If you want a coffee shop that’s friendly, efficient and delicious, look no further. It’s one of the best coffee shops in Florida. Their menu is huge. Breakfast is awesome. They have some of the best donuts around. Same with the breakfast sandwiches. Staff is always nice and there is plenty of space to sit and work or chill. You owe it to yourself to come here.

This was an excellent find in Orange Park. Needed to get our coffee fix and found Urban Bean close by. Liked it so much we went twice.

Living across the bridge means we only come on weekends, but it's worth the trek for us. We dine in and have breakfast almost every weekend. It can be quite busy on weekend mornings, and sometimes the live music makes it tough to hear, but the food and service is always top notch. I look forward to stopping in.

The coffee and food did not meet expectations. The soup was too sweet, which ruined the experience. Unfortunately, the place left something to be desired. I wish good luck to those who choose to visit this place. Omelete has no seasoning. Soup had sugar (America is so sick due to sugar gluten potatoes). I returned my full cup of soup and they weren’t kind to offer another option. So we paid and didn’t eat. Cappuccino had milk taste way more than the taste of coffee or cocoa. AMBIENCE is 5 stars

I’m really impressed by the meal I just ate. I had no idea about the food because I thought it was only a coffee house. I ordered the pick two…1/2 of the Mediterranean salad and 1/2 of the Downtown sandwich. I ate all of it. It was so delicious! I will definitely go back.

This place is really cute. Food was really fresh. It is an order at the counter kind of place, a casual cafe. I got the chicken salad croissant sandwich, fruit cup and the oatmeal crème cookie. I’ll be back!

Super slow rude counter, carrot cake was definitely not carrot cake not a single carrot in the whole piece. They should call it cinnamon walnut cake. Vegetable omelette consisted only of peppers, onions and canned mushrooms again no fresh vegetables like broccoli, spinach and so forth

The people are really friendly and helpful. The food was a bit of a wait but I understood after getting my food. Everything was fresh and well prepared. I got the bacon,egg and cheese on a cinnamon bagel and a white chocolate latte hot. It was all really good!

Love the food and atmosphere but I waited 30 minutes at drive through for my food.

It's a nice little caffe. The food is great and so is the tea. Other than my sandwiche falling apart really quickly, everything was great. I don't get the disgn of the bathroom, though. Its a weird vibe.

07/16/24 today was my second visit. I had the Cobb salad and it was so good and so fresh. I will be a regular customer. I posted urban bean on the Nextdoor app with a pic of the salad that had the prettiest presentation. I posted it as a hidden gem in OP but honestly I may just be late for the party. So glad I found this place. I haven’t tried the coffee yet but if you guys have Sugarfree iced coffees that will be my next order.

Delicious. Coffee house vibes are there, live saxophone when we walked in on a Sunday afternoon. Breakfast sandwich was 10/10, homemade bagels 😍 I’m all about the “made in house” foods, they’ve got it down. I got the boss sandwich, would go without the onion jam next time, I don’t like sweet things on my savory foods much, but gave it a try. Without the jam, it was incredible. Also, desserts are fantastic. Mississippi pie was so good. Planning to return before I leave JAX!

I gave it 3x of visiting before reviewing. I manage a coffee house back home in NC, so maybe I am bias, but every time I’ve been here everyone is NOT warm or welcoming. If I ask a question (because I’m not familiar with menu, amount of syrup, specials, etc.) they seem annoyed at me. Today, I surprised my grandma with a chai latte from UB and she said it was basically all milk and bummed because where we went the day prior, she loved their chai tea latte. She said she barely tasted any cinnamon at all. When I was ordering today the lady speaking was cut off by her own co worker on the head set and That was off putting. When I asked for a sticker on my first visit (because I junk journal my travels) I was told they didn’t have any. Then later, another gentleman who overheard, said they actually did and gave me one. So people are not on the same page there. It’s not like it was an absolute horrible experience, but it definitely wasn’t a good one all three accounts. When I travel, I look forward to trying other coffee houses and I’m very extroverted so I love talking to the baristas of each place. Unfortunately the baristas here don’t seem to feel the same about their guests. For the money I’m spending it’s also about the experience for me as well as the coffee. Sadly I don’t think I’ll be back while I’m visiting Orange Park. And lastly, this is just my opinion as someone who works at a coffee shop… I would think that you guys would be a lot more friendlier and welcoming to people, considering there is a Starbucks next to you and a lot of people could just go there. I chose to go to your coffeehouse, not Starbucks or some other local shop. I truly hope this review helps give clear feedback for their mgmt/ownership. Thank you

My family always enjoys coming here. The food is scrumptious and the menu is vast! As a vegan and being gluten sensitive, I especially appreciate the option variety and substitutions which far exceeds elsewhere in Jacksonville. For anyone craving something sweet, be sure to try their triple chocolate donut. It’s vegan and GF but it’s still the best donut my non-vegan friends have tried in all of Jacksonville! Ambience has a unique and fun vibe inside and out. Service and staff are friendly, especially Michael. Advise not to come in a rush as menu items are made fresh so the wait is sometimes a bit longer than one would anticipate, but worth the wait! Today my order was not correct twice; the first time they caught the mistake (forgot to use a GF bun, but big thank you!) and the second time they used regular cheese and not vegan. I pointed it out and it was corrected. These things can happen.

Really cool environment, a little busier than I'd like but I mean the flan pastry alone was worth it. My girl's pulled pork sandwich was cold, felt a little bad considering everything else was so good. Piano in the corner, lights strug on the porch and tea LITERALLY on tap. Very cool space, try to find a day when they're not slammed would be my only suggestion. 🤘🏽

In a world full of coffee shops, this place stands out above the rest! Amazing selection of food and drink, incredible variety of loose leaf teas, and the friendliest staff you can imagine (they even ask for your name and get it right, imagine that!)

Got a matcha latte, which was nice and very mild, and vegan chocolate donut which was also yummy and quite sweet. Chill on a Sunday afternoon. WiFi didn’t really work which might keep me from going there more often. Good otherwise

Great place to get breakfast, brunch, lunch and pastries. Great coffee selection, nice ambience that's more like a cafe you'd find downtown of a city. It has indoor/outdoor seating, so plenty of room for dining. They also have a drive-thru, for those on the go! The people are friendly and the line moves pretty quick. I gotta tell you, you can't go wrong with getting one of those breakfast bowls!

OK coffee. Food is pretty good but not super flavorful. The advantage is their menu is HUGE, their portions are reasonable and the prices are very affordable. Great place to take a small group for breakfast or lunch, especially if they have different dietary restrictions. My mom is vegan, my cousin has celiac and everyone could eat a decent meal here. Lots of healthy and unhealthy options. If you’re a coffee snob (or a snob in general) don’t expect to be impressed.

We were a large party of 6 and the workers were extremely friendly while taking our big order. The food was good and the prices were very reasonable as well as the portion sizes. The workers treated us with kindness and didn’t make us feel like a bother despite our large and complicated order. Overall a great experience and would recommend if you’re ever in the area!!

I LOVE coming here and reading on the patio. Not so much during the summer months obviously, but they aren't rude when I sit and read for a couple hours.

Great food. Longest drive thru wait in the United States. You forget that once they hand you your bag. Glad to learn they stopped using the crunchy rice! Wish they still made more things in house. Definitely recommend!

really slow service every time. I was the only person in the drive through and waited over 15 mins for only a small coffee, this is the third time I’ve tried this and I am still sitting here after nearly 20 mins. The workers are very sweet and gracious.

Urban Bean is primarily a cafe that serves a large variety of well-made rustic organic foods, but also had a great variety of well-made beverages, including mocktails, coffee, and tea! There is a reason this place is regularly voted amongst the best in Jacksonville! If you haven't been, you need to go and if you've been there, I'm sure I'll see you there at some point!

My only beef is the lack of indoor seating for 4 to 6 people and the hard bar stools to sit on. Maybe invest in more comfortable bar stools? We would have sat outdoors, but the heat was impossible. Other than that, the food is excellent and the service is great. I would have liked to see more strawberries on my strawberry waffle bowl. I only had two...slices, not whole ones. Hub loved his omelet, and our friends loved their egg sandwiches. We're from out of town but will be back!

Everytime I visit l the service is great and the baristas are super sweet. The coffee is really great too! They also gave vegan food AND donut options which is hard to come by in a non vegan coffee shop!

I have passed by this place many times and never tried it before, until my aunt who came into town suggested that we have breakfast here. It was so delicious! I had the gluten free waffle with bananas and nutella and a lemonade. The waffle was amazing and the lemonade was refreshing, not too sweet and not too sour. My aunt had the boss bagel and loved it too. I would definitely come back here.

I got the reuben and my wife got the margarita flat bread. We went Ona Friday night at 6:30 so food took a few extra minutes to come out, but it was good. Goo price for good food.

Love "The Bean" right up the street from my residence. Food is great, organic, and fresh. Prepared perfectly and tastes delicious.

Had the PB Banana Waffle Boat. It was amazing! The waffle was incredibly light and fluffy, not overly sweet but completely decadent! Hubs had the Southern Pecan Waffle Boat, no pics because he ate it all up too quick. He said it was delicious as well! We split and omelet and order of potato pancakes and it was all yummy. Totally recommend this place!

Interesting and eclectic group of people. Nice place to have some tea and people watch. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

This place was nice, the food was decent. If you are coming here to do any work online, like most people do at coffee shops like this one, you have to ask for the WiFi password. I’m not sure if it was just the day I was there, but their WiFi did not work at all. Very disappointed since that was the whole reason I went

I was discriminated by staff at this establishment, if you’re a person of color, don’t even waste your time. This was actually my first time walking into this establishment and will be my last. As a business owner myself , I’m disgusted with the behavior and attitude the cashier “shy” displayed towards me. When I spoke to Management, he too had no regard, couldn’t even make eye contact while speaking with me. No compassion, no sympathy, nothing and the way “Shy” spoke to me especially as a person of my caliber will never sit right with me. Disgusting. I politely left the establishment and will never return.

UPDATE - REPLY TO RESPONSE: most people don’t have the time to sit there and dispute charges during their lunch, even more so when they already waited for their order twice. You state the menu lists current prices but I was charged a whole dollar extra on my frappe. Never been anywhere that charges for flavors except for this cafe. That also doesn’t negate the fact that it is still quite difficult to read and very much faded. Could probably afford to upgrade the drive-thru menu considering that coming there isn’t cheap. It’s the surprise factor that’s the biggest problem. Let customers know up front how much things cost before they place the order, perhaps by indicating it on the menu or by verbalizing it. Also wouldn’t hurt to say “hey just a heads up, our egg WHITES are really egg yellows for x-y-z reasons…” Either way, I give places the benefit of the doubt the first time, after the second time I get a bad taste in my mouth and I simply will not continue giving them my business. Nothing personal, just do better. Thanks. ***for those reading: I will update this review in the future with a picture of the drive-thru menu for reference*** I loved coming here for quite a while, the food, drinks, and service are great… but the last couple times I’ve gotten majorly surprised when I pull up to the window to pay and I’m charged significantly more than what I calculated in my head. Last time it was a slice of apple pie that was close to $9… ONE SLICE. This time I got upcharged for egg whites rather than whole eggs, and upcharged TWICE for something as miniscule as adding flavor to my frappe. **side note: their egg whites are yellow..?** The drive-thru menu is faded and hard to read like it’s been there since the establishment was opened and they have covered the prices with tape with handwritten prices which apparently still do not reflect actual current prices. I hate being caught by surprise when it comes to my money that’s something I don’t like being played with, I can no longer enjoy this place, unfortunately.

I like this place for a quick grab option but dining in is the best way to go. I feel like with dining in, the food always comes out correct with no issues. For the drive through, however, wait times can be long, so only get easy to make items and be sure to check your bag/food before driving off because not all items are packed correctly. Unfortunately, I discovered this on three different visits after driving off but I didn’t have time to drive back for them to correct the issue. The ambiance is cool and staff is friendly!

I would come back and give these guys another try, because the food coming out of the kitchen did look really good. My husband and I stopped by for a latte while we were in town, based on the great reviews. I had a chocolate iced doughnut that was delicious, but our lattes were some of the worst I’ve ever had. Tasted like motor oil. We both drank less than half, and both got upset stomachs. I’ve never seen lattes so dark before, and the syrup tasted like it had alcohol in it.

An awesome all around coffee shop! We go every time we visit the Jacksonville area. Plenty of coffee and tea options as well as great lunch and breakfast choices or even smoothies! The inside is a great work or study spot as well. Great Gluten free options too!

I lived in Jacksonville for 6 years and this is one of my favorite places in NE Florida. Great food, really nice desserts, and of course good coffee! I played jazz there regularly for a while and have great memories of my monthly gig. Check their website because there is a grand piano there and regular live music

For starters, this place was great before COVID, terrible parking & hard to get to with traffic in a bad location BUT Excellent service & greater food. But after COVID the service & food are now just as bad if not worse than the parking and location. WILL NEVER GO BACK. Highly recommend Starbucks or Daily’s Donuts close by.

Worth the wait. Frequent customer. Kids get waffle boats and I enjoy the spinach breakfast burritos. Cinnamon rolls are decent but tend to be dry and dense. Otherwise everything is wonderful. 10-25 min wait in drive thru as it is prepared to order.

Great place to have quick meetings..or not so quick. Drinks are always top notch and the food is quite varied.

I don’t understand the hype of the Urban Bean. Every single staff member was rude, and the food was mediocre at best. The atmosphere was chaotic with only one person on the register and one person making drinks. Not a chill, coffeehouse atmosphere but more of a hipster “I’m going to be rude and spit in your drink” type vibe.

Hands down the best breakfast in the area! The coffee is amazing, the food elevated and the service outstanding. I have visited this place a few times and have never been disappointed.

The coffee is great and the salmon bagel is amazing, especially on the Asiago bagel! I added avocado and egg to it and now I’m addicted.

It's a wonderful place to have breakfast or lunch. The Urban Bean has a great menu with good wholesome food and an assortment of coffee choices.

I thought this place being a coffee shop would have better coffee but I was greatly disappointed. The coffee is either watered down or bad quality. Second the atmosphere. Inside is okay but outside is right next to a very busy road with a lot of noise.

Atmosphere is laid back and relaxing and slow. Food: small portions and overpriced. Drive through during non-peak times, expect a 10-15 minute wait if you order a speciality drink. The last 4visits, the coffee tasted burt.

Got the grilled cheese and the tropical harmony and both are phenomenal. Went here during a trip and I'll definitely remember this place!

Stopped by as we were passing through town. We thoroughly enjoyed all our meals and coffee. I had The Bird and it was very good! Our boys enjoyed the grit bowls. Will definitely stop by again!

My first trip there, love the variety of the menu coffee was great service was good also.

The food is great but my complaint is the service. We ordered a kemex with our meal. They said it would be 20-25 min wait for it. That’s fine. We ate, 30 mins go by, we see other people come and go and get drinks. My husband asked how long, he said he hasn’t started it yet but he’s going to get to it. 40 mins we are still sitting here waiting. We watched several others get their drinks. Why is this a coffee shop! They either need another expresso machine and another person making drinks. My husband says we will never come back here. Which sucks because I love the food. But this is terrible customer service. Approaching 45 mins now and no drinks. If the line wasn’t long I would go ask for a refund. Update, I went and asked how much longer. The guy said he will start it in 5 more minutes. I said it’s already been 40 and you made a ton of other drinks. He said well I told you when you ordered it would be 24 minutes before I could start it. I said well it’s been 40. I asked for a refund and the manager said he would make it but it will be another 6-8 mins to brew and he would refund me, do I want to wait. Yes I want to wait since I have already invested 40 minutes! And yes I want a refund because this should not have happened. The person making the drinks should have at one point started it. He worked all the easy drinks even tons that were ordered after us. Trust me I have been siting here 40 mins watching everyone who comes in and out. So hopefully we get the drink soon and a refund. We shall see. Update we got our drinks, the owner made them and gave us a full refund. And apologized. I appreciate that. Since I do love the food we will be back.

It was pretty good, I like that there were vegan / vegetarian options, that's why we stopped. The only reason it was rated so low is that we didn't think the food was as good as the price implied. It wasn't bad by any means, but it was the most expensive place we stopped on our whole vacation and all of us felt kind of meh about our food at the end. Wed stop here again if we needed an allergy safe place and we were close, but to us it wasn't someplace we'd go out of the way for

This place is adorable and I love that they have so many vegan options ❤ Edit: i went back and got a vegan waffle boat with strawberries instead of bananas (they were out of bananas), the veggie lovers flat bread, and mellow mango smoothie all was delicious 😋 and I'm craving some of that smoothie lol i spent about $25 for all this.

Update to respond to UB: on the day my order was incorrect, I called ahead and ordered, but when I called back to inform the manager there what was wrong with my order, the mailbox was full. No one picked up the phone on the UB end, and the recording comes on, VM FULL. That's when I made the review and informed the establishment I called. Love the breakfast I always get, but.... an item was missing from my sandwich. I like to heat my sandwich up when I get home, and it is extra amazing. Unfortunately, this time, something was missing. I can not speak to a manager about such an item missing as the mailbox is full. I was getting breakfast every day from this spot. I may see you all in a year or two due to this mishap. Quality assurance is down. This should not have happened. I am disappointed as this was becoming my favorite spot.

We ordered two Americanos in the drive thru and waited for more than 20 minutes only to watch our coffees be given by mistake to another car. Nothing was said even though we had had already asked once about the status of our order. We ended up leaving without bothering to ask again about our missing coffees.

Oh my goodness! If you are vegan ... This is a must! I went again and the customer service was outstanding! She made sure I knew of all the vegan choices including their daily made sweets.
