We dined in around 4:30pm. We were the only ones at the time. We ordered the Athena sampler for appetizer. It was delicious. Falafel and kibby were seasoned very well!! Hummus and other dips were great. We had the salads before our meal and the dressing was excellent. For main course, we ordered the gyro/chicken shwarma combination and the steak kabob. The chicken shwarma is on the dry side and needs some more flavor. The gyro was excellent with lots of flavor. Steak kabobs were cooked to a perfect medium and seasoned well. The rice was nice and moist. Overall a great meal and we will be back.

We had never been here before but decided to check it out recently. I had the chicken shawarma which was ok but the meat wasn’t as tender as it could have been. The Greek salad was terrific. Hubby had the beef kabob, which he requested medium rare but it came out much more done than that. The yellow rice was excellent. The pita bread was a bit tough.

This is our go to place for Greek food! My personal favorite is the Lamb Lula (Kufta) plate - the meat is always so rich and flavorful. It never disappoints. The plate comes with hummus/pita, rice, and a side salad - and all of it it delicious, down to the herbal salad dressing. We always add an additional order of hummus and pita bread because we can never have enough of it. The hummus is absolutely delicious. Nothing else I’ve tried in Shreveport compares to it. They also serve a Lebanese ice tea that has a beautiful and light flavor with an herbal edge. A wonderful summertime drink! Everything we have tried here has been fantastic!

Even though it is hot outside, it is freezing cold in the restaurant. Too cold to enjoy. Had the shrimp pasta, too much pasta not enough shrimp. My husband tried something new and he didn’t like it. Great customer service and very clean atmosphere.

Highly, highly suggest the Lebanese Iced Tea on an especially hot day

This was my first time to Athena, which came highly recommended due to the food, service, and bonus hookah lounge in the back. In Shreveport for a birthday, and the food did not disappoint. We were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and the steady stream of to-go orders coming in. The highlights were fried cheese, salad, and lamb as well as the hummus. Everything was delicious and as an added bonus the hookah lounge was enjoyed- especially being my first time. The staff were incredible hosts and will answer any questions you may have with patience and politeness. I will be back!

Loved everything about this place!! We had a large party of about 18-20 and the place was packed so our food took a while but that’s fine because it gave us time to digest the appetizers and to visit with one another. I am sorry I forgot to take pictures because I was too hungry to think about it. 😁 But trust me when I tell you this place won’t disappoint you. The gyro, kibby, and baba ghanoush are awesome. Just order the Athena’s sampler and the gyro plate and you’ll be set.

Flavors from the heart, authentic Lebanese food, all very delicious. For hummus lovers, an excellent option.

3 dinning areas. 2 of which are fairly spacious. 1 is super tiny with only 3 tables. Perfect for couples... Unless you're seated next to a group. The small space amplifies everyone. So you're either speaking over everyone or listening to their conversations. I just think the host should be conscious of the atmosphere. I guess I should mention that only 3 tables were occupied when we were seated. All groups.

Really enjoyed my evening here with family and friends. They accommodated our larger group. Our waiter was awesome. Took great care of us. The food was fabulous! I'll definitely be going back.

Haven't eaten much Greek food, didn't really know what to order. We got the special for two and were pleasantly surprised. Our waitress was pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive. We will be back.

Ordered lamb chops well done! We received burnt lamb chops and chicken shwarma was in tiny pieces! The server Debra and owner would not compensate for this horrible meal.

The service and food were exceptional. I didn't realize I had been here before until I pulled into the parking lot. This is worth checking out if you are in the area.

Staff was very friendly and food was great. I was shocked at how fast it came out. Pretty much got my appetizer and main at the same time. Everything tasted fantastic, definitely a fan of the baba ghanoush which had a good smoked flavor. Decor is very dated if you care about that kind of stuff. Go for the good Lebanese food.

Traveling thru and saw this high rated place. I guess being in a small town this is heaven to them, don’t go here if your use to a real good Greek food. Sorry I’m not sorry

Cool mideterranean restaurant in Shreveport. Ordered the Lentil Soup, Veggie grape leaves and Fatoush. Lentil soup: amazing Veggie grape leaves: tast plane , needs more lemon. Fatoush: portion was huge, which us good but also will fill you up. Seasoning if the salad was amazing, except wrong lettuce used which is iceberg. Please use Romain lettuce instead. Chicken Shawarma Wrap: chicken tasted plain. It was chewy and not seasoned correctly. Shawarma should he cut fresh from the skewer and not pre cooked then heated. Tiramisu was great Service was excellent 👌 Restrooms are clean Atmosphere was but boring, lighting was too bright, and no music heard in the background.

I will be honest one of the best Mediterranean restaurant in the town. Food was amazingly good, nice ambiance. I loved the atmosphere and interior. Over all I would recommend a must go place. 10/10

Restaurant was outstanding with great quality food. Easily found from the road and good accessible parking. Accessible seating and entry. Bathroom is not as accessible but would work. The food here was amazing and the service was great. This is a really good place to stop and eat and we have the hummus the kofta and the kabobs and loved it.

The food was delicious and very filling. Had a combo plate even though I ordered the combo kabobs. Still came out absolutely amazing. Their bread is amazing, salad was warm and bleh. But everything else was excellent. Service was decent. Not the greatest about refills. But overall a terrific place to try while in town.

Athena is my go to because I’m vegetarian. The lentil soup, Greek salad, and falafels are SO GOOD! OMG! It’s always hot and fresh. What are you waiting on to eat here?! Lol

Unbelievably flavorful cuisine and my favorite spot in Shreveport! The meat is incredibly tender and tasteful and the hummus and baba ganoush is so good. Really love their salads as well!

This is a nice, quiet place to eat. I love the gyro salad. I'm not a fan of the carrots added to the regular gyro pitas, but that may just be my preference. Their 4 lamb chop meal is very reasonably priced. The fried cheese appetizer is a must-have. The last time I visited, which was years ago, they gave a larger portion. This may be due to inflation, which I understand. If you're not accustomed to Greek food, check them out. You will leave full but not have that "weighed down" effect.

It was my first time eating Greek and it was pretty good.

First time diner. Beware for anyone attempting to get food delivered: they don't. I went to their website directly rather than GrubHub because I prefer local business to Grub. Their website says quote: "Deliveries: Athena’s delivery will be done by the restaurant employees". I thought great. We ordered food, and called when we had heard nothing 30+ minutes after the estimated time, only to find out that Athena doesn't actually do delivery... To be take my fair share of the blame, in hindsight, I realize that I never actually entering my address to the Athena site- so delivery would have been impossible ( I had started the process with Grubhub and attributed that to Athena's site unfairly). The food was still good (though cold and somewhat overcooked for sitting so long), and the person that answered the phone was very clear and helpful. I just wish their website had been patrolled better.

Had to get the waiters attention a couple times to refill out party's drinks. He was busy cleaning up and he still had customers.

Great experience. Service was great. Portion sizes was amazing and price was very reasonable. Food was delicious with everything we ordered. The atmosphere was very pleasant. A throw back to a time when other patrons weren't so loud and trying to out talk each other.

I have rarely had bad service here! I go a few times a year as a treat because its delicious food with a comfortable setting. Highly recommend trying them out. Especially try the Lebanese iced tea and their mousaka, very good options

The food did not taste Mediterranean nor Lebanese. It tasted like watered down version of uncle Ben’s rice and rotisserie chicken to me.

Athena has an epic hummus. Best in Port City. Their fish, non talapia, is delicious! Wait staff is polite and professional. They deserves more than a 20% tip.

Very good food, more than ample portions, but odd service by the young man who served us. I had the chicken shawarma plate and a Greek salad, and both were well presented and were delicious. Our server did check on us on from time to time, but spent most of his time on his phone or chatting with coworkers. We did ask for a couple of minutes to review the menu before ordering and that turned into at least 10 minutes of him sitting down with his phone before coming back to take an order. The good food made up for the poor service until I got my credit card statement and they decided to add a dollar to the tip I left. I took a picture of my signed bill that I left on the table because we were traveling and I was keeping track of expenses, and there was no mistaking the tip I left or the total. An obvious attempt of fraud or thievery, however you may want to interpret it. A dispute to my credit card company instantly made me whole. Perhaps it was an honest mistake on their part, but it'll be wise to double check your billed amount after eating here.

Me and my wife eat here quite often.. this is one of her favorite places and I got hooked on this place the first time she brought me here 4 years ago ... the food is really good here and I would recommend anyone going here to get the combination plate....

My wife and I made a return trip to Athena last weekend as we were in Shreveport for a performance of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Strand Theater. At 6pm on a Saturday night, the restaurant was busy but not full. We were seated immediately. Unfortunately, we were seated in one of their rooms where a large party of women and a few children were seated. I should have asked for us to be moved. My wife and I shared an Athena Platter for 2 (again) and the meal was very good. Service provided by Edna was also spot on. Problem was that as this group finished their meals, they became louder and louder. The children started running around the room playing and shrieking. Noise level was extreme. He hurried through our meal to leave the restaurant. I certainly would have appreciated this restaurant restoring some order to the room but they simply ignored. Doubt we will opt to return to this restaurant again in spite of being a fan of their food.

This Mediterranean spot nails it! Fantastic flavors, from kebabs to salads, great for a satisfying meal. My only suggestion is to clean the high chairs better, everything we ask for one is dirty and your atmosphere could use some renovation.

Wonderful place. We had our monthly MS support group meeting there for the 1st time last night. Food was excellent! Service was fantastic. Atmosphere very nice. Can't remember our waiters name but, the young man was great!!

I highly recommend Athena's! We usually get the Athena's Special Pasta and some pita bread with dips. The amount and the quality of food you get for what you pay is well worth it! I have also seen a few events happen there as well, such as a wedding rehearsal dinner. It is a nice environment and the staff is always very friendly and helpful!

Looking for a light, healthy supper on an overnight visit to Shreveport, I found this jewel on a Shreveport's best restaurant list. The dining room was mostly empty when I arrived for an early supper and remained so throughout my stay. The traffic for to go orders was steady. My falafel plate included a good sized salad, several falafels, delicious hummus, and a subtly flavored rice. The menu offerings were extensive, and, if my dish is a good representative, fanciers of this ethnic cuisine will enjoy them.

Can’t believe this is actually rated No. 1 in Shreveport on Trip Advisor. Candidly, I expected a lot more. The only redeeming quality was the pleasant demeanor of the waitress. My chicken shawarma platter was lackluster in flavor; overloaded with rice. Also, came to the table way too quick after I ordered! Is this fast food; I hope not. I’ve been to plenty of similar restaurants in my hometown and around the country. This place falls way short based on my experience

I laughed out loud at the music. Athena has delicious Mediterranean food and they play loud, really bad country music. Like take a drunk girl home- bad. Undecided if I’ll return. It’s almost disrespectful to a culture. Couldn’t wait to leave!

I ordered Uber eats and this is some of the worst food I have ever paid for. The lamb was insanely tough and rubbery I couldn’t eat it. The chicken was beyond dry. I was so excited to eat this and really disappointed considering how much I paid for this.

Disappointing experience for take out. Order confirmation said pick up for 7:58p but not ready until 8:22. After a 24 minute wait living within 2 miles, food was cold, pita bread was cold, fried kibby was flavorless and missing utensils. Waste of time and money this attempt. Consistency is an issue.

Food, service, and atmosphere are all great. All of the wait staff are very personable and learn customers faces'. It is one of the few places in town serving indoor hookah which is in a separate lounge in the back of the restaurant. They have a great selection of flavors, and will let you mix and match whatever you want. Overall great restaurant.

Stopped here for lunch while in town. The menu is great and the food is excellent. Service is on point and the portions are amazing. They also have a little market in the back that sells imported Greek and Lebanese delicacies at truly reasonable prices. This quaint little eatery is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

I did eat here once . Everything was good . Today I was visiting a very good friend across the street . Danny Wilder has a guitar studio across from Athena . I have probably known him for 60 years and he is one of my heroes . You can't find a better guitarist or a better man . He has overcome some problems that might have crushed me . But he is one of the kindest , most gentle , humble people I have ever known .

I tried the falafel and it tasted really good and the beef kebob have an amazing flavor recommended the atmosphere of the place was fine

Lunch sampler was pretty good. However for dessert I ordered coffee and baklava. The coffee came with a small pile of white powder on the saucer that the waitress said was "cream" The baklava was stale and I could not cut it with the knife provided. When I informed the waitress she did not apologize or acknowledge the bad pastry but simply said, "We don't have any other knives" 😆 As if the knife rather than to stale pastry was the problem. She walked away and I had to call her back to ask her to remove the inedible baklava from the bill. She did so but then up charged the coffee so the bill was the same amount. Never acknowledged or apologized for the bad food. Before I posted this review I decided to try to make it right in private by calling and talking to "Nasim" at the number provided in other bad reviews here. The person who answered said Nasim (whoever that is) was not in and then got very guarded and defensive. Accidents happen. Stale pastry gets served. What makes the difference is the professionalism to rectify the situation. And customer service calls for at the minimum acknowledging the error. That did not happen. I won't be back and cannot recommend Athena to others. *** UPDATE*** Called the manager. He was apologetic and gracious. He told me they addressed the issue and made sure their staff now knows how to handle this better. I was just traveling through Shreveport, but the manager said anytime I come back they will comp my lunch. I won't be able to take him up on the offer but it was nice of him. I'm willing to write this off to a bad day. The food that was not problematic was very tasty. I'd say, give them a try. 🙂

One or two vegan choices. There is a problem with consistency. I always order the same thing. It is never served to me the same as the time before. Love service.

Took a while to get our food (almost an hour and we were the only ones there) good quality food but proportions were off (like 5 pieces of beef and a half a plate of rice) and food requests were forgotten.

Very good place to have lunch and dinner with frnds and family . I visited based on the reviews and it was worth it. Ppl were welcoming and hard working . I ma sure they are paid good enough based on the best service they provided. Hoping to visit this place again

Amazing Food, the clean cut of the chicken is impeccable it's what I experience at home. The beef is extremely clean and is cleaned out and thoroughly cooked. The salads are so fresh that the tomatoes are still In great shape. I have Eaten at the restaurant for 5 years and and it's 2nd to none when it comes to eating outside of a home cooked meal

This was a second choice while traveling through Shreveport but I am so glad our first choice was too busy. The food was amazing! And they have a little grocery section if you want to get anything for home.
