If you haven’t ate here you are missing out. I’ve lived around Kingsport my whole life and just recently ate here. This is a hidden gem. Loved the food here. Most definitely will be going back.

This place is one of those Hidden Jems. The food is great, you can get anything on the menu at any time. If you are traveling between Bristol and Kingsport or just looking for a nice little place for a good bite I highly recommend stopping in.

We loved it!! We love little mom-and-pop restaurants, and this one really fit the bill!! With only six tables, it's the quintessential small mom-and-pop shop!! The food was outstanding, and the ladies cooking and serving were great!! It's definitely going to be a new "regular" for my wife and I!!

The breakfast was very good, and fast as well. If you want a good place to sit down and have a good breakfast and a good cup of coffee, this is the place. I highly recommend it.

We were driving for a couple hours back home & found this along our route. Honestly, such a wonderful place with true home style cooking. I had a biscuit & gravy with home fries, an egg, & sausage. Very filling & everything tasted great. It’s cash only & the prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Also, since it is home style cooking & a small place in general, you will most likely wait for your food but I promise you it is worth the wait! Thank you for a lovely stop on our trip home!

One of the best in the area for home made cooking. Food is always perfect, and the menu is full of great choices. The waitress isn't very friendly and I always have to ask for a coffee refill or I would have left 5 stars. I wonder if my $5.00 tips for a $13.00 meal aren't enough?

I love going here for breakfast. They are great at just fixin up a quick breakfast that tastes like something your grandma would whip up. The prices are reasonable too. You feel full and know it was real food, not some pre-cooked or prepackaged food from these fat food chains. We will definitely be back. Just remember, they don't take credit or debit cards. So bring cash. It's worth it.

Absolutely love this little kitchen. With all the regulars and the down home country cooking it is an excellent place to eat! Cheese grits, toast, and bacon is my go to and they certainly don’t disappoint.

Kay's is the place to go if you are looking for good, simple home cooked food. This small family owned hidden gem, has been opened for 37 years. They serve breakfast and lunch. We got the Cheese burger, onion rings ,grilled cheese, tater tots and slaw. Food was fresh, hot, delicious and made to order. The staff is very friendly and prices very reasonable. They only take cash or checks. Definitely will go back to try breakfast.

The food was great, prices are even better! We were on some 2 lane back road that really only had room for one car at a time. Then we came upon the sharpest left turn I’ve ever seen in my life! It looked like an upside down V, it was that sharp. My daughter stoped the car, too afraid to go forward, thinking the car would tip over or something. I talked her into going ahead slowly and we made it down the mountain to highway 11-W and to this restaurant. There’s plenty of parking and about 6 booths with a round table in the corner. Cash Only. Sitting there before ordering, I eavesdropped on the fellow customers. I heard one man say he better git goin’ he’s been there since they opened (5 am) and it was close to noon. Sure did love their accents. While I have a Tennessee accent, these were lovely hill country accents. To me, it felt like stepping back in time. There was one server, she was fast and no nonsense. She zipped from kitchen to tables back and forth. Wore me out. We ordered breakfast over medium with eggs, bacon, home fries, grits and toast. The kid had scrambled egg with a biscuit and sausage gravy. Everything was hot, very good and the iced tea was perfect. Daughter said that was the best coffee she’s ever had! And the bacon…so so good!! It was just a good atmosphere; even all the other customers were nice and friendly. I wish I had taken more pictures, a video would have been nice. But I suspect it might also seem rude. But I am going back to take a picture of that sharp curve! 😙 Yes, we’d like to come back for lunch. And to listen to all the folks. My kind of people.

Very good home cooked food. First time I was there had to go sit in the truck. All six tables were full. Very small place. They have a very large menu but very few places to eat. The food is very good. This restaurant is good for Togo orders.

Take a roll of Money with you when you go

I asked for a burger well done and it wasn't! My first and last time to go there! Could use a good cleaning too! I could NOT eat the burger. I told the waitress and she said she was sorry. Came back a few minutes later and offered to have them to fix me another one. Very over rated! We actually went there for plate lunches but they weren't serving them that day. I only ate the fries.

Kay's Restaurant is located just on the side of the four lane between Bristol and Kingsport. A small yellow building set under some natural shade gives eating a burger outside a very peaceful feeling. Food prices here are VERY VERY accommodating and easy on the wallet. Extremely nice women packed the kitchen while ice cold drinks done the same in their coolers. I will highly recommend this place to anyone, especially those traveling through looking for cheap eats, great service and amazing food.

We love Kay's Diner. They have best food around. I can't get beyond the hamburger and tater tots. Service is always good and staff is wonderful.

Hands down best home style food I've had in a long time. When I say bring some cash it's not the reason you think. Expensive they are not. But they do not accept credit or debit, and the foods so good when it come out your going to want to try the whole menu. Friendly get to know you and remember you kind of staff. Will definitely return. Breakfast served all day!!

this little trailer type restaurant is a regular for city &county workers,the regulars for breakfast(available all the open hrs.),best hamburgers fries,tenderloin,eggs& bacon ,soup beans & cornbread with onions,plate lunches of which my favorite is Kay's roast beef mashed potatoes and gravy( be there early lunch as it goes fast),she makes all kinds of sandwiches I could never list all the foods she prepares. There is usually 2-3 people running this place and there is probably 15 seats max plus to go orders too .The girls and Kay are hard working friendly people. this is a come as you are place not fancy but you shouldn't be hungry when you leave. Its a little jewel of a place I think. Give it a try she opens early and closes SOME where about 3 or 4pm.. thanks Kay. Jennifer

Great food, friendly service! Biscuits and gravy taste soooo good, eggs are great and everything we've tried for breakfast and lunch is always top notch country cooking. We average about $12 for 2 big meals and I can never even finish what I order but always order too much food regardless. The prices beat fast food and the taste is better so you get what you pay for and then some. Kay and the staff is always super friendly and provide excellent service.

We've lived here almost 14 years and always drove right by Kay's, saying "we need to try that place". Well, we did, then we did again, and we will go back again. Great little diner with fantastic food, pancakes that are definitely in the top 3 we've ever tasted, and good people! This is our new breakfast place!
