Cool place with great service. Server helped my wife choose an option that met with her dietary restrictions. The fish was very fresh and dessert of strawberries and peach crisp is tasty. They also make a house made sorbet which my wife was able to enjoy.

Hello Cristopher Polidoro, on 6/13/24 I dined at Doro with a 6PM reservation. We are sadden by the treatment of your restaurant that night. The hostess came to pick up my appetizer plate and knocked over an entire glass of wine onto my lap. As I fully understand mistakes happen and I forgive that it’s what happened next that I find it hard to not leave a review. As I was soaked in wine and my dress completely ruined, it baffles me that your staff charged us for the glass of wine that they spilled on me. They brought out two new glasses of wine and we asked for our food to go and explained it was because I was soaked and needed to leave. Let’s be realistic i should not have to sit there drench in sticky wine and be uncomfortable. We were provided a check that asked us to pay for the wine your hostess spilled on me and for the two wines they brought afterwards that we did not drink. When I asked for a manager I was told “there is no manager on site”. This was not only embarrassing to have to walk out wet, we had to pay for our mistreatment. This is not a hospitable place to dine.

I had been eyeing this place ever since we moved to Mayport and started frequenting Neptune Plaza. The right night to try out this place finally came along and I was thoroughly disappointed with the quality of the dishes when compared to other restaurants right next door to this one. While the protein with each dish was cooked quite well the rest of the dish did follow suite. I ordered the scallops which were cooked to perfection but were very bland and served with a very vinegary bland cole slaw sort of topping and very unripe raw peach cubes. My husband ordered the farrow dish which was essentially a bowl of plain brown rice with plain steamed tomatoes and bell peppers. Very unimpressive. The desserts were decent and the pork schitnzel appetizer was delicious along with the grilled octopus besides the bland cubed tomatoes they serve as a topping for whatever reason. The steak my grandmother ordered was the best seasoned protein at the table however the green beans that came with it were very bland and the sweet potatoes she ordered on the side were overcooked and dry. The service was amazing however the place is cramped and the clientele is not very considerate and completely unaware of others in the restaurant trying to enjoy a nice meal. This place has some potential but has a lot of learning to do and the food is very unimpressive when considering the price.

Doro was one of our favorite dining experiences before my celiac diagnosis and this was the first time we’d been back since then. We thought about calling ahead to ask about gluten free but decided to roll the dice - only because we knew how fresh and custom everything they make would be. We sat at the chef’s counter and again had just as an amazing experience as we always have. We told our waitress about the celiac disease and she said “not a problem - our menu is probably 80% gluten free anyways and most anything (except the pork schnitzel) can be modified.” She was right. All 3 apps were as is and amazing and the soup was gluten free (although not our favorite). When the meals are this well thought through, and I have more than one item I could easily choose, I prefer to pick the one that has to be modified the least (hopefully, in this case, not at all). That way you’re not messing with the chefs creation and enjoying it as intended. I always highly recommend Doro as an elite dining experience. Prices of eating out are crazy but the value of what you get, the thoughtful presentation, great flavor combinations and relaxing environment makes it well worth it.

Went for a closed event and the food was absolutely amazing. 10/10. I got the short ribs (puree was out of this world) and my husband the rib eye (crust was perfection). Indescribable🤌 (Side note: read the 1 star reviews - they are silly and should be not deter you. If you have to opportunity to dine here, do it, it's worth the wait).

My first time here. I've heard great things and was excited to try it. We had appetizers and the pork schnitzel was delicious. I did not enjoy their buratta. I had the market fish of the day which was Tile fish with vegetable and arugula puree. I thought the fish was dry and a bit bland and the arugula puree was strong and overwhelming. My dinner companions loved their snapper and chicken dish. The 5 star portion of the whole meal are the desserts. The homemade ice cream was delicious. So were the dark chocolate pot de creme. Amazingly delicious desserts! The dinners are pricey, the place is small and cramp, our service was really good, and the food ranged from bland to delicious. Because of the location, price, and the hit or miss of the food, I'm not sure I would recommend it. If I'm in the area, I'd love to go back and have the homemade ice cream again. That stood out for everyone in my dinner party.

this is one of my top resturant picks. Owner Chris is a fantastic chef. Excellent wine selection. small intimate boutique place. it gets booked up. if it’s full check the seats at bar, that actually my fav place to sit and watch the action in the kitchen.

As someone with a rather basic palate, venturing into Doro for my birthday was a leap into the unknown. Looking at the menu, I honestly didn't expect to find anything that would appeal to my usual tastes. However, to my delightful surprise, each dish turned out to be a revelation, and even the short ribs, which I expected to like, surpassed all expectations. The cheese burrata, pork schnitzel, yellowtail sashimi, and Spinach Ohitashi Salad were unlike anything I'd typically choose, and yet, they completely won me over with their incredible flavors. The short ribs, with carrot puree and tamari bbq, were not just enjoyable but truly exceptional. The roasted potatoes, a seemingly simple side, added a comforting touch. Chef Chris's culinary artistry not only exceeded my expectations but opened my eyes to a whole new world of culinary delights. His skillful creations, paired with the staff's attentiveness and the inviting ambiance, made this birthday celebration truly special. To top it off, they surprised me with a delightful dessert, making me feel incredibly special on my birthday. This experience proved that stepping out of my comfort zone was the best decision, and I couldn't have asked for a better celebration.

Intimate dining room environment with a friendly hostess and serving team. Great options on the menu here, including a solid wine list. The Charred Octopus was fantastic. The Burrata salad was a hit. The Short Rib and Ribeye were excellent entrees, well prepared, the short rib was perfectly prepared with a crispy exterior and the carrot puree was outstanding. Great place for a quiet dinner.

We went in for my daughter’s birthday and we were so pleasantly surprised. Every appetizer and every dish we had was absolutely delicious. The service was great! And they were also able to accommodate my gluten allergies which was a huge plus. Highly recommend this spot! 👍

Freshest , Bestest Food along the beach ! I This is why I look forward to work near Atlantic Beach. Absolutely Amazing Mix of Citrus and refreshing blends for the yellowtail or schnitzel appetizer. Order the Romaine salad with soft boiled egg and zesty dressing. Short Ribs or Scallops/Snapper. Everything on the menu is cooked to perfection.

Unfortunately cannot give a full opinion on the restaurant as we did not manage to have dinner there! Made a reservation for 6 and the only available time was 7:45 (we would have preferred a little later but there wasn’t availability). So we rush to be there in time but table is not available yet. They tell us it would probably be 15’ of wait. We let them know we have a special need daughter and that therefore waiting is an issue. Apparently they did not care much as after 35’ of waiting I enter the restaurant again saying that if we do not get the table in 5’ we would leave and, without many excuses I was told there might be additional 10’ and that “is up to you” to decide to wait longer or not. At that point we obviously left. Definitely not an acceptable behaviour. Keep it in mind if you plan to book there!

Best dinner I’ve had in Jacksonville! From appetizers (burrata), to main (snapper), to dessert (chocolate mousse) everything was perfect. And, let me add, as an italian, finally (!!!!) I had a very good espresso in the US. Amazing service and very nice staff! 5 stars no doubts.

Great food! The food was very good and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. There's a small dining area so I would recommend reservations.

Sat at the bar last night. Food and service was excellent, and Siu who was working up front was great. Watching them plate up the meals in the front was mesmerizing, the plating was so skillful and also consistent. The highlight of the meal was the peach and strawberry sorbet, which was surprising to me because normally even a good sorbet is just ok, but this one was divine. The only downside was that every single dish was pretty salty (aside from the sorbet of course). And I'm a person who tends to oversalt food for other people's pallets, so if it's too salty for me I know other guests would definitely feel that way, so I wanted to share. Specifically the tuille with the burrata was oversalted, but in the other dishes (scallops and fresh catch) it was kind of across the board. Despite that small detail, the food was still really excellent and we really enjoyed chatting with Siu and the other person who's name we unfortunately didn't get (she was wearing a black shirt and said she was a bartender). The staff being so cool and also skillful and getting to watch service from the bar is really what makes the experience so special. Thanks for the awesome dinner Doro crew!

I have a new favorite restaurant in Jax! The burrata is a must and that was the best duck breast I have ever had. Our server was able to recommend a fantastic wine to pair with our entrees too!

Another spectacular experience! I usually drool for the crispy short ribs but stepped out of my box this time and started with the utterly perfect schnitzel, followed by gorgeous monkfish. Is it possible the food and vibe here keep getting better? Seems so!

We went last weekend with friends, and it was such a lovely atmosphere, wonderful staff and the food was impeccable. It will be our new go to spot.

Doro is my favorite place to get a really good meal food is always delicious. Chef Chris really knows what he's doing.

Nice ambience, with simple upscale design that doesn't distract you from the people you are eating with. The noise level, even when full, is pleasantly not too loud. The bar area, especially if you're having a light meal, is excellent but you have to time it while to get a seat. Looking at the spotless kitchen from a barstool is entertaining. The owner is earnest, pleasant and usually present. Salads are excellent and surprisingly flavorful. Even our carnivore friends appreciated them as much as or more than their main course. The fish was good although the instructions to serve it almost raw were not followed on a not too busy Thursday night. Wireless is OK albeit rather pricey and menu prices are also definitely on the high side four of us with four mains and four glasses of wine walked out with a $250 bill.

Yikes....food over salted. 30min wait for an entrée and additional 10mins for a side of basic oven baked potatoes....definitely need to work on timing, it wasn't even busy....basically a waste of 92 bucks. Our server was very nice though. Flavor had the creativity of a color by number coloring book for kids

This establishment is a fantastic dining experience! I started with a well-seasoned pork schnitzel that was paired with shaved vegetables in a tangy vinaigrette dressing. This was followed by a wonderfully surprising pistachio soup. I had never experienced this flavor profile in a soup before, and I throughly enjoyed the rustic flavor! My main course was a tender seared tuna on a bed of corn-and-pea succotash with a crisp ohitashi (spinach soaked in a savory broth). For dessert, I had a wonderfully tart key lime pana cotta with crunchy granola and a sweet blueberry reduction. The entire meal was superb, the service was exquisite, and the decor was clean and inviting. I highly recommend Restaurant Doro!

Chef Chris is amazing! Detail oriented not only with flavor and preparation but the visual aspect of each dish is above reproach. By far the only fine dining in Northeast Florida. There’s not even a close second. If you don’t think so you’d probably eat at Carrabas.

We sadly had to wait over an hour for food. But the Food was so amazing!!!! Could not complain about any of the food was sooo tasty and beautiful...and the pickles as appetizers was so delicious. But then the atmosphere was too crowded, they should separate the tables more or make outside tables, had to yell. And overall the food was way to expensive. 1 payed for myself just the main course and one side, no appetizer for over 40$.

Cute, cozy, modern restaurant in Neptune Beach that has a fabulous wine selection and food! Our service was wonderful! We had the octopus, Jonah crab salad, catch of the day (grouper), chicken, key lime panna cotta and pot de creme! Everything very nicely done. Great date night spot!

My husband and I had a date night last night. We wanted to try something new and he surprised me with finding Doro. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s up in Neptune Beach but totally worth the drive. Not a family restaurant. No kid menu and a bit pricey. Very quaint and serene atmosphere. Must have a reservation as there are very limited tables. My husband ordered the Red Snapper and I don’t eat seafood but this was amazing! Very flavorable, tender and cooked to perfection. I ordered the chicken dijonaise with apricot purée. When I tell you that it was the best bite of chicken I ever had, I mean it. I told my husband that I was never cooking chicken again. Anyway, if you want to have a fun night out with your mate, and don’t mind the drive (worth every penny to us), check it out.

A small restaurant in Atlantic Beach that serves amazing dishes from a very talented chef. The arugala and grapefruit salad is delicious. The crispy short ribs are the best in town. Take it from one who tries this dish in any restaurant that offers it. The wine list is extensive and they will give you a sample if you're not sure. The staff knows the menu and the wine list. They are some of the best servers around! Make reservations because seating is limited. Definitely worth the trip to the beach!

I’m giving it 3 starts because the food was marvelous. Beware if you’re not on the demographic they usually serve, if you’re not white and look wealthy they’re gonna treat you like a second class citizen. I made a reservation in December for February and it was confirmed twice, once on the same day. We arrived 5 minutes earlier and we’re told that our table was “almost ready” and we were welcome to STAND outside the restrooms, total VIP treatment. The people in our table (white, obviously as everyone else in the restaurant) we’re in no hurry to leave and the waitress wouldnt say anything. After TWENTY MINUTES waiting, standing by the restrooms, we were told we could sit at the bar while the table was ready. We were not offered a drink or anything while we waited for our RESERVED table and what was supposed to be a romantic evening ended up being a very upsetting night. Never going back and telling everyone I know to not go here. We were mistreated and disrespected. So disappointing.

My wife took me to Restaurant Doro for my birthday. It was a cute bistro located at 1st Street in Neptune Beach. Definitely unique and delicious cuisine. We started off with a complimentary pickled cucumber and ordered a couple of apps. Appetizers * Charred Octopus with olives, haricot vert, tomato, potatoes, aioli. Tender and slightly smoky taste. *Ahi Tuna Tartare with peaches, tomatoes, and citrus dressing. The plating reminded me of a wreath, delicious edible wreath. Main Entrees *Crispy Short Ribs with carrot purée, pickled napa slaw, and tamari bbq. Crispy on the outside tender on the inside. *Roast Lamb Loin with sweet corn, heirloom tomatoes, and bordelaise sauce. Everything in the plate went well together. Food was so good, we cleaned our plates. Our server wished me a Happy Birthday, but I wished they would have given me a little dessert to cap off our dinner. I was waiting for it. Lol. Great dinner and service none-the-less.

I highly recommend the lamb loin, ahi tuna tartare and let's not forget the delicious dessert. Thank you for making dinner a DELICIOUS experience! I will be back!

The food, service and atmosphere is wonderful. The ribeye was amazing and very flavorful. The desert of custom ice cream and chocolate syrup was tasty. I will definitely be back on my next on my next visit.

Really good and less expensive than anticipated.

It’s delicious. Very small space and when it gets busy it can be loud but the food is so good. A little pricy and the portions aren’t huge but it’s just a superior preparation than you get at most restaurants in the area. My favorite is the short ribs, my husband loves the octopus appetizer and the lamb or duck entrees. We go here a few times a year and have yet to be disappointed. A must try! Don’t forget to get the homemade ice cream.

Phenomenal, great quality, superb, excellent dining experience. Every single item on the menu has its own unique flavors. Servers are super chill and friendly. I brought my son in and he requested bacon, which they do not have. Moments later the chef comes to our table with pork belly strips to accommodate my child. Can’t say the same about other high end restaurants. He was happy while we enjoyed a bottle of wine and delicious food. Every single person I have recommended, has been hooked on this place. Get your reservations in ASAP and enjoy !

Stumbled onto this place when we were out walking town. Wonderful dishes, wine selection, and outstanding service! We enjoyed the pistachio soup and schnitzel to start and then had a wonderful main courses of short ribs and snapper. The wine recommendations were great and our server was very personable.

Wow! Where do we begin… The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, small and intimate just like we like… ALL of the employees greeted us with smiles and superior customer service. The food was better than anything that we have had in years! Fresh, made to order, perfect pairings! I’ve never had fish cooked so wonderfully… The scallops melted in our mouths! And that tuna appetizer…oh. My. Don’t miss it! Besides all of that, Sunday happens to include a soundtrack seemingly just for us… Spotify’s rollerskating playlist. Doro may just be our new Sunday date night spot forever! Thank you So much to Michelle and the rest of the staff for making us feel like the only people on earth! What a beautiful experience.

Doro's is amazing you guys! If you haven't been, you definitely should try it! It is a lovely, small restaurant which only adds to its charm. It is great inside. Make sure you make a reservation. The last one is at 9 pm but they will not rush you or make you feel hurried to order or eat. Everyone is very kind and the food is simply outstanding! My husband and I have been twice and will definitely go more and work our way through the menu. 1st course burrata/tomato dish is the best I have ever had anywhere, as well as the king crab dish (will have you wanting a 2nd order). 2nd course short rib dish is fantastic (we ordered this both of our visits because it was so tasty), the scallops will just melt in your mouth, and the other dish we had on our 2nd visit was a special tile fish dish that tasted just like you think autumn would taste with white peas and pumpkin puree. These guys make their own sorbets (passionfruit was what we had) & ice creams (1 scoop pistachio & 1 scoop vanilla...sorry no photo for this) and we have tried both and it always makes me wish I could take pints of it home. We get 1 dessert each because as I said, its so delicious you don't want to miss out...which means we also have had the key lime panna cotta (sorry no photo for this one) and the chocolate pot de creme. Not sure why we didn't take pics of the dessert from our 2nd visit, but they were just as tasty. Writing this makes me ready to return.

This place!!!! This is my second review, I've been here many times. I come from a long line of restaurant people and this is by far is some of the best food I've had in the world. Every bite is a flavor explosion party in your mouth lol. Wonderful ambience, lovely staff. Chef, you could beat Bobby Flay all day!

Would not go here again. The food was good but the service is not. The restaurant was half empty. I asked for a table by the window. They said social distancing and said I had to sit at the bar. Within 15 minutes they filled the tables. The same table I asked for. So much for social distancing. Horrible service. The food isn't worth it.

Had dinner here one weekday night with no reservations, granted it was just opening up post COVID closure, the wait was 20minutes. The food was delicious, probably the best in all of Jacksonville. I like that it was minimal, no unnecessary carbs, and the culinary skills were executed well. Wine menu game superb. Desert was perfect, not too sweet, just the right amount of sugar. Will definitely come back to try the other dishes out. It would be great if one new seasonal dish was added to the usual menu (just to throw in an awesome curveball), I bet every Doro fan would get a kick out of it. Overall Awesome place, great food.

We had an absolutely amazing dinner tonight. The service and food was impeccable and one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. The flavors were fresh and interesting but absolutely everything was cooked to perfection. A definite must if you are anywhere near!

We started with a bottle of the well-rated Justin Justification red blend chosen from the reasonable wine list. We then ordered two first courses - Asian pear and blood orange salad and kale and beets with goat cheese salad. Both were creative and excellent! My fiancé ordered the lamb entree’ and I had the grilled snapper. Both were terrific. The lamb may have had a bit too much salt on top. We also shared a dessert - warm brioche, homemade orange marmalade and whipped cream. It was simple and good! Service was top notch.

Food was outstanding. The staff was very friendly and inviting. Valet parking comes with the meal....added bonus. Only issue I had is the servers and the way they carry the meals. Their finger hover on the inner rim of the dishes. Need to get better method and training on that.

Amazing little spot in Neptune Beach. Definitely grab a seat at the bar, order a bottle of wine, and enjoy. The burrata, short ribs, and pistachio ice cream were the stars of the show.

I was so excited to try this restaurant out. started with the beet and goat cheese and I must say it was one of the most well balanced appetizers I've ever had. The tuna tartar on the other hand had a very offputting fishy taste I only had a bite. (We've eaten fish around the world and I've never felt this way about eating tartar). I ordered a side of yams and when my food was brought out the yams were missing. They then rushed it out with several burned wedges when I was at the end of my meal. The two main courses were pretty good however my expectations were high and I was excited but somehow left dissatisfied. I have seen raving reviews about this place only wish I experienced the same as others. **Would have taken pictures but it was date night and we dont bring our phones inside to dinner.

This is the type place that almost makes me almost want to start dating again... Just to have some lady to show this place off to. But sadly, it is also the type place that will lead to my demise. I will no longer cook, or eat many other meals. I will eat here every night until I have to sell everything I own to support my new habit. Eventually this incredible food and service will lead to my destruction..... thanks. this is how I always hoped I would go. This was the most perfect meal I have had since moving to Jacksonville.
