurants around here are average or mediocre (it's not the case outside of this area).

I had high hopes for this little spot! However, we found the pastry to be subpar/basic, unfortunately. Service was not welcoming unless you are fancy.

Came in for brunch about 90 minutes before closing. It appeared that two tables were empty but needed to be cleared. We were told that they were very busy and no tables were available. When asked the duration of the wait we were told it could be a while as they were busy. We decided to get a couple items from the bakery. We were next in line to be served when the parties left the dining room and were served ahead of us, including bakery selection. We purchased 3 croissants and left. I am not sure what was amiss, but there were four empty tables when we left. I guess they do not really want bunch customers on Sunday.

What a pleasant surprise! We have been visiting our son for years who is part a program for disabled adults. We are foodies and have never been impressed with any food on the shoreline. This brunch was beyond all expectations! We will definitely be back.

Nice little spot in Old Saybrook that is worth checking out if you like French cuisine. It was quiet in the morning and not too crowded. The atmosphere inside puts you squarely into a little French bistro. The menu helps cement that feel. The service was good, but as it slowly filled with customers and only one waitress, it got more difficult to get their attention. That almost didn't matter as I was obsessed with the coquette I got. Highly recommend.

A really great place in OS that I’ve enjoyed going to since moving here! I last minute purchased a pecan pie for Thanksgiving and it was so beautiful to look at and even better, my entire family absolutely loved it. Hoping we can stop in to try the brunch soon now that I know the baked goods are so delicious.

Amazing breakfast! Great selection of options for not a large restaurant. They were able to seat us on a busy weekend morning and everything we tried was excellent. Would also recommend trying the gelato on your way out!

This is the cutest place! I dropped in on a rainy day for brunch, and the food and atmosphere were perfect. I loved my omelette, and it was so nice seeing people just visit with one another. The atmosphere is so friendly, and I can’t wait to try the baked goods! I definitely will be back. :)

BEST TEA I HAVE EVER HAD It is necessary that you order the Moroccan mint tea- you cannot buy it they brew it there and it is wonderful The food is great- it feels so so so fancy but the place itself is cozy and quaint so it is the perfect combination. The service was amazing, all staff were kind and patient. Somehow there weren’t many people in the shop, which allowed a lot of attention on my group. Spent a lot of money mostly on pastries after the meal, because it was a goodbye brunch we went full send. Would 100% go here again.

This place is incredible. We stumbled upon it while in town, and we made sure to make a reservation and go back the next morning as well. Charming shop, incredible French brunch. This place should start getting some serious love. Best brunch I have had since M. Wells first opened up in Long Island City a decade or so ago. Amazing surprise. Get a reservation - small and we watched a bunch of parties get turned away. Worth calling the restaurant and reserving.

Authentic feeling little French breakfast cafe. Food and coffees were delicious and on point. I ordered a dessert from the front case and it was probably the best dessert I've ever had. This place deserves a lot more attention than it gets.

Absolute must for authentic French cuisine. Top notch ingredients & perfectly size portions, all topped off with wonderfully attentive service. Whilst dining you can scan the surrounding shelves which offer an eclectic array of French candies, spices, jarred & canned items & all sorts of great gift ideas. Today I tried the salade niçoise.

With Coccotte’s 2 year anniversary coming up, I must say, you can’t go wrong with a visit to Cocotte. Every time I visit, not only has the food been amazing — which is what you’d expect — but the staff, atmosphere, and aromas make this place one of a kind. So what are you waiting for? Give Coccotte a try, you won’t regret it.

The food is incredible, and I find myself getting the same omelette that I got the first time every single time I go there. The wait staff is very friendly, and the chef often comes out to check in on the food quality. Everyone in Old Saybrook and the surrounding area should try breakfast here.

Such a nice escape from the chaos of New England. Eating here feels as close to being in France as you can find in our area. It is quiet, slower pace (in a nice way) and the food is delicious. It feels like each dish is handled with care with little touches like fresh herbs and flakey sea sea salt. Everything I have eaten here has been memorable but my favorite may be the Cocotte Forestiere (eggs with mushrooms) with yummy potatoes on the side. Also, leave room for dessert. Whether you get one of the extravagant desserts or a macaroon, you will not be disappointed. Cocotte is a gem.

The pastries were decent but very expensive. The reason I gave 2 stars is because I went in and got 2 different things that ended up being a total of 25 dollars. I did not leave a tip because I only went in and got a couple things and left. I paid with a card and later that day it showed up that they put a tip on there themselves of 4.79 which I did NOT authorize. It's sad when you cannot trust a company to not add their own tip onto your bill, I guess you have to pay cash or they will steal from you. To the response: I did not check any boxes that is the point! So someone else must have after I left. That was the problem. Like I said make sure you bring cash so someone else can't check off a box when you didn't check any!

We vacationed in Old Saybrook for a week. We found many good restaurants in the area but this hidden gem was my favorite. The chef and his staff are terrific. Their breakfasts were the best cuisine of the trip and among the best I’ve enjoyed in all my travels (Paris included). The dining area is small so make a reservation.

My husband and I have been coming here since they opened and they are always phenomenal, in my opinion the absolute best patisserie in the state with authentic French staples as well as explorative culinarily endeavors- something for every gourmand. The ingredients are outstandingly fresh with many of their savory dishes being tastefully simple to highlight their quality. Honestly, a visit here is just like being back in France!
