This place has become our must go-to soondubu spot for me and my friend whenever visiting LA! It never disappoints, and always looking forward to going back for the goodness.

I was traveling and wanted to get some soon tofu and this place was excellent. Coming from Utah, where Korean cuisine has gotten ridiculously expensive for the mid-tier quality, this place was amazing and reasonably priced (though I'm not sure how it compares to the rest of LA). I thought the service was great too and will be back.

Wonderful authentic Korean food. My friend recommended this place and was very glad that I tried it! The establishment isn't flashy and could easily be overlooked, but once you enter, you can tell that the restaurant is very good due to the fact that it was packed in there. There was a constant flow of people entering and exiting. We ordered the bibembop on a hot bowl. The side dishes were amazing and instead of water, we were given a pitcher of cold green tea. Loved that! Service was wonderful and the food was tasty and delicious!

Came here specifically to try the black soy bean tofu everyone says is great but they said they were out... Of course I understand that places run out of stuff but if that's your whole thing it seems like an issue. Super disappointing. The regular tofu was fine but I could've gotten that any of a million other places in the immediate area.

Fantastic flavours, great service, and reasonable pricing. I see why this place is so highly recommended. The inside is unassuming, but bustling with many guests. Of note, the combo soontofu is a small bowl, so if you’re attempting to do family style it may feed 2 people + your main protein. The soontofu is very rich in flavor, and some of the best we’ve had - compared to Toronto. They give a good variety of banchan and will refill as requested. The kimchi was a bit sweet, very fresh, and much less salty/fishy. They have free parking behind the restaurant that fits close to 20 vehicles and plenty of street parking in front. This will be a staple whenever we visit LA

I've always loved Surawon, but the last 10 times I've ordered on Uber Eats, maybe 4 times they've forgotten to pack the Kaibi I ordered. Last night was the worst. I ordered a lot and realized the appetizers seems old, the broccoli was mushy and bad and I spit it out. Hoping it wouldn't be too bad. I've been vomiting and out all day. I will never eat here again. So poorly run and to keep serving probably 1 week old apps and giving food poisoning is just unforgivable. Will not order here again. I bought this for my spouse and 2 year old. I'm really hoping my daughter doesn't get food poisoning too (she ate less of the appetizers)

My favorite soondubu place! Korean restaurants don't usually have much vegan banchan but Surawon always has plenty of options, usually at least 4 out of the 6 or so banchan are vegan. My favorites are the firm tofu and seaweed. The mushroom, seaweed, and veggie soondubu, as well as the japchae, bibimbap, and pajeon can all be made vegan, and everything is excellent. Service is quick and friendly!

The service was great, and the food was even better. From the outside, it's not easily noticeable that it's a restaurant. But once inside, the staff are terse but very welcoming. The tables and chairs don't have much flair. It felt like a cafeteria. Every table is close to each other, so it's an intimate dining experience. If you can get past that, the food makes you forget about the sterile like environment. Your taste buds just transport you to another place, a place where bellies are fulfilled and smiles on faces are everywhere.

It brings tears to my eyes as I write this review on the eve of my move out of LA. I’ve probably eaten here over 50 times in the last 10 years and can confidently say this is a top 3 favorite restaurant in SoCal for me. Surawon is not your fancy “pinkies up” type of place. It is the home to the most delicious, authentic and welcoming Korean food that only a Korean mom and grandma with decades of excellence, love, and care can produce. The star is the thick-cut Galbi - smoky, sweet, savory, and incredibly juicy from what can only be premium, highly marbled beef. The other star is the large offering of banchan - each executed perfectly and with a different flavor profile that can balance any meal. Of course the brand is centered on the soondubu, which blends a rich and flavorful broth with generous portion of fresh tofu. The service is truly 5/5. It didn’t matter if the restaurant was full or empty, the ajummas always served you with a smile and made sure your banchans were replenished. After so many meals here, I can go on for a very long time about the great memories I’ve had at Surawon. But I’ll stop and let whoever is reading this make their own memories and hope that when I come back in a few years, this wonderful place is still around, unchanged.

Came on a busy Friday night and it took about 45 minutes to get seated for a party of 2. It is very small inside so that explains the wait. The employees are running around everywhere and you have to keep stopping them if you need anything. They never come to your table if you need anything so for service I’d give a 2/5. The food comes out within 10 minutes of ordering and comes out piping hot. Very tasty just wish the meat portions were bigger.

Incredibly delicious and authentic culinary experience. Every dish surpassed expectation. Not being too well-versed in Korean food, I admittedly felt a bit overwhelmed when first seated as the tables around me were filled with a variety of beautiful dishes and the menu was extensive. The thoughtful, friendly server woman noticed I was a little lost with the menu, so she took time to learn about my preferences and then walked me through the menu, finding me several dishes that fit my tastes. Every dish was truly outstanding! The Korean pancake and the short ribs stole the show, but it’s the kimchi I’ve been dreaming about. Best kimchi I’ve ever had! Despite the food being out of control delicious, the most memorable part of the experience was the above-and-beyond customer service. I was on a business trip to LA while eating here and forgot to take my receipt to get some of the price of the meal reimbursed by my employer so I called the restaurant the next day. To my surprise, the owner of the restaurant graciously spent time searching for my order in the computer and eventually emailed me a copy of my receipt. This level of customer service is so rare now a days. I can’t express my gratitude for the amazing flavors and customer service. I will be going to Surawon Tofu House every time I go back to LA. It really doesn’t get any better than this place!

Peace out BCD, I've finally found someone better than you and I'm never looking back. If you've never tried Surawon before, you need to re-evaluate your life choices and head on over. The tofu tastes distinctly different than any other restaurant's tofu. I can't put my finger on it, but it definitely tastes superior than the competition's. The seafood pancake was a little thinner than I would have liked, but it was nevertheless delicious. I'm sure everyone's talked about it, but they serve very fresh kimchi here. Every Korean has their kimchi preferences so I won't recommend this style to everyone but I'm definitely a fan of it. If you're accustomed to spicy food, I would size up on the spicy level. I ordered the Medium but it just wasn't cutting it. One of my friends ordered a X Spicy tofu but it just tasted Spicy to me. I don't know if a taqueria occupied this space before Surawon, but I felt like I was in a Mexican pueblo with the cactus chandelier and the shelves that looked perfect for a religious candle to be placed. There isn't anything bad about this, but I was getting weird vibes from the clashing of cultures.

We just tried this place for the first time and it was great! TLDR - food is great and they have clearly labeled and tasty vegetarian options, which can be a rare find. My partner and I are both vegetarians and have had trouble finding options at authentic Korean places in the past. Not only did surawon tofu house have a bunch of options denoted on the menu (esp. helpful if you’re trying to avoid tricky things like fish sauce), but the food was excellent! We came with a group who ordered some meaty things, but for veg options we had: - stone pot bibimbap with tofu and veggies - super delicious, loved the crispy rice, and you can crack an egg into it that cooks on the hotpot. The sauce is delicious! - the combo with veg/leek pancake and soon tofu - pancake was savory and delicious with yum dipping sauce, the stew was a little bland IMO but the soft tofu was a great texture I also asked which of the banchan were vegetarian, and all but the fish cakes were. We’ll definitely be back!

Best kimchi I ever had in LA! Their tofu soup is also iconic and has very rich flavor, made with tofu made in house! The grill spicy bbq pork is the best one, the taste and flavor is amazing and can't be found at any other places! Highly recommended!

Surawon tofu house has phenomenal food. The banchan is always delicious. They always have some new different ones mixed in there that taste delicious. The vegetable leek pancake is crispy and full of fresh veggies. I love the soondubu. It’s to die for. The restaurant itself isn’t what I would call cozy, but it’s all about the amazing food.

They serve a choice of results tofu or black bean tofu and have water base as an option for the broth. I would not say anything is vegan here but maybe- asking and making sure would be the best bet. Great tasting soups - soon. Parking lot is not that great at all but it’s LA nothing new with that.

Tofu soup is as good as it used to be at the now defunct Beverly Soon Tofu.

Excellent Soon do Fu and Korean Specialty dishes. Fresh Tofu made in-house. Very Tasty. Only thing is, the decor leaves a lot to be desired. Parking in the back. No reservations, so sometimes there's a wait.

This place is fantastic. Soon do bu is extremely tasty. Don’t be alarmed by it’s exterior shabby look.

delicious soondobu! The banchon were really good, cucumbers lightly sweet pickled, solid fresh kimchi, acorn jelly and bean sprouts. I had the kimchi and pork soondobu with black bean tofu, it was warming and delicious. The soup portion was perfect for one person and came with rice. My friend was in town and needed a vegetarian option. She was very happy with her soup, it didn’t lack flavor and wasn’t just water (like other places offer). Her soup was full of vegetables and delicious. We also got a leek pancake which was made fresh to order, chewy and crispy.
