At lunch while visiting the area. Ordered Hushpuppies and crab cake. Food was delicious and there was a great view of the marina.

Our favorite place for food and drinks at John's Pass.

I have celiacs disease and was a little nervous to eat here, but our waitress Amber was so kind, knowledgeable and made sure eating here was safe for me. They have a separate fryer for those with a gluten allergy. The food was amazing (I didn’t get sick) and the atmosphere is so fun. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Food was pretty good until i pulled a piece of hair out of my mouth. I was super disappointed. I had a crab cake patty which was pretty good but had a little spice to it due to the sauce on top. Waitresses were nice but the pipes leaked water from the roof and splashed our table.

Fries were the best of the items. Trout dip was good. Crab cakes were way too peppery. Not too spicy, they didn't taste good since blend wise. Fried grouper had zero seasoning at all. Scallops were cooked good, but not that well. Fish and chips also bland. Coleslaw bland, just wilted bland veg. Service was okay, he had a lot of tables to tend to at once, wasn't his fault. Atmosphere is fine, but not nearly as interesting as people said with them being all piratey. Saw nothing of the sort.

We went to Pirates Pub randomly in 2023, and I could not wait to go back this year. Absolutely the best steamers on Gulf Blvd.!!! We’re actually going back today. I was so happy with the food I tipped the cooks!!!

Was able to seat ourselves on dock. Took a long time to be greeted, and between every interaction was an excessive amount of time. Took a long time to get drinks, long time to be able to order food. Food was good but not work the wait.

I ordered a BLT and cole slaw. My son had the kids grilled cheese with fries. Our food was very good. Our server was very nice and took good care of us. I would definitely return!

I love this little place. It’s located on the boardwalk at Johns Pass. Service was good. They had one waitress trying to do everything by herself. I felt bad for her. She did good though. The food is really good. I have only had the burger and it was cooked perfect. The Setting and atmosphere is really cool inside. Makes you feel like you’re in the galley of a pirate ship.

Andrew was a great bartender and server! The views great and locals to visitors located on Madeira Beaches side of John's Pass Boardwalk, ice cream next door! Foods from local fresh fish and seafood and American fare. Delicious food and homemade French fries. Eat or drink inside or out and enjoy views of dolphins, and boats of everykind! Rentals of watercraft and tours like pirate ship are always great fun!!

Deck was awesome to sit at. Got to see plenty of dolphins and even a pirate ship docking. Burger and fries were good, but the star of the show was the rum runner. Absolutely fantastic and delicious! Service was also good as well.

This place was a great find! I had the mussels, which were some of the best I've ever had. Friends had the grouper, which was also delicious. Great onion rings, fries, and drinks. Plus the waiter we had ws awesome. Don't let the diveyvatmosphere make you pass this by.

Thought this was a tourist place for families.... Got kicked out because my kids brought ice cream with them while we were waiting to be served outside🙄 Used to be my favorite... Not anymore!

Went here on a Friday evening based on all the good reviews. It may have been a fluke, but our service was the worst we’ve had in the area. We sat outside and it took forever to get served, although there was only two tables seated inside. Once we ordered, food took a while to come out, but I’ll admit, the burger and fries were very very good. Prices were reasonable. If service were better, this could be a 5/5 dinner spot.

We had a late supper here on vacation. The food was great and there was plenty of it! Drinks were just right!

Got sat quickly were a big party. Waitress did a wonderful job. Drink were good food was extremely good!

Definitely not what we expected. The calamari was absolutely awful- the worst we have ever had. The kids hot dogs were burnt and not anything special. Our special grouper sandwiches were burnt and way over done, this place is definitely a miss ….we won’t be back….

We went there this evening after reading great reviews. Food was good but not as expected. As for the service, it was not so great. Our server, the only server so it seemed never came to ask how our food was and never came to offer refills of our water. I have to add that I noticed this server was constantly on his smartphone.

The service here is horrible. Me and my family (of 5) have been wait 2 and a half hours for our food when they told us there was no wait to sit. Larger families (who got here before us) got their food and finished before we have been served. Will not be coming back.

Food was good, unfortunately they were severely short staffed. Long wait times and since so busy, server forgot to put two of the orders in. She was super nice and apologetic.

Yum! A great place to stop for appetizers! We had the fish spread and conch fritters! Both were excellent t!!

Alligator nuggets were overcooked and there were only maybe a dozen little way overpriced pieces. The atmosphere was terrific and the staff was very nice.

Second time coming in to dine here tried the Blue-cheeseburger last time for lunch and, it was “amazing” lol. So , I decided to come back and dine with family . The customer service has been consistent every time . The two young men servers “Connor “and “Bishop” have great spirits and are really awesome servers and food came out “fresh and respectfully fast”“hard to find these days “ lol. The atmosphere is clean ,lively and fun . The women’s bathroom has an immaculate elephant on the wall to draw your attention. Tried the seafood platter and for country girl , I was quite impressed. Lol Try this modern day , family oriented spot with the pirate statues for the family outing or a business lunch … And ask for Bishop or Connor ❤️❤️❤️😎😎😎

Great food and great service! Literally a hidden treasure! Our server, Alex, was the best and made sure our drinks were full and got our food out to us quick! Make sure to stop here and eat when you’re in the Treasure Island area!!

What a fun place! While shopping at John's Pass, we stumbled upon this cool little place and it turned out to be a great dining experience. The pirate-themed decor was right up our alley setting the stage for a memorable meal with a swashbuckling atmosphere! Starting off with calamari as an appetizer was a fantastic choice. The entrees continued to impress. My husband opted for the crab cake, and I went for the fried shrimp – both choices were spot-on. The crab cake had that delightful balance of tender crab meat and savory seasonings, while the fried shrimp boasted a super crunch exterior. Both are served with hand-cut fries! My only complaint was the shrimp were slightly on the greasy side. Adding to the overall enjoyment of our visit were the servers who, true to the pirate theme, were super fun and friendly. It's always a pleasure when the staff goes beyond just serving food, creating an atmosphere that enhances the overall enjoyment of the meal. If you're ever in the area and crave a quick bite with a side of entertainment, this place is a must-visit. Arrr, matey, you won't be disappointed!

For a bar and grill to be here this long it is really well keep up. Service is fast and friendly great views as well. I had a burger and gator bites.

Most awesome fries and blackened grouper tacos! Hubby had grilled shrimp skewers and they were good. Love the outdoor scenery Will definitely return

This is more than the typical tourist trap you would expect along the pier. The food was of decent quality although the portion size was a bit larger than average. The staff and environment is what makes it gold. The staff treats everyone like locals they have seen many times before. Good job ladies! FAFO

Phenomenal atmosphere! The best coconut shrimp on the island (believe me - we tried all other restaurants) Great food in general. Great staff! Low noise level for your sensitive kiddos. Overall, best experience on the island :)

Wandered in here while walking around John’s Pass on Mediera Beach and were blown away by the amazing service, food and drinks! They really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and accommodated. Kelsey was our server and she was just outstanding, but they really had a team concept and everyone on staff stopped by our table with a helpful suggestion, a smile and to check on us during our visit. We started with the smoked fish spread which was incredible, and added hush puppies for the table. I got the lobster roll and was so excited at the generous portion of flakey delicious lobster on it. My wife had the fried shrimp. The sides are scratch made and all awesome. This place is a MUST visit if you are in the area!

Stopped by to look at the menu. I had a sore throat and was looking for soup. A server was very rude when we asked her about soup and dismissive with us when we decided to check out the place she recommended for soup! We were going to go back for lunch but after that encounter we decided that server turned us off the place all together. Too bad we are having a family reunion and all of us was going to go to pirates. Not anymore!

I sat there the other afternoon and had a couple of drinks and some fries and a salad. The guy dressed up as a pirate was hilarious and really made it fun! He's a great worker! He brought in so many people off the boardwalk to buy drinks. He's a keeper!! Also a great place to watch the dolphins swimming around in the river!

The rest of the meal was better than average pub food. But the fries were the best we've ever had. The pirate ambiance was fun. They have all kinds of things dressed up as pirates hanging around the place. Took stars off due to being understaffed and wait time for anything was way too long. Staff was more interested in tending to the bar than the tables. We will try them again and if service is improved I will update. Edit: Now that google has added the ability to rate specific services, the overall experience is five stars. The service is still a little lacking. This restaurant has a LOT of traffic and it seems to be a challenge for whoever writes the schedule to staff it properly.

In the area for our honeymoon…wife found it while looking for things while we were driving down…3 words…fried lobster tacos…that is all…

Great little place on John's Pass! Great food!

While the scallops were done to perfection, it would have been nice to have them served over rice instead of shedded lettuce. They were fork tender and perfectly seasoned. The lemon strawberry hard cider is definitely one to try in lieu of beer. The lava drink was perfect for the end of a hot day. Our waiter was from NY and we ran into another couple from our NY area as well. Kudos to the waiter, chef and bartender!!!

Yo Ho Ho I love Pirates Pub! Shane behind the bar made me feel extra welcome and even taught me an old Tampa sea shanty! Love the friendly staff at Pirates 10/10

Brilliant food. Great service and superb view over the marina. We ate outside but inside is really nice and would have been happy to sit inside too. Can't wait to return on our next holiday

5 STAR across the board!! Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Drinks...OMG the drinks were unbelievably good!! We had the Gator bites...so tender. We also had the smoked fish dip...to die for!! We could not get enough of that. Excellent place to relax and people watch, plus the water is so beautiful along with the pelicans and dolphins...so cool! A must go spot!☆☆☆☆☆

The pirates were very friendly and super welcoming, the food was very quickly served and we all loved what we ordered…The Philly, the Gyro special, and my favorite Crab Cake! Andrew was great as our waiter.

The bartender is shady and tried to give us a well drink when we ordered a premium drink. Then he tried to upcharge for the olive juice!

The food was okay. Salads are small and don’t even come with cheese for $9. The dressings aren’t made in house, so stay clear from everything but ketchup . The lobster roll was good, but the meat was cold while I am used to warm. Would have been nice to know before I ordered. Our appetizer came out after our main course meal. Atmosphere is cool and the staff were very nice. This was our first and last coming to this place as it didn’t impress us.

Atmosphere 10 if you are into the Pirate Life. Maria and the gang is Awesome. Was my kiddos B day and she gave him a little rubber ducky, made his afternoon. Great beer selection, good food. Pasta Salad awesome and recommend the black and Bleu burger. No baby changing table in bathroom, but some awesome artwork with the Karen's. Touchtunes is always fun

This is a hidden gem. It's located on an elevated boardwalk that looks out to the beautiful John's Pass in Maderia Beach ,Florida....you can sit and watch the boats come in and out and the raising of a huge drawbridge to allow the big boats in. You can have a drink or a sandwich. Affordable, and really authentic looking pirate type establishment...neat to see. I'm going back!!

Alex was our server, she was very helpful. Great atmosphere, great views of the water but most importantly is the food and service. OUTSTANDING. Gator Bites, crab cakes and grouper tacos... amazing. Highly recommend.

Pretty good food, fun ambiance along the boardwalk (biker vibes in the restaurant), and great service. A tad bit overpriced, and the menu listed online showed the prices being cheaper so they weren’t up to date.

After a bad experience at another food joint in John's pass (John's pass Grill) we had a great experience at pirates pub! We ate inside because of high winds and light showers and it was packed. I know why! The food was amazing. My mom got the blackened burger and I got the Philly cheese steak. We were stuffed and couldn't stop eating! Service was great and it was a great vibe and environment. Kids enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend stopping here for a bite

Really good food and a very entertaining bartender.

50 minutes for our food to arrive and they didn't bring the fish and chips for my daughter. Waiter honestly said "I forgot to put it in" and I replied can it be fast or what is the fastest thing she can get which he replied Grilled Cheese or Hot Dog. He went on to say "Not worth the wait for the fish and chips at this point". What restaurant does and says this? I was a waiter 25 years ago and we had a thing called the JUMP IN FRONT OF ALL TICKETS for the one plate that was the restaurants error. I was so shocked I didn't say that but I wish I would have. My wife also was a waitress a few decades ago and can't believe that. Highly recommend you avoid this place if they are busy. Oh, and my grilled grouper platter was the smallest serving. To be fair on the rest, my other daughters burger was good and my wife salad was OK which is why 2 stars. But, never will I return. I suggest you avoid as well. So surprised Trip Advisor had it ranked higher as I usually find them more accurate, but Google has them ranked lower and now I know why. They need be bottom of the list.

Probably the worst service on johns pass. Waiters and bartenders have no clue how to serve. Waited almost a hr and a half to order a appetizer. Dont recommend if you dont like waiting 3 hrs for a mediocre meal.

We were in Madeira Beach walking the boardwalk and decided to have a light lunch. We stopped at The Pirates Pub and Grub, It has outdoor seating overlooking the intercostal waterway. Very simple menu, lots of sea food along with burgers and wraps. The service was great, very attentive. Our food was excellent, portions were just right. We didn't go inside so not sure how much seating they had inside. We finished our meal and there was no push to get us out of there, we sat and had seconds on our beverages and did some people watching and soaking up some sun. The parking in the area is tight and expensive if you don't get a city run spot or lot. The private parking runs over 15 bucks for two hours.

Food was very good. Portions were a little small. I had the garlic skewered shrimp. Excellent taste and texture. Service was fast and friendly.

Very friendly atmosphere with great food and good vibes old pub setting and great views of the water. I had the BLT and fries which came out looking like a burger no complaints here it was very filling and cooked to perfection!!! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Stopped by twice in 3 days. Chatted with the bartender Jeffrey the first day - he made us feel welcome and even gave us a peek at his talent for flair with the bottles and mixing cups, total awesomeness! Lunch the next time was a delicious bacon cheddar burger with fries, and a fish and chips basket with fries and coleslaw. Fun place, good food, awesome staff - way to go guys!

Best local hangout for a good food and of course cocktails! The bartender is quite the guy doing all kinds of bartending tricks while making your drinks. Wonderful atmosphere, inside and outside seating. If you want to have a good time, this is the place!

The waiter lied about which beer was $4.00 a beer then brought the bill and it was crazy.

Food was great...really great. Staff was friendly and helpful even though they were very busy. A cut above the other establishments on John's Pass.

I don’t normally get mad, but this was infuriating. We had a table outside and we all got our $25 bloody Mary’s. We stood up for maybe 30sec to take a picture as a family, and during this time they threw away all of our full Bloody Mary’s and when we asked what happened they said, “you weren’t there, nothing we can do.” And they did nothing to help, and we tipped them well when we bought them. I was very nice and just walked away. But what a terrible experience.

The view and people watching at the outside seating was the best part of our visit. Food was mediocre. Friends we were with said quality was better in previous years. Maybe that's why the place still has 4+ stars??
