Omg !! This place is amazing. We ordered off DoorDash & got the combo plate with fish & chicken with two sides. The chicken was seasoned so well & juicy. The Brussels sprouts were probably my favorite part of the entire meal. My food arrived warm & ready to eat. I’m from the south & thoroughly enjoy everything from here. I’d highly recommend

The food is the best southern food that I have tasted since I gave been here in California. The beans and rice🔥🔥🔥, short ribs😋😋😋, turkey legs, fell of the bone, the potato salad🔥🔥🔥, the BRUSSELS!!!! I could go on and on!!!!

I was totally surprised! I went there because it was a Soul food in the valley. I didn't feel like traffic after Pilates and a mile walk. Google they were the closest. Eclectic dining crab/lobster cakes with delicious chessy grits, shrimp fried with the perfect batter. They even sell Gators and taters. The best red beans and rice in a bowl with juice not gummed up. This SWEET BLESSING by Cyler is just that plus the menu changes every day! That Means Fresh not left over warmed up. I highly suggest this cool 😎 venue for breakfast lunch or dinner! 🚘

It’s soooooo hard to find good food in LA area let alone soul food but this place is bomb!!!! The owners are from Duval county in FLA so apparently they know how to season some food down there cause that’s what a lot of La food lacks ...it’s reasonably priced too check it out you won’t be disappointed!!! They are super sweet too!

Ppl often tell you the bad things but never want to tell you all the good about a business. I’ve been here several times to eat and it’s definitely been a sweet blessing on my soul. First, the service is impeccable! It’s been hard to find a REAL SOUL FOOD spot in LA since I’ve lived here. The owners have always made me feel right at home and that’s the main reason I continue to return. Second, the food is AMAZING! I’ve had EVERYTHING on the menu and EVERYTHING was DIVINE! My favorite has to be the pork chops, fried fish and fried chicken. To top it off, they offer a drink called porch punch and it’s delicious. I’d recommend anyone to come here for some authentic tasting soul food and a real southern good cooking experience. Sweet Blessings has definitely been a blessing in my life.

This place is a bit hidden, you wouldn't see it unless you knew it was there. Friendly and accommodating owners and staff. We went for lunch on a Thursday afternoon it was not very busy, but if you go on weekends be prepared to wait a while. The food was good, everything was very well seasoned and the ingredients were fresh. I got a few things, but the ones that stood out to me the most was the delicious extra thick Mac and cheese, and the catfish that was seasoned and fried to perfection.

Great restaurant! The food was outstanding from the ribs to the mac N cheese and fried okra. The husband and wife team were very nice and checked on us through out the meal. Highly recommend. 👍🏽😎

Sweet Blessings is the most appropriate name for this restaurant. What a great little find in a little strip mall in Van Nuys! The food was so delicious! The fried chicken! The fried catfish! Vegan Mac and Cheese! What a great lunch we had here .The service is excellent and the couple who own the place were very warm and gracious. Please go to experience this slice of enlightenment for yourself but don't blink or you'll miss it! You're welcome.

Go right now! Hands down this is the best catfish I've had at a restaurant in LA. It reminds me of my moms. NOT greasy at all!!! It retained the heat until I got to the last bite.The Red snapper hubby loved, the fried chicken got 5 stars from our friends! It was 5 of us that went for the first time and we were already planning a return before we finished our meals! Cornbread muffins are unusual BUT DELISH 😋. They have this house made condiment called Pepper Jelly.... OMG We purchased a jar for home! It's a must try AND buy!!! The Porch Punch is also amazing! I'm not going to ruin your surprise, I'd highly recommend you GO ASAP and see for yourself. When mom comes to town we're definitely going to take her there first! Food is great and the service!!!! Good ole southern home cooking !!!

The food was tasty and well seasoned. I'm from the south so I was surprised the food was as good as the south because usually people in California put their healthy spin on it and it doesn't taste as good.... but it did not disappoint me. I loved the flavor of the fried chicken skin and the cheese in the Mac was good, the okra was crispy and seasoned and I also enjoyed my peach mango cobbler with ice cream. I will definitely go back and try the other stuff on the menu.

Great food, great people owning the business, and prices are not too bad, 4 stars because the chicken is a hit or miss with its seasoning and juicyness, and I think the peach cobbler is a little too watery, other than that the food is still pretty good, and they are very nice and blessed people that own the restaurant so I come back often

I met my soldier sister and she was absolutely wonderful!! It was a kind and warm and very personal feel. The food was OMG!!! Words can't describe it! I almost had to do some time cause my son ate my peach mango cobbler!! It's enough to share but won't want too... I highly recommend this place if you are in town. Or you could just make the trip, it's definitely worth it!! Good down home people and food. I love this place and I am VERY particular about my food. I even met a movie star while I was there!! Just left with a bit smile on my face. The smothered porkchops I had today were wonderful. The pork fell right off the bone as it should, and it was just as tender as it seemed. Smothered done right. The mac and cheese was wonderfully cooked and the collard greens were delicious. The pepper jelly is a must try if you like heat with your meals. Last but not least, the peach cobbler. Delicious and heavy all the same. I came here hungry and I left wanting a nap, and I mean that in the best way. Moving on from the food was customer service. This is what made my trip worth it the most. Everyone here was a sweetheart and super kind, checking in on me and asking if I needed anything. Discussed how tasty the food was. Had it not been for the larger gentleman, I'd not have tried that awesome pepper jelly. He suggested that on top of the collard greens and man was he right. Stellar place, I don't know when I'll be back again but I most certainly will be. Much love.

Came here on Father's Day. The ambiance, customer service and FOOD was equiste. Although it was fried food the taste was fresh and crisp. It is evident the food is not all fried in one oil. The owner personally helped our party of 12 and made us feel as if we've known her forever. Everything we ordered was delicious. And the punch is a must try!!. She also serves a special dipping sauce that should be bottled and sold. It's sweet with a spicy kick to it and enhances the taste of your fish. If you don't want bones the catfish would be a great choice. If you want some quality soul food I highly recommend Sweet Blessings.... The peach cobbler taste like it was made with love. Fresh peaches and good amount of crust. I'll definitely be back.

We ordered gator and fried chicken meals, and both of them are super good! Especially the gator and fried okra (the side dish) are awesome! If you're an okra lover, it's a must try!!! Definitely will come back next time. P.S. the special hot jelly sauce for fried chicken is soooo delicious.

When I tell you that is the best Soul Food Pl., I’ve been to in a long time me and my honey ended up there by accident we were actually at IHOP waiting to go in but we started reading the reviews and seeing how bad it was and we ran across this place and it looks good in the refute reviews look good so we went there the customer service is wonderful they are so friendly a real power couple people are coming in and out in and out of there they were selling out food if I’m ever in the San Fernando Valley again I will be there

Amazing food!! It's not inexpensive, but the quality and quantity certainly justified the price. The gumbo, fried chicken/fish, salmon cakes & grits, and mac & cheese were our favorites. and the peach cobbler is to die for. Also, everyone working here was super sweet and kind. Highly recommend!!

Deeeeeeelish!!! Was Googling (is that a word lol) best places to eat in Van Nuys and THIS was Top 10. Came to get dinner before getting on the road back to Fresno and soooo glad we did!!! I ordered the Cluck and Surf. The chicken breast, wing, and catfish were huge. It is bigger than what I'm accustomed to. Well seasoned and crispy. The mac & cheese was perfect and well as the rice. The jalapeno jelly and corn muffin set it off. Everything had a unique taste. I will be back.

I ordered at the last minute. Glad I did, food tasted fresh. Coleslaw was bomb. Im a big coleslaw fan so I was surprised with their recipe tasted fresh and healthy. I ordered the shrimp basket ; the shrimp were seasoned well. Fries were too. Not too salty. Overall very satisfying. Finally had the mango and peach cobbler. Stayed very warm till i finished my meal so it sealed the deal. I will definitely order from here again. Glad that Burbank/ NoHo finally has good food.

Absolutely delicious food and the service was great. Ordered one of everything on the menu since there was a group of us eating and everything was delicious. The fresh made huckleberry sauce for the chicken was amazing! Had a nice spicy kick to it which made the chicken like no other. Will definitely come again when in that area.

Good food! We ordered two plates- one chicken and one chicken with fish. Portions are good sized . The food wasn't greasy at all. Nice seasoning. Then they give you this jalapeno jelly that you can dip chix or fish in, quite tasty. Prices are fair. I can't add any pics bc we ate it all!

We just finished eating our takeout and it was SO GOOD that I had to write a review! We ordered the 2pc fried chicken platter, chicken & waffles, and got mac & cheese and okra for a side. Everything was seasoned well and had an interesting kick to it which was an extra bonus! Definitely get the mac & cheese as a side and try the pepper jelly with the chicken, but I don't think you'd go wrong with anything here

LLLOOOOVVVEEE this place. Food is always great and that peach cobbler omg gotta have it. The fried chicken is always juicy and that crack pepper jelly (not really crack but is addicting lol) pairs so well with the chicken. OMG and the Mac and cheese DROOLLIING. If you’re in The Valley you have to try this place if you want a home cooked meal. The menu changes daily which is great because it’s just like home you don’t always have the same thing but there are a few regulars.

I heard about Sweet Blessings on a Be Localish segment on the news. It's not easy finding good southern style comfort food in L.A. When I finally stopped by this weekend. I was greeted very nicely. Upon reviewing the menu, I couldn't make up my mind. Everything sounded so good. I asked for a recommendation as it was my first time. A very nice man who worked there advised I could get a salmon/crab cake a la carte and definitely try the gumbo. So that's what I ordered. And I absolutely had to try the peach/ mango cobbler. Let me just say that everyone at the restaurant was so nice. I did not wait too long for my order. When I got home and took my food out, it smelled great! It also tasted Great! The gumbo was so well seasoned. It did not have any unnecessary bell peppers which I was so happy about. It was probably the best gumbo I've had in the city. The salmon/ crab cake was delicious and cooked perfectly. It had very nice grilled flavor and was a good size portion. It did not come with a sauce, but after the first bite, You don't need a sauce. It stands on it's own. The cobbler was so yummy. Not too bready or too sweet. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. Made with care. As it should be. The Blessing is, I finally made it over there. I will Absolutely go back. I cannot wait to try more items on the menu. I'm so happy I stopped in and I'm so glad that nice man helped me choose what to order. Happy happy Belly! After having seen this place advertised on our local news station, we added it to our "must try" list. We drove almost an hour (one way) to try this place out, and we were not disappointed! The chicken is juicy, perfectly seasoned, and extra crunchy. The mac and cheese, and the brussel sprouts were amazing. This is a must try!! You will not be disappointed! Sweet blessings is truly a blessing. I've been going to sweet blessings since there first location in van nuys; and when it was there it was difficult to find but we'll worth the detective work. On Fridays it's seafood oriented; and the shrimp n grits and the gumbo Mac are amazing, I now reside in the IE; and I made the trek. Hands down the best soul food on the west coast. Momma, the rons, and smiley (I know I missed some people, I apologise) make everything delicious. Don't believe me, prove me wrong, you will get the itus and keep going back

Great soul food kitchen w/homey vibes and delicious food! Since, everything's cooked from scratch I advise you order ahead of time, unless you don't mind waiting and socializing a bit. The owners are very friendly and polite. It's also a great place to check out local artists' work and display your own as well. If you're an artist and wish to display/sell your own, they encourage you to do so without charging a single cent. Sweet people and kitchen for sure👍

YOU MUST DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO. There is no sweeter business to support. They are like 3 months at this location and Kat and Ron are THE nicest. OK now down to the food. The menu changes daily with the exception of I believe the chkn, fish and mac n cha. But whatever is on the menu will be delicious. The food is cooked to order so dont come up into Sweet Blessings and start rushing and being impatient with no one. Sit and have some kool-aid and read a dam book. I ordered the 3 piece dark meat fried chicken combo to go with mac & cheese and fried brussels sprouts. (total $14.51) WOW! Absolutely everything was spot on. Mac & Cheese was perfectly cheesy, and not overly drenched in sauce. You can see and taste the fried chicken had plenty of seasoning in every bite. The brussels surprised me with how subtle and sweet they can be from the south. Portions were perfectly filling and you can tell everything was made with special care. Will be returning for more daily specials.

I recently relocated to the Los Angeles area from Atlanta and I must say I had an extremely difficult time finding truly good, authentic, soul food. My nephew stumbled upon Sweet Blessings and turned me on to it and I am hooked. I've visited three times in the past month and have never been disappointed. No matter the selection, you can not go wrong! Love at first bite.
