Love this place and the owners! I've known them for so many years when they used to own the buffet off Juan Tabo near Olive Garden . their food is still amazing and they are still amazing.

An amazing experience with beautiful decor and atmosphere. The food is top shelf and extremely tasty. Always a great time and dining experience.

In store atmosphere is lacking but let's be honest, we all prefer to pickup and eat at home anyways. Food is always fantastic and that's all that matters!

I finally found a Chinese restaurant in Albuquerque that I love their food.

The flavors are perfection everytime we order. Friendly staff and they always remember us when we order. Full size portions and an economical option. We go at least once a week.

We have been going to this family's establishments since they owned the China King Buffet on Juan Tabo and Copper. They now own and operate this yummy restaurant. Anyone missing their buffet!?!?! well you can get it all to go now.

What can I say, happy garden continues to be impressive!! The food is very good and tastes fresh. Flavors and portions are big!! Best Chinese food that I have had in Albuquerque and equal to the best I've ever had. Keep up the good work! Hate to say this but since the new owners took over the food has gone down hill! Service is still excellent!

Had a wonderful experience coming in today with my family. The food was great and the service was amazing. This is a diamond in the rough. I can’t believe in the 10 years I’ve been in this neighborhood that we’ve never been here. So good and we will be coming back again.

A collection of Thomas Kincaid landscapes with traditional Chinese wall art are displayed in the dining room. The order taker was very friendly and helpful. The food was served fast and tasted fresh. It was also quite hot (temperature) with mild seasoning.

Today is Fourth of July and absolutely every restaurant in Albuquerque was closed. This was the only place in the entire city that I could find open. We had a group of 15. I cooked the food efficiently and quickly. I highly recommend them and they did a great job for my family.thank you!

Best Chinese food in Abq east side hands down!

First time trying Happy Garden and it did not disappoint. Ordered the General Tso’s Chicken which also came with a huge side of white rice. Ever since I moved into Albuquerque, I’ve been trying to find the best Chinese food restaurant and tonight this completed my search. Will definitely be back again, 10/10 recommend. The lady that took care of my order was also super sweet too.

Right from the beginning of walking in the restaurant. I wasnt greeted very well, just felt like I regretted going there. Not happy when I left. But thanks for the warm meal

I ordered the sweet and sour pork.I thought it was a mistake, as I have made that dish several times before and what I got was unbelievable. The meat arrived as breaded and fried nuggets with a side sauce that had no flavor. Awful. The Mongolian beef lacked any recognizable flavor. The whole meal, including the tasteless fried rice was a disappointment.

These reviews are confusing. Me & my bf live 3 minutes away from this place. We’ve eaten here probably about 5 times already. And everytime everything is so good. We are takeout people, but they never miss any items. Food is always fresh. I’d recommend the shrimp lo mein with chicken added in. Sooo good. Fried rice, fire. Crab Rangoon’s, also fire. Sweet and sour chicken, u also know was, fire

I got the sweet and sour shrimp… it was horrible! Worst I’ve ever had. It was all breading. The shrimps are so tiny. It was really pathetic and the egg roll tasted like it had been sitting there for hours through most of it in the garbage I do not recommend.

I guess they close the bathrooms in order to keep the homeless savages out there's always somebody to ruin everything for everybody..

Thee food was absolutely terrible I got a combo plate with sweet and sour pork and fried rice. An egg roll and two spring rolls. Everything tasted bad and old and soggy. Save your money don’t eat here.

No table service.. order and pickup at counter..bare bones dining room.. no restrooms.. very good food, generous portions. Reasonable prices.

I don’t know how they stay in business. Had the egg foo young and general tsos chicken. Both dishes were so salty that they were inedible. The gravy for the egg foo young was very thin. Chicken was not at all crispy and very flavorless. We don’t have a dog so 90% of the food went into the garbage

The food is good but this place is designed for takeout. It's not a place to dine in. Restrooms aren't even working.

Really great food they’re always super fast, I also cannot stress enough how delicious the chicken on a stick is. Cheap and tasty and even better left over. Thank u happy garden 🌳 fav Chinese I’ve had in abq. Dine in isn’t an option but the service is fast. I always call ahead.

Happy Garden is our new favorite Chinese food spot! Every time we have ordered, the service is amazing, the orders are ready so quickly, and the food is delicious! We especially appreciate how perfect the lo mein is; we have been looking for a place with lo mein like this.

*edited on 1/13/2024: After the incident on 12/13/2023, I spoke with the wife and her husband on the phone and the husband told me that they would remake the sweet and sour chicken for me the right way and I would not have to pay for it, I was just to tell them at some point in the future when I came in. I went back yesterday to reorder another sweet and sour chicken along with some beef lo mein and egg drop soup. I explained to the woman what I was told on the phone by her husband, I could tell she was absolutely furious with the fact that they would have to be giving away the sweet and sour chicken free of charge. I paid almost $30 for the rest of the food which was noodles and soup, also leaving a tip. I tried to thank her for making it right and she said nothing to me, she wouldn''t even look at me, she didn't smile or tell me thank you for the business like she used to. When I got home my heart sank to see that the sweet and sour chicken was exactly the same as before: all breading with almost no meat in each piece. I will not be going back ever again; the attitude that was given to me was uncalled for, the prices do not reflect the food any longer, they have become like rest of the local Asian fast food restaurants who are price gouging and no longer have high quality food or service. Normally my son and I absolutely love their food and service, we have been coming here for a couple of years now. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice, and egg drop soup on 12/13/2023. More than half of the pieces in that order were supposed to be full sized breaded chicken pieces meant to be dipped, however, there was just breading and no meat! The pieces that did have meat were extremely tiny, like as small as the diced pork in the fried rice which is not ok when you pay for full sized pieces of sweet and sour chicken! Now I know we are all living on harder times but we are paying more money for increased prices and there is no justification for an order of half empty fried breading being passed off as "chicken" not the pieces of meat to be diced sized with motr breading than anything. I'm very disappointed with this particular order. I never thought these folks would do this to our food. It can't even be said it was a minor mistake because this was half of a big box filled with fried breading without any meat, and diced carrot sized pieces of chicken with big glops of breading, that isn't an error, that is deception. They also did not include any soy sauce or other sauces, two thin napkins and only one set of plastic ware when there were two meals ordered. If this happens again we won't be coming back.

My mom, sister and I dropped in tonight. The food was good, fresh and great portions. We were wanting to dine-in. Unfortunately, it seems they moved more towards takeout. They were accommodating and did provide us with paper plates, but it would have been nice to have a more dine-in experience. I hate to include this, but I can't say they are located in the best part of the city. At night, it was a bit scary to leave the restaurant. That's not their fault, but would probably recommend just doing takeout at night.

Has become my go to spot for Chinese food. Service is always great and the food always tastes awesome. Always get great portions of food and it's always a good temperature. This place also restored my faith in wonton soup, which is some of the best I've had in a long time. I look forward to being a repeat customer.

The food is great! I really love the crab rangoons! The people who are in the front are very courteous and friendly. You gotta try the Moo Gai Pan! Yummers.

I'm a regular customer. I drive 30-40 minutes to pick up food. There's a lot of other options available along that drive. I spend $40-60 each visit, at least 2x a month, sometimes more. I always tip 20%+ for take out. They are usually extremely nice until I ask for extra soy sauce packets. Almost every time I've asked for extra soy sauce packets they've acted a bit annoyed but today they just outright refused. They provide three packs for 2 people. The family members I pick this order up for would like at least two packets each. And yes you might say, "Just buy your own soy sauce." I do but the family members I pick this up for insist the packets taste different and better. LOL we all have our things. So I will now order a big box of these soy sauce packets to avoid having to ask for more and to make my family happy. And if it has to be made clear, it's really not about some packets, it's about how they made me feel. I hope it was worth it to them.

Have ordered online from here a number of times and the food has always been great. Today, I made a note about milk and pork allergies on the order. When picking up the order, they confirmed substitutions for the order regarding the noted allergies. A wonderful place to order from!

Ordered chicken curry combo meal, & requested medium spice. I didn’t get any spice, not even mild. The food was tasty, but a curry with no spice doesn’t work.

Happy Garden.... What can I say. Everytime I eat here, it makes me, well, Happy! I have diabetes and their 'Diet' menu is amazing. With a dash of soy sauce and drizzle of the sauce the food would normally be stir fried in I am able to enjoy alongside my family. (Don't get me wrong I still try a little of theirs.) HG has some of the best dumplings and crab rangoon around. The crisp and general giganticness of the rangoon is amazing. I'll say though a little pricey (just in general, not that it's overpriced) the coconut shrimp is a definite must try at least once dish. Their sweet and sour sauce is perfectly made. And all the food is cooked to perfection. My favorite items that I personally recommend would be the, 'chicken on a stick', 'chicken steamed dumplings', 'sesame chicken'. I will definitely be going back. Especially knowing some of the staff from my favorite buffet (China King Super Buffet) that is no longer around, work there now. Thank you for the great attitudes and amazing food Happy Garden.

I got the fried chicken dumplings, and the sweet and sour chicken combo plate. Let me just say, so incredibly delicious! The dumpling sauce was on another level. The sweet and sour sauce just 🤌 fantastic, it was a fruity tarte sort of taste. Dumplings themselves, delicious, chicken, delicious, fried rice, also delicious. They were also very kind to dig me up a paper menu. I'd recommend this place to anyone, and will be back! I ate the chicken dumplings too quick for photos.

I am so hooked on the food. The people that work there are always so nice. I definitely recommend this place.

I used to love this place but lately their fried rice has become very bland. They jumped prices a while back which I understood with inflation but what I won’t put up with is this, yesterday I went and paid the new higher price but I noticed it didn’t have the same “bite” almost like the chicken was too tender. It was almost spongy then every now and again I would get a piece of very very dry tough chicken. So I bit into some pieces and looked inside. There was NO CHICKEN inside. Just sweet fried dough and I guess the tough chicken I was getting were the few chunks of real chicken. I understand inflation but I am NOT paying for fried dough. Especially not for $14!

We have been meaning to try this place for a while and glad we did. The take out combos were awesome.

YUM!!! A friend recommended the place. I went in they have a wide variety on their menu. I ordered egg drop soup, shrimp with garlic sauce, and crab rangoons. While i waited I took notice of how clean the restaurant was and so were their bathrooms. I asked a few questions was happily answered. The staff is friendly. I got my food to go and left. Found a shady spot to park and in 45 minutes my friend and I were full with left overs. I had to call my mom because I did not think I could have a foodgasm eating Chinese food. But that was some really good food. I recommend everyone to visit Happy Garden on Central Avenue just west of Tramway Blvd, in front of Sprouts.

Wow... must have been a bad day. Came into the restaurant for lunch, which was completely empty, stood around for a couple of minutes nobody came to the counter look behind the Corner young lady sitting there on her cell phone she looks up at me doesn't say a word looks back at the phone and totally ignores me. Guess they have too much business.

Absolutely fantastic, real quick service, great food, very nice staff, it's right in the shopping center with sprouts and the movie theater. I would definitely recommend this place! Very nice atmosphere as well.
