Where do I begin ! 🤩 since I found this Jamaica restaurant I really can not eat from any other Jamaican restaurant in this area . I pass 3 Jamaican restaurants to get here from my home and never regret it! The consistent in this place is outstanding! The staff are always so polite with positive energy. The food is always fresh! Never oily! Never salty! Never under seasoned. I’ve eaten fish the most here but tried the chicken, oxtail and the pork as well. Everything always cooked CORRECT! I am an island woman only we understand the importance of authentic quality food, not being near family once you experience quality authentic Jamaican food you can’t go back to the basic 😂 the food here made it easier for me to stop eating fast food . You can taste the love and integrity. I haven’t eaten any ones fish the way I eat Miss. Helena’s fish. The consistency amazes you and keep you coming back ! Very grateful for the great experience and the consistency… your team is amazing 🤩 A LOYAL CUSTOMER.

I went to the restaurant and was given the delicious mango bread. I donated the additional pieces to a couple in need and they agreed that it was truly wonderful and tasty.

Visiting from Georgia with family I was referred by a local friend about where to eat authentic Jamaican food. They have generous portions at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend this place if you are visiting the area!

Went here with my husband and two friends. We all loved it. HUGE portion sizes at very reasonable prices. Top-notch service. There isn't much of a seating area but they were kind enough to bring out an extra stool so we were all able to sit down. I had the jerk pork. My husband got both the jerk chicken which he said was good and the brown stew chicken which he thought was phenomenal. We all really like their red rice which is cooked with coconut milk. Mixed vegetables were not overcooked like they seem to be at a lot of restaurants. We all loved their hot sauce. Not a lot for vegetarian options, but they are still able to accommodate those with a vegetarian diet.

Got the Jerk chicken, cabbage, rice and peas. It wasn’t good at all if you want real jerk chicken full of flavor go to Miller's Jamaican Spice Cuisine it’s 5 minutes away and the best Jamaican food I’ve had is Saint Pete I promise

First time there today, we ordered the oxtail with veggies and yellow rice, two meat patties, and a pineapple upside down cake. Absolutely delicious. More of a take-out place than dine in, but there are a few seats. Great vibe, and I cannot stress how yummy the food was - it will be a craving going forward.

This is one of my favorite Caribbean restaurants in the Tampa St. Pete area. Miss Helena the owner is always kind and sweet and has excellent Customer Service. Her food is absolutely delicious and is a savory staple in her community. I highly recommend visiting here for the snapper, oxtail, curry goat, or any other Jamaican dish, your heart desires.

Go on vacation to the jewel of the Caribbean In mid Town of Pinellas County. My reviews of over 2 million must include Mrs Helena's authentic, pleasantly presented, exceptional flavors for an unexpected take out small or large portions of Caribbean finger licking fresh made lunch or dinner items. I only gave food a 4 due to only had the jerk chicken ,rice and bean's, cabbage and fresh hand made Mango meatballs OMG, and allows me opportunity to purpose a visit again on Saturday and do additional taste of possible jerk pork ,curry chicken, curry goat,oxtail, etc, It will take me till then to decide and of course, more Meatballs.. fyi, if you are someone who shares meals ,PS the food is so flavorful and spiced so proper you will regret that decision. I took a little trip to the Island, Jamaica. The restaurant presents happy, culture, and beauty with island music to sway to. Food presentation and aromas are alluring with great herbs and spices of tender meat and vegetables. That rum cake and famous Helena's mango bread is like no other, and don't forget your island beverage.. The warmth and welcoming from the women is a feeling of home. A 5-star rating is not enough. Yes, all the 5 star reviews are true (and well deserved). I’ve been eating here with my family for well over 14 years. Everything is delicious : the oxtail, the curry goat, the fish, patties. You really can’t make a bad choice. The desserts and drinks are also spot on. Everything is made with love and the owner, Miss Helena, is sweet and attentive. I will support this business for as long as it stands.

I drove from Clearwater 3 weeks ago and there was a mix up with my food. Helena. I tagged me and was very very sweet and made it right. I just came back and the food is delicious. The owner Helena is the sweetest lady. This place is clean and the food is delicious. I will keep driving from Clearwater. Thank you Helena for taking care of me after the mix up.

We had Island Flavors and Tings cater our little one's One Love first birthday. The food really made the event theme come together and was next level catering. Every guest told me it was absolutely delicious and there was something for everyone. This spot is authentic, friendly, knowledgable, local and delicious. I was very impressed by not only the delicious food, but the friendly service. I am Jamaican so I am very picky about my Caribbean food - The rice and peas were cooked perfectly and the jerk chicken was moist and flavorful. We loved it and decided to use Island Flavors and Tings to cater our family Christmas coming up this year.

This food is worth the wait! I've been here 3x now and was very pleased each time. Today I ordered the mini box of rice and peas and brown stew chicken. You can choose veggies instead of rice and then the one meat for $5. I also added fried dumplings and spent a total of $6.42! Worth every pennttttyyy and the wait. I think my server was Ms. Irie today and she was very pleasant. Every one there is pleasant, professional and patient. The customer service alone will keep me coming back! The food is so good and flavorful too. Glad I found this spot in the area!

My family and I drove down from PPark tonight to try the Jamaican food at Island Flavors and Tings. It is hands down the best Jamaican food in the area. We had Jerk Pork, Island Fried Chicken, Brown Stew Chicken and Oxtails with rices and peas, yellow rice, cabbage and plantains. Everything was perfectly seasoned and very flavourful. The portion sizes are large. The staff was very nice and the young man on the line helped guide us through the options as it was our first time there. The cashier was very friendly. We tried the mango bread for dessert. It was tasty and moist. Our taste buds are very happy. We can't wait for lunch tomorrow... 🙂🇯🇲🙂🇯🇲🙂

Visited Island Flavors and Tings all the way from Atlanta GA through word of mouth from my mother. Ambiance was great with good reggae music playing in the background, clean and orderly set up and display and great tasting food. The fried Snapper, Rice and peas and cabbage was delicious. Will definitely be back.

The Food and Staff will always keep you coming back for more, simply AMAZING comfort food that tastes Phenomenal and VERY satisfying! As soon as you walk in there is a place to order your meal or simply shop for any West Indian products for snacking or planning your own meal! My Wife and I eat here at least 3 times per week and ALWAYS have the meats, veggies and starches the will stay with you and leave you feeling satisfied!

Catering at american stage footloose in the park was really bad. Cold food was frozen, hot food was cold. Too bad as the flavors seemed good. Just couldn’t eat it.

Update: Today was different. I tried the Taste of Jamaica and it was not fresh. I had oxtail brown stew chicken curry goat and jerk chicken. Tasted like it was reheated. To top it off there is A HUGE PEICE OF PLASTIC in my oxtail that I almost Ingested! I spent $31 for my stomach to be 🤢

Helena and crew deliver the most delicious food with friendly service. Our favorites are whole snapper, Jamaican fried chicken her award winning mango bread. Portions are big and ready on demand at the buffet. Grab a couple Jamaican patties and don’t forget the oxtail gravy. Nothing like Island Flavors for homemade goodness.

So flavorful. The sides were cooked just right, not mushed. This says alot about the care that went into cooking the food. The meats were the best that I have ever had in this county. So flavorful without being overwhelming. Just right. I'm not sure what days they're open but I was there on Sunday afternoon. To-go only. The wait time is long, not fast food even though it's cafeteria style. They do take cards. Ordered the Irie Sunday which has salted fish crumbles, dumplings, boiled plaintains and greens, and the 4-meat combo which come with veggies amd rice. Every single item was so delicious.

We used Island Flavors and Tings to cater a 50th birthday party. We ordered a number of appetizers: the Jamaican cocktail patties, mango meatballs, antipasto platter, (which was massive even though it was a small), etc. and then jerk chicken, peas and rice and plantain for the mains. Everything was amazing. Our guests loved the food and several people asked me for the name of the place we ordered from. They especially loved the patties, meatballs and chicken, which was wonderfully aromatic and tender but not hot (per my request). I found one guest in my kitchen after we had taken away the appetizers to make room for the mains loading up on the leftover patties—that’s how good they were. And Helena and her team were amazing to work with. They gave us all the chafing pans and everything we needed. And the prices were very reasonable. I know what catering is like from my wedding and how much you can get nickel and dimed on ok food. I highly recommend these guys for any event; delicious food, generous portions and excellent value.

Great service, good food. Easily, the best Caribbean spot in St Pete, actually the whole Bay area. Consistency, a good variety, and a welcoming/friendly atmosphere is what makes this restaurant the top spot. Unlike many places from Brooklyn to Miami,loads of Americans frequent Island Flavors. It's cool to see. And it is always good to see the Boss lady working amongst her crew. Respect to all the people working in the front and around back. Continued Success..

This is absolutely a 5/5 star restaurant! I love the ambience, their staff are friendly and their food is absolutely delicious! It is always worth the long drive from where I live. I only wish they have more ox tails, lol, but I know that they always cook their food fresh and of course customers always buys from them so that’s not always possible! I will keep on coming back to this place!

Wow. We found the restaurant on the internet, as we searched for a Jamaican restaurant. After finding that they were open, our wedding anniversary celebration in the area was taken up ten notches, as we experienced the friendliness of the staff- on the phone with excellent directions and thoughtfulness to let me know what items were still available, since they were closing in a couple of hours. They still had oxtails and brown stew chicken, so my husband and I were delighted. This was our first visit to Island Flavors and Tings. The nice lady working the food service line explained the small vs large plates and what came with each and offered my husband a combo plate of brown stew and curry chicken which he opted for. We were glad we went for small plates. The portions were huge; the meat were tender and all was tasty. They made us feel extra welcome went they realized it was our first visit and even gave us a choice of a free slice of cake- lemon or red velvet, as an anniversary gift... They are big on CUSTOMER SERVICE and excellent Jamaican cuisine prep. We thank God for such a wonderful experience and wish the owners and staff all the best!

Do not let the outside appearance fool you as the food is extraordinary and they provide significant amounts to more than fill you. It is amazingly affordable and excellent food. Highly recommend it. We celebrated our anniversary at the restaurant and it reminded us of being back in Jamaica for our honeymoon.

My father and I are from the Dominican Republic and we were craving oxtails we happened to stumble upon this beautiful place. Ms Helena made us feel so welcomed and the food is outstanding l. It’s clean and fresh I will definitely return.

Delicious food and wonderful hospitality! Came in on a Sunday afternoon for some goat curry and walked out with additional rum cake, fruit cake and sorrel. Helena (the owner) was such a sweetheart, I told her I bought some sorrel and planned to make a fresh juice of it, and she walked me through how to make it and sent me home with a huge ginger root to flavor it. The food and the warmth of Island Flavors and Tings left my belly and my heart happy. And I can’t wait to return for more! Always a wonderful experience visiting this restaurant! From the taste/quality of the food, the music, and the atmosphere - everything is 100% authentic. We traveled from Austin, TX to St. Petes for Thanksgiving. We placed our order through Helena. Helena was kind and sympathetic to are limitations at the Airbnb where we stayed. Helena made sure the food was packaged for easy reheating and she also ensured we had the proper supplies for baking the delicious beef patties. Our Thanksgiving dinner of jerk turkey, jerk pork and curry goat was extremely delicious. Helena, thanks for patiently answering my many questions and for accommodating our travel schedule. Oh, everyone loved the mango bread.

Knew when we arrived ten minutes til opening and there was a line at the door this place was definitely what reviews said. They delivered! Wonderful, friendly staff. Many choices of food. Seasoned perfectly (actually better than other Jamaican restaurants we’ve been to) the peas and rice had a little kick to them, so flavorful!! Portion size: ginormous. Mango bread was delicious, can’t wait to try the rum cake. Great for vegetarians and meat lovers alike! Wednesday’s are vegetarian/vegan days. Will be swinging back through for veggie patties and veggie soup. Highly recommend this place!

I’m sorry my family hasn’t found this place sooner. Prices reasonable feeding the three of us for less than $30 with food left over. Delicious. They had a steady flow of customers. Now I know why. I wish success for this locally/black owned business. They’ll see business from us again.

Helena catered a celebration of life for 50 folks. She did an incredible job. The food was fabulous and fun!!!!!!!! The presentation was gorgeous!!!!!!!! And their presence was easy and unobtrusive. Hard to find this place if you don't look carefully. The fried beef patties are good. The jerk chicken was ok ;the skin taste good but the meat itself didn't have much flavor. The chicken stew was a bit dried... I'm use to alot of gravy and this place didn't have much. I had better Jamaican in Ft Lauderdale. Would give this place another chance though

First time going to this restaurant & up u gotta give credit when credit is due. The food here is simply delicious!!! Had rice with beans cabbage sweat plantains &2types of chicken. Sufficient amount of food for only $9!! This place reminds me of mamas cooking with a secret ingredient of a touch of love. Keep up the good work!! Undoubtedly the very best Jamaican restaurant in the entire Tampa Bay Area and a gem in the City of St Petersburg. I’m a regular visitor. Everything on the menu is absolutely outstanding. From the rice and peas, the curried goat, jerk chicken, oxtail to the escovitch fish; all are bursting with flavorful spices. You cannot go wrong in ordering. And, the owner, Helena and her staff are equally adept at customer service.
