Legit the best place to eat in Tallahassee. If you’ve never tried Indian food go bang ya head against the wall as you’re missing out. It’s the most common dish in England for a reason, 10/10 authentic taste.

It was my first experience trying Indian food. I had the vegetable samosa, garlic cheese Naan and the butter chicken..everything was tasty..the butter chicken was a little more sweet than I anticipated, I still enjoyed it though. Our server was excellent and the atmosphere was nice. I will come by and try something else next time..

Food quite tasty but service lackluster at best. Not an ambiance place either as is hot and not aesthetically pleasing. Know this up front though and you should be good!

I had picked up a Appetizer called Paneer Tikka from Essence of India. I was super shocked when I opened the cover; Paneer Tikka was burnt, roasted across all the corners and was in a condition that cannot be eaten. I went back to the Restaurant and talked to Ranjit and Chef. Both of them were super rude, while they refunded back the amount of the bill; they continued to argue that the Chef has done a wonderful and beautiful job. They also claimed that every Tandoori item will be roasted and burnt which is factually not the case. I am hence rating them very low and recommend all customers to be very cautious.

What a fantastic dinner. The butter chicken was so good I just wanted to drink the sauce that was left. The shrimp biryani was so flavorful. And the butter naan and roti were both great. Service was excellent too. Our drinks stayed full, everyone checked on us and were so friendly. I’m sad I don’t live here to eat this more often, but excited my daughter has a new go to restaurant .

Ordered pickup, took a good bit longer than told it would be. I got the butter chicken and paneer 65 to split and both were wildly underwhelming, especially considering the cost. The takeout portion was, maybe, 2-3 pieces of chicken for my girlfriend and I and small pieces at that. Not to mention the chicken was incredibly tough and tasted old. Seasoning/sauce on the paneer was practically nonexistent. The garlic naan was just ok and sadly the best part of the meal. I hate leaving bad ratings but this was very disappointing for both of us, we were excited all day to try it out.

Holy smokes, best Indian in town! Did the dinner for two and we really enjoyed all three courses! Butter chicken and chicken tika masala were phenomenal. We couldn’t decide which one was the best because they both blew us away. The dessert at the end was a perfect little treat. Happy to have found my new go to Indian spot!

The Chicken Tikka Masala was so flavorful. I enjoyed every bite. The Tandoori Roti was fresh and warm. The Mango Lassi was a nice compliment to sweeten my palette after the delectable spices.

Tried all the chicken entrees. Very savory and delicious. Naan bread and samosas excellent!

I recently visited Essence of India, Indian restaurant and had an exceptional dining experience. The food was simply amazing, with all vegetarian dishes that were bursting with authentic flavors. I've eaten a lot of Indian food around the world. This is one of the best. The Murgh Tandoori Masala was spicy and very satisfying. The staff were very courteous and friendly. Will definitely be coming again. Highly recommend it!

Went for a Sunday buffet. Spread was decent and most of the dishes tasted good. Biryani was missing the biryani flavour. Service was wonderful as was the atmosphere. Buffet price was $20+taxes.

Best Indian I’ve had in Florida (possibly outside India and The UK. The Murgh Tandoori Masala was recommended and delicious. Medium spicy was spicy enough for me. But highly recommend this place.

Amazing food with wonderful service!! Perfect sized portions and so many tasty options. Sadly the ac stopped working when we visited, but they put out fans and kept checking in on us to make sure everything was okay. 👌

We had taken off from nearby Capital city of California on a 2600 miles training trip for a new comer in the company and were longing for Indian food. Google Baba led us to Essence of India and we no doubt enjoyed being there. The superb service of Ranjit and Pranay made it feel more tasty and most memorable. Ranjit recommended for having Taj beer with tandoori chicken and we enjoyed it with Daal Makhani and Roti and Naan. Ranjit, you are outstanding host, no words to paraphrase your superb service. Keep it up, whichever institution, you will be part of, will always flourish.

Amazing place! We’d been spoiled with incredible Indian food when we lived in Malaysia. We’d given up hoping to find any here in the States that came close but Essence of India is probably the best we’ve ever had! Rich, sumptuous sauces, absolutely perfect rice (that’s no small thing). Everything perfect! Wish we lived closer but it’s worth the trip!

We recently dined at Essences of Indian, an incredible Indian restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. Their samosas are absolutely delightful, and the mango chicken is out of this world. Highly recommended!

As an Indian I would not recommend eating at this place. The buffet is overpriced and the food is not authentic at all. Absolutely poor waiting service as we had to wait until the end of our meal to recieve water. Overall the food quality is not worth the price.

The food was amazing. Ordered Veg Biriyani and they did justice to Biryani since I was skeptical before ordering it fearing it will turn out as Pulao. After that we ordered Chole curry and butter tandoori roti…everything tasted fresh and yumm. Bonus: we also got Mango Lassi complimentary which our kid finished happily 😍 LOVED the place and service

I was trying to decide on where to go for dinner with my husband for date night and I remembered my daughter mentioning Essence of India is her favorite. Since this was our first time eating here, we decided to try the dinner for two and it did not disappoint! Not only did the food look amazing but the flavors were on point and the spiciness gradually grew with intensity of each bite. We can’t wait to go back!

I have nothing but rave reviews for the food. I got the butter chicken, garlic naan, and mixed veggie curry + rice. Soooo yummy! My only complaint is the online text system. I placed my order on the website and got a text my order would be ready at 6:14 PM. I rushed over because I’m 20 minutes away. I got there at 6:25pm. I was told it would be a wait. There was easily 10 other people waiting for to go orders so I understand they were busy. But I didn’t get my food until 7:30PM. They need to fix the text system. I would’ve stayed home longer. Now I know for next time.

The wait time here is absurd!!!!! As a DD driver, be prepared to wait!!!

The dinner for 2 was just the right amount food and we got a little of everything. Everything was absolutely amazing. They also made great recommendations.

We dined in and I decided to try their mango mousse but to go. I go to taste it (you can even see where I licked it because I didn’t have a spoon) and it had an odd taste, as if it had been in the fridge for a good while and then I actually take a good look at it and it has mold…….. i absolutely love their food but this was so disappointing :(

My wife and I came here yesterday for the first time. It was great! Firstly, we came early and there wasn't really anyone in the location. We were sat immediately, and our waiter was prompt for us the entire time. We got lunch specials, I got the curried goat (spicy), and she got the butter chicken (mild). We even got a Lassi drink because we had never tried it. It was superb and apparently a very healthy drink for digestion. We had samosas, which were crispy, hot, and tasted great. We had lentil soup. It was pretty good. Our 1 year old enjoyed it quite a lot. Our entrees were both amazing, and mine had a good level of heat to it. We ended with both dessert options, and they were also quite good, even if small portions. All around, it was a great experience, and I look forward to coming back to try more of their menu. I'd highly recommend this spot for an authentic Indian cuisine and excellent service.

Ranjit was an awesome server! We arrived just as the kitchen was closing, but we were still greeted warmly and didn't feel rushed at all. The food was excellent! We had the Chicken Methi Malai, aloo paratha, and panipuri, and they all hit the spot. I highly recommend this place for the quality of food, atmosphere, and service.
