Where is the flavor? The cashew chicken had no flavor, the sweet-and-sour chicken had a hint of flavor as if the sweet-and-sour sauce was watered down, and the chicken lo mein was very greasy. Even the fortune cookies were stale🤦🏼‍♂️ I guess if you’re high this food must be great because everyone else must have low standards or something.

I ordered shrimp fried rice. Tasted just like soy sauce and rice,a few onions were in it. Had lots of baby shrimp.but no flavor. Spring rolls had no filling. They were all wrapper.

When we called to order the person who took the order was very rude. When I arrived to pick it up it the person was rude again. She didn't even greet me when I said hello. Our food wasn't ready, and I believe it wasn't even started. Had to wait about 20 minutes. Got it home and every entree down to the egg rolls was terrible. Threw it all out. Will never order from there again. So disappointing.

They have the best crab lagoon, hands down. Get the cashew chicken with the sauce on the side. This place is classic Pensacola and the best Chinese pick up for 500 miles in any direction.

I got the General Chicken and two sets of spring rolls. It was all very delicious. I wish I had gotten fried rice instead of white rice, but it was still pretty good in my opinion. I would definitely come back.

The food was good but I would have much preferred fried rice not steamed rice ( I can steam my own rice). I have had this here before and it came with fried rice. Somewhat pricey for what I got but it's ok.

We feed five people twice a week for lunch and we spend right at $30 and that gives us crab rangoons that gives us shrimp fried rice hot pepper chicken white rice spring rolls and we still have leftovers you can't beat that to feed five people in the food's good

Beware! The worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life. Service was marginal. Atmosphere was a run down old restaurant. The chicken was clearly cooked in old burnt oil and had a foul taste. The shrimp was hard and dry and tasted like it was days old. This place should not be serving food.

I went there with my mom , and grand- daughter that is 9 , the server was a total "B" from the very beginning you don't snap at my grandbaby when she asks for something...Ok well 2nd the food was awful the cashew chicken was so hard and overcooked we couldn't hardly eat it.. I asked for a take out cup she snaps again for a drink that was already paid for and wanted me to pay for a cup nope not happening. Keep in mind I haven't been in this place probably in the 90's so I thought the place looked overcrowded with the buffet still out and not being used it just didn't seem the same. The only thing I gave kudos were the spring rolls. They need to pick up their game because I use to love this place I'm really disappointed..

Great traditional Chinese food restaurant! Delicious, fresh ingredients, well-prepared, generous portions, friendly service, well-kept establishment all at a reasonableprice. We love this place! We get takeout once or twice a week, and it's consistently great. 👍👍

You just can't go wrong with House of Chong. We ordered our usual Cashew Chicken, General Chicken, Spring Rolls, Fried Rice and Crab Rangoon. Perfection!

The food makes up for the atmosphere. The fried rice isn't the greatest. Egg rolls are small but the soups are hot and flavorful. The entree's are well portioned & rich w/ flavor.

Ordered Mongolian triple 2 piece off chicken I ask for no shrimp but extra meat I got 3 piece off beef food was cold and tateless worst Chinese I have ever eaten canceled payment to them Wouldn't feed it to my dog

I’ve eaten here for 20 years. I can’t recommend the general chicken, hot pepper chicken, and crab rangoons enough.

My boyfriend and I went for lunch today, the lady working was okay, not the nicest but not rude either… the atmosphere is dark and the air is a little stagnant. We ordered and within 2 minutes our food was on the table, sweet and sour chicken, and fried rice/no veggies… The chicken was like super dark meat, and it tasted old with the rice being a grey color and soggy. Not a great first impression. We left, paid, even tipped our server and went and got dinner elsewhere.

The lady that works there is rude!, the cashew. Hickenlooper is not the same, no lettuce,barely any sauce, all on a plate.More rice than anything What a sad day, the well known cashew chicken they served is no more .Been going there for over 30 yrs..

Their Cashew Chicken is the undisputed G.O.A.T. of Chinese food dishes on the Gulf Coast. A must-have whenever we take trips back home, and if you haven't tried it before, you MUST give it a try!

Read all of the reviews about the cashew chicken so I decided to give it a try for lunch. On my drive back to my office all I could smell was fried chicken and I couldn’t figure out why until I opened the container. The dish is fried chicken pieces in a light sauce with a few cashews. Veggies are separate, over cooked for my taste and sparse. Rice was ok. Price with tax $7.80. Not my thing! I won’t be going back.

Best Chinese food I've ever had.

Fantastic Food!!! The absolute best cashew chicken in Pensacola. You will not find one place in Pensacola that even comes close. The same goes for the egg rolls. Perfection. Steamed dumplings were also cooked perfectly as was the spicy beef lomein . Thank you for being authentic.

NO BUFFET. They need to change description on Google advertising the buffet. Food and service was okay. Place was very dark. Probably won't visit place again.

The hot pepper chicken tasted like honey chicken with 2 slices of jalapeño. Bland, missing the pepper taste and chicken pieces were sweet and overcooked. The combination fried rice was bland, pork pieces didn’t taste good, chicken looked boiled no seasoning. The vegetable egg foo young was the only thing we ordered that tasted ok.

Takeout order. The garlic beef was not spicy as advertised, very sweet. The honey chicken was sweet but no taste of honey to be found. The wonton soup was good but very salty. I ordered the Krab rangoon but think they forgot to add it but not sure as there were 2 orders of fried noodles for the soup so many they thought I ordered that instead of the cheese filled fried things. Overall, I don't think I'll go back anytime soon for the money spent.

The WORST Chinese food I’ve ever had… EVER.

The restaurant has a very bad smell when you enter. The woman at the front fest was very rude. They also did not have a buffet even though they advertise it on google. I would not recommend this place..

Great food, atmosphere is nice but dated. The service was amazing and the food was perfect. Portions were awesome, lunch is like a dinner plate. Dinner is enough for 2.

I just ate at House of Chong. It was filthy and terrible. One waitress that is also the cashier. Food was overpriced and plain. The waitress brought a condiment tray with ducksauce and then came back twice so she could bring it to another table. I said just take it. I ordered their lousy meatless eggrolls and seafood trio. Imitation crab, 4 shrimp and tiny scallops. Pitiful. Over $20 for this. Oh and sign on door says no buffet even though website says they have buffet. Do not waste your money in this filthy dark place with lousy food and service.

Been here since feb 2016, been trying to try them out but it's been hit and miss with storms, covid and possibly seasonal hours, until recently, for their sake I really do hope it's because I came in later (1900) in the evening, my meal was either over cooked or simply old, hard. Want impressed. Wantons, tiny. Egg rolls half the size of most places and no Bueno. I'll give them 1 more chance by my ordering earlier...stay tuned

Best Chinese food around so good been eating here for 30 yrs

We got take out as we do every time we come into the area. The food is consistent cashew chicken is awesome and the combination lomein and egg rolls as well not to forget the wantons they are the bomb.

Not at all what it used to be. Last night I spent $64 to feed 3 people. Way overpriced for what you get. We got the family dinner special and the portion sizes were way smaller than to go, don't make this mistake. Also, they use spaghetti noodles for the lo mein, not good.

This place is no frills, nothing fancy at all. The food is my favorite and what I think is the best in the area. Eggrolls are house made and amazing with their spicy mustard and duck sauce. Cashew chicken is to die for.

Possibly the worst food I have ever had. Two in our Party and neither ate our food. Beef tasted spoiled. Walls are filthy with old food stains. Disappointing. Was probably good at one point in history.

Decent food. The food tasted kind of cheap and they're isn't much special about it. You can kind of tell this restaurant is struggling to stay present, can't blame them because of the pandemic and location of the restaurant, but if you want cheap decent plentiful Chinese food, heres your spot. I got they're Kung pow chicken and my friend got the seafood special. Both very decent. Service was enough with the one server they had with the good amount of people in there

Always friendly service and great food

My go to was closed so figured I would give it a shot. The sweet and sour chicken was not breast meat lightly breaded, no it was like southern fried chicken. Just dipped in flour and deep fried..awful. The beef and broccoli looked good but what was odd the container was warm the food inside stone cold. So not fresh microwaved. Save your taste buds eat anywhere else.

For good American -Chinese, give it a try! Order the General Tso's super hot and you won't be disappointed:) All their wanton, Chinese doughnuts, spring rolls and egg rolls are without the extra oil and the egg/spring rolls are pleasantly peppery! Good folks, stop by!

Best Chinese food around! They are as close to my favorite Chinese Restaurant, Tony Cheng’s in Chinatown-Washington DC. I can’t go to DC every week but I can go to House of Chong. If you request special orders like all white meat, no problem!

i got the chicken lo mein and immediately felt sick after eating it. ive been feeling sick and have been going to the bathroom for a day now. having lots of abdominal pain and nausea. dont eat here

Every dish on our family style meal was a meat rolled in the same type of fry meal then deep fried. Following this they coat said meat in a different colored glaze, depending on what they called the dish. The 'nuggets' were too big to really eat in one bite, they were tough and painful in your mouth due to jagged edges of the batter. The "cashew chicken" was an abomination to all cashew Chinese chicken ever prepared. The crab Rangoon was good but over priced and small. When I told the owner the food was a disappointment she laughed in my face and argued w me. Actually mocked me to a table next us, attempting to bring them into our chat. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. It was 87$ for 3 ppl to eat.

Locally owned and family ran restaurant that has amazing food and service. They treat you like family. My favorites are their shrimp, rice noodles, green beans, hot pepper chicken, cashew chicken, and hot and sour soup!

I have never had cashew chicken with such thick breading and it was served in a bowl swimming in juice like a soup. I did not like it at all. Our waitress was so nice and the prices were good just did not care for the food.

This was our first time visit. Ordered the cashew chicken and fried rice. Did not care for the taste of either of the foods. Returned the food telling the server we did not care for the food and ordered sweet and sour chicken with white rice. At the end we were charged for the original order and the the replacement. Never have we been charged for something we did not like especially when we ate only a small portion of the food. When we went to pay the bill and complained about the double charge the owner would have nothing to do with it. He stated you read the menu and understood what was in the dish and that was that. The customers taste was of no concern, only the money. So that is all they will get. No good will, no good word of mouth, and certain no return visit with friends to try different dishes. An absolute horrible experience.

Best Chinese food from here to AZ!

I had never eaten here but my husband grew up eating House of Chong. All I can say is WOW!! The food was delicious - every dish had it's own flavor. Most places I've eaten all taste the same. House of Chong is fresh, flavorful, and is now my favorite Chinese restaurant in Pensacola hands down.

Not the same Cashew Chicken from the 70's and 80's. They have cut cost adjusting the recipe for budget that its not the same recipe any more. Its edible but not the gourmet flavor and texture it used to be. I went in the other day. The waitress was rude and stingy on the napkins. I ordered hot tea and got hot water. Another piece of Pensacola History lost. At one time this restaurant was booming with Navy brass customers but now just roaches.

Almost all the trays were empty. So I walked out and found the Best Chinese Buffet I have ever had at KING BUFFET! So good and a huge amount of selections. No empty trays. WOW!!!

Sat down and chose buffet. They have a very sparse buffet and just a small amount of food is cooked considering the lunch crowd. Who knows how long anything has been in the buffet bin, since they just throw it on top of the old stuff. The price was high considering what was not available. I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Also, once seated we have to search for someone to assist with our needs...refills, napkins etc. Not friendly either.

Same old place, looks rough, but food is good

I got takeout of their Cashew chicken. It was delicious! I could eat it every day. I've been going for years, and will continue.

They're in the covid they stop dying and services but they continue to have takeout the food is absolutely phenomenal it is a staple of Pensacola since the '60s and still knock it out of the park. And so glad to see that you can eat buffet for lunch and they do have dine-in for dinner.

Great service. The hot and sour soup was excellent, and the egg rolls were the best I've ever had! Both our dinners were very good! We'll definitely come again next time we're in Pensacola!

Food was hot and well sauced. Price was good. Fried rice was bland and did not include egg and vegetables and was very dissatisfied. I have had mich worse but if your hungry and looking for a very middle of the road place then it's fine.

The buffet was very good. As people realize they are open they are getting busier. Really have missed going.
