What a truly magical experience! The service and ambience is outstanding. Most importantly, the food was excellent! Usually, at most fine dining restaurants, we enjoy some items and others would be alright - hit and miss. We enjoyed every single starter, entrée and dessert. Beautiful experience and we will be back. Thank you!

We went to "The Cellar" at the Elderberry House, which is more like a bar. Very up-classed, extremely talented bartender, very limited food dishes. This is literally a cellar, there is a bar, and wine cellar and a couple tables. The Cellar is open to the public, so don't let the $950 nightly room rates scare you away. Prices on food and drinks are comparable to other eat-in restaurants in the area. Wednesday is happy-hour-day where they have a large selection of very good drinks for only $10. The Cellar seats at most 20 people, so it's more for small parties, or couples. The hamburger is extremely good, the top 10 in my life.

Despite the excellent service, we had a less than stellar culinary experience at Elderberry House. The only options are a 3 or 5 course menu, there are no a la carte menu items which should have been a red flag for us. The 3 course option will run you $110 per person with the option to add an additional $70 wine pairing. We opted for cocktails instead, which were $18 each and nothing to write home about. The food presentation was beautiful, but the flavors were all over the place. Most items were overly salty and some were downright inedible (dessert with matcha powder, forbidden rice in scallops dish, to name a couple). There is also an automatic 22% service charge. Half a dozen oysters, 2 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, and 2 3 course meals came out to $425. We’ve had better food for significantly less money at Michelin star restaurants. If you’re looking for an exceptional culinary experience in the Yosemite region, I suggest you look elsewhere.

We had a lovely dinner. What made it so wonderful?! - The fresh ingredients, the presentation, the bland of flavors, the professional servers, the menu printed with our name, the well thought out extras, and the gorgeous setting. We had the 3 course fixed menu (either 3 or 5 course set menu. This is our 5th time dining at the Elderberry House.

If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience- especially for a special occasion- Erna's is the place to go. Ours was a very special birthday. Erna's offers three and five course dining options with wine pairings. We chose the ribeye and halibut which were prepared to perfection. Our waiter, Christian was sure to explain each course to us as well as how it was prepared. Christian checked on us regularly while allowing us quality time to talk and savor our dining experience. All in all, we were very pleased with every aspect of our visit to Erna's and can't wait to return. Highly recommend.

The Elderberry House is such a fabulous restaurant in the greater Fresno area. In less than a hour's drive, you really feel like you're transported somewhere else when you're here - the grounds are so well manicured and have the stylings of an Italian villa! You really feel like you're in a different country! The service is absolutely incredible - personalized menus with consideration for dietary restrictions, non-pretentious and accessible service, and engaging staff all make it an incredible experience! The food is the best. The BEST! Everything is presented to beautifully and the wine pairings just make everything taste that much better! If the weather is nice, it's wonderful to take your dessert out on the patio and enjoy the outdoor scenery and lights. This place is my go to when I want to feel spoiled and indulgent, with without feeling like I need to look or act a certain way to be treated well. No snobbery, just good service and great food!

Sadly this used to be our annual tradition with our grandmother. Since she passed we tried to continue the tradition this year but the service was terrible under the new ownership. They were overly rigid about our reservation. They wouldn't let us sit together as a party of 7. Insisted that we sit at 2 separate tables and charged us for 2 guests that were ill and unable to come.

Absolutely excellent dinner service, exactly what I would hope for when dining at a 5-diamond restaurant. The experience was elevated with each course getting better in fresh flavor & innovative composition, quality ingredients local to the area. I think we'll be dreaming of the ribeye & halibut for a while, but even the charcoal bread was like wow. The sommelier showcasing the different wine pairings for the 5 courses, she was very knowledgeable & made each pour look effortless. Our server Melissa was very attentive & professional. Everything down to how the check is brought to the table in the wood box is well thought-out. This place is on par with the likes Picasso in Las Vegas. 100% will be coming back here.

I had high hopes for this dining experience as I made the reservation in commemoration of me and my partner’s anniversary. We ordered the three course tasting menu. The first course was sea urchin with foamed peas. It tasted horrible. My boyfriend couldn’t even eat it. I tried to eat the whole thing but it was hard. The second course was decent - ahi tuna on a bed of smeared puréed peas and fresh shredded horseradish. The third course was trout, very undercooked with the skin still on and as slippery as a live fish. The trout came in a bowl of butter cream with trout eggs. For the dessert, strawberry shortcake whereby the strawberries were not fresh, they were obviously sitting in sugar and mushy, on a mush of what may have been “shortcake” …we couldn’t even eat it and left it to be taken away. To top it all off, I asked for a glass of port wine for dessert and was informed they could only give me a glass of port wine if I buy a whole bottle. Are you kidding?!?!?!? Also, for a two person meal, they charged a 25% tip then left a line for an additional tip on the bill. Good lord. What a horrible experience, despicable.

I am not a local and would be surprised if people are not aware of this gem. Highly recommend! I will be back.

The menu and cocktails were pretty interesting and probably one of the few fine dining establishments in the Southern Yosemite area. However, although the dishes were pretty creative and well executed, they seemed to be pretty limited in flavor or complexity. Each main dish had 3 flavors that didn't mesh well in my opinion. Especially the smoke duck, strawberry, and spring onion. The inspiration and execution was there, but to me it isn't 3 things I would want to taste in combination again. More importantly, almost every dish was over salted. Including the dessert. The dessert was my favorite on the 6 course menu, but even the strawberry was over salted. The macaroon, described as something sweet, tasted only of salt to me and my wife. I do realize the target demographic of this chateau and restaurant is probably the older crowd, and at this elevation you may need to increase salt to taste it, but it's a shame some of the potentially more interesting flavors may have been masked by salt. The service was great. There is an automatic 22% service charge which I do not agree with. Raise your menu price and pay your staff more sure, but don't automatically add a 15% or more service charge. Just increase your prices.

A very pretty room and lovely ambience. Could not fault the food which was excellent. The service was attentive but not rushed. However, all the wait staff seemed to be following a very specific and defined "formula" - the exact same questions were asked of guests at every table and there was little personality and therefore no real feeling of genuineness to the service. There was no a-la-carte menu option, rather a 3 course or 4 course menu only. We were very moderate in our dining (we both opted for the 3 course menu) and drinking (one glass of red wine each as we are not big drinkers) and despite this being a restaurant attached to a Relais & Chateaux hotel, we felt the $278.68 price tag to be exorbitant due to the 22% service charge added on top of the food and beverage to "support our kitchen and serving team". Perhaps the restaurant should pay their employees more commensurate with their worth instead of charging patrons to pay them a fair wage. It is also somewhat demeaning to the staff when a restaurant advertises an extra charge to "support" their workers, suggesting the management does not see fit to do so themselves. Alternatively, the restaurant could quite easily increase the prices to cover service costs to more accurately reflect the quality of the restaurant and the level of service provided (which is the case in most fine dining restaurants) and leave it at that. Tax is added on top of the entire bill in the USA which is never a known percentage until the bill is received so costs keep mounting (unlike other countries where tax is a fixed cost already built into the final price). The space on the bill for a tip (on top of the F&B charge, the 22% service charge and tax) - felt like double dipping when the service charge was added regardless. Note to management: diners do not mind paying high prices for excellent food, good service and a lovely ambience but all these factors should be built into the initial cost (as are the amuse bouche, bread and petit fours), not added on top.

I now understand the difference between a Michelin-starred restaurant and a Five Diamond Restaurant. If Michelin did not stop there, it is for a reason. I went with my wife for thanksgiving dinner. I was very disappointed by the food. Dry turkey, contrasting tastes that don't make sense, cheap sides. I felt like the sous-chef got made in charge that night. Surprising for a fine dining thanksgiving night. Lastly, the decor would need a slight upgrade. They say "French style". I'm french and did not see anything french there. Just a pale and dusty medieval castle imitation. Quite impressed however by the service. Nice cocktails too. I do not recommend except if spending $500 for a dinner for 2 is casual for you, then try it out. Maybe you'll be luckier.

We’ve eating at The Elderberry House (EH) quite a few times including a New Year’s Eve. In the past, the food and service has been exceptional. With Thanksgiving coming up we decided to do something different and go to EH for Thanksgiving dinner. The reservation was made several weeks before and noted that we had one person in our party with Celiacs (needs gluten-free). EH called us a few days before to confirm our reservation and that there was one person who needed gluten-free accommodations. On Thanksgiving Day Eve we arrived early so that we could order a cocktail. The bar was busy and so when it was time for us to be seated our drinks hadn’t arrived so the waitstaff offered to bring our drinks to the table. So far so good. The first three courses were progressively more delicious than the previous one. Then the third course arrived. It was a foil gras torchon served with bread. The gluten-free bread was small and looked like part of a hamburger bun. On the fourth course when our gluten-free party was given tortellini they were smart enough to asked the waitstaff before eating it. It was quickly taken away. In the meantime while we were waiting for the gluten-free version to arrive, I had no utensils so I waited until the waitstaff returned with the gluten-free dish to ask for utensils. This was the second time I had to ask for utensils. There would be third time before they started bringing utensils prior to the food being served. The sixth course was turkey breast with leg meat confit. Both were incredibly salty. I could understand the confit possibly being salty but the turkey breast? It was at best difficult to get down but when paying around $500 for dinner for two we decided to get through it. The seventh and final course was a pumpkin parisienne sucré which I quite enjoyed but for the gluten-free person they got the same thing but without the “cake”. Needless to say that was disappointing for them. Then the bill came and our cocktails were not included. So doing the right thing we brought it to the waitstaff’s attention. They came back and said that they had taken $10 off. It was a little surprising to me that such an upscale restaurant wouldn’t have made more of an effort. In retrospect I do regret a little being honest but it’s done now so after posting this I’m going to let it go. Overall there were great moments but there were also moments where we were left wondering what was going on; to have inconsistent service, our gluten-free person feeling like they got less than the standard meal and then a feeble attempt at the end to make things right. I’m really hoping that it was an off night but will not be coming back here anytime soon.

Food was disappointing. The flavours did not compliment each other. Service was haphazard. Glass of wine did not arrive. Bread arrived after the starter. We had to ask for a spoon for the bisque. $62 service charge was added to the already sizeable bill. This alone would stop me coming back. The customer should always decide the tip, not the restaurant. We had three courses but were charged $100 each for food despite the $89 it said on the menu all because we substituted a starter for a dessert. Not worth $370 for two people. Would never, ever go back or recommend to anyone!

Quick Summary Fantastic service from start to finish with excellent food and cocktails. Fantastic spot if you're craving a "fine dining" experience at Oakhurst Food- 5 stars They come with a tasting menu and give you the option for a 3 or 4 course menu. We ordered the 4 course menu to try everything out. Broccoli soup- this was fantastic. Probably the best dish of the night. Perfectly balanced and really liked the touch of chili oil to round out the dish Caviar- this was good. Lower end caviar always is! Great value here Ribeye- this was cooked perfectly. I just thought the reduction was a tad bit sweet, which is why I liked the elk better Elk- this was fantastic. Liked it more than the ribeye, especially because of the sweet potato puree Namelaka- dessert was fantastic. Very balanced and not too sweet. Enjoyed every bite Spiced carrot torte- same as above. I liked both desserts and would suggest just to get the dessert that sounds more appetizing to you Drinks- 5 stars Irish maid- really enjoyed this cocktail. Extremely refreshing, especially after a long hike in Yosemite Elderberry sour- their version of the gin sour. Very delicious, balanced, and light Service- 5 stars Service was excellent from start to finish. Everything you would expect from a fine dining restaurant from the service to the ambiance Bottom Line Excellent food and cocktails at the Elderberry House. The service is what pushes this place to the top. Great spot to visit if you're in the fine dining mood

I can’t understand why they call it “tasting menu” when it is not. Paying such a price for such food it’s not worth it. They don’t allow you to choose à la carte for dinner, even if you’re not that hungry and you only want one plate you will have to pay the 90 dollar that the 3 course tasting menu costs (plus taxes, plus 22% service and they even expect you leave more tip, plus beverages). The flavors were okey, but not for this price… The beet salad it’s something you can find anywhere else, much better. The asparagus soup was good but nothing special at all. The lamb was good but, again, nothing special. I feel defrauded. The service and ambience were ok, and the place is beautiful, but definitely it does not worth it.

Truly world class fine dining in this beautiful setting. Top notch craft cocktails started things right. I had the four course tasting menu with wine pairings and each course was perfectly prepared in every way. Potato leek soup served with a bright Gruner Veltliner, caviar with housemade blinis and sour cream served with champagne, diver scallops served with a cold climate Santa Rita Hills Chardonnay, and finally, an inventive stone fruit dessert served with Sauternes. My wife's three course dinner was no less spectacular, and even the espresso to finish up was expertly made and served. We lingered in the bar after and sampled from the impressive single malt selections. Can't wait to return some day on our next trip to visit Yosemite.

I had the incredible opportunity to stay at the Chateau with my husband for two nights - both nights we ate here. Being fairly knowledgeable foodies, we were floored by every aspect of our dining experience. First of all, it is worth mentioning that the wait staff seemed to know how to do EVERYTHING, from serving to pouring to intensely knowing every aspect of the menu by heart. (We even saw one of the staff making the delicious cocktails in the bar area!) We were very impressed to know that one of the people serving was the Somme, whose wine pairings were thoughtful and elegant. Overall, we really loved the staff’s attention to detail and think they deserve their own applause. As for the food - we thought everything was executed perfectly. I have so much I can say. The plating for every dish was artfully balanced and delicate. The amuse-bouche was different both nights and delightfully creative. Primarily, though, the classic dishes that we had both nights - salmon, scallops, and then the ribeye were all as good as you could possibly have them. I would dare to say that this was the best scallop dish I ever had. We loved the creative accompaniments to the dishes like the sage beignets to the salmon. Our complements go out to the chef and I hope he receives them! Great experience overall. (Also the hotel is amazing as well!) Thank you to the Elderberry team for a lovely time - we will be back!

For our main course 2 of us had the rack of lamb (so tender and flavorful), the scallops (perfectly seared and and delicious) and the salmon which must have been good because my dad didn't offer me any. The desserts were equally good, I would recommend the ganache with a cup of coffee ☕, perfect way to complete your experience. I almost forgot the strawberry salad, lovely. Sorry for being long winded but my experience here couldn't have been better. Thanks to the staff, front and back of the house. Round the bases, you all crushed it!

What a wonderful way to end the day. My husband and I were on a trip and were fortunate enough to experience the Elderberry House. Fantastic service, beautiful and wonderful tasting food, and nice atmosphere. It was a unique experience for us. We are planning to have dinner here the next time we visit Yosemite. Thank you Elderberry house for a beautiful evening.

For a second time, our dinner club enjoyed all the elegance and excellent service of Ernas. The staff was superb and attentive. The food was presented elegantly and treated wonderful...not too rich or spicy. The wine pairing complimented each course beautifully. The cost was expensive, but this is not a place we frequent daily. On this occasion, we splurged and enjoyed every minute. This is not a quick meal, it is an event to enjoy. Dinner was over 2 hours long, but we were enjoying each moment. Highly recommend.

The food was excellent, customer service was fantastic. Our waitress, Andrea was exceptional. You choose a 3 or 4 course meal, 3 course doesn't come with an appetizer, but their appetizer choices all sounded delicious. Their bread is made in house, it was a raisin and nut focaccia which I'm not usually a fan of but their seasoned churned butter was a nice compliment to it. They bring out a chef selected sample bite before the appetizer comes out, which was a tuna poke on a rice cake. The crab cake was flavorful, I got a lot of celery flavor coming thru which I enjoyed better than most crab cakes that have a strong onion flavor. I don't eat what they were serving on their entrees for the evening and they didn't have a vegetarian option on their menu but I asked and they were happy to prepare a couscous with root vegetables, it was delicious. A must visit, but on a special occasion, bcuz it is quite expensive. Oh and they add 22% to the check automatically.

Elderberry Restaurant is a great place to have dinner. Their wine selection is plentiful for all spending levels. The menu changes often as it's based off of the fresh ingredients available. The menu is done as a set course and you have the choice of 3 or 4 servings. I went with the 4 as the menu descriptions were amazing and honestly I wanted to try everything!! My favorites things were the crab cake (it was so delicious and the roumalade that accompanied was mouth watering) and the Meyer lemon creme brulee (perfect blend of tart and sweet without an over powering lemon flavor). Their atmosphere is perfectly romantic, cozy, well lit and comfortable. After a few bottles of wine the noise level can be elevated but over all this is the perfect place to dine and a must visit while in Oakhurst!

Soup and salad and dessert were good. The food was downhill from there. The service was good. One would expect excellent food for $300 for two and that was with only water to drink. The food presentation was very nice. I would never go again.

We had an great time. What a gem in the beautiful Sierra foothills. The wait staff and chef made it a marvelous evening for our mother's birthday. We enjoyed the various appetizers, great cocktails, entees and dessert. I had the bison ribs and i loved it. The meat was treated so well with a great great gravy that complimented the full flavor of the very tender, long braised (if I'm remembering correctly) rib. Chef also sent out a succulent tuna morsel to start with lovely greens a delicious sauce. I wish i could remember exactly to describe for you but I do recall being surprised at the flavor packed into such a small plate. Finally, I'd love to have seen a bigger scotch/bourbon list but hey can't have everything!

We were first here about 30 years ago, and waited WAY too long to come back! The Chateau is gorgeous, & the service impeccable without being stuffy in the least. When Annie says "welcome home," we only wish it were true! The restaurant is the piece de resistance. Wonderful food, service beyond compare, and reasonably priced for the quality, and quantity. It won't take another 30 years for our return.

The food and service was outstanding. Each course, of our four course meal, was exceptional. The layers of wonderful flavors and textures, along with the presentation was up there with some of our best meals ever. We also ordered the wine pairing to go with our meal, which we were quite disappointed in. We are quite knowledgeable and finicky about our wines. None of the wines paired well with any of the courses, which was a disappointment since the food was so outstanding. Probably 95% of most people would never notice the poor pairings.

We checked the menu on line when we made reservations. They had a la carte choices and no mention of a prix fix menu. When we got there they only had a prix fix menu. This was unexpected and more expensive than we thought. The bread, salad and shrimp appetizer were all super salty. The shrimp was overcooked. The main course of grilled salmon with sides of polenta, and veggies and chocolate ganache dessert were all very good and nicely presented. It took us almost 3 hours to finish our meal. That's how slow the service was. I'd say painfully slow. By the time the main course arrived we were ready to go to sleep and really didn't want to eat anymore. The waitress gave us a free bottle of wine at the end to apologize for the wait. Nice setting but lots of room to improve here.

Beautiful Fine Dining Experience. Perfect for a special occasion or romantic date night. Ambiance is enchanting with soft glow of chandelier, elegant dinning rooms, and beautiful patio seating. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. You could choose from either a 3 course $70 or 4 course menu $90. Each course had a selection of dishes you could choose from: soup or salad, appitizer, entree and dessert. Each course was taken out one by one and you had time to enjoy each course. They had a way of combining different flavor to make a dish that was familiar, but different. At the end of our meal we were gifted a bottle of Coquelicot wine which I thought was so nice of them. Service: was top notch professional and informative. They described each course as they came out. They check on us regularly and even took pictures for us. Perfect place to spend our Anniversary.

The staff here is truly 5 stars, absolutely amazing. The food here is also incredible. A few things didn't quite match up to the rest of the experience, but overall it was a great way to spend a evening. Our only cons were that the crabcakes lacked flavor and the pasta was rather lack luster. While disappointing, everything they do right here. Will more than make up for any deficit of flavor. The crabcakes may have had, that evening.
