Jordan is a friendly and personable guy. This place is off the beaten path but work the drive for the beers and the view of The Dan.

It was my first time here, and it was beautiful inside and out. Bartender was great she talked about each drink we got and the food was ok but the view took the cake.

This was my family and I had been to this place. The bartender was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. She also was able to provide suggestions and taste testing. So you were for sure to get a beverage that you enjoyed. Would definitely go back again.

It's a watering hole. Would have liked some bar food or snacks. The server was excellent, great customer service. Nice view of the Dan River. We were on two wheels. I don't like dirt roads on a motorcycle and won't drink and ride. It just wasn't for us.

After a long day of hiking, the green heron ale house is where to go!! Sit and relax next to the river and drink a nice cold beer. The staff was really nice and let me sample each beer to make sure I knew exactly what I wanted! Peaceful atmosphere, shady under the trees, cool after a hot day. Definitely recommend this place next-door there’s a tubing center if you would like to sign up for an extra adventure down the river.

This place is a hidden little gem! Great selection of beers, friendly staff and it's on the river. You can sit on the covered porch and watch people go down the Dan River or follow the path down to the water and sit on the rocks and sand and dip your feet in while you drink. I'll take this little place to spend a day over any other brewery around!

Not my kinda spot only because we don't drink but good for a river spot and if you like wine and brews

Omg! What a gem off beaten path. We enjoyed a lovely fall hike at hanging rock and followed signs to this place. This place has super friendly service, ice cold beer and unbeatable views. Loads of dogs and friendly dog loving people. Can't wait to go back. .

The Green Herron is one of our favorite spots. They have a great selection of brews, and the live music is always entertaining, while the crowd is always fun with whichto share the experience.

We visited Green Heron Ale House one evening while camping at Hanging Rock. Alcohol is prohibited in the park, but we wanted some drinks after hiking all day. They don't serve food (so dogs are allowed inside), so we got a pizza to go and ate it here. They have a nice selection of beer and wine and the bartender was really friendly and very sweet to our dog. This is a great spot to get a drink after visiting Hanging Rock or paddling the Dan River as the Dan River Company is located just outside.

This place is mainly a start/end point for rafting trips on the Dan river. Shuttle services and boat rentals are available. They don't serve food but 2 local restaurants deliver. They have a nice selection of beer, wine and hard cider. There is a small balcony overlooking the river. They have plans to expand. The decor is primitive woodsy. I've been there twice recently and was annoyed that there was no place to escape cigarette smoke. They sometimes have decent live music on weekends. Nice hiking trails a little ways down the road.

Great place to unwind after a day of hiking, biking or just hanging out at Hanging Rock State Park. Friendly people & great atmosphere. Can't think of a better place to have a beer & cigar while listening to the sounds of the Dan River.

Quaint place, quality adult beverages on tap, and overall great experience. Long way for us to see friend in the band that was playing (Royal House), but would go again if in area.

Green Heron has a great relaxing atmosphere right on the river with good music played by Paul Douse.

Green Heron is the "Cheers" bar of Stokes County! We've been hoping for a place the the Heron for years... a comfortable, easy-going place to enjoy live local music (folk, bluegrass, rock, Americana, etc), tasty craft beers (with Stone IPA on tap!), and great wines by the glass or bottle for a very reasonable price. It's a great place to meet up with old friends, and to make new ones as well. The smoke-free, softly lit interior has cozy wood walls with seating for about 25 at tables and 5-6 more at the bar. There's a large covered back porch overlooking the Dan River with a half-dozen tables (for outdoorsy folks and for smokers) where you can enjoy the breezes and still hear the music. The owner Dave Hoskins makes sure the weekend music is good and the beer is fresh, and his staff are as attentive as can be. I've never seen or even heard of a drunken fight at the Heron -- it's just not the kind of place where something like that takes place. There's no food cooked onsite, but you can order sandwiches, salads, fish plates, or delicious pizza from "Gerald's Place" in Danbury, just three miles away, and they'll deliver for free with a $20-$25 order. In short, the Heron is a GREAT addition to Danbury, an awesome place to get down with or catch up with old and new friends.

Excellent beers on tap, knowlegeable and conversational barkeep staff, enjoyed the music and fellowship. Great location right on the river, absolutely worth stopping in for a pint or three.
