Stopped by today and went down memory lane. Moved away 40+ years ago and had to revisit my favorite place. Brought my adult daughter to show her. It was like I’d never left! The best spot in Daytona with some great memories for me! Can’t wait to come back for a meal!

The food is Always delicious, and there's always plenty of 🍺 to wash it down.

Love this place. Reubens are exceptional. Hugh variety of beer. Atmosphere is super cool. Highly recommend checking it out.

Great selection of food, beer and deli meats. Enjoyed talking with the employees. All sorts of German foods, wines, crackers , jam, jellys, etc. Great experience.

I love this place, I just don't go to the mall that often, but I should just to go here. They have really good food but this visit I just had beers. Maybe the best assortment in Volusia County. The best thing is that most my beers were only 4/5 bucks, best deal anywhere.

I know this is a small store that gets most of its business from the drive-through but in st augustine in the summer the bugs are terrible and they have NO place to sit and eat inside in the air-conditioning. It would be very easy to put two small two seat tables and chairs inside. Wake up manager.

Absolute worst, never leave a tip tried to tip on Togo and they wound up charging me 200 dollars for a burger annd when I brought it to their attention they charged me another 88.77 and still having issues with the bank trying to figure it out. And get my money back..

Atmosphere like old world pub, if you like that . Service was great, very friendly and helpful. Nice surprise in the mall.

Everything about this place is wild: it’s in a dang mall, it’s loaded to the gills with tchotchkes you can buy, the beer list is huge, the food is really good, and it closes at 8 when the mall closes. If you’re in Daytona you gotta go here once

Food is always fresh, delicious, and comes out pretty quick. Today I ordered the greek salad which was so fresh, had crisp vegetables, nice presentation, and was seasoned to perfection. I will be coming back for it for sure!

Went there maybe last year with my wife and father.. been there forever.. oldest spot in the Volusia mall.. glad it's still there. Used to be able to get Montreal smoked meat sandwiches there forever ago lol the pastrami is a nice sub for that though on the rye bread with mustard!

We recently visited this location. We both very disappointed by food. I didn't met my high standards of food for the price. I ordered Der New Yorker very skimpy on the meat. I was super disappointed when I upgraded from potato chips to fried pickles only got six for $3.29 not worth it. My hubby got Schnitzel was lacking as well...potato cakes they were breakfast hash browns and store purchased apple sauce in cup. We won't be back to location.

Food was delicious and since the food court at the mall was horrible, we were glad to see this place still open. Food was great, generous portions, service was great and enjoyed the quaint restaurant.

Kitschy place in the mall. Fantastic beer list. Kwak is a fave of mine. Der Rueben on Pumpernickel was delish. Only gripe, Potato Pancakes were not cooked to order and instead were frozen hashbrown patties. Good but not legit. Wish I had shopped here when first arriving from Chicago. Deli looks amazing!

Even though we were late getting there the service was excellent and the food was delicious as always. Definitely a must stop when you're in the mall.

Never had Jägersauce like that in Germany. Cannot recommend it.

The sauerkraut and weiners are always amazing but my daughter's $9 mozzarella sticks were gross and she barely ate a bite of one. That was a waste of money but we learned our lesson. Potato pancakes and weiners from now on only

Great German food and delicious. Wine, beer, and specialty foods, too. Great service. Buy cheese, sausage, bread, mustard, jams, candies, and many other items at the Deli counter. Now, under new management with the same experienced employees. Great place to shop for adults.

Glad we found it. The food was good. German beer was good. I think they have way too many beers, however, most of which aren't German. Sitting at the bar is problematic. The bartender has to reach over stacks of beer cans to serve you anything. Way too crowded. Also, I like the look with all the beer steins but, ironically, most are American beer steins.

Teamwork very outgoing, place some very clean, advertising very German, the food is not German at all🧐

I was not impressed at all. I was hoping to have a good corned beef sandwich, only to find out it was deli meat, and not fresh cooked. So we ordered the schnitzel sandwich. I ordered mine on rye. When it came out, and was placed in front of me, the first thing I saw were small bits of potato chips, think I got the bottom of the bag! The pickle was limp and beginning to shrivel. I was expecting the schnitzel to be bigger than the bread, it was not. It was a very small sandwich with a tiny amount of lettuce and tomato, and the veal was rubbery. I think perhaps it was pre cooked and heated in the microwave? Needless to say neither of us finished our food. I don’t recommend this restaurant at all.

Food was average. Nothing special. I can make better Bavarian style food at home. Service was quick and server was nice enough. No atmosphere. Loud.

Passing through town Google German restaurants and found this one because it was near. It is inside the mall next to the old Sears building it was a bit difficult to find because I don't expect a nice German restaurant to be inside a mall however it was a real treat. Infects 2 weeks later we were passing that way again and we stopped and ate again. The beer selection is tremendous the sausage plate is fantastic, and the German chocolate cake is wonderful

The second time in coming here and the food is great and fast. Love the atmosphere and all the little things around the place

A wonderful surprise as we had not been to this deli/restaurant before. Fantastic sandwiches and many imported beers to choose from. Service was very good and the staff attentive and friendly. We will be back!

If you drink beer then this is nirvana for you! Mr. Dunderbak's has maybe a hundred different flavors, maybe more. German chocolate, some German deli stuff, all kinds of goodies. And the restaurant food never disappoints me. I could eat a ton of their German potato salad. Nice menu. Great atmosphere, especially if you like to browse. Unique is the one word I'll use.

The place for a great Reuben, though everything on the menu is good. The beer selection is impressive. The staff are friendly and energetic. Recommended.

Despite all the change and downturn in the mall, dunderbaks still remains authentic and fun to visit. So many things to buy and the food is rarely a miss.

Absolutely fell in love with this place. Such a charming, relaxed, comfortable restaurant. The ambiance is exceptional. Cool waitress who made us feel right at home. Draft beers were fantastic and they sell anything you can think of in their deli/shop. The brat was great and the potato pancakes were kind of bland but not bad. Plenty of other things to try on the menu. I can't wait to return.

First time there since new owner. Not much has changed except they replaced the tent at the ceiling, much brighter. Yes, it is bar food, but what little kitchen they have the menu selection is pretty big and food ok. Has been the same for over 40 years. best thing is the people. Darby, Jodie and Dana always treat us great. I'm glad they didn't change. Love it the way it is.

Seriously disappointed. NOT German food!

This place was so interesting and weird, I would recommend going to it just go see it. Fun decor and lots of German and some Dutch food items for sale. The food, however, was not very good, as not a single thing there is authentic or homemade. Those jars of kraut and cabbage on the shelves? You’re eating it. The schnitzel? It’s frozen and flash fried, with watery “gravy” with canned mushrooms. They literally served store bought individual applesauce cups like you put in your kid’s lunch box (for $1.49). I actually laughed when I saw the food. It tastes exactly like what you would expect from canned food. The hard part is yes, I like those jars of food, I buy them. But I can make that at home. If you are going to be a German restaurant, then make your own food, not heat up something equivalent to what’s on the shelves at Aldi and charge $16 for it. It’s not original or authentic, I’m just saying. And even with a tiny kitchen, you could batch your own kraut, cabbage, applesauce, gravy…bread and prep your own schnitzel, so there is no excuse that there is not enough room. Maybe clean out some of the junk in there and consolidate and give yourself a place to actually cook something. I won’t eat here again, I might shop the shelves, just don’t go here with high expectations and you will be fine.

This place is simply amazing, great food, great staff and just so unique and full of history.

DO NOT COME HERE FOR GERMAN FOOD! If you want German beer, then yes. Pub fare, sure. German food? No, hard pass. I have been to German restaurants all over the US and Germany. Best German food I ever had: No idea the restaurant name, but the Frankfort Airport in Germany and I had about three pints in me. Second best German food I have ever had: Andreas Keller, Leavenworth, WA. Sober. Worst German Food I ever had: A place that is in a mall in Daytona Beach, FL today. It was literally Food Court Chinese food, but the German version. Sober. The portion size, while cheaper than all others I just mentioned, it was insultingly small. That said, the salad size was impressive, and my son's cheeseburger looked normal. The schnitzel was tiny in contrast to literally every other German restaurant I have ever been to. Also, the meat was tuff. The sides come in a cup, and the German Potato salad is an insult to your taste buds, but also the same color as the Schinzel, and the Sauerkraut. I ate the red cabbage, which taste like the stuff you get from, the glass jar at Publix. I have not had German food since Leavenworth, WA. The bar was set high. I did not realize the Panda Express of German food was this place. Again, their non-German food looked and tasted amazing, but this is not a German food place to go to if you have eaten German food in Germany or anywhere know for good German food (also looking at you, Texas). The service, however, was decent. I will give them that. That said, I would rather drive to Sanford to get what I am being told is a great German food experience over ever trying this crappy German food place again. They do have neat knick-knacks and steins and stuff for sale. If you are just looking to get plowed, by all means check this place out. If you have your heart set on German food fare, you will be greatly disappointed. Do not go here for German food, go here for German beer and pub fare. In fairness, it was also the cheapest German food I've ever paid for. Florida, outside of some seafood dishes and everything Key lime, will never be a good culinary hot spot for anything. Mexican, Cajun, Creole, Chinese, Thai, Swahili, you name it. This area is devoid of ethnic "good" table fare.

Wir wurden auf dieses Restaurant von Amerikanischen Freunden aufmerksam gemacht. Also gingen wir hin. Es befindet sich in einer Einkaufsmall. Eine Riesenbierauswahl, und eine Auswahl an deutschen Lebensmitteln macht es ganz lustig, aber das Schnitzel hat dem dem was wir kennen nicht zu tun. Service ok. Servus!

Best Ruben I've had in a long time!

I really enjoyed my lunch here today. This place is like a little oasis here in this mall, which has little else going on. The Reuben was one of the best ones I’ve had in a while. Pleasant staff and really cool atmosphere with all these mugs and glasses. There’s so much going on here and it feels so random here it’s hard to pass up. Definitely check this place out if you find yourself around.

Go for a drink, stay for the food.

3 dinner options and I got the veal schnitzel. One small piece of over cooked dried out meat. My wife got the pastrami Rueben which she liked. The red cabbage side was tasty but not the german potato salad. Weird place. I had regular stainless flatware and my wife was given plastic. How odd.

Genuine authentic German food at good prices. Me and my husbands go to- for a step back in time. We always enjoy the rotating tap and beer is kept perfectly cold if by bottle.
