If I could leave zero stars I would. This was my experience this afternoon… I had reservations here at 4:30 this afternoon for two, for my son’s birthday. We had reviewed the menu in advance and were very excited about dining here as I had heard great things. Unfortunately my son ordered a sparkling wine ($14) and asked that it be served with the two appetizers we had ordered. (Crab cakes and the Korean BBQ bacon). The waitress immediately brought it to the table, put it right down and left. As my son wanted his drink with the appetizers, he didn’t drink it and requested a new one when she finally came back by our table. She came back less than a minute later with the drink and our appetizers. Unfortunately, she brought the same drink back. When it was brought up she denied it. We then repeated that she had and she denied it again. A small bread crumb had been put in the glass before it went back to ensure we didn’t get the same glass. An annual occasion for my son’s birthday was ruined over a $14 drink that the waitress couldn’t have re-poured. The bill would have been high as we had already decided on two of the specials (Waygu and Lobster tail) as well as the hash browns with caviar as one of our sides. The other side hadn’t been decided yet. We both planned on desert as well. Instead we left as a result of the servers actions. We were never anything but polite. To have a server bold-face lie was the most disrespectful dining experience I’ve ever had, particularly in a high end restaurant. The manager’s response in the way out was to apologize and say “I”ll take care of it”. Not sure what that means. But it’s not like a mistake was simply made. She had intent and lied, double downed on her lie and her only response was to say I’m sorry when we explained how we knew. Very disappointing.

Made reservations for my birthday dinner here tonight. Server was unenthusiastic. I requested to have a drink with my appetizer and they brought it out early. I asked to have a fresh one and did not drink from the initial glass. The server had the audacity to bring out the exact same drink, place it in front of me, and claim it was new. All while it still had a small bread crumb I had placed in it to assure they brought me a new beverage. Then the server repeatedly lied about it being new until it was pointed out to her. Absolutely disgusting. Also I’m pretty sure it’s a violation to bring out rejected food or beverage and attempt to reserve it so I will be following up on that as well.

I gave this 4 stars because while there was 8 of us and overall everything was great We were celebrating my husband's 75th birthday and we ordered a strip to share. The steak came out so rare that it had to go back Came our again and one end was still to rare and the other end well done and no taste whatsoever. Weren't even comped a drink Our waitress was like sorry to hear this Have to think about going there again.

Customer service was amazing The food was nice but nothing new The atmosphere was okay, it was crowded and noisy ( I guess it’s a hot spot) and we were the only black people while we were there I got a complimentary dessert as it was my birthday, which was really sweet. Again, the customer service was top notch Over all it’s a nice place like most restaurants are.

Excellent service and food always

My wife and I went last night to celebrate our first anniversary and the upcoming birth of our child, and Philip Holcombe really knocked it out of the park for us. The wait staff was perfect, the hostess was lovely and the meal was delicious and fresh. I had the balsamic bone in rib eye, my wife had the citrus salmon and both were perfection on a plate. The experiences were romantic and sophisticated. Thank you to all at Capital Grille for a truly memorable experience.

I've been coming to Capital grill for many years. In many spots around the country. Service was great but the food was marginal. Steak over cooked. Both sides were badly seasoned.

The Capital Grille at Intl Plaza is ideal for a celebration or a business lunch. The menu selection is limited with basic fare, including steak, chicken, salmon, and salads. Also, some nice appetizers and desserts. Not a place to come if you want seafood, vegetarian, or creative chef options, but the food is consistently perfectly prepared, nicely plated, and well-proportioned. The vibe is quiet, sophisticated, and comfortable.

Bill was awesome as our wait staff. He really knew his wine selection. It wasn’t from memorization it was first-hand knowledge! We most definitely will be returning.

The service is always so impressive. The food is excellent too. The only reason I gave it 4 stars for the food is that there are places that are slightly better. But you can guarantee an exceptional experience every time you go to Capital Grille. No risk dining.

We ate at the bar and I had Sea Bass and it was perfect, my wife had Scallops & Lobster also perfect. The bar was busy but Michael & Jordan gave us courtesy and plenty of their time, ensuring us a great dinner and a nice evening

I can say this was one of the worst experiences I've had while entertaining a party of two others. We were seated outside as requested and were forgotten over time. We requested an inside seating due to the elements and the flies. We didn't get the opportunity to have that request met. But another patron that sat an hour after our party was granted an inside seating with no hesitation. Flies were landing in our water and bread, causing an inconvenience. Our cups, plates, and silverware were not sanitary. Our drinking water had flies and specks of food debris. No refills were given. I ordered the citrus glazed salmon, and it was overcooked and dry. The star of our dishes was mashed potatoes. I did leave a tip out of good graces, leaving my total to $98. Honestly, I've had better service on door dash even when I don't receive my order.

Had the pleasure of running into Preston and being served by Fredrick. They were both so hospitable. I will definitely be returning. Great service and great food.

Where do I start? The disappointment is on so many levels. I only share this information in hopes that the management will see this and correct these shortcomings to improve service to match the environment and price. Its been years since I've dined here. I understand cultivating a team can be very difficult so I will be direct. Arrived at 10:58. The west doors were locked. Several people tried continuously to open these doors up until 11:05 to no avail. (I was on a call standing out front to witness this). At one point, everyone realized that the other doors toward the valet were in fact open and there were already people seated and being served at the bar. When we walked in to the middle of the dining room and found our way to host desk I mentioned that the doors on the side were locked, a woman at the desk argued with me (with a smile on her face) and said that they were unlocked precisely at 11. It should be noted that I was standing right there at 11 and no one came out to open the door and greet the customers that were standing there with me. There was also no sign to encourage guests to enter through the side doors. Moving on, a gentleman escorted us to our table, and from there it was a pleasure until the food arrived. The dining room is beautiful, very clean and reminds me of the popular upscale steak houses up north. One salad was ordered without bacon, served covered in bacon, the other, a cobb, was swimming in dressing. I have never seen a Cobb tossed to begin with and this was a horrible presentation. It truly looked as though it was dropped on the floor and scooped up onto the plate. My guest did not realize her salad was overly dressed until she got into it and decided not to complain because they already took one dish back and did not want to cause a problem or distract from our attempt at a first class dining experience.....when in fact they had already clearly missed the presentation of the first salad which was the 'special', a wedge with a tenderloin (which was perfectly cooked by the way). I do not mind spending $40 for a salad and ice tea for a quick lunch with a very special guest but please elevate your attention to detail. Signs out front, expedite the line (with someone qualified) and for god sake put professionals on the door. I will not be back. M

We hadn’t been to Capital Grille in a while and were eager to try the one closest to us since we moved here. It did not disappoint. Nick, our server was fantastic. It’s simply the best.

One of the best of Tampa. The service was the best I’ve/ we’ve ever had! My dinner and the sides were fantastic! We were there celebrating a birthday, and let’s just say they took care of the birthday girl. I won’t go into details to avoid unreasonable expectations on Capital Grille, but they went above a beyond! We called over the manager to further compient the waitress and he was extremely kind as well. This was my first time at Capital Grille, but I’ll certainly be back!

Recently had a wonderful experience here. The staff went above and beyond, the food was wonderful and I felt extremely well accommodated. Would highly recommend the Lobster Mac and Cheese.

This has been our go to steakhouse for special occasions for the last 10 years. Both food and service have been consistently excellent. However, the atmosphere is just ok.. It’s quieter than Bern’s but not as elegant as Eddie V’s. Like most fine steak houses all their food is a’ la carte. One of the must try side dishes if you’ve never had it before is their lobster mac & cheese. I was a doubter until I tried it and now it is a must have each time we go. While my wife prefers the fillet, i would highly recommend their Bone-In Kona Crusted Dry Aged NY/KC Strip With Shallot Butter. A few times a year they also have a special called the Generous Pour. For approximately $45 per person (with a meal) you have unlimited refills on about six different wines (both white and reds are offered). There are a lot of nice steakhouses in the Tampa Bay area that offer a great meal. This one is worth working into your rotation.

Steady Freddy – They deliver a consistent quality of food and service everywhere they are. The four of us enjoyed salads, beef, lamb, and chicken with 3 massive side dishes – more food than we could eat (so, some take home bags). The lamb was especially good – huge portion, cooked correctly, with just the right amount of fat layer. It’s easy to get used to their consistency and forget that they set a high standard in dining experience.

After a disastrous dinner in Indianapolis, I had a fantastic meal at Capital Grille in Tampa! The steaks, cocktails and service were flawless.

This was my first time eating here, and I ordered a dry-aged New York strip steak. Unfortunately, the steak was cooked to the point of being burnt and charred, which ruined the flavor but still medium rare. I couldn't finish it. When the waiter asked about our experience, I was honest about the steak, and he was very polite. I declined a replacement from the menu, as I didn't want to risk disliking the substitute dish and stay far after closing. As an apology, the waiter brought us a small dessert for the inconvenience. The waiter was very kind and really made the experience. The bill came to $180, which I feel doesn't reflect the quality of the food I received. However, the mashed potatoes were amazing, and the salmon was cooked well. Perhaps I was just unlucky with my steak.

Took my husband out here for Fathers Day- The staff was friendly- we did have a reservation- They were out of the scallops I wanted so I got the filet mignon with the lobster tails and it did not disappoint- 2nd steak in my life Ive eaten that didn’t require A1- the Brussel sprouts were seasoned well bit a little under done for me- The cheesecake and mashed potatoes were super good as well- oh and I had the french onion soup delicious!!

A nice Father's Day meal, I must say! Capital Grilles meat is delicious cured and aged perfection! Prices are okay for what you're getting and the taste was impeccable!! Thanks for a well cooked piece of Strip @ Medium rare perfection. Mashed potatoes enough for 2 and Brussels sprouts good but a little under cooked they seemed and a little salty, use low sodium soy sauce or less and add soon balsamic vinaigrette to them and Parmesan sprinkle at the end! The cheese cake was so delicious, a little rich...but OMG for the two of us! Would def recommend this place for seafood and steaks! The Mojito passion fruit was a good dinner drink the wife mentioned and her filet and lobster was Great and no need for A1...LOL

We celebrated our 45th anniversary and we were lucky enough to have Fredrick Jones as our waiter. He was very friendly and attentive and made our day extra special. The food at Capital Grille is always delicious and consistent. That is why we will go back time after time for special occasions.

Prosciutto wrapped mozzarella - I wouldn't order this again. The mozzarella from Rocca has ruined me for life on mozzarella/tomatoes. The cheesy crostini was hard AF. Cocktail Shrimp - well done. Large, nicely chilled Tenderloin + Lobster - this was pretty good as well. One of the tenderloins was a little smallish (or maybe the other was a little largish ), but flavorful and the lobster was clean with a good texture. Cobb + steak - the way it's mixed already leaves the salad a little soggy. The cracker bread is weird. It's almost like just eating a bigass piece of matzo. The food was pretty good The service was really good - Melissa and Stephen - helpful, attentive and pleasant.

Celebrated my sister's birthday, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. I loved the thick cut bacon appetizer it was salty, sweet, and savory. I will be back just for that.

The steak was cooked perfectly , the cream spinach was a little weak not to interesting, the shrimp cocktail was refreshing , loved that it had a bagged lemon for the perfect squeeze , the inside had a wonderful atmosphere very toned down and dark, suited waiters looks professional, and they have this amazing eagle sculpture center front of the kitchen , was the highlight that added the most to the appearance with four different time zones clocked above it ... The bread basket was kinda lame haha

There is really no other place to splurge for a nice (celebratory) dinner. My family and I come annually (at min) and always have the best time. The service is phenomenal and Brandon was extraordinary! I highly recommend this place for work or pleasure.

Fantastic experience with Nicholas P., he gave us outstanding service! He paid attention to every detail-very impressive! Surprised my son with a graduation celebration table decoration and dessert. Our food was delicious! Steak cooked perfectly!

I was a little disappointed in the food quality

Celebrated our 34 anniversary and the experience was absolutely perfect.

This my first time having a bad experience here being that I’ve been here at least 6 times. I noticed customers that sat down at least minutes after us received cocktails and appetizers and I still hadnt received mine. The only reason I give 4 stars is because I had to ask another waiter for a manager being that after 30 minutes I hadn’t received my drinks or appetizer! He fixed the problem with the snap of a finger. The waiter got it together asap! She became for attentive and instead of coming to check on us every 25 minutes she began to come more like every 10-15 minutes which is great! I appreciate the improved sufficiency.

Food and service were top tier. We had the pleasure of dining for Mother's Day. Everything was good even though I sent my lamb chops back, and my husband sent his steak back because they were both overcooked. The manager made sure we were satisfied when they both were recooked as well as removed both items from our bill. I think that was top-tier customer service. Our waitress Shabonne was very attentive and delivered excellent customer service. We look forward to returning again. The food and service were great! Lastly, they gave us a parting gift, a cute candle. That was so nice

It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for! Everything is a la carte. Steaks are tender and excellent. Sides are large enough for 3-4 people to share. The scalloped potatoes and the Brussels sprouts were both excellent. They provide a nice dessert for special occasions. Service was great.

Dropped in for lunch. Usually only eat at the Capital in the evenings. The lunch menu was really good, lots to choose from, and the food came up quick. Service was perfect and couldn't have been better. Cocktails made amazingly good. Will go back here again when we are next in Tampa.

The food was fantastic. The service was also excellent. All of the steaks came out perfectly prepared and we really enjoyed the desserts. This is the place. We will definitely come back to. It does get very busy, so you do need to make a reservation.

We went there for a business lunch in one of the upstairs private rooms. The service was great, the food was good, the location was convenient, and there was plenty of easy parking. We plan to visit again.

My husband and I dined here this afternoon for lunch. The salads were good, the crème brûlée was tasty. However, the service was borderline poor. I had to ask for a drink refill several times, as did my husband. It felt like obvious things to do for service were not taken care of, which for the ‘fine dining’ expectation, this was shameful. My husband said his coconut cream pie was a 3/10, wouldn’t recommend. It will be a long time before we consider this again- too expensive to have to beg to be helped.

It was my first time going and let me say! Keith & Angelica were amazing! Their attention to detail, care and knowledge was top notch! To feel like you belong and are just as important as the next customer, that’s top notch service right there. Celebrated our anniversary and can’t wait to go back!

This is maybe my 6th or 7th time coming here. Each time has outdone the last. Absolutely amazing service, my steak was cooked to perfection, and the ambience of the restaurant is always immaculate. If I could rate higher I would.

Wedge salad is a generous portion and served perfectly crisp and chilled. Had to keep my silverware after salad for entree since they don’t mark with new silverware I guess. The dry aged strip steak was cooked perfectly med rare, as requested. However, I asked for salt to season the steak and side of spinach. Very tender but flavor of the meat was a 6 out of 10. Before the salad arrived, I ordered a whiskey soda and it remained full through the entire meal. I asked about it not having any soda thinking maybe he forgot and made a whiskey with water but the bartender dismissed me by immediately saying it had soda and then he poured a splash of soda on top which remained a flat drink still. I just left it. After receiving my check, I asked for a glass of water. No one asked me about the drink that just sat there. They did a great job boxing the leftovers though and service was polite. Not too awful of an experience for a mall restaurant.

Don’t typically write reviews but I want to start giving people their flowers more. Upon entry, we were greeted by a sweet and confident host - She addressed me by name and said happy birthday upon locating my reservation - Thank you Kirsten! Coming from a restaurant background, I subconsciously count the minutes it takes to be greeted once sat. Welp, Brandon greeted us with within 2 minutes and immediately acknowledged the celebration in our visit. He was very personable, diligent and knowledgeable on all things Capital Grille. Our food was brought to us in a timely manner. Each course was cleared prior to bringing out the next which I can always appreciate. Brandon checked on us about 60-90 seconds after each course was delivered which is an absolutely bonus to me! We had the following: Cesar Salad: 8.5/10 Lobster Bisque: 8/10 NY Strip: 8.5/10 - I could’ve used a tad more flavor Filet: 9/10 - “ “ Lobster Mac: 7/10 Cream Corn w/bacon: 7.5/10 Crème Brûlée: 8.5/10 Really appreciates the complimentary dessert and birthday candle. All in all, good food, AMAZING SERVICE! We’ll return! Thank you Brandon for a lovely time!! Oh and we absolutely adored the older gentlemen from Chile who was resetting the tables - I feel awful I didn’t catch his name but super sweet! Thanks everyone!!

My time at Capital Grill was very splendid, the atmosphere was nice. I love the restaurant decor the waiter & service was immaculate very pleasant staff. The menu and food is nice. The quality of food is good the flavors are a little blend but overall I will give this restaurant a 4 star.

We went to have dinner after birthday shopping. We did not make reservations. There was a 20-minute dinner wait, which wasn't bad. We decided on not waiting and doing tabletop lounge service. The lounge had 2 servers working together. Our main server was Samantha. She was friendly and knew plenty about the menu. Her serving was wonderful. We didn't have long periods between courses. She also gave us time to ourselves. Appetizers: Shrimp cocktail had GIANT FRESH 🍤. So YUMMY! Crab lobster cake was good. Sauce wasn't my favorite, but no complaints. Salads: Caesar was a Caesar. The beet and goatcheese salad was definitely the main character tonight. I could bathe in the vinaigrette 😭 Entrees: Aged New york strip, this thing was flavorful and a huge 14-ounce thick cut. SeaBass with miso was DELISH. I would love to see higher quality filets. My filet was not as buttery and tender as what I'm used to. Miso was delicious. Asparagus on all dishes was cooked to perfection. Dessert: Creme Brulee was a classic style with fresh berries. It was smooth and creamy with a crispy toasty top. PERFECT. Bday plate was also provided. Loved the torte and cheesecake. 🎂 This was my first time here. We will definitely return!

Yeah it's a high end....but they deliver!! It was a business lunch and every detail was met. Food was great and we were able to have discussions in a great atmosphere. I had the lobster salad and a cup of chowder. Lobster was perfectly cooked.

If I could give this location a 100 out of 10 I would! This Capital Grille is the best! The experience I had was phenomenal from start to finish. Amber was one of the best servers I have ever had and was so detailed oriented, tentative and made a very special day between my partner and I more amazing than we could’ve imagined. I’m just honestly blown away by the service this specific location was able to obtain throughout the high volume and demand of tables needing served. The food was also another impeccable aspect of this location. The balance and flavor the dishes had were so well made/seasoned there was no need for any additional salt, pepper or other table side seasonings. I could go on and on about my experience but to sum up my review, Go To This Location.

The place was amazing… The food was excellent & I have nothing to be critical about… This was for my fiancé’s BDay & we were very impressed… Without asking, there was a Happy Birthday card waiting at our table & after our entrees, a small plate of desserts with a chocolate Happy BDay greeting… I work hard for my $$ & when I spend it I expect the best… Well, Capitol Grille delivered 10 fold… Thank you for a great experience.. Lindsay’s service was professional & impeccable… She knew when to approach the table & when to hang back… Besides the food, her service will be the reason for our return…

I don’t understand how there is a 4.7 rating. This is a 5 star restaurant; The food, the service, the elegance in which the food is served, the presentation, and the professionalism demonstrated is absolutely amazing. This is not your average steak house. If you don’t mind scuffing your wallet a little for a premium date night with the Mrs this is the place to go.

we came here for our anniversary dinner, and when we got to the table, there were little hearts on the table and a note wishing us a happy anniversary and complementary dessert at the end. From start to finish everything about this dinner was absolutely amazing. I ordered my steak rare and I think a lot of restaurants are scared of cooking it rare because of how undercooked it is But I asked for rare, and they gave me rare!!! LOVE this steak was one of the best I’ve had in my life. all of the sides were very good as well. The service was top-tier and unmatched. Even though, after our entrées, appetizers, drinks, it was very expensive we will be coming back for every big celebration!! It was worth every penny.

The NY strip was completely coated/breaded in peppercorns. Couldn’t taste the steak. Tried scraping it off but it wasn’t possible. Completely ridiculous amount. The pepper on my plate mixed with the sauce is from only half of the steak.

My wife and I have enjoyed several Capital Grille’s along the East coast. What makes Tampa memorable is that each of us enjoyed a filet mignon cooked to absolute PERFECTION! A huge thank you for the thoughtful gestures and the beautiful anniversary meal. The flavors in Tampa are definitely worth visiting!

Took my wife here to have dinner for her birthday last year. Plenty of thanks to our server for the evening Chris Buzas. He was a great help with recommending dishes, and his personality was one that you'd want around you all the time. The wife enjoyed her Seared Tenderloin with Butter Poached Lobster Tails. I loved my Roasted Chicken Breast With Mushrooms and Parmesan Risotto. We both drank Passion Fruit Mojitos, and she ended the evening with The Capital Grille Cheesecake. Lovely experience !!!

My wife wasn't well enough for going out but she wanted the largest most tender filet mignon possible. $50 for 10oz with no sides but my wife doesn't eat much and for Christmas dinner she deserves only the best. In the past we loved the filet from The Old Homestead in Atlantic City NJ and Las Vegas and we read rave reviews at the Capital Grille. We were not disappointed. We ordered rare so we could finish cooking pan seared on butter at home. It was great. 5stars all the way. Much more tender than Ruth's Chris which we also like. The girls at the front desk said no take out but the manager obliged us and we are so thankful. Hopefully my wife will be well enough for us to sit down next time to enjoy this meal fresh next time. A beautiful restaurant. The best manager too. A joyous holiday to all at the Capitol Grille. We will be back! We're back! Just brought home the best double cut lamb chops yum with mint jelly, 2 crocks of the world's best Lobster Bisque, and Butcher cut 10oz filet Mignon. $140 and well worth Valentines dinner with my wife. Highly recommend them for sit down and take out! Enjoy

The food was great as always, but what really stood out was the service. I hosted a presentation in a private room a couple of weeks ago and Nick P. Was amazing. He took care of every need even when we had more guests than expected he rearranged some tables and chairs with no complaints. We had check ins from multiple staff members like Sierra, who was amazing as well. I will definitely consider the private room at this capital grille for future events.

Spectacular all way round. Delicious food ,wine and atmosphere.

I often dine at various restaurants at the International Mall and have never been to Capital Grille. I made reservations here for my birthday dinner but was running late due to traffic from Gasparilla. I called the restaurant and they were so understanding. When we finally arrived, we were promptly seated to a decorated table with confetti and a card. For starters, my husband and I ordered Calamari & the Lobster Crab Cake with the Lemon Basil Aioli. The crab cake was absolutely delicious (chef's kiss). You must try this. I also had 2 orders of the Passion Fruit Mojito. For our entrée we ordered the Double Cut Rib Lamp Chops, NY Strip with Courvoisier Cream, Mashed Potatoes & Cream Spinach. We also received a complimentary dessert for my birthday. Everything about Capital Grille exceeded my expectations. From the service to the food to the ambiance, everything was 5 star.
