Great food and staff!! Miguel and Maria are the best!

All the employees are friendly and kind!

Never disappointed. I now live out of state, I miss going to El Maguey, I'm so happy they hadn't changed. The food was yummy. Service great, the decor was colorful and clean. Yeah.. it was great to visit. Wish They would consider opening this same store in Sarasota Florida, oh that would be awesome!!

Steak with shrimp was good. Good amount of salt.

Love the colorful decor. The food is good too, and the margaritas are very tasty and prices are typical Mexican restaurant prices. Have been here a few times and always happy with my selection.

Used to come here all the time. The last few times we've somehow gotten the same server, and he is ruder and ruder each time. This is our last visit.

Let me start with I typically like this place, but today was something else. This is the saddest excuse for a margherita I've ever had. I swear there isn't even alcohol in this drink. The waiter claiming it's normal is concerning as they clearly left something out; this drink has zero flavor. I've had many margaritas here before without issues, so clearly something is wrong, yet here we are. I don't appreciate being told that this how the margherita is supposed to taste. You clearly don't know because you haven't tried my drink. Using the hot weather is not an excuse either as it tasted watered down nothingness the second it was brought to me. The food is always excellent as usual.

Only gave 3 stars on food because of the margaritas. Ordered a top shelf margarita and tasted like a regular one. Don't know if it is the sour mix they use, but didn't taste great. We've been to most Mexican restaurants around St Louis and have had many top shelf and specialty margaritas. This was was at the bottom of the list. The fajitas and queso with beef though were excellent.

Everything was pretty copy and paste, nothing to brag about. Average at best.

Celebrated Father's Day with family. We intended on a steak restaurant but had a 2 hour wait. We did not wait for a table 10

Ordered online Grubhub delivery, beans, guacamole, sauce tasted bad, 9 chicken tacos dry, rice good, chips broken badly and sauce very watery( thick it was frozen the defrosted). When I eat in the restaurant it is very delicious, especially beans and tacos. Very disappointed and expensive for bad food.

Nice inside and the staff was awesome and good was great! Definitely one of the better locations for El Maguey.

I didn't dine in but from what I could see the vibe inside the establishment was doing g all it needed to do. All you could hear was pleasant chatter and soft giggles. The food was awesome even for to-go orders. I will be back!!

Waited at a table for ten minutes while the customer who was seated after us got waited on and no waiter approached us so we left and will not return.

We enjoyed a great evening at El Maguey, taking advantage of their pleasant outdoor seating. I opted for the combination meal and complemented it with a margarita, both of which were delicious. While I didn't catch the server's name, the service she provided was truly outstanding. El Maguey offers a well-rounded dining experience that left us thoroughly satisfied.

Margarita was all ice and 2 sips.

Great food, service and atmosphere. Starting with salsa, rice and beans. If you can’t do that right it’s not worth eating there. Theirs - TOP NOTCH. Had the steak enchiladas. Not shredded beef or ground beef but STEAK! You don’t find that a lot but they were great here! Definitely recommend!

My 2nd time going and just like last time the food was delicious, the service was kind and helpful and thr prices aren't bad. We went for my son's birthday and left full and happy. The frozen margaritas are delicious!!

Food and service was great..not rushed at all..

The tocos were top notch. The sever there was amazing and Victoria was super nice. The chips and salsa had the perfect amount of flavor in them. They were to die for.

Our food was delivered so fast! And the Blue Margaritas are dangerously good! I highly recommend the fajitas alambre too! I was highly impressed with the friendly service and portion sizes. The house salsa is pleasantly spicey!

Sat in by the bar at a table. There was food and dirty dishes and glasses and used napkins. The customer had left and the mess sat there for over an hour. They were not busy in the bar area at 3:30. Just really bothered me.

I have been many times in the past. I had the steak burrito. I thought it would have some refried beans in it. It only had rice. Maybe it was my mistake. I will be back, I probably should have taken more time with the menu.

I only get take out there. Food is fairly good. I cannot really say about the atmosphere as I just go pick up.

The food was poorly prepared, and tasteless. I like the food better at the El Maguey in Manchester.

Antonio was our server and he was working his tail off. Food was fast and delicious. If you are looking for tex mex style delicious food this is the place.

Delicious authentic Mexican food. Our waiter was exceptional, the atmosphere was very friendly and the decor was on point! Too bad we live in Alabama otherwise I’d be there every week!! Highly recommend!

They let the 6 of us post up here for several hours while we had a small Christmas gift exchange and ate food and drank margaritas. Our waiter was mega friendly and kept the water and margs full. Salsa isn’t super chunky, which I prefer, but there was a very strong onion taste to it. Chips are a bit on the crunchy side but not bad. I ordered the huevos con chorizo and devoured it!

This is one of the best places to grab a plate that will be delicious and reasonably priced. I've loved everything I've ever ordered here and we go fairly often as a date night destination. But you don't have to take my word for it, check it out yourself. (They are really good about handling your special requests. I'm lactose intolerant and have never had an issue requesting no dairy. )

It's a little pricey, but the food is good.

We were seated immediately when we arrived!! The tacos are bland, no seasonings, only lettuce/cheese toppings other toppings are $1.50+ each, which I thgt cilantro was part of authentic, I got pico & I tried top shelf 🍓 margarita (get main liquor on side) which was liquidity vs more frozen...but good 👍🏾! Chicken soup was really delicious, I got the one w/out veggies. Service was great, it was pretty busy. Personally I didn't like the chips, too thick for me & salsa was ok, but too thin. This was my 1st time at my neighborhood El Maguey, instead of traveling across town!!

I am from out of town (East Pennsylvania). We came with my Nephew and his family- 10 of us at one table. Our waiter was terrific! The restaurant was fairly full but we only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated at one long table. We ordered and our food came out a lot quicker I had expected. My meal was hot and made with excellence. Our drinks were kept full as well as the tortilla chips and salsa. There were other employees that helped out to keep our big group experience a good time. If I lived in the area I'd make this a regular place for dinner.

So far this is the best economical Mexican food place here. The service is great too!

The place looked vibrant. The service crew upbeat and helpful. The food came fast. We ordered the el maguey fajita for two. It had beef, shrimp, sausage and chicken. It was huge and soooo delicious! It was more texmex than authentic mexican but yummy just the same. We will definitely come back. Highly recommended.

My best friend and I used to go to this restaurant several times a week when it first opened in the early 90s. I’ve since moved away but I love this place. Amazing affordable food and friendly service. I was feeling nostalgic so I googled it and am glad it’s still here and thriving. I’ve never eaten chili Colorado better than theirs. Thanks for the memories.

By FAR the BEST El Maguey location in the greater St. Louis area. The food is fresh and made to order (no need to worry about nasty rice and beans made days ago). The chips are always warm and the salsa lightly chilled, just the way I like! The staff is phenomenal and there is always someone walking around to help if you need something. The food comes out quickly after ordering, so don't worry about filling up on chips and salsa because your meal takes forever to come to the table. 😂 Definitely recommend this location if you're up for Mexican food, you won't be disappointed!

An unwavering bastion of tasty Mexican food for over two decades. It is nice to see restaurants go through renovations and innovations and still provide good food and service. Introduced me to tacos outside of Taco Bell as high schooler - it seems small and silly but these small things can start a love for food and interest in cultures you didn’t expect. Chips and salsa are always a plus :)

I got the steak fajitas and it was tender and delicious. The meat could use more seasoning so I asked for limes and it made a big difference. Surprisingly the bell peppers were still a little crunchy is how I like them. The fajitas meat was cut into very small pieces and I had to work at it to find all of the pieces (please don’t do this in the future). We were greeted nicely when we walked in and was immediately taken to a booth. We had an amazing waiter, Cirilo. He was on top of things through the whole service plus he has a friendly personality and a good sense of humor. The restaurant has an outdoor patio which was full plus a full bar and a colorful indoor dining area. The restaurant is in a strip mall so there’s plenty of parking. If you haven’t been, I’d give them a try.

When we arrived, they weren't that packed, and we were seated right away. The patio was open, but we chose to sit inside due to the heat. There were complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa tastes peppery to me, and I didn't care for it. Everyone was really kind and the environment was quite welcoming. The service was quite fast. The meal was tasty, albeit I didn't care for the beef burrito. While we were eating, I placed a to-go order, and once again, the speed of service did not disappoint. My to-go meal was also accompanied by complimentary chips and salsa. This was my first visit to this establishment, and I would definitely return in the future.

I was also there the night the fire alarm went off. It was blaring the entire time (we had just gotten our food) and the staff didn’t bother acknowledging that it was even happening. Service was slow. I tried to address that it was a poor experience to an employee, who then told the manager/ bartender, who decided to loudly make fun of my complaints to her regulars at the bar. Awful experience.

We had a few hours to kill in between a wedding and the reception, so my hubby and I looked at each other and said "Margaritas!!!" We had frozen Margaritas, his lime and mine strawberry. The strawberry was delicious and sweet, not just rum, which is really unusualfl for a Mexican restaurant. Super nachos were delicious as well. You def have to try if nearby. Also found my new saying on their shirts. Too funny!! MARGARITAS MADE ME DO IT!

Had chips and margarita to start off then had their fajita mix for 2 which has steak, chicken and shrimp with all the fixins. Great food. Server was little slow but not too bad. Still recommend this place fro great Mex food. Updated 04/26/23 Had the fajita mix for 2 again and it was great. Had good service too and they serve the food to you pretty quickly. Highly recommend this place.

I have nothing bad to say about this restaurant. The service was prompt, and accurate, and the food was outstanding. My wife got the Baja tacos and they were fire, I got the fajitas volcan and it was very very good! Wonderful experience!

This is always our special spot. Reservations are hard to come by but well worth the wait. Food and service are truly amazing.

This place was great! A coworker recommended it for lunch, we went in, got seated right away, served chips and salsa while we looked over the menu. The waiter was quick to get our drink order and bring them out. We placed our order and it was out quickly as well. The amount of food for the cost is good. Our experience for lunch was a 5/5 and i would highly recommend.

Good place for a good Mexican meal but they have gotten expensive with $12 shrimp and $10 margaritas.... almost have to go on certain days to get want you want!
