Just went back and I was disappointed by the food and service. Always a pleasure to go to eat there for a good beer and great food….

Every meal has the same 2 sides. Whether it goes with it or not. No substitution.

The lady who served us was a bit lost and mixed up all the orders, but she was very sweet. Everything else was amazing! Will go again

Go sit at the bar and talk to Michelle. She will not steer you wrong. Too many options to choose from but take your time. Maybe consult your guests and get different dishes so you can sample the flavors. What a great place to get great food and meet great people.

Authentic Bavarian food, beer and excellent service

Came there by recommendation of my coworker and schnitzels were on point. Tasty crispy fresh.

I fell in love with the feel of this place , every one there were very friendly . I have had almost everything on the menu , it was all fantastic. I personally love the Spiessbraten !

To reply to owner: I had to literally argue with the staff in order to get the cash discount added on because they advised we can not get the discount with a current “complimentary” discount that was on the check. Your waiter took one of the shots since one of our guests didn’t want it and they still added it to the check and demanded we tip on the complimentary items we never requested. Your server was also wearing a mask and touching it while serving us food. I’d like to know if he is currently positive for COVID and still serving food in your establishment. Had dinner here, the server bought us a round of shots which he added to the check and discounted off. They added 19% gratuity to the check, which includes the "free" shots. I don't mind tipping on the free shots but when I asked for the "cash discount" the server said we can't get a cash discount because there's something discounted on the check. Mind you, we never requested these free shots and shouldn't be penalized for them. The manager asked me if "I wanted a dollar" as if that was the value to the gratuity and 3%. Respectfully, this is borderline a scam. Luckily I'm very aware of these things given that I myself own a bar/restaurant so I always double check the bill. Very dishonest company and should probably change their protocols so they don't get into any trouble for not being transparent on their menu and bill as per Florida Law.

I grew up in Germany and this is the worst restaurant. Terrible food, terrible service (typical German) and it smelled inside. My kids have been eating Fleischkäse ever since they have been little and this is the first time they didn’t want to eat it. That said a lot. Wenn ihr aus Deutschland kommt und gerne mal wieder etwas leckeres essen wollt kommt hier bloß nicht her! Ich war hier mit meinen Kindern und wurde total böse angeschaut. Familien freundlich ist es auf jeden Fall nicht. Ich bin unglaublich enttäuscht! I will never be back and I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone! Cook at home or go to Miami! Niemals wieder! Das Jägerschnitzel hat nach Fisch geschmeckt. Würg Honestly my children have never behaved this good at a restaurant and as they were trying to help and put away their high chairs after they were done eating a man came right away to us telling us the kids can’t be walking around. But nice way to try to get yourself out of being rude against families by saying they were running around like it’s a playground. My children were fantastic and when they were trying to be helpful we were disrespected! Like I mentioned these people are typical Germans. Very rude to families!

Everything was great. The food, the drinks, the service. The beers are great, the soup was bland, but the schnitzel was amazing.

A delightful restaurant with the definite feel of Barvaria! From the decor, the staff, the display of beverages in interesting serving vessels, and the magnificent cuisine, this place really offers it up!! I would very much recommend this wonderful Restaurant/Pub to anyone who enjoys great food served in a great place!

Walked here from the Candlewood Suites and it took about 3 minutes. We were greeted and seated promptly. Ordered the potato cake appetizer and it came out hot and delicious. I ate the Bavarian schnitzel with spaetzl and red cabbage. Oh my, everything was delicious and plentiful. Tomorrow we board the Enchanted Princess. I definitely recommend eating here especially if you enjoy German food.

terrible, the worst food I've ever tasted, we couldn't eat it, we took it home, our dogs didn't want it either, an old waitress who served us was stressed, no politeness, the place was empty, millions of glasses hanging from the ceiling, everything was greasy, disgusting, everything was bad, rubbish

This place was Fantastic!! We lived in Germany 3 separate times, and this place gives an authentic feel of Germany 🇩🇪!!! The food and portions were wonderful, just like in Germany!!!!

Had a really really good time. I say at the bar during game 6 of the Stanley cup. 2024 and not only was the bartender engaging, friendly and overall cool. He took time to show me some German liquors and speak on many topics while I enjoyed my paprika schnitzel. I’ll be back this weekend to enjoy some more. Very good !

This classic is one of our favorites. We've tried German restaurants all over Florida but no one has yet to beat out our hometown favorite, Old Heidelberg! The staff are attentive and charming. The building is old but it's well loved. The food is outstanding, authentic, consistent, and delicious! The schnitzel is always fantastic as is the pork shank! The kitchen is creative about seasonal specials but never fails to come through on the standard mainstays. We love this place and find any special occasion we can to make our way over here!

Wouldn’t know, their hours are clearly listed open til 11pm and upon our arrival after graduation at 930 they refused service despite both Google and their website showing that they were open until 11 and despite what seemed like employees outside the front door guzzling beer.

We had the misfortune of getting a waitress who was apparently brand new. She was unfamiliar with the menu, the food and the wine. A manager apologized, but it was still an unwelcome experience. I had the stuffed pork, which had a great gravy, but was overcooked to the point of being mushy.

I've been eating here for 45 years It was pretty good. I miss my bartender. I don't know what happened to her.

Only good things to say. Meals were great! Service excellent! Pork chop was out of this world.

Delicious traditional German dishes. Everything was so fresh and I'm told by one of the chefs it's all made from scratch. I look forward to dining there again.

It was great. Food, beer, dessert, and service are all perfect. My daughter loved all the meals. Plus, the service was fast. For the dessert we had sponge cake,plum tart and apple strew.'ll visit here again.(not joking)

The food was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed the food. Once on take out and once in person. My in person visit was lacking in service, which is why I rated it as low as I did. We could tell our server forgot about us several times and got our order wrong. I ordered the potato soup with my meal and she brought me a lentil soup. After setting it down, she turned and left before I could even comment about the soup being wrong. She gave us our drinks in the beginning, and we didn't get a single refill until our food was almost done and only because I stopped her to ask. The table across from us had their waitress checking on them over 10 times before we finally saw our server. Once we were done and asked for the check, she got a bit impatient and started rushing us while my boyfriend was trying to look at the check total, and we were discussing paying cash or card. She asked us, " If we wanted her to do it or not." it just came across very rushed because he was just reading the receipt.

First time trying it. Cute restaurant. Food was ok, but several items lacked in flavor. Beer was good, but if you're not a beer drinker be prepared to pay. $27.00 for a long island ice tea!

Our family has been going to Old Heidelberg for 6 years. Great authentic German food and beer in the area. The ambiance is warm, friendly, and the service moves fast. You get a mixed crowd, which is great. We highly recommend.

Best German food I have in the whole USA. Nice owners. I recommend the Bavarian Schnitzel or the Chicken Strogonoff. Lunch time is very reasonably priced too

Highly recommend the Jagerschniztel here. Their music and atmosphere gives the feel of a summer bier Garten.

We received very good service during our tasty meal at Old Heidelberg. The beer tasted fresh, the potato pancakes were crispy, the sauerbraten had some tang, and the chicken marsala was generous proportioned and good. All of this in an ambiance that enhanced the experience. After years embarking cruises in Fort Lauderdale, we finally made it to this local dining institution, and we hope to make it back some day.

We had a nice evening meal here. The food was good, the beer was very good, & the service was better yet. I do recommend making a reservation if at all possible.

I had dinner here because it was very close to my hotel (where I was staying on March 21, 2024). I had the Bavarian Lamb Shank and Apple Strudel with ice cream. Also a German beer. It was all excellent. The waitress I had is from Germany and they play German music on the sound system.

A charming and delightful gem on St Rd 84. Ive been coming here for years. Family ran & oriented. A wonderful authentic German taste. We have never had a bad meal here and the menu is full of choices that will have you coming back for more.

Everything we've ordered has been excellent and they have a great selection of beers and great bartenders.

Very good food and service. Excellent menu and feeling. The food quality was great and the experience is amazing. You feel you are in Germany. The decoration and atmosphere is very inviting plenty of parking and great place overall. Great location and certainly understand why these people have been in business for the last 50 years.

Two of us ate at dinner at Old Heidelberg. It was located a short walk from our hotel in an unassuming building you might discount and drive by. Stop in. It's well worth it. Neither of us drink, so we were not able to rate the various beers. The woman who met us when we entered was very friendly as was our waiter. We were there on a Friday night. It was busy but not terribly so, and the service was very good. We had the sausage platter appetizer. The sausages were tasty, and it came with potatoes & sauerkraut that were also very good. One of us had the paprika schnitzel as our main course, and the other had the sauerbraten. There was plenty of food. Both were cooked well and were enjoyable. The schnitzel filled the entire plate. For dessert we shared the apple strudel with ice cream and whipped cream. The strudel was flaky and good. The ice cream not so much. It was bland and tasted as if it had been thawed and refrozen. We highly recommend Old Heidelberg.

Came to Fort Lauderdale to take a cruise. Decided to come to the Old Heidelberg for supper. Absolute best dinning decision! Our server Cindy/Gurtrude was absolutely great! Her ability to banter with us was fantastic. All her suggestions for meals were spot on as well. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience.

A great German place I mean atmosphere everything there's no restaurant here in Palm Beach county it's sad because the Latinos took over they don't support German food that's why we need to close the border we need food life back

Take some time on your way from FLL and stop in for an authentic German meal. The food is great, the service is great and the atmosphere is even better! All the traditional German dishes served in the traditional way. German beer on tap and musical entertainment to take you back to München in Oktober. zum Wohl!

I will eat there again food was terrible and service is no good

I stopped for a beer and a light lunch. I had been here once before and only had a beer. They have quite a few German beers on tap! I had a pilsner. I ordered Nuremberg sausages and they were delicious. I also ordered the Bavarian lamb shank to go for my wife. She was amazed at how tender the lamb was and the dumpling, mashed potatoes and crout were delicious. Michelle was tending bar and we had a very nice chat. She served my food at the bar and her service was excellent. Old Heidelberg is very authentic German food. I've been to Germany many times from Munich to Berlin and Hamburg to Duesseldorf. The food was every bit as good as any I've had in Germany. On my next visit, I'm ordering the Bavarian pork shank. My favorite in Germany is the pigs knuckle or schweinshaxe. I didn't see it on the menu but next time, I'll ask if they have it.

Great German food and good service

We never got to try the food because the hostess on Sunday night 3/3/24 was so grumpy, we left. She literally greeted us with, "It's 20 minutes to wait for a table. Do you want to sit at the bar?" That, after waiting to be greeted after standing in the foyer for several minutes. Maybe wearing a drindle makes you cranky? Did not appreciate the grouchy vibe.

For my first time trying real German food, it seems that I found a great place to do it.

we've been coming for years now. the service is always superb. Yvonne the hostess is so sweet. Our server, Sydney, gave excellent recommendations. Every time i come here, i always have to try something different. No matter what dish you order, the portions are hearty and you'll definitely enjoy your meal. The apple strudel is delicious. And of course, the german music they have piped in is fantastic. My dad and i had fun singing along to the songs while we were waiting for our food. :)

BEST German food we've ever had! My husband and I are visiting the area and stopped in here for dinner. Our waiter, Zoran, recommended the Bavarian schnitzel and beef stroganoff and topped the meal off with apple strudel... it was all amazing! Our only disappointment is that we can't transport this restaurant back home with us.

Best German food I've ever tasted! I got the Beef Stroganoff. Unbelievably good! As good as that was, the Bavarian schnitzel my wife ordered was even better!! Perfectly breaded pork covered with a mushroom cream sauce with swiss melted on top. It was absolutely incredible! We are visiting from out of state and are actually a little sad knowing we will never experience this delicious meal again. For people in the area, go, go, go! You won't regret it!

I love this restaurant, it is like stepping onto old village German restaurant. food is wonderful. Love schnitzel, chicken Stroganov, goulash. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to try real authentic German food. And almost forgot to mention THE BEER!!

I used to come here many years ago. Was in Ft. Lauderdale on vacation, so thought we'd try it for old time sake.. Service was slow and inattentive, Food was okay, but not great. Nobody ever came to check on us once the food was delivered. We had to track down our waitress to get the check. Brought us extra gravy without advising there was an extra cost. Cannot recommend.

You come here for the classic German cuisine and the somewhat amiable, curt service. Germans are not known for playing around being stupid people. For those looking to try beer from across the pond, there's nothing better than this extensive and carefully curated variety of German beers available on tap. The cuisine is directly out of Old Bavaria's guts. Red cabbage, pretzels, sauerbraten, schnitzels, kraut, potatoes, potato pancakes, and other foods were generally good, although they've changed a lot from what I recall from the past.

Fun! Do you need to be serenaded by an accordion while you eat? Do you need schnitzel? Do you need 60 Oz of beer? Look no further!! The food is unreal. The portions are huge. If you’re doing beers consider splitting one of the schnitzel dishes. Dinner comes with soup or salad, plus the meal with all sides included. They sometimes sell out of schnitzel (which is why you go imo), but the other food is respectable. You really can’t go wrong.

You go here for old school German food and the semi friendly curt service. Germans don’t mess around suffering fools do they? Vast, choice selection of German beers on tap - it doesn’t get better than this for those who want to sample beer for the other side of the pond. The food is simply straight from the bowels of Old Bavaria. Wurst, potatoes, potato pancakes, Schnitzels, Lamb Shanks, red cabbage, pretzels, sauerbraten etc were mostly alright but it’s a far cry from what I remember it used to be. It was a bit lacking like it had lost a bit of its soul and felt like it was put together by a weary chef at a place slowly in the decline and living in the shade of its former glory days. The desserts were slightly lacking, I’ve definitely had better Apfel Strudel / Black Forest cake elsewhere but the Cheesecake was superb (freshly made on premises). This place could definitely use some sprucing up with fresh energy and reinvent itself to match the times.

I doubted between 4 and 3 stars, they did not greet me and my child warmly, they only offered me a seat by the toilet or to look at the wall (whoever has a toddler understands that a child needs entertainment: looking out the window or at people). They said that there was not enough space for a high chair and it would be uncomfortable for people to walk around, but it was enough space, also they said good tables are reserved, in the end there was no one in our half and we sat by the toilet alone in this part of the hall. But I really liked the dishes, they were delicious. The prices here don’t match, they are about twice as much.

I used to live in Germany so I have an affection for German food my favorite plate is a German chicken schnitzel with mashed potatoes and gravy and a little bit of lemon sprinkled on this breaded chicken that's fried I believe it's simple and it's delicious and I come here when I have friends that appreciate the German food and culture

My first time here after almost 2 decades of driving by it and "meaning to check it out" The minute you walk in you feel like you're home. The menu is expensive and it was difficult to pick what to eat, everything looked so good. Went with the liver and onions, best I've ever had Prices, and especially service, were out of this world I can't wait to go back

I've been going here for years and never had a bad meal. Prices are very fair. However, I was there earlier this week on a chilly and ordered a coffee with Baileys Irish Cream and they charged me $11.50! Way out of line! I'll still eat there but I won't be ordering that again...

Last minute find and it was great. Old vibes, service was great and the food was good. Loved the beer too!
