A destination club hidden in coastal Connecticut as good as the great venues in NYC and more intimate. We opted for dinner earlier so can't comment on the food this visit but the cocktails & spirits did not disappoint! So convenient and on-site free parking - keep an eye on the artists performing there. A phenomenal opportunity to see performers up-close with great acoustics! And if you happened to travel a ways, the Old Lyme Inn upstairs may be just the next best stop.

My Wife and I really enjoyed the evening of Jazz. The night out with the Jimmy Greene quartet was a evening that created very fond memories for us. Ken was a wonderful host.

My husband and I got tickets to Jimmy Greene and had a lovely time. Our first jazz experience was memorable for all the right reasons!

Wow, just wow! What an amazing hidden jewel this club is! Ken was an amazing host, terrific human being and a dedicated contributor to the arts that has put his soul into the realization of such an amazing arts space. The space is cozy and intimate but really well setup for optimal sound to feature some of the best players one could imagine! Highly support this venue ❤️❤️❤️

We went to the 10:45pm New Years Eve show last night. The music was great, the service not so much. We got there at 10:25pm and did not get our drinks until 11:30pm. There were a lot of people there, but only one waiter and one bar tender. They needed at least two of each. The waiter was coming around to each table, he accidentally skipped ours and then he never came back. We waited about ten mins to see if he would come back, my husband then went up to the bar to try and find him and to see if we could get drinks. He was nowhere to be found. The bartender would not serve him since he wasn’t seated. Finally the waiter came back from the back room and my husband had him come over and take our drink order. The show is only an hour and a half long and we waited an hour to get our drinks! The server was very nice, it was just too much for one person. For the price we paid for the ticket we expected top of the line service. We love the Old Lyme Inn and in the past have loved the Side Door, but we will never go back. Way over priced for what it is. There are other places to watch Jazz music.

My wife and I visited for the first time to see Orrin Evans. Needless to say, we will definitely be visiting again! Absolutely a great show, unfortunately we had to leave at intermission.

Manager ‘Chris’ was kind and helpful. Showed me cute pictures of his dogs too!

The Side Door is one of the best jazz clubs and music venues overall that I can think of on the east coast! Since it's located conveniently next to the Old Lyme Inn, in the same building in fact, I was able to eat dinner there and see a great show after. The atmosphere is great, the staff is hospitable, and the sound quality is state of the art. I didn't stay overnight but they do offer 12 rooms for overnight stay, which is really convenient

Wow! My friends and I went to go see the Jimmy Greene quartet on January 28th, 2023. We were blown away and will definitely remember it for a long time!

Great little Jazz club tucked inside the Old Lyme Inn. Go for the show and enjoy a great dinner first. The chefs always outdo themselves and the menu is incredible.

I’ve seen some of the greatest jazz musicians alive at this club right here in CT at the Side Door. The great part is it is nice and small and intimate so it is more like your apart of the music rather than just watching it! And two sets are included in your ticket price. Beats any deal in NYC! This club sparked my love for jazz and I urge you to just give it a try and you’ll love it!

Excellent jazz club near the Connecticut shore located in a beautiful inn. They feature some of the same acts that headline New York jazz clubs. You can tell the owner really loves jazz. He introduces the acts and enjoys the music as much as the audience!

Does not surprise me that the Side Door Jazz Club put out an online Christmas jazz concert. Such a class act, all around. Stay well and see you after the vaccines are distributed.

My wife and I have been five times (it helps that we live close by). As others have said, no need to go to New York when you have this fantastic place. We saw Cyrus Chestnut here recently and the intimacy of the club, coupled with the acoustics and fine playing, made this yet another memorable evening. Go, and then go again.

terrific, quaint, live jazz venue. Been here many times over the years. tickets cheaper if you buy by calling the Inn directly ( saves the processing online fees). No bad seats. sound quality excellent. Waitstaff bar service provided. limited on food options but nice restaurant located in the Inn if you want to dine before the show. Higher priced meals, not a Jean's and Tshirt restaurant. no dress code for jazz club though.

Best jazz bar in Connecticut. World class musicians. You can just drive no need to go to NYC. Stay local.

Great place for great live jazz

Top pick for jazz in Southern New England. Fabulous acoustics and first rate acts. Come early if you want a close up and personal seat. Friendly place...you can talk to the musicians at intermission. A rare treat to hear cutting edge jazz unadulterated...you'd think you were in the 20th century it's such a throwback in a positive way. Drinks are nothing special and no eats. Then again, the music is the ticket here.
